Introductory Paragraph:
Hi guys,
I’ve broken up my questions into three relevant sections.

1. I ask about the damage mechanics of mainhand/offhand weapons.
2. I ask about mainhand/offhand sigils.
3. My own personal problem with sigils and offhandedness.

Questions on Damage:
Can someone please explain to me how mainhand + offhand stats contribute to your damage. Do both weapons contribute to your overall damage, or only the weaponskill it is tied to?
For example: The mainhand stats contribute towards skills: 1, 2, 3
The offhand stats contribute towards skills: 4, 5
If so, how do dual skills work for Thieves? Because many of the dual skills involve striking with the offhand weapon in the combo before the mainhand weapon.

Questions on Sigils:
How do sigils work in terms of Mainhand + Offhand? I have heard that if you have two sigils of the same approximate type – i.e Sigil of Fire and Sigil of Air – that the game rolls and checks for the mainhand sigil first.
I have also heard that if the sigils are of the same type (as with previous example), that IF either of the sigils are triggered, the cooldown is the same for both of them. Is this true?

My Dilemna:
What I want to do with Sigils, is to put a Sigil of Energy on my mainhand sword and a Sigil of Fire into an offhand sword. Since these are different sigils with different cooldowns, will this functionally work the same way as if I put the Sigil of Fire onto my Sword and the Sigil of Energy onto my Dagger?
I’m just concerned that the Sigil of Fire won’t trigger on my 1, 2, 3 attack skills since I put the sigil of fire onto my offhand weapon.

Recently started playing WvWvW and I’m pretty interested in acquiring the Mistforged skins. The wiki is pretty scarce of informatino on how to acquire them.
From what I can fathom, you get 200 tickets in first place, and 50 less tickets for each progressively lower win place. There also seems to be some condition where you have to complete the weekly acheivement to be eligible for rewards.

Can someone please explain to me what first, second, third place constitute? Is this your world’s placement out of all worlds, or placement amongst the competing worlds in your individual WvW match-ups? Also, is the weekly acheivment just the “Round 1, Round 2 achievment underneath the Fall 2014 WvW tab?”

I see, but are there any tips to mixing valk gear with other sets?
It just steems to me that the extra vitality with no toughness will go to waste after being hit two or three times.

I was thinking of running full valkyrie with soldier (Pow/Tough/Vit) trinkets. Would the extra Vit from Soldier’s trinkets be pointless since I’ve got +Vit form Valk anyway? Should I just use Knight’s (Tough/Pow/Prec) trinkets instead?

Hi guys, I got really lucky yesterday and got a Ascended Chest with Valk stats on sPVP last night. I main on Thief and have a leveling Ele, War and Mes.

I don’t really know what Valkyrie stats is used for, so I’m having trouble choosing weapons. I’m thinking of choosing the sword since Thief, Warrior and Mesmer can all use it, but I’m not sure whether Mes and Warr actually have any uses for Valk stats.

Hi community, I recently got back into GW2 after I heard about all the awesome updates and I decided that my new goal was to eventually get Ascended Spinal Blades.

I’d just like to ask you guys, what you think is the fastest way to get Blade Shards? I’ve tried running P3 of Twilight Arbor and farming the Aethertrash on the Not So Secret JP, are there any other ways to get Blade Shards?

I’m having some trouble putting a P/D Bleed and/or Poison build together.
Trying to build it around either a full Rampager (Prec/Pow/Cond) or mixed in with some Carrion (Cond/Pow/Vit).

Most of the time I’ve been playing S/P or S/D on a Valkyrie & Zerker mixed build (0/30/0/25/15) that’s based around crits bonus from the sides and might buffs. Because of this I’m a bit new to the condition game.

Any advice on builds, runes, skills that I should use?
Mainly looking for PVE and WVW builds. But any advice is welcome in general
