A Henge Away From Home achievement?

You don’t need to finish ALL the achievements to get the skin, just 20 of them.

Ahhhh that makes sense. I almost did a spit take once I saw those two achievements, but it seems I misinterpreted it.

Cheers!

Soooo let me get this straight… A Henge Away From Home achievement requires the Hound Skin Mantle, which you get from fully completing the Flashpoint Mastery achievement… but the Flashpoint Mastery achievement requires A Henge Away From Home to be completed…

Someone help me out here… Which exactly am I supposed to be going for here???

Mallyx Utility builds?

in Revenant

TheMagicFace.9854

I think staff should work fine. I used it on my power build when HoT first came out and it makes sense that it could be better for PVE due to boss break bars.

Alright cool, one last question, what’s probably more important in Mallyx builds? Utility, mixed damage, or survivability? I ask because I spent some time making a build that has physical and condi damage on par with optimal builds and 1500 in both toughness and vitality but no healing power.
Here’s a link if you have any words on it:

I’ve actually been using the cellestial Glint/Mallyx build you mentioned, but I use it as a WvW front-line build. It’s an odd build since it’s pretty durable and take a beating in WvW, but it also has decent DPS against stationary targets. This allows you to both zerg and quickly flip camps and solo towers.

A while ago I used the raid training golem (no buffs) to benchmark some of my professsions and was suprised where this build ranked:

PvE Berserker GS & S/F Guardian – 5,275 (32k full buffs)
WvW Berserker Staff Elementalist – 5,254
WvW Glint/Mallyx Celestial Revanent – 3,848
WvW Berserker/Captains S/D Thief – 3,571
WvW Valkerie/Berserker Staff & GS Necromancer – 3,082

With the Sigil of Strength and the ability to blast your mace’s fire field it is easy to stack 25 might without using any of Glint’s skills. Glint’s Shared Empowerment trait also provides quite a few stacks of might if you spam your One With Nature skill.

I compared the DPS provided by Corruption’s grand master traits. I chose Maniacal Persistence over Diabolic Inferno since both traits provide about 200 DPS against single targets with mace equipped. Diabolic inferno has a much higher DPS potential since it is capable of hitting 5 targets, but I didn’t want to complicate my skill rotation for WvW. Maniacal Persistence also provides about 60 DPS when ranging targets with the hammer auto-attack.

I usually apply regeneration, swiftness, and protection when on Glint and traveling or attacking from range. Make sure you use Versed in Stone, this trait provides quite a bit of defense when you get bursted. It usually saves my behind when I’m out of position in WvW and should help against Mordrem Snipers.

This build also has quite a few weaknesses. The damage output is significanlty less then PvE meta builds so I wouldn’t use this build for fractals or raids. It’s not very mobile. Your best option is to use Unyielding Anguish to move faster and get out of trouble. It is also difficult to stack might and apply conditions against mobile targests. When faced with this situation you will lose a significant amount of your DPS. Luckily this doesn’t occur often in PvE, but it definitely hurts this build when trying to solo roam in WvW. PvE enemies with low HP also don’t give you enough time to stack might.

This was actually extremely helpful! Thanks!
Just a couple of questions though.
How is it in terms of healing? The one problem I had with my last setup was Mallyx’s heal had kinda fell flat on it’s face and didn’t heal for a lot, even with conditions.
Also, how does staff perform on that setup?
And lastly would Hardening Persistence help with the survivability at all? I noticed that it counts to ANY skill that has upkeep, not just glint ones.

Mallyx Utility builds?

in Revenant

Posted by: TheMagicFace.9854

TheMagicFace.9854

So I (probably like many others) have had some difficulty making a useful Mallyx build. I tried the standard Mace/Axe Viper and that ended being literally sparta kicked to death by a Mordrem Archer due to having no survivability.

I’m having to completely redo and rethink my character because I don’t want to give up on Mallyx Stance, it’s throwback to GW1 is just too awesome for me to let it go.

So what builds can use Mallyx Stance for utility?

I’m thinking maybe a Mixed-damage plus either healing power or toughness/vitality, or perhaps full Celestial with Runes of Leadership for boon sharing. I am also thinking of using a Staff as it’s condi removal and CCs are pretty decent.

I wish it had Celestial. Since that’s what I have my Revenant using it would have been nice. But as said, no.

The Herald shoulder armor does have Celestial as an option I believe, so maybe that’s what you’re thinking of.

Yeah, after thinking about it it was the Herald’s Shoulderplate and Shield which the shield was salvaged, but not the shoulderplate thankfully.

Staff revenant

in Revenant

Posted by: TheMagicFace.9854

TheMagicFace.9854

Staff is not a very amazing dps weapon. Its AA is ok but its only other dmg skill is 5 that is a burst locked behind a cooldown. Skill 2 isn’t worth using. The one thing staff does very well is skill 5 will destroy a champion’s breakbar. And of course there is the aoe 2 condi removal/heal.

There really isn’t any special hidden secret to staff that would indirectly make it stronger than sword unfortunately so just pickup the obvious traitlines of devestation, invocation, herald.

No, no, no, NO! WRONG! WRONG!!! Wrong, wrong, wrong! SHAME ON YOU FOR MISLEADING THIS PLAYER! SHAAAME ON YOUUUUU!!!

-
At OP:
Staff on Revenant is GOOD to say the least. It’s not a high damage weapon but is decently damaged enough to outpace the mace. It’s MAIN use however is CC and defense.
It’s 2 skill is higher damage than it’s auto attacks and if you hit an enemy using a skill with it, you get a AOE smash that dazes enemies and does high damage and the cooldown on it is very short.
It’s 3 skill is a block that can blind up to 3 enemies if it hits them.
It’s 4 skill is a heal/condi removal, which can be used in synergy with Ventari stance. And it’s 5 skill is a defiance bar destroyer that also gives you evasion.

Stupid high damage is NOT everything. It’s how you play your build which decides on how well the weapons work. Staff is a defensive weapon that works well with most builds. The only thing it doesn’t work with are the grumbling people that think not optimal means useless.
The staff IS viable, it’s a weapon that works well with all builds.
You say you’re having fun with staff, then I’d say you’re doing it right.

Viable stats for Mallyx/Glint?

TheMagicFace.9854

So a thing happened and I don’t feel like writing it out too much so I’ll keep it short

I made a build and didn’t check to see if the trinkets were readily available before I made the armor and they practically don’t exist, barring Raid and Bloodstone trinkets. The build was to be Viper weapons and armor, and Carrion trinkets but Carrion trinkets were never implemented.
I tried exotic carrion trinkets but the result of lowered health and power left it with survival.

Needless to say, this ordeal has put a massive spike in this build as I cannot recreate Carrion stats with other trinkets, and has me at a loss. So I am just going to remake the build altogether.

Help me out here Glint/Mallyx veterans, what are FUN and VIABLE builds with these stances? I’ve been hearing a LOT of good things about Celestial Revs.

Let it also be said that I don’t give a kitten about optimism or “meta” and anyone wants to post something along the lines of “mallyx is bad for raids go shiro” or “just go zerk for open world” will be ignored simply because I DON’T CARE.

What order would a follower of Abaddon choose

TheMagicFace.9854

Thanks for the replies all! I love me some good lore. +1 FOR EVERBODY!
I ended up going with the Priory. Draxynnic pretty much hit the nail on the head.
To be honest though, Abaddon’s doing aren’t really ever mentioned in GW2 aside from a book in the Priory Basement. Through the story he’s always mentioned as a “god that’s been forgotten”. My guess is after his memory was wiped from history, 250 years later, only the order of whispers and a few Priory members would know what he had actually done and how dangerous he and his acolytes actually were.

What order would a follower of Abaddon choose

in Lore

Posted by: TheMagicFace.9854

TheMagicFace.9854

So one of my characters has a sort of personal lore that I came up with in that he is essentially a scholar/ritualist of Abaddon(Mallyx-Revenant) and is trying to discover ancient magic/history involving Abaddon.

What order would fit in with this the most? My mind is saying The Order of Whispers because they’re master manipulators and keepers of secrets, as Abaddon would be.

But then again the Priory has a massive bronze statue of Abaddon as well as an even more massive library with several tomes and scrolls on what he did as well as ancient rituals not known by the Order of Whispers.

I’m stumped here. Any GW1 lore followers have an ideas here?

Using one sword for two weapon combos?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: TheMagicFace.9854

TheMagicFace.9854

So I use sword/shield and scepter/sword on my Mesmer and you seemingly need two swords for both weapon combinations, so curiosity hit me.

Is there a way to switch my mainhand sword on my sword/shield into the offhand on my scepter/sword from quick-switching? Thereby using one ascended sword for two weapon combinations?
Or will I always have to have two swords?

Couple of questions on Chak Minis

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TheMagicFace.9854

TheMagicFace.9854

Hey all, I’m after the Chak Miniatures and it’s proven to be a real b****. So I have some questions.

First question regarding the Mini Chak Gerent; This is the one you get from the Hivemaster achievement.
Is there an easier way to collect Chak eggs or weapons besides completing the meta for ONE egg every single time?(I need 18)

Second question regarding the Mini Chak Lobber; this is be one you get for seventy five guild commendations, yeah you heard me SEVENTY FIVE.
So my question is: if I have multiple guilds, would I be able to join the guild missions each week on ALL of them and get a load of commendations? Or is guild mission completion shared across all guilds?

Having it in the preview just to drum up some hype for a long time doesn’t make much sense… a little while, maybe.

P.S. I’m looking forward to it, too.

Think of it as a very subtle advertisement, they did the same with the bubble glider.

In regard to the subject, initially I heard rumours it was going to be released the first Tuesday of the month, then that turned out to be Quaggan Week, so you know, Anet stuff. It will release when it does

A friend in-game speculated that they possibly didn’t voice the Glide-r-Tron and then realized that everyone wanted it to have a voice, so now they’re having to go back, but again, that’s speculation.

Making a Zealot's Auric weapon possible?

You can always transmute it. The new weapon skins do not have all the stat option when it comes to crafting them.

That’s very true, but I am sort of wanting to know if someone who has tried it was successful or not

Any word on Ascended Valkyrie trinkets?

TheMagicFace.9854

So, I’ve been attempting to find ascended Valkyrie trinkets but can’t find any reference to them anywhere online or from any players in-game, but today I found them available on the trinkets tab on the Build Editor which those were not there 3 days ago.

Was something on this announced or were trinkets found somewhere? or has the build editor screwed up?

Chrono trait line useless?

EVERYTHING I JUST SAID, IS EVEN WORSE FOR WvW, WHICH IS THE ONLY GAME MODE IN THIS GAME THAT I STILL CARE ABOUT.

Lol. PvP isn’t this games strongest suit, nor is it the only gamemode. I’ve used all the chrono traits and find they all have usefulness in pve, not all the time but no build is perfect for everything, it’s how you play them which verifies their usefullness.

Chrono trait line useless?

in Mesmer

Posted by: TheMagicFace.9854

TheMagicFace.9854

I feel that any and all classes aren’t useless, and the only people that say so are the l33tz0rs and metaplayers, players that had entire builds centered on the skills nerfed.
So of course they are raging all over the forums about it.
The chrono class only received two nerfs and they were big but the line itself is still very much so strong and viable. I find it especially useful as a sort of a secondary phantasm traitline, the ability to resummon phantasms and clones and give them superspeed on shatters is extremely useful.
