Exactly. It really wouldn’t take that much to bring back some of that content.
It also wouldn’t have been all that hard to, say, retire titles that were earned way-back-when and replace them with cool new challenges/titles. Instead, the boring got even more boring. The few things that left … nerfed…
It would have been really nice to see Mordremoth’s henchmen being killed by plasma-induced-Halloween-pumpkins in Lion’s Arch, or really, just some new stuff like – cool awards and achievements, maybe some new “killer”-skins (pun intended) and weapons, or better yet, building off of the Mad King’s dysfunctional family…
As someone who has been playing since the first halloween event, casually at that, there is literally nothing for me to do but work on that nightmarish bullkitten of a backpiece, the ascended bat themed one. Which is a giant wast of time with how much resources/gold/dumb luck it takes, could spend all my playtime with no guarantee that I’ll even get everything to make it with before the event ends, and that with spending obscene amounts of gold as well.
I don’t want new Halloween content. I want more changes to the world (Living World & current events) and more festivals that are mostly repeats.
Put another way, I’d rather see dev resources applied to changing the game’s permanent content rather than on a festival that lasts only a few weeks.
Why not both? They could pull this off when they first launched the game with the bare bones of a plan for what they were going to do for both the holidays and the living story, with just as many or possibly even fewer developers and resources than they have now, and with less experience under their belts at that.
How exactly they have they become worse at pumping out content with time? It doesn’t make any sense, if anything they should have been improving and developing a more consistent pipeline over the last four years.
Exactly!! I do NOT want them to pull away from LW3, nor do I want to see the continual wait, wait, wait for Legendary ARMOR.
Anet, you did it before. Please honor those that have stuck with you for 4 YEARS and put in some new content for the festivals.
Last year Anet said there would be no new holiday content because of size and depth of the HoT release. What is your excuse this year? Common guys!!!! Enough is enough. Time for new Holiday Content!!
I can’t buy the Skritt Worker Contract. I finished the Heart, and can buy other stuff, like the Petrified Wood, but not the contract.
Still nothing, it’s an event cycle that’s just not progressing.
Please look into this guys.
I’m having the same problem
Correct me if I’m wrong here, but this is one skimpy slot that holds just one item? If so are people nuts, paying $9 to save yourself a few seconds each time you decide to play on a different character and want to transfer items to that character. I wouldn’t even spend $1 for just one of that. You do realize for 600 gems you can get a whole bank tab? And even at that price I feel it is overpaying for something that should be gained as a in game reward. I’m not normally one to cry price gouging but this item qualifies as a price gouge if I ever seen one.
It’s a pure conveniance item, you’re saying so yourself.
Is it expensive? Absolutely.
Is it mandatory? No.
Does it multiply the value of your other conveniance items? Yes, and that’s it’s main draw. People now can get 1 permanent tool, salvage-o-matic, royal pass, etc.
Pricing the item any lower than 700 gems would devalue multiple of those permanent items (most of them priced at 1,000 gems) even more.
You are forgetting the crowd of people who have:
- full bank tabs
- full material tab extenders
- salvage-o-matics
- royal access passes (any of them)
- more than 5 characters (most veterans are going on 10-20 at the moment)To any one of these, the new shared slot is of quite high value. It even increases the usefulness of permanent access merchants. Permanent Bank access is now a god send and allows combined with 1 shared slot bank access on ALL your characters, everywhere.
EDIT: speaking of permanent bank access express, look which item just quadrupled in value https://www.gw2tp.com/item/35984-permanent-bank-access-contract
I don’t understood why anyone would pay for this now, or a merchant, since u can now simply go to ur guild hall. u can go to the bank, merchant, and fix ur armor simply by going to ur guild hall… and when ur done, u leave your guild hall and go back to the exact spot u were at b4 (unless ur in an instance)…
The new slots do make a lot of sense for the harvesting tools tho
I will tell you why you see such a big difference, but as for the reason Anet has decided to punish WvW, well, they need to answer that question.
Here is one example. Our guild used to be able to use easy-to-get influence to make a buff that allowed us to claim something, a fort, tower, or camp. Now, we have to have a Scribe that for some ungodly reason needs to craft different qualities of “Paper” to open up most of what is available at any guild’s “War Room”. To make the first 3 (three) upgrades takes a low level scribe (thank God), AND 4,500 green logs…. yes…. 4,500!!!
Now, to level your scribe to the next “paper” quality (paper? really????) will cost your guild (or the poor sucker that takes on the scribe “craft” (“Craft” is in quotes because it is NOT a real craft – it is a pure RIP OFF)) about 500-1000 gold… No, I am NOT kidding. And that is to JUST get your guild’s scribe from level 50 to level 75!!!!!!
Now, please refer to the title of this post, “Why punish WvW…” So, this is why I see this as a punishment…
First, NO OTHER Guild “UPGRADE” consistently Needs a scribe… ONLY WvW – again – Why?
Second, NO OTHER Guild UPGRADE (Other then MAJOR restorations, or the Mine) needs anywhere NEAR as much material as EACH freaking WvW upgrade.
Third (and this is a looooong time problem with wvw, not just a HoT issue), the rewards for playing WvW absolutely stink. They are purely pathetic compared to ANY other aspect of GW2. Period. PVE Boss Trains drop tons of loot, Map-events drop tons of loot, and PVP is like the GW2 sweetheart. Good-grief, they even reward PVP’s with real Cash Rewards!! Up to $250k!!!!
Lastly, don’t even get me started about the costs of EACH Guild Banner (WvW or not!) (For example, 38 GOLD (not silver) to make ONE Guild Gathering Banner, or the 100 gold (not 100 silver – which would be reasonable) it takes for ONE Hero Banner!!!)
Now, to be perfectly honest, I LOVE the design changes, all of them. I love being able to get a buff that allows me to jump off of ANY cliff, and not die, love the new champs, love how one must think in order to to attack and/or defend places…
So that really gets me wondering… Anet, why would you sink all that design money into revamping Boarderlands, and then KILL WvW with all this scribing crap? Even if u just plain want to soak all the people who love (or used to love) WvW, why not just make them turn in the material that is needed and LEAVE the Guild Scribe OUT OF IT!!!!!!
Bolts of embroidered silk are being traded on the tp, so someone already figured out how to acquire them.
Just because the way to acquire it isnt served to you on a silver platter somewhere on the internet, doesnt mean the item doesnt exist or it is bugged.Back in the day, when you played an rpg, you had to find out everything for yourself or rely on clues given in game because the internet didnt exist.
If you dont know how to acquire the item, you simply are not a skilled enough scribe or player.Happy crafting.
Good Grief, aren’t u just the snooty one!!
“Back in the day” people treated others with respect!
I know that out of 180 guild members, i have about 0 (zero) requesting parties to run any of the HoT maps. They like SW, and I see requests to team up there, but no one wants anything but the Mastery Points and such. And then there is the constant grind, grind grind for the EXTREMELY limited Flax Resources. HoT is really a disappointment.
Never mind. It did show up, but this was the first major upgrade with no fan-fare, so no one knew where it was.
I initiated our guild’s portal and nothing happened. The material was taken our of the Treasury, the guild was given its GXP, but nothing else happened. I tried initiating a guild event, thinking maybe it only shows up during special occasions, but that did nothing. I left the guild hall and returned, still nothing. The upgrade “icon” is not “grayed out” either.
flax seeds, master points…. starting to feel like a grinding game, like TERA. cant have fun, must grind, grind, grind, grind. this is NOT fun. plus, those that dont “pay-to-play” (as in buy-the-expansion) really can’t help much at all with this. really stinks. i have seen my guild’s log-in’s drop about 50% and i can only wonder if it is because they feel sooo left out now. and this is with the Halloween event running too. i would have thought there would have been a much larger player log-in. don’t blame them really, considering most of the guild chat seems to be about our farming needs for material that must come out of the new HoT maps.
How do u unlock them?
what laurel vendor has it for sale?
Can not click on player and invite to party

I am having problems clicking on someone and inviting them to our party. I can sometimes do it, like maybe once or possibly twice, and then I can not do it again for like a day or two. I click on people’s names that are LFG and invite them, but there is no option to invite.
I can type /invite and invite them, but that is it. PLUS, I have had others tell me in-game that they can not join by clicking on my name either. They also can type /join, but can not click on me and join.
Others can do this. In fact, Others in my GROUP can do this, but I can not. Further, others in my group can put up a “RFM” (room for more) message and people can click on them and join our group, but if I do the same thing, people tell me they can not join.
Well, I went against the tide, and made a Condition, Power, Vitality build, and it ROCKS… absolutely rocks!
OK, Update, just in case anyone else is confused by what I was seeing. When I won recipes during various other times while playing, they were always “green” if I could use them, but the ascended recipe was red. My bad.
Thanks for the clarification Khisanth.2948 (and after looking at your link, it appears I was only 1/3 right – LOL!!!)
“just salvage AC/TA crap, you’re welcome.”
What do you mean by AC/TA please ?
Ascalonian Catacombs, Twilight Arbor dungeon exotic weapons.
anything with those Prefixes you want work unless you can craft the inscription.
That does not make any sense because neither of those dungeons offer gear with Soldier’s stats. Caudecu’s Manor does, and so does Sorrow’s Embrace, but not AC or TA
I’m hoping that this is a bug. I mean I spent a ton of karma at the “Master Weaponsmith” (NOT the Artificer guy) for the ascended inscription and was excited to see that the “Sentinel Inscription” was a choice. But after choosing the Sentinel Inscription, it is NOT usable at either the Weaponsmith and/or Huntsman?!?! If this is NOT a bug/mistake, then why are you guys selling it at the Master Weaponsmith???
Yea, I have to agree with Lithril Ashwalker.6230
Really Anet? Why do u take something that is cool, like this, and then put on stupid restrictions like that?
Nalora.7964 hit it RIGHT ON!!!! I needed Aurora’s remains :-) Thanks!!!!!!
I also am new to this forum. What is "DB ", “S/P” and "S/D
I am now able to log in.
I was temporarily banned party in Lions Arch anyone?
I was in Frostforge earlier, logged out, and was then banned
i never got any email
Me neither. And no information is available on their Facebook page either. In fact, they keep deleting any post that has anything to do with this. So it is obvious that someone is aware of this and that they do NOT want it getting out publicly.
I have no idea why any company would do that.
Are some servers more affected than others?
The only ones that know – ie – A-Net – is not talking… so it’s anyone’s guess.
I do know that today I had a very small download from A-net and whenever there is a log-in download there is a bigger download right after that. But today there was no bigger download, so I am wondering if that had something to do with it.
It is not linked to just one server though.
And I have NEVER used our guild’s bank, never once, so it is NOT related to transferring gold through the guild’s bank.
I love how they try to veer off the fact that there is no “auto banning” and that each suspected infraction is reviewed before banned/suspended.
so someone is a bit trigger happy and banning everyone or is there some ANetbot that has just got it wrong?
I don’t mind being falsely accused and reinstated but to just take us for idiots…?!
I do mind being falsely accused.
Obviously, this is some type of error because even their own outline on banning ppl included warnings via email. I suspect no one here has gotten such an email.
I got banned as well. Never said a foul word, and i have no idea how to exploit any software. All I do is play. I was only about 4 hours away from having my 4th world explorer complete. I’m hoping they were hacked or something, but really A-net needs to make a statement ASAP.
I have two lvl 80 characters that I like to run thru dungeons; a char warrior named General Niles and a sylvari guardian named General Miles. Ever since your last “fix”, my 2nd character will no longer get 60 tokens for working their way thru the dungeon – they get 30 instead. This is NOT the same character running thru twice in a row in close succession, it is 2 individual characters each making their first run. This does not happen with any of my other lvl 80 characters, only these two. I suspect that it is somehow related to the similarity in names, but that is only my suspicion.
Please help.
This patch was WAY to big!
I have loved this game, BUT I gave up on doing dungeons a long time ago. They are WAAAAAAY to hard, and I have 3 lvl 80’s, and 2 of them have 100% world completion. In fact, when I am done developing my Guardian, I will probably just stop playing BECAUSE THE DUNGEONS ARE WAAAAAAY TO HARD!
At first they were ok, but then someone made them like 5 times harder, AND when I have died 10 times, my reward is a stinking blue level item!!!! I hate that.
Please LESSEN our frustration with the dungeons by making them the levels they are supposed to represent. In other words, a level 35 dungeon should be doable with 5 level 35 players, who play as level 35 players are used to playing.
<Sigh> – bottom line, I hate the dungeons right now. If u don’t make them easier to play, then I (and many other people) will just plain leave.
