Probably to stop every single intractable npc from being hidden behind a wall of giant mounts?
He’s Right You Know
He definitely is right. I didn’t find it too annoying. At some point it did get really repetitive though. I would support the change however.
What really bugged me was when I would get pulled off my mount from mobs really easily. I think a break bar for our mounts would be great, one that doesn’t regenerate until it’s been broken so it takes multiple cc’s to knock us off our mounts. This change would be a win win because it would also teach people how break bars work.

Coming from a player that has mostly human characters, I have to agree!!! Anet please stop ditching the other races! It’s very frustrating!!!!!
I have a small handful of Asuran females and it’s annoying they get suits for some of their outfits when the human counterpart gets a dress! Stop short-handing the other races! Yours truly a mostly human player!
I use to run soldiers armor with berserker weapons because it still did a decent amount of dps while giving the insta splat ele some survivability because you know, they’re MELEE, but they nerfed toughness and vitality to kingdom come which is almost a necessity on d/d.
D/D has potential to burst but because elementalists are required to run zerkers to even see those red numbers, it isn’t practical as they’re busy being smeared away like a poop stain on a door mat. Also, the staff brings everything d/d can WITH AOE, crowd control and did I mention more crowd control and an escape, believe it or not. D/D has 1 potentially 2 escapes and 1 of them can be interrupted, WHAAAAAAT?!
Fortunately I don’t care about the skins so I will not be purchasing them but I am really disappointed because my friend is interested and he is furious the prices are 2 tickets.

The real problem with this game is it is plain shallow. DPS builds are ridiculously overpowered to the point they make anything other than glass cannon DPS less than ideal. This showcases how poorly this game has catered to the kitten DPS crowd to the point where anything other than pure DPS is not “meta”.
So this all renders half the armor in this game pointless, and 3/4 of the possible builds pointless. At what point does ANET take a step back and realize the DPS is out of control in this game. I for one am tired of some no skill elementalist in pure DPS gear and the cookie cutter META build running into mobs and melting them all in 2 seconds when I run dungeons.
You know its not “elite” or hard to create a OP’ed DPS build in this game. I think some people like to mistake doing this as actually being “elite”. This has got to be the most dumbed down game I have ever played. What on the surface looks like a deep game with a ton of different play options and roles is actually just a facade, because unless you are pure DPS with pure DPS builds you are a “detriment” to the group.
GW2 is an example of what not to do. I will not be purchasing GW3.
DPS is powerful for a reason, because they melt in an instant. I actually think DPS isn’t good enough because everything and its mother can block half the burst any DPS build dishes out.
How does everyone feel about the d/d elementalist? It is a fun build but since Heart of Thorn’s release, it has seen its fair share of the muck.
I love running d/d on my elementalist in pve and have years of experience with it but lately it’s been feeling extremely weak. It has potential to burst, but even with a marauder’s build for that tiny bit of vitality for survivabilty, sigil of force and bloodlust or battle and superior rune of durability, i don’t feel like my damage can keep up with the staff and i still feel extremely squishy.
First off let me just say Mistlock Sanctuary looks amazing, graphics, features, and extra stuff make it the best home away from universe.
The problem is when you are done there that it becomes the most inconvenient place to be. Due to the fact this map is not on the main world you can only leave from the teleporter in the center or through another menu(guild, pvp, etc.)
This makes this map very unfriendly to use. For instance, if I want something from my bank, I can go to my guild hall and get it there and teleport right back to where I was. With this I have to teleport to the sanctuary, get the item, teleport to a city, teleport to the map I was in, and walk back.
Please, let us teleport back to where we where when using the pass while inside the sanctuary, either that or put the sanctuary on the main map so we can use way points.
Not to mention the loading screen times
What I really hope they let us do is port from the Mistlock Sanctuary to any part of Tyria.

I’m just gonna come right out and just rant on how ridiculous a rank you have to be in order to get the mistforged triumphant armor. How INSANE is Anet these days? Well if you were curious look at the ranks required.
Piece | Rank
Helm 1800
Shoulders 1700
Chest 2000
Gloves 1500
Leggings 1900
Boots 1600
And to clarify, I played wvw back in 2014 and got my mistforged daggers. Am a somewhat vet player to gw2 and played hours in wvw and i’m barely approaching rank 100. Obviously I enjoy more pve but if I can’t get these within the 100’s I’m not even interested in working for the armor.

I think the expansion should cost maybe 20 dollars?… If that… Will just have to wait and see what content is actually included in this release. It’s hard to think there’ll be enough content to justify the hefty price tag. Will also be watching Metacritic upon release for the reviews.
(edited by TheToxicFox.8710)
Gawd thank you, now hopefully all these $50 threads will stop. I’ll be so happy!
You know you don’t have to read them right? Also, still didn’t really address the main concern of most of the veteran players. No reduced price without base game. Gonna wait on this expansion and expansions to come.
I’ve spent enough money on games this year. GW2 will have to really impresses me with the amount of content in this expansion to change my opinion.
I honestly find it hard to imagine the content in this expansion can size up to the amount of content in Fallout 4 considering the amount of time Bethesda spends on each and every one of their games. I’m not paying almost the same price of an entirely NEW game for an expansion. This is the reason I never even found WoW remotely interesting. Too much expensive content as well as a monthly subscription. Am I saying that Anet didn’t spend a lot of frugal and important time perfecting this expansion? Absolutely not, but anyone can say without a doubt, there’s no way it’s gonna be as big as Fallout or The Elder Scrolls.

DONE! I’m gonna use the $50 towards Fallout 4.
Now why didn’t I think of that myself…? That is a really good idea.
Cuz It’s probably gonna be all hype and no delivery.
Who are you to think that Fallout 4 would fail to deliver? That game is going to be great! This game not so much I’m afraid.

USE THIS FOR FALLOUT 4.
DONE! I’m gonna use the $50 towards Fallout 4.
And you’re missing my point, everything in the gem store could be earned with gold. If you chose to purchase it with money then that was a decision you made.
That still doesn’t change the fact that players have been buying lots of things from the Gem Store, and paying for the supposedly free content by doing so. So saying that the content was free… it wasn’t really. We all paid for it.
Again, an option you made and could’ve done differently.
But you do realize to support the devs some of those players needed to purchase gems with real money.
I guess what I’m getting at is that you haven’t purchased gems before while others that have are making a mistake. So in reality you’re the one that has chosen to NOT support the devs by NOT purchasing gems. You’re right, he/she doesn’t have to purchase them but he/she does because he/she enjoys the content and therefore supports the game.
a response just now “Hm, that is true, in which case I guess most of our arguments are flawed, people complaining about no character slot reasons and the free content reasons… It’s actually an interesting thing about this.”
There are a lot of complaints about HoT. The biggest issue is not the content but the price tag ($50), the content, and the free game for new players ($40 New) but for veterens: the price tag ($50), the content. (Big period there. )
New Players
- Heart of Thorns ($50)
- Base Game ($40)
- Content (Whether big or small, we don’t know yet.)TOTAL = $50
Veterens
- Heart of Thorns ($50)
-Base Game ($40)
- ContentTOTAL = $50
When it should be = $50 – $40 = $10when you mention the base game there’s no ground for you to stand on there as you’ve got what you paid for, again, 3 years of content. So that second bit has about as much of a chance of standing as dusk dropping.
Watch potatoes vid, he covers many things, and brings up that the expansion should just be $40, no changes to what comes with it, just a price change.
But the game is still $40. So I still have ground because the game still has value. I really don’t understand why I’ve wasted my time here with negligent players. I’m never visiting this thread again so any wasted effort to make your argument sound valid and prove your point will be pointless. Don’t bother replying if the truth hurts. You’re out $50, I’ve got The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 on the way and this game and it’s content is OVERPRICED anyways. Keep supporting Greed™

In today’s world most companies idea of customer service and loyalty is defined by the absolute minimum they can do and still retain your business. If they think the masses will pay $50 + $10 for a character slot, that’s what they are going to ask of you. They have employees there who’s sole job is to get a feel for the community to see how far they can bend it before it breaks.
They don’t care about you or me, they care about what is in your wallet, period. Loyal fan who has been with them for 10 years or someone who has yet to give them a dime, means nothing, it’s all measured in dollars and cents. They will pay you lip service and tell you otherwise, but only a fool believes anything a snake oil salesman tells them.
If enough people complain, they will give you a character slot, but believe me, they probably went into this knowing this might happen and are controlling the situation, guiding the community to ask for as little as possible to make them happy enough to spend more money. Marketing and sales teams are taught how to maximize sales, not make people happy, unless it benefits sales.
This is the best comment I have read in this thread in the past couple hours. Great argument and very valid point. It’s exactly what they’re doing and what they have been doing for a LONG time now.
- Overpriced Gems.
- Currency Exchange (Less Gold for your Gems)
- Cosmetic Skins (Costs an arm. Doesn’t seem like much BUT does add up)
- Holiday events (Nothing is free anymore, event items have to be purchased)
- Items overpriced on Trading Post
- Very little content for biggest sum
I can’t think of any others off the top of my head but I’m certain others could continue this list.
EDIT 1:
Just for historical interest here is a thread about what people thought the price would be just after the announcement.
I figure I’d bring this point up because I read this in the posted link but Anet actually stated all it’s content would be free when the game first launched. They must have changed that in their terms of service as well?

If I recall, I remember Anet mentioning that ALL it’s content would ACTUALLY be free for GW2 a couple years back. I’m not sure why people even have to pay for this content to begin with.
There are tons of things that haven’t even been balanced yet for the original content and here they are adding this content we have to pay for? I’m really confused. I’m not saying I don’t dislike the idea of paying for content but it sounds hypercritical to me. I enjoy supporting devs that create the content I enjoy but when they won’t communicate with its fanbase, fix or balance content that has needed to be balanced for a long time now, then I’m left wondering how much my word and opinion actually means to Anet.

they have told us its for new players many times now but were too much in a rage to care they need to get money somehow obviously you don’t know how much a video game costs to make and the matter of transparency hah you don’t know business then they don’t have to tell us anything they could say oh yes this will happen and not give jack crap about what we say the fact Anet does care is that they are the rare exception to big business
Fanbase > Income > Anet
Must I say more. Your statement is ignorant and preposterous! Businesses, whether big or small, MUST listen to it’s fanbase if they are to make an income. That’s where all their money comes from.
Sure Anet could treat it’s customers like you stated but they would only become a mocked version of EA or Ubisoft and would lose the fanbase they have today.

Hey all,
We understand that there are many opinions and suggestions about the game versions and the pre-purchase program. We will continue to read your thoughts and thank you for sharing them.
Edit to add: We will share your input with the team.
Thank you for taking the time to read our feedback. Please DO NOT take it lightly. This game is already like 40 dollars brand new and those of us that have spent real money purchasing cosmetic items, gold, gems, etc. and have supported since Guild Wars 2’s launch should really only be paying like 10-15 for this expansion INCLUDING but not limited to 1-3 additional character slots for the Revenant class and the miniature Rytlock.

ANET, I’D HATE TO SAY IT IN CHAT BUT YOU DONE f&#@$*% UP HERE!
JUST TERRIBLE. First gem currency exchange and now THIS…. THIS…. THIIIIIISSSSSS…. I can’t stop cringing!!!!
This is an mmo, WE SHOULDN’T BE FORCED INTO PVP!!!! I know the game is called Guild Wars but the KEYWORD HERE IS “GUILD” Not player wars!
~_~¯*~~MONTHLY ACHIEVEMENTS~~¯~_~*
The only great way to keep myself preoccupied while I played. They are gone now! Who thought this was a great idea? Aren’t companies supposed to add features and NOT take them away. They are constantly taking features away while adding nothing in return. The terrible part is they don’t even communicate with the community EVER and STILL haven’t balanced rangers or any of the other classes.
You’re not forced into PVP. You can get max AP rewards without setting foot in PVP. The only extra rewards you get from doing the PVP dailies are specific to PVP, so they’re irrelevant if you don’t want to go in there. You’re no more forced to go into PVP as you were before. In fact, you’re less forced into PVP because you can get 10 AP without setting foot in PVP now. Before, you had to either do the PVP dailies or WVW dailies in order to get the same amount.
And the rewards from monthlies were rolled into the daily login, so they did give something back. In fact, better rewards were rolled into the daily login.
You should probably understand the system before complaining about it. I’d suggest reading their blog post on it, as it’s quite informative.
I understand my post may seem like i’m complaining but the title of the thread says feedback welcome. This is my feedback. I do think the new rewards that you get upon logging in are nice, BUT that’s it! I just got what I wanted and immediately I can logout because their is NOTHING to do. There are maybe 3 achievements for pve and the rest are either pvp or wvw. I enjoy pve and always have. Others may be able to still enjoy the game with these changes whereas some of us are content with pve and this is our only way of getting achievements.
I hold more firmly to my statement that Anet changes content frequently without testing it first in a beta. They have no communication and in order to find content to read, you have to dig through the haystacks to find it. I play league of legends and any change, EVEN if it’s tiny they announce it EVERYWHERE IMMEDIATELY -BEFORE- releasing it.

I am trying to get this achievement right now actually and I am having a similar issue except i keep dying when i land on the pile. I’ve tried 3 times and still haven’t gotten the achievement.
Ranger not even listed? What kinda sham is this?
I think another HUGE issue the ranger faces is the fact that they have NO AOE whatsoever. Sure they have barrage and the 2 ability for shortbow but that’s it? Ele is all AOE, warrior has deadly AOE, ranger single target. In WvW or this new event for instance, tab often selects someone that is already close to death. Rangers often miss out on loot and xp. Also this is not one of my biggest concerns, the same can be said about pvp and wvw. It is extremely important that a class is able to trade around the same amount of damage as another and be able to target their counter for the same amount of time; however, the ranger has a lot of difficulty with this. While a warrior can spam 1 without targeting an opponent and still land his/her hits or an ele can throw out aoe and hit his/her foes, a ranger just…. Can’t!
AOE is the most annoying issue I have with the ranger. Also Pet AI is another one.
I’ll be honest here. If arenanet decided to scrap these minions, pets, and etc… I would be OVERJOYED. As I see it, the rangers pet is more of a nuisance than any help (nerfing the ranger itself because they have a companion). Necromancers and engineers have way better builds than any of the MM and turrets build. But the biggest victims here are the rangers, I really wish arenanet would fix the pet or just completely scrap the whole mechanic because it’s just awful. Perhaps instead of using pets, rangers can learn their F1-F4 skills from observing nature and animals so they act more like utility skills. Or maybe make it so the pet isn’t something that follows you but a “summoned ally” that comes out, does its job, and disappears. But that’s just wishful thinking on my part. But I am pretty sure anything will be better than those pets.
I agree with this last paragraph. I would LOVE and I mean LOOOOOOVVVVVEEEE if they scrapped the pet and gave ranger f1-f4 attunements.
While changing out weapons skills might be a little much, I would love the idea of Preparations
That way you could prepare your arrows (through a short channel) to apply Poison, Burning or Chill for the next few shots.
Yes, or if they had them as skills.
Poison tipped arrows – 15 seconds 25 second cooldown or something along those lines.
Of course an adren bar would be a little more interesting. It fills up and grants you a choice of fire, frost or poison arrows for half a minute. You can toggle between them at will. On a 15-25 second cooldown. Of course time would be adjusted depending on if it made them too powerful or not.
I think rangers like snipers should be able to stay stealthed while they move to set up ambushes for their team. Get rid of the pet or make it work exactly on time like a weapon.
What if pets didn’t attack at all. They just stood next to your feet and the ranger could use their abilities as their own f1-f4 kinda like a spirit.
So… basically you are proposing that Rangers should use a slightly modified version of the Elementalist class mechanic instead of pets.
Personally, I would like to give Rangers a little bit of each class mechanic.
ex.
Access to weapon kits imbued with attunements that activate when you charge a full bar of adrenaline. Also, a lot more access to Stealth and Fear in utility.
I agree with you. Yes, to your first paragraph. If it is too much like the elementalist, maybe drop one of the attunements or change one or two of them altogether. I think obsidian arrows or something could replace frost in case it was too much like the ele. Obsidian causes bleeding damage.
I 100% Agree with the second paragraph. They cannot go stealth enough. I am not sure about the fear though just because I’m not sure exactly how that works besides causing enemies to flee when they are feared. Like the attunement idea as well after charge.

God no. Medium armor looks terrible in this game. I’ll keep my light armor thanks.
Love it! The only good one is the Tier 3 armor.
Its sad its only about ranger, because All class would need somes balance for the general gameplay..
- As long as Anet dont want invest time to offer news weapons skills, and open the build diversity ( by changing weapons skills like we change utility ), to have different possible combo for weapons, nothing will evolve, whatever the little trait change – skill damage – combo – CD you are going to try.
- Dealay weapons switching while in combat ( or element switch for the ele ) should not exist, or only 1-2sec. Like many other gameplay aspect it prevent more freedom. For that just look at the engi that can switch between the different kit with only 0.5sec delay, that’s very nice and offer good possibilities unlike all others class.
So, its not possible to only speak about ranger without speaking of many problem in the GW2 gameplay.
Although the classes are not evenly balanced at all, I still have to thank Anet for the amazing updates they add every other week. With that said though, does not mean I think they should ignore unmistakably bad classes and definitely should put more work into fixing classes rather than buffing and nerfing them.
Now onto the quote above. I definitely agree with these two paragraphs. The first one would be cool if they allowed players to change skills on the “Weapons” themselves. My point being, a warrior could have different skills using a greatsword than another warrior. Would be an interesting direction to try.
Secondly, weapon switching. The weapon is right on your back, or in our case back pocket. We can take time to fall back and heal during combat but we can’t switch weapons without waiting for 5-6 seconds? Not sure if the time is right. I just know it takes a long time. Would be nice to see it shortened a bit.
Lastly, every class could use a change or fix. I would love to see every class receive new skills and traits while keeping the previous ones they had, with the exception of ranger. I am not a fan at all of their skills and traits. It would open a huge window for players and it would be nice to see different spell and skill effects in combat.
I enjoy playing a ranger and elementalist as my mains and have been since I first started playing Guild Wars 2. With all the support going around for the ranger I couldn’t help myself from flipping out when I heard that the ranger was next for a rework. They definitely need it!
I began thinking about the skills and traits for the ranger and which ones should be fixed, *cough ahem all of them and immediately my elementalist came into my mind.
I thought a great idea for the ranger since pets seem to be a no go and are too dumb that rangers get attunements instead. It would be a nice and refreshing change and would add a LOT more diversity and builds among the class.
Poison – (Green Arrow Effects, Trails, etc.)
1 Poison Shot – You get the just, does what it’s supposed to. Deals a “little” less damage than the basic shot for regular arrows. Procs towards condition damage but power is still there.
2 Smoke Scream – AOE poison field that spreads outwards dealing more damage at the center, less damage on the outside.
3 Nauseating Fumes – Hits target and any nearby enemies. Can spread to other enemies dealing less and less damage until it neutralizes itself?
4 Gas Flask – AOE. Flask does more damage the further it travels. Explodes on the ground. (Green liquid spilling everywhere effect)
5 Wither – Toxin that eats away the opponent and steals their movement speed and grants it to you.
Fire – (Flaming arrows, red, trails, etc)
1 Burning Shot – Deals a “little” less damage than the basic shot for regular arrows.
2 Burning channel – Fires an arrow that leaves a channel of fire on the ground to it’s target area.
3 Inferno – Acts very much like ele lava font. Erupts in a location. AOE burns everything inside it.
4 Flares – Blinds enemies in AOE. Burns.
5 Spark – Teleport to target location.
Frost – (Frozen Arrow effect, trails, etc.)
1 Frozen Shot – Deals a “little” less damage than the basic shot for regular arrows.
2 Icicle – Arrow that is shot into the air and descends as frozen ice in a small AOE. AOE field cannot be seen by enemies.
3 Frostbite – Powerful basic attack.
4 Avalanche – AOE slow, damage over time. Ranger’s are stuck in place like Ele’s when casting Meteor Shower. (Snow falls in AOE effect)
Regular – (Regular Arrows)
1 Arrow Shot – Basic attack. Deals regular damage.
2 Tarnish – Regular attack. Enemies receive 10% more damage from your attacks. Maybe allies as well?
3 Punishment – Powerful Basic Attack that has 30%? chance to stun. Deals 150% damage.
4 Life Flight – Jump backwards and grants 20% increase movement speed for 10 seconds. Immediately wears off if ranger enters combat.
5 Cripple – Does % damage depending on enemies remaining health. Slows healing of enemy hit by cripple for 5 seconds.
This is my first attempt at creating skills like these so please remember that for criticism. I really enjoyed writing this list and hope you all enjoy reading it. It was really fun to create. Definitely feel free to reply.
[Edit 2/16/14] I realize that I did not include whether this would be for long bow or short bow. I am still uncertain myself which one it would be for but probably for long bow.
[Edit 2/17/14] Changing the skills for the long bow and short bow may be a bit too much. After reading the replies in this thread and deciding that having an adrenaline bar might be a little more realistic I decided that instead of having the skills above for the different attunements being permanent futures for the ranger, that they would become the skills you can use for LB & SB when your adrenaline becomes full.
Your adrenaline allows you to change attunements between fire, poison and frost freely for the duration of half a minute or so. Once it expires your adrenaline goes on a 15 second cooldown and can be activated again by staying in combat after the 15 seconds.
(edited by TheToxicFox.8710)
That should be on the CDI post.
Choose 1
A. Have use of a pet but lose 30% damage for your Ranger
B. Stow pet and get full damage for your RangerAnswer should also clarify what game play IE PvE, Dungeons, PvP, WvW
Choice man, it’s all about choice. Why not give Rangers the choice to use a pet or not?
Although this is logical I don’t think that it would be good for rangers. I think having a pet is what’s special about them and a pet or not shouldn’t reduce damage.
[Edit]
I came up with an idea today that I thought was awesome, wanted to bring it up.
I thought it would be cool if rangers could shapeshift into an animal and take advantage of it’s traits and skills.
Of course this would take an entire rework altogether and may be a little too confusing. Even so, I still thought it could be a cool idea.
Now that that figment of my imagination is off my chest, now I can talk about longbow abilities. I’ve been thinking lately that all the other classes have some form of aoe, whether it’s damage or utility, and I thought it would be interesting if rapid fire or an entirely new ability altogether went through it’s target and penetrated any enemies behind or in front of that target.
The reason I bring this up is because in my recent wvw match, with the amount of enemies there are and world battles getting as crazy as they can get, it can be very overwhelming trying to shoot anyone with a bow when you cannot shoot anyone without targeting them. Tab is useful only when there aren’t 5-10 dead enemies in wvw on the ground.
Also, an Ele’s meteor shower can deal 2000+ damage to ALL enemies hit inside it’s AOE as long as they remain inside of it. A ranger’s barrage for the long bow is a joke. ALL IT DOES IS CRIPPLE!!!! I think rangers should have an ability like the ele’s conjured frost bow, where they can rain down hell and deal the same damage to anyone inside that aoe field. Ranger NEEDS a LOT more AOE and not be single target!
Lastly before I go, was thinking about the Elementalist’s attunements and thought it would be great if rangers had similar attunements that would activate poison f1, fire f2, frost f3, regular f4 arrows. Each attunement would have different abilities.

Although, I do think the warrior is very powerful, I don’t think the problem is that they are over powered. It’s the fact that all the other classes aren’t equally balanced or completely weak.
Warrior is fine. I actually think their skills aren’t good enough. Banners are nice but there could be more useful skills in my opinion.
Hell, a lot of the problem is also from a lack of actual utility from both traits and utility skills AND the pet. The whole thing we call Ranger needs complete re-development because you cannot honestly sit there and tell me tweak this, tweak that (akin to “balancing”) when every single thing is so ridiculously out of sync or focus.
I like this last paragraph and AGREE 100%! Ranger needs to be completely remade.
I like the idea of fire, poison, ice arrows. I was expecting this when I looked into the ranger but was disappointed by “spirits” and “traps”!
I like the idea of pets but if they are going to reduce MY damage I would rather not have them at all.
I am glad to see rangers are getting so much love right now because THEY DO need some help. I wanted to throw in my 2 cents real quick because I know it’s only a matter of time before they get changed or fixed and I wanted others to see it from my perspective.
I enjoy playing ranger and have a lvl 80 ranger. I remember joining The Edge of the Mists, half a week ago and I couldn’t help but feel like I was… UNBEARABLY useless in any team fights. My pet was insta dead due to AOE’s and he/she wasn’t even in the fight yet, my damage was pathetic, and I had no crowd control besides my barrage which isn’t going to stop anyone from getting on top of you and to make matters worse had no flee’ing capabilities to escape once the enemy was. I just had to wave goodbye to my comrades with the convenient escape abilities and be bait. I think I just figured out what they’re good at! Dying and Baiting!
Now, I want to get into another topic. This time I want to talk about spirits and traps.
Traps – I understand how traps work, they are barely convenient and can be sort of helpful; however, in wvw they do not contribute enough damage or cc for a fight. To add, when these traps are triggered they cannot make game changes in a fight. To finish with traps, I am ok with a few ranger skills being traps… Ahem, wouldn’t mind if they removed them completely; however, since it is a ranger class and traps are bound to stay I think they should remove most of the traps and have only 2-3.
Spirits – Now onto spirits. WHY?! They contribute nothing astonishing to a team fight and are dumbed with health and aoe utility. In my opinion, DESTROY them and remove them from the game. Rangers should be long range assassins and not be in the “middle” of a team fight placing spirits. I thought they used a bow, not scepter and focus. Same goes for traps.
Pet A.I. – Not much needs to be said here. Everyone is already talking about it.
Now if anyone disagrees with my reply just understand now that this is a personal opinion from my personal hands on experience with this class.
This is all I can think of right now but if more comes to mind I will be sure to edit this post.
[Edit] I just read Atherakhia’s post. I have to agree with his last 3 paragraphs.
“Before we worry about crunching numbers or fixing traits though, this class doesn’t even have the basic tools to keep it a contender in this game.
It needs some form of burst.
It needs some form of AE.
It needs F2 responsiveness.
It needs pets to work in larger group settings.
No reason to even worry about how half the traits are awful or how the vast majority of our utility skills aren’t worth using until you invest 30 into a tree until the class itself has the tools it needs to function.”
I agree with his entire reply but these last 3 paragraphs couldn’t be more true!

I think the warrior feels very solid where it is right now so I will not say it needs a dps reduction.
I am glad to find so many people on these forums supporting the ranger because the past couple days I have grown super frustrated with the class.
I don’t want to get too crazy with text so i will just explain:
The ranger needs a HUGE Buff! In fact I think they need an entire rework. The pet AI is ridiculous! I can’t use my pets abilities anytime I want, let alone swap the f2 ability out!!! I never understood why they show us our pets abilities when WE “Can’t use them”!
Secondly, Ranger’s DPS is xD lol lmao haha, must I say it… Haaaaaaaaaaa… But Seriously… Not good!
Thirdly, Spirits? If rangers could undertake a supportive role in gw2 then spirits would make a little more sense; however, since the ranger has no other skills or traits to glorify these spirits, they are out of place and just taking up space when more viable skills could exist.
Before I go, I think Ele’s are a little weak too. I don’t like how I am forced to play a supportive healing role when I want to deal damage; although, I would love an option to toggle between EX: (Water Attunement) [healing SUP] and [ice damage DPS].
