For those that like the daily:

I feel obligated to do it, beacause of the laurel. You might like it. I don’t. At least remove the laurel reward. OR this:

If you could save up 3-7 dailies and knock them out altogether I would have 0 issues with dailies.

Rift did it right.

For those that say, you don’t need Ascended Gear:

PVE:
I did some dungeons on green and blue items when the game launched. Its possible. But when there is a gear threadmill if you are a dedicated player, the most likely scenario is “i want that to increase my DPS/healing and be more effective”
Same with racing games, do you really need the best car with the best upgrades? Probably not, but you still want it.

PVP:
And for WvW is essential, if you want to dedicate yourself to it. its above 10% increase. Its PvP. Those > 10% WILL matter.

Mind you, i don’t want free gear (five runs for a piece of gear would still require several dungeon runs). Although i don’t like gear threadmills im not saying to remove it. Just asking to make that climb fun. Cause i have no desire whatsoever to do it. Terribly implemented.

For those saying Spvp is an after thought:

Then why does Anet keep talking about Esports, Esports, Esports?

As for sPvP down state isn’t a problem. The problem from a spectator watching the game it is hard to follow everything and it is soo quick that some times it is hard for shoutcasters to say what is going on or there isn’t much to say. What is needed is like a medium sized map with different objective types, secondary objectives that you have to capture in order to activate its benefits. Make it so that there is more space and time between stuff so that strategy plays a big role, people can see movements, small fights, new roles have a purpose. This gives an opportunity for everyone to absorb the information and really see dynamically how the game is progressing. The current small maps are hard to follow because everything happens really fast.

Still disagree on downed state, it is a problem. Anet often talks about LoL or Dota. Those games like it or not, reward skill. Its impossible with downed state to reward skill. Aside from that, those are some good points.

And for those saying, “don’t act like it is all easy to implement”.

If it isn’t then don’t throw new content in the garbage after two weeks.
Some of the stuff im asking i know its hard. But those first three complains. Are easy to solve.

Btw, this is all my personal take. Therefore the “imo” in the title

Were the complaints valid? Yes.
Does that invalidate anything of what i said? No.

I gave a much more diversed, and fun way to get gear. Where is your opinion on that? Those complaints were solved. And i did not say the best course of action is to remove ascended. So i don’t know why you are talking about old complains that were attended to…

Also no, i did not make the “entire game’s population all shares one set of values”. Do you see that in the title? imo -> In my opinion.

You would say: “But guys its innovative! No other company as done this. We should all be proud that we have new things to do, like run for our lives and scream in fear. I find it quite enjoyable! I know that GW1 didn’t have a inter-dimensional-portal with killer aliens, buts a its a new era! We gotta keep up with the times. So stop hating!”

You keep saying the complaints were valid. Which ones? The ones that agree with you or the ones that contradict you. You’re making it sound like the people who wrote stuff similar to you had valid complaints. I’m saying there were also complaints that had different even opposite opinions from some of theirs. I’m asking a simple question. Were those opposing complaints valid?

You have no idea what I’d say because it’s 100% clear to me you don’t get me at all. However, after refusing to answer my actual question more than once, I’m pretty sure that most people reading now get you.

Both are valid.

Please explain how they contradict with one another, in any way shape or form.

This game has NOTHING to do with gw I, so put aside those notions/nostalgia.

1 daily? Come on, if you don’t have time to finish a daily then you do not have a place in any game as dailies might take you an hour if you play with your feet.

I am not going to address your other inane suggestions as I want to save some lols for later hehe

The notion is just one. Its called Guild Wars 2. I don’t want a carbon copy of GW1 mind you. But at the very least i would expect guild wars in my Guild Wars 2.

Dailies

I can’t say I have the same problem. More often than not, my daily gets done without looking at the requirements. Of course, this would vary from person to person, ranging from how they play to their mindset, but all in all, I think calling it a ‘chore’ is a bit out there.

Ascended

I don’t have any particularly strong feelings about these.

However, rings, amulets and accessories can be gotten through Laurels(and ecto’s for accessories), or Gold and Guild Commendations.

Backpacks and infusing are the only thing you need to do Fractals for.

As for weapons, I can see your PoV, so we’ll leave it at that.

In terms of alt-unfriendliness, I agree with you.

As for the rest, I’ll comment later.

And yes… guild commendations. My small guild of friends is dead long ago thanks to that decision ;_;

So ALL the complaints for ALL those months were legitimate. Does that include the complaints that there wasn’t enough vertical progression in the game, and that people didn’t have stuff to work for?

Dont see the problem either. GW1 had a daily/weekly/monthly system too, people just like to ignore that fact when complaining about them in GW2. Fact is they are bloody easy to get, and 90% of the time I I have them done without even looking at the catagories.

Cause in GW1 you don’t feel obligated here you do. Laurels.

Just FYI, MA and AR are going to become fractals. From what I heard, at least.

Its better than nothing. But still not the best option once again.

I wanna do MA. Lets enter FOTM, and “hope” its one of the three.

Because, now the dungeons i wish to do are also RNG based.

Mind you, i don’t have anything against adding new dungeons from time to time to FOTM…

But id like to have a new dungeon outside of the initial ones and FOTM.
Its new stuff on old content.

The time depends on the dailies available. And again, they don’t add much. Also its boring and redundant content.

I made this post because i care.
I made this post because i am disappointed on the way the game is heading.
I made this post because it would be easy to solve 90% of the wining in the forums.

No really it is. Remember when the game come out? Sure there was constructive criticism,
but people were giving Anet a change to improve, because the game was FUN. It was not wining.
It was not bashing the game, it wasn’t hate. Just feedback, and lots of posts from happy costumers.

I have stop playing. I just lurk in the forums, trying to see some new cool feature added.
Why? Because the game, feels like a chore, its boring.

I love it when it came out, it was really really fun. Sure there were problems.
But you can overlook problems if its fun. Well it stopped being fun.

Here’s my take on what it should be done, in order to get that old feeling back.

Dailies:

It feels like a chore. It takes way to long. Sure i can ignore it, but there goes my laurels…
Just make it ONE task. Yes i know its easy and really fast. But what’s the point of log in,
do the dailies and get out? This was what i was doing before i left. Again, its boring.

I belive the point of the daily is to give a reason for someone to log in. With one task you still give
them reason, and after that they can actually “play the game” instead of getting burn out.

Ascended gear:

Yes this was a slap in the face to GW1 fans. Ascended should just have been really cool skins…
But that’s not the worst part.
That brings two problems:

-> First

Its really boring to get it.

For accessories you need to do FOTM, until exaustion.
For weapons, farm maths, then craft.

Boring.

-> Second

You just made the most Alt unfriendly game in existence to mankind.
Oh i know, there are more grindy games. But they don’t have time gated crafting, nor laurels per day.
And its still grindy.

How to solve it?

Let me get ascended weapon’s and accessories, and in the future ascended armor, by doing what i like.

Dungeons:
At the end of the dungeon i get tokens, and then i trade those tokens for gear and weapons.
Every 5 runs you get a weapon or a piece or gear.

Jumping puzzles and exploring the world:
For every map completion you also get tokens, or by doing jumping puzzles.

Events in the world:
After x amount of events completed, not failed, you get tokens.

WvsW:
By doing WvsW events and killing people.

And of course crafting, but not with time gated, or with increased craft level, that’s just boring.

Living story:

First the content you are producing is top notch. You deserve praise for it.
At least the content i could play. Because some of it i missed it…

And there’s the problem.

After one year, what is the new content you got? The Kraka zone, and FOTM.

Oh yeah sure, new path in an OLD dungeon. And a revamp of an OLD boss. (I think its ok, but not new)
The new stuff? almost all removed.

Removing good quality content from an MMO, is pure insanity. Please stop.

IF you change this, most of the complains will dissapear i guarantee it. And they are so easy to solve.

Also consider this few suggestions:

Add Guild vs Guild.
Add more dungeons.
Add more pvp maps.
Add more skills to the weapons (maybe 2 or 3 sets per weapon)
Add more weapons.
Add new classes and races.
Add new map zones.
Add new dynamic events.

Also before even thinking in Esports, removed downed state from Spvp.
Why?

You know that feeling, when you, or someone you are watching, completely owns 3 players at the same time
And emerges victorious with 10 hp? Well not in GW2… Those guys are gonna throw rocks at you
until you fall, die and ress them. And there goes any kind of rewarding skilled players.

This game got a lot of potential, don’t throw it out of the window…

From a GW1 fan, and a GW2 concerned player.

This should be post of the year. I am 100% against gear threadmill. But this is something i may actually do (in the long term).

Its something new, its something fun. I like it!

I would only make at least the BiS armor/weapons be dropable in dungeons or by tokems at the end of the dungeon. Since im not a fan of crafting and WvW. So i could getting my gear doing what i like.

Also, new dungeons permanent to game (with new armor skins) as well as mini games and stuff. And the game would be perfect.

Well its me again. I lowered everything on GW2. Graphics are on medium / low or even lowest.

I run the game today again. Ah well 30 secs BSOD. It cant be the temperatures or whatever. I run every single game well. I run everything on max or ultra settings (unless its summer).

Its the only game that does this to me. And again, i play the game fine on max settings during the open beta weekends and the time that follow it….

I dont know. Its unplaybale right now.

Thanks for all the help, but my computer is cristal clean. It has the minimal amount of dust. Also its well built.

So i cant play right now, after one hour or so, blue screen and computer restarts. The only game where this happens is GW2. Don´t know whats happening. I formated my computer recently and everything is up to date. This bug happened the first time about 4 mounths ago. I stop playing and returned now. Bug is still here.

The strange thing is when the game launched everything was fine.

Since my thread got closed, didn’t see this one =P im gonna post my feeling about the
temporary content.


I was one of those guys who was really hyped about gw2, really hyped, played all the beta tests minus one.

Love the game until the ascended gear introduction that i really dislike… So after a while i took a break and i decided to return now.

I ask some of my friends, whats new and exciting now.

Friend: "Oh dude there’s this really awesome dungeon, SUPER ADVENTURE BOX " it even got a trailer so awesome".

Me: “Oh man cool ,where can i find it?”

Friend: “Oh its gone now, they remove it.”

Me: “What? Really?”

Friend: “But there’s a brand new dungeon, lets do it!”

After a while we finish the dungeon

Friend: “That was awesome, and you are lucky that dungeon is gonna get removed soon too!”

Me: “WHAT? WHY?”

Really, why remove cool stuff, i get the Halloween and Christmas only content.

But why remove those 2? Because of the limited drops? Then keep the dungeon and remove those drops…

I really wanna play and enjoy this game, please Anet, don’t remove the cool and fun stuff.

Think a moment… if these things never left, we’d have more and more stuff building up and being run less and less. They’d get old, boring and vacant. This will have the effect of keeping things fresher. Just think, when they announce a return of the SAB it’ll be something anticipated.

That doesn’t make any sense… Now after some months i have returned and one new dungeon got removed, and the other got a few days left… So the game is in the same state as before. No reason to keep playing.

So, after the new dungeon get removed im guess im going away again. No new content pve wise.

I don’t get how this will keep it fresh, its not fresh its gone. Now we won’t do it because we don’t wanna. We won’t do it because we can’t. And that’s bad.

The more stuff out there, the less people run each thing. That’s why people have trouble getting runs for certain dungeons.

I mean you can always get runs for like CoF path 1. But not so easy to always get runs for SE path 3, or HoTW path 2.

By making this dungeon temporary, people flock to it and do it. And the best rewards from the dungeon, which are rare, have a great deal more value this way.They can introduce this cool jet pack and only a few people will ever get it. It increases their value exponentially.

So if you’re lucky enough to get one you can keep it (like I would) or put it on the marketplace. The mini goes for a lot too.

And there’s going to constantly being new stuff coming out. This isn’t the last thing we’ll see. There’ll be something new every month.

Then why not remove those drops and keep the dungeon?

I think they’re trying to test out content to see how they can make the world feel more ‘alive’ in that it changes and isn’t constantly the same. This new temporary dungeon (the living story) is the first of its kind, so I think of it mostly as a big experiment to see how well it’s received and whether or not it accomplishes the goal they had in mind for it. As for the Super Adventure Box, I have my suspicions that it will be making a return next year around this time, perhaps with additional levels and weapon skins… but all of this is just my own speculation, haha.

But it doesn’t really feel alive to me. Adventure box is dead :’(

Why my new groups will be Heavy Only (Mostly)

Going to make all CoE groups “Melee-only”. Why? Anyone with Alpha exp knows, if you res a person out of melee range, you might as well sign your death wish. 1 hit AOE, combined with crystals that freeze you = Melee only way to go.

No, there is no need… 0 need for that.
The 1 hit AoE can be dodge if you time it right.
Mesmers and Thiefs can get out of the cristals….
Even if you have a ranger hitting ranged, if he gets cristalized, just go there and break the crystal… Sure its more work but also possible.
Btw the boss jumps before casting the crystal prison, so its also dodgeble

CoF path1? You already know its Melee only with 1 mesmer

Well for the fastest speedrun? yes.
You can do that in under 12 min with any setup, i’m being generous on the 12 min mark… that’s the easiest path in the whole game…

Fractals? You best believe it. Look on gw2lfg already, you see Perfer Guard/War or Heavy pls.

You can do Fractal with any setup. ANY.
Now in truth a guardian do help alot.

TA? You think im going to risk dying and being kicked for failing on a light armor? Sorry, heavy has more armor aka more chance to live.

Its also possible, TA is not hard. You don’t need to be a warr to live through a run.

WHY HEAVY THOUGH? Tanky Dps. All other classes must decide either support or DPS.Heavy classes can melee, do support and DPS at once. Overall balanced.

Wrong. SO wrong.

Warriors and Guardians are baby mode in PvE, I agree in that regard.
Now saying that these are the only viable classes? please…

Also the only place in the game thats a DPS check, its arah path 4
I did it, with 1 warr, 1 ranger, 1 elem, 2 thiefs…

I have to farm daily’s for a month to get a ascended necklace… or even more for a ring in case i don’t wanna do fractals

And i know i could make the pvp daily… but i dont wanna do pvp

How are we suposed to do cof path 2 now?

I for one am extremely glad that they have removed this extremely stupid mechanic. It basically encourages the mindset that every encounter in a dungeon is just a time buffer, because you can’t lose, you just waypoint and run back. What happened to challenge in games? What do you people actually find fun about autoattacking, dying, and then zerging right back there? Is this honestly enjoyable to you people? I see the WoW generation has been relying on having bigger numbers to get through fights, now you actually have to (shock! Horror) play better.

I do CoF every single day with my guild, and in path 2 i always kill the mobs, its really easy for full exotic people with a good DPS.

Try know with a pug with green items… this is supposed to be doable for new players too.

My problem is not the difficulty. i think some dungeons are way to easy like cof path 1, or AC.

So why not buff the bosses? with harder mechanics, disable WP seems like a bad ideia.

Try doing a level 80 dungeon with an unprepared, ungeared and unwilling group? Now why would I want to do that, am I trying to fail?

I can’t believe anyone supports waypoint zerging. It’s like you’re trying to make dungeon running robotic.

Its a level 75 dungeon… its supposed to be doable by lvl 75…

Well then do it. Stop relying on having bigger stats to win fights and start using tactics and teamwork. There are 5 people in a dungeon, you know.

YES, that’s what i want! I don’t want to see dungeons being about stats, i want them to be about skill, no wp do not promote more skill, it promotes gear.

That doesn’t even make any sense.

Well better gear better stats, so less time fighting, therefore less change of someone dying and laying there for the rest of the fight. So people with better gear will have the edge.
And i know that’s its as its always been, BUT you could compensate being obliterated by a one shot skill by using wp.

For example, the low levels and low geared guys, they get four people down in cof path 2. But one of them manages to hold all the enemies from killing magg, because hes skilled until help arrives.

Not anymore, they are gonna wipe.

Meanwhile exotic and up geared people are turning enemies to dust.

IMHO, not fair.

Its not gonna make my life worse in cof, but for people starting, it sure is.

YES, that’s what i want! I don’t want to see dungeons being about stats, i want them to be about skill, no wp do not promote more skill, it promotes gear.

How are we suposed to do cof path 2 now?

I for one am extremely glad that they have removed this extremely stupid mechanic. It basically encourages the mindset that every encounter in a dungeon is just a time buffer, because you can’t lose, you just waypoint and run back. What happened to challenge in games? What do you people actually find fun about autoattacking, dying, and then zerging right back there? Is this honestly enjoyable to you people? I see the WoW generation has been relying on having bigger numbers to get through fights, now you actually have to (shock! Horror) play better.

I do CoF every single day with my guild, and in path 2 i always kill the mobs, its really easy for full exotic people with a good DPS.

Try know with a pug with green items… this is supposed to be doable for new players too.

My problem is not the difficulty. i think some dungeons are way to easy like cof path 1, or AC.

So why not buff the bosses? with harder mechanics, disable WP seems like a bad ideia.

Try doing a level 80 dungeon with an unprepared, ungeared and unwilling group? Now why would I want to do that, am I trying to fail?

I can’t believe anyone supports waypoint zerging. It’s like you’re trying to make dungeon running robotic.

Its a level 75 dungeon… its supposed to be doable by lvl 75…

My problem is CoE… i know they nerfed his HP…
But there is always someone that dies…

This game is fine without them. We dont need them and most dont want them.
If you want mounts go back to “that other game”

Please stop trying to make this game a clone of “that other game”

What other game? i know what you are hinting at, but “that other game” was not the first game to have mounts nor fly mounts, Lineage II got that before. And pretty much every single MMO got mounts.

“that other game” didnt do almost nothing new… it just took concepts from other games and improve them.

You probably dont want world bosses? or gear? or gathering? or leveling? or chat? or mail? or transmogriph? or dungeons? or instanced areas?

Really mounts arent a exclusive content from a single game, its everywhere…

And yes for mounts, absolutely no reason not to.

I’m for cosmetic mounts or a mostly cosmetic mounts. With a few cool-down skills to help players escape from small mobs.

Some think players on mounts skip over content and don’t contribute to the waypoint gold sink.
*But I think players using waypoints skip over more content then mounts. Because if you are on a mount, you are exploring the world. And the time it takes to go from one zone to the next is lost income.

U explore it even less than with WP, if u would get benefit of speed, you would make blitzkrieg trough the continent… When you use WP you at last run around. ( in ever game you had town portals as i remember, so they had WP on some way)
And what they did? Skip and blitzkrieg… (Gaming in the speed of flash)

I already got the benefit of speed, my warr got 2 movement skills in his GS and a elite swiftness signet. Thief got a signet that gives him 25% movement speed (passive), plus some other skills like heartseeker, that allows him to jump around…

Problem is some classes like mesmer only got a blink, and the focus weapon speed boost (you may consider the staff AoE that gives random boons… but that’s not reliable).

So some classes go warp speed across the map while others have to go really slow.
Just put mounts in the game and problem solved.

And maybe keep them out of PvP, and city’s. But for exploration? YES, its just not fun walking through every single map on my alts again… its boring.

And also, the great war hero of tyria, the guy who helped kill Zhaitan! Who led the troops to victory, and got the worlds best weapons and armor, needs to walk? he cant buy a horse or something?
