Putting 40 exotic level 80 Staffs into the Mystic Forge and guess what happened?

Regardless how many GW2 players are willing to defend the current system as it stands; numerous players who bought the game have already quit playing for one reason or another. The methods required to obtain the legendary weapons certainly turn me off the game. People who are willing to spend large amounts of real-money buying GW2 gold clearly have some kind of advantage here. If you are going to argue that the Legendary items are just cosmetic upgrades, I think you are looking at it the wrong way.
I’m with the OP here, the Mystic Forge cheapens the game-play experience!
I’m spending more of my time playing LOTRO now, I can afford their subscription fees easier than I can afford GW2 Gems.

trading post is completely non-functional for me tonight; impossible to buy or sell anything.
I can see sell orders, however the buy and place order buttons are greyed out.
EDIT: Relogging seems to fix the problem.

after restarting my system the launcher is running.
after the update my launcher will no longer run. Can’t get back into the game. Nice work guys.
what was the clue for Serena exactly, i didn’t get it? She says something about a hay loft though.
Still looking for some active and social players to fill out our ranks.
Has anybody found a holiday event in the game today? It was supposed to begin today.
Has anybody figured out what our mysterious monthly achievement is all about yet?
Of course the cash shop will work for ANet because 10% of the player-base can spend virtually unlimited amounts of real-money on it. The players with deeper pockets are getting a little bit more than a cosmetic advantage IMHO.
Most companies that are using the cash-shop business model are willing to give their client away for free, and depend on that cash shop for all their profits.
I’ve opened 18 of the Black Lion Chests since the chests were patched and I didn’t get anything interesting out of them, not even another key! I’m guessing that they’ve removed the keys from the chests or changed the odds of getting them. 10 of my 18 keys were bought with Gems, 8 were earned by playing the game.
I’ve already dropped over $100 in real-money on a gamble to create one pre-cursor weapon, which failed.
Just like real-life, I find that the gold is much easier to spend than make or save. It doesn’t really matter to me if that gold disappears into one of the many gold-sinks or into another players pockets, the results are the same.

Runescape always has had special holiday items, anyone who participates in the event can get those items. Arguably Jagex has been very successful with that game, they still manage to sell enough memberships even though non-members can get the holiday items as well.
I can cite what other companies have done successfully, but of course it doesn’t prove that a different strategy will be unsuccessful. I’m just saying that the business strategy may be unsuccessful in my case, and i’m not likely alone.

Especially if there’s real money involved. ANet has chosen to design gambling into their game, it’s a part of acquiring all those Legendary Weapons. And it’s definitely a part of rare items only to be found within Black Lion Chests, where real-money is more likely to be involved.
I know it would be bad for me If I start buying Gems to get in-game gold, that’s one thing that would easily break my gaming budget. While I should be old enough, and wise enough to control my spending habits, I’m not always successful. If it becomes a problem, I may be forced to decide that I can’t afford to play this game, and that would be a shame because inspite of a few complaints, I really love this game.
I’ve had to make that decision about several other games, with cash shop perks, in the past. With more and more MMOG’s making the move to this business model, I may just have to give up MMOG’s entirely for my own good.
I know that Turbine has a pretty good F2P offering with LOTRO, you can earn all the cash shop perks by playing the game. But i just don’t like that game as much. :-)
In LOTRO you can’t buy and sell in-game money, the folks at Turbine are smarter than that!
I can easily predict that the introduction of cash Gem cards, will open up a path for players to buy and sell gems without using the Black Lion Trading Company.

I’m sure a whole lot of people managed to get through that content the way it is but, for a level 15 mesmer in mediocre gear its impossible. What level do i really need to be in order to finish this level 10 quest; 35 in rare gear? Maybe I just need some help, but I don’t think I should need help.
The lack of comments is better than flames I suppose, but it doesn’t help the folks at ArenaNet decide to take action.
This quest step is just stupidly too hard. It’s hard to the extent that I can not finish the quest by myself, and I don’t think this is a problem with my skill. This NPC Doc Howler shouldn’t even be part of the quest; she was supposedly arrested in the previous quest, which was also a bit too hard. At least the previous personal story quest could still be won after a few deaths, but this one can not. I can not beat Doc Howler’s poison and she resets every-time i go down, so it’s completely impossible for me to win. This is a level 10 personal story quest and I don’t think I should need to get help with it, nice job guys.
I was able to solo all my personal story quests on my Norn Elementalist, up to the first level 80 quest, beyond that I got help. And I’ve been able to solo all my personal story quests on a Charr Guardian up to level 60, which is as far as I’ve gone. Why make the game harder for human characters? I just don’t understand it.
Logan Thackery isn’t smart enough to notice that I’m dying out there and never comes to my rescue. Obviously he was dumb enough to let Doc Howler go, when he knew that they were going to try to kill me. And all this after I let my best friend die for the cause! It just doesn’t make sense.
I’m seeing your suggestion forum in German, even though the EN is clearly selected at the top of the page. Individual topics in that forum can not be opened and return an error message.
I know in Guild Wars some of the skills worked differently or didn’t work at all in PvP. Seems that in this game, any nerfs meant to balance the sPvP game will affect PvE play as well.
Casting time on glyph of renewal is way too long. I never noticed it working on dead players but maybe it was never fully working as intended.
Well at least that limit was more than enough for a full set of the 80 elite Karma armors. Wonder why they changed it, is it even possible that someone was close to 1,000,000 Karma?
Is there any kind of speed boons for Guardians? I didn’t see anything in my list of skills that would grant swiftness. Is there a trait perk or something that does this for guardians?
Most of the content depends on having other players around, not many events scale down enough to be soloable. A few of them were soloable for myself as an elementalist, and most of the skill point challenges can be soloed by an ele with the Glyph of Elementals for tanking support.
Pretty much all classes are able to do what you’re asking, it really just depends on what style of play you prefer.
What is the maximum Karma limit? anyone know?
Or does anyone know what it was before today’s patch?

Metal Sun aims to be a guild for all things Guild Wars 2, with no specific focus.
We have over 70 members and still trying to grow.
I’m trying to have enough players so that we do not favor a particular time-zone; with people logged in 24/7. Still a majority of our members are prime-time east-coast players.
The guild leader is a veteran of MMOG’s and PC games in general with over 20 years of personal experience. I believe in a principle called, ‘basic human dignity,’ which tells me that everyone deserves to be treated with respect. I try to keep inter-personal drama to a minimum in our guild communications channels. I’m mostly retired in real-life so that I have lots of free-time to spend on my gaming hobby; I may be logged in during any hours of the day. It’s not unusual for me to be spending 12+ hours per day, even on weekdays, so in terms of play-time the GM is very hardcore.
We do have a Teamspeak3 server, we do not have 100% participation in voice comms, but I would like to see more people using it. With a potential member limit of 500, I believe that we have room for some of the more casual players, but of course we want see active members representing the guild. Registration at our website will insure that members who retire from the game will always have a guild to come back to, and it’s a requirement for promotion within the guild.
Our site at http://metalsun.guildlaunch.com hosts a forum and has a provision for members to list all their in-game characters. Currently we do not have guild members playing other games, the guild is focused on Guild Wars 2 only. Metal Sun has a long history in other games, and did exist in Guild Wars, however we did not retain any members to begin playing GW2 with us.
I have never been particularly skilled at PvP games, and my system specs are proabably not as good as they should be to do all that. I have at least tried some of the sPvP and I know that I can do well enough to earn Glory and rank, which is not saying very much.
If you’re more interested in PvP gameplay, then I hope that you’ll still be able to find a home within Metal Sun.
Most of our members are interested in End-Game content which includes the desire to acquire dungeon tokens. I’d like to recruit more members with the skills required to help us achieve these end-game goals. We are also interested in WvW and Badges of Honor, some of us are more focused on that aspect of the game, while most of our members are still working to reach level 80 with a main toon.
Also I have a personal interest in methods most useful in accumulating in-game gold; since Gold = Gems. I’m sure most of us would be happier players if we can get our Gems from within the game without spending our hard-earned dollars. Clearly it would be very helpful to have sums of coin available for the the gambling game which is the mystic forge, in any hope of acquiring those pre-cursor weapons.
So if your interest in Guild Wars 2 is long-term, and you want to experience all the content that the game has to offer, we have a place for you within Metal Sun.

Well the wiki does have map images.
Ebony is pretty close to black on some items and it’s a starter color.
I believe that the wiki is counting a couple dyes from the beta that may have been removed for the release.
On the elementalist, 10 pts in Air Magic & the IV trait perk will get you max speed most of the time while attuned to air. I don’t believe you can exceed 33% total boost, theoretically the ele can achieve 45% boost by equipping signet of Air, if everything stacked. Using Windborn speed on top of the trait perks will not actually make you run any faster but it does remove crippled condition.
(edited by Token.6501)
that’s probably the one in Knut Whitebear’s loft, a separate instance.
the wiki site has region names listed, you may be missing some of the jumping puzzle areas which are pretty well hidden.
There is also a hidden area near tail of the serpent, “Lair of the Coil”.
It’s in Timberline falls and you have to swim through an underground passage and turn east through some seaweeds.
Having 100% of the explorer achievements may not get you the Gifts of Exploration, if so you may need to revisit the Chantry of Secrets even if you already got the POI there.

If you’re not careful you can order a lot more items than you intended.
I’m not really seeing any advantages when using my black lion tools.
So i’m guessing there is some kind of anti-farming code for events as well as everything else as I’m seeing my rewards reduced here.
leveling tradeskills is a gold sink in itself, there’s no profit in it.
I believe the reasoning has more to do with monitoring the real-world trading issue.
I’m sure they have enough gold-sinks; just wait until player-housing and guild-halls come along.
(edited by Token.6501)
We need a method to trade player to player which is secure.
We need this as an alternative to using the Trading Post in order have a way to avoid paying all the transaction taxes.
Releasing an MMOG without such a feature is pretty ridiculous.
The mail system, while it may be more easily monitored for large exchanges of game currency from real-world powerleveling operations, is not a good substitute for direct and secure trading.
Someone will no doubt respond to this and say that we need to learn to ‘trust’ other players; but that is nonsense. There should be a method that’s verifiable and both parties can see exactly what they are getting in the exchange.
How many of us has ever had the power to change human nature, if they had the desire to do so? We can mostly only change our own opinions, and naturally such things will change as a person gains more personal experience in life. While we may make the observation that many people behave with less maturity than ourselves; perhaps we can allow that they will have enough time to grow out of it. None of us has the capacity for perfect knowledge, due to natural limitations we all lack some factual knowledge about reality. If we could ever be more informed about conditions, perhaps it would become arguable that all manner of human behavior is somehow justifiable. As the Taoist says, “the soup is just right,” the world is exactly what it should be. Our expectations have no special power to make it different.
How do you figure it’s half-made? It’ll never be finished.
There’s a playable game here with content that goes well beyond reaching the level cap.
I’m not done with it yet. Being a guild leader may keep me involved for a while to come.
I suspect that the developers at ArenaNet will continually make changes to the game in an effort to improve it. Inevitably some of those changes will prove to be unpopular. From a player’s point of view, the only thing required for the game to be successful is that it continues in operation. The employees of ArenaNet will most likely continue to collect their paychecks despite some fall-out of the player-base. Certainly this game could be more or less successful in garnering profits for the company; but there’s no pleasing all of the customers all of the time. I’m spending no more time or money on it than i’m willing to spend, but i’m still willing to spend more time.
The rewards from playing GW didn’t exactly pile up quickly, very meager rewards that were primarily junk loots. Your blues and greens here are worth about what the NPC will pay you for them. I guess the rewards from daily and monthly achievements are primarily the achievement points. Your mystic coins can be used to unlock some items and recipes with the mystic forge, i’m sure they’re worth more than the few coppers you could sell em for.

Being level 80 makes all the PvE and WvW content a little easier. Plus you can get some elite dungeon gear with far less than 300hrs worth of grinding. I don’t buy the argument that its only a PvP game.
As a Norn Ele i’m only disappointed that none of my elites work underwater.
It’s never been a PvP game for me, but i’m not easily bored either. It’s always possible to retire from the game and try something else for a while; with your lifetime membership it’s very easy to come back to GW2. The people who persevere will end up with some kinds of advantages i’m sure. It’s a fair certainty that the game will change because that’s what developers need to do to keep earning their paychecks. At this point in time I’m pretty sure there are some outstanding goals in the PvE game, that few if anyone has achieved. With over 2 million clients sold, ArenaNet is fairly successful with Guild Wars 2 already, i’m sure the game will still be here for many more years to come.
(edited by Token.6501)
Seem’s to me like there is plenty of end-game content here; you just need to pace yourself through it. Is there really any glory for being first or fastest in Guild Wars 2 PvE?
We shouldn’t have to transmute our dungeon gear in order to get the stats we want, I agree with the OP.
I’ve heard there is a problem with the AC weapon skins when transmuted they might stop glowing at night.
Of course its more advantageous to AreanNet in terms of Gem sales if we do need to purchase fine transmutation stones.
I don’t really care how fast or easily some other people are able to get their dungeon gear sets, so long as i’m still able to get it myself eventually.
Some of the dungeon EM runs don’t look doable from my point-of-view, and since there’s currently no tokens for incomplete runs the situation is not good for me. Over half the groups i’ve been in had one or more persons drop out before reaching the end; and a few of my groups unanimously gave up! Nobody goes into these things with the intent to fail, blaming it all on in-experience or poor skill seems like pretty shallow elitism to me.
PVE games aren’t meant to be played competitively; they’re played for enjoyment, as such the content should be accessible by the majority of players. I have over 20 years of personal experience with MMOG’s and PC games in general; I think my opinion is more expert than people who are saying this content shouldn’t be PUG’able.
(edited by Token.6501)
The offer doesn’t do us much good if you’re on the wrong server, with the non-functional guesting system.
I don’t see why you should ever get as few only 5 tokens for a single full dungeon run, no matter how many time you’ve done it in a day.
Edited post: for some unknown reason i was being kittened.
(edited by Token.6501)
One run of AC path #3 with my guildmates, unable to finish the run, Zero tokens rewarded.
One run of AC path #1, unable to finish the run, Zero tokens rewarded.
Joined an Arah run partially completed, unable to finish boss fight, Zero tokens rewarded.
3 Fails out of 3 tries. I’ve got the max gears for a level 80 Ele, can’t see what i’m doing wrong here.
I don’t see how its a problem if some people chose to do short runs for fewer tokens, in order to avoid some of the more difficult content. I don’t see the exploit in that which requires a change in the system.
(edited by Token.6501)
How many people have tried and failed to get tokens out of Arah since the last update?
And how many people still think it isn’t hard enough? Seriously, it’s not good enough to have max gears, and can’t blame it all on player skill or the lack thereof.
Was with a group that failed Giaganticus battle. One hit from his AOE’s downs me and i probably won’t be able to get back up. Pretty hard to dodge those red circles he spawns so much of it all at once! Can’t say that we were really doing anything wrong, never even got close to the half-way point, just reset after reset!

Do I have to solve these two jumping puzzles in order to get my exploration achievements?
Cubular Fells in Mount Malestrom & Griffonrook Run in Lornar’s Pass.
I have examined every map and I’m missing two exploration points from those areas, I don’t seem to be missing anything, but i haven’t completed the jumping puzzles.
