Goal of Proposal
People play FOTM for months in the hope they will get a fractal weapon eventually. In most cases this won’t just happen. If we get a skin every 500th run it’s probably one we don’t need nor want. Let us use the fractal relicts to buy fractal weapons, like 1000 of the cheap and something like 20-50 of the pristine ones for a weapon we can choose.

Proposal Functionality
I understand this is not related to financial income like your trading-post-way-to-do, however this game really needs more skins or weapons and armor to work on by just playing the game and not depending on awkward rng or the use of gems. This is really something which bothers many people i know, and many of them do not play gw2 anymore because of that. I don’t understand why you don’t put some effort in that area.

General Feedback on FOTM
Generally speaking I really like to concept of fractals, where we can work through different maps increasing the difficulty level thus having challenging content over a long time. In my opinion it just laks some balancing (like the dredg map which is way too long and anyoing for no reason) and the reward (only rng and if you’re unlucky you won’t get skins nor ascended chests nor anything valuable).

It was for the OP. Here are the other 2. I use the 15/25 one regardless since my groups are pretty solid.

15/15/0/20/20 - Use if you are the only source of condition removal

15/25/0/20/10 - Use if someone else also has removal

hey obal, thanks for your input and sorry for my late response. i was quite busy with my exams at the university.

i was testing around with your stated builds tho, and i think 15/25/0/20/10 is indeed quite nice – will probably also stick with it. the weakness for guardians are really conditions i think, combined with the low health pool it gets annoying sometimes.
do you wear full berserk/assassins gear also in high level fractals? i was mixing it with some knights armor stuff.

with my guardian i am just never sure if i shall even try to do some major damage, or rather really focus on supporting the group and leaving dmg issues to my warr twink..

Recently I changed my good old 0/0/30/30/10 AH Guardian build and I must say the new one really works better for me. I was never very happy with AH in fractals because during most fights Reflecting Wall and Shield of Avenger was just to important, thus shouts being quite useless or having just one shout left didn’t really do the “AH-job”.

So my intend was to get a build with similar or a minor loss in defense but get some more damage out of it.

With this build I think you have now a very situational but effective defense and dps output, depending on the weapon.

In times of need I use hammer for 100% symbol and protection up-time. Otherwise I use sword/focus which really hits hard with this build. Try it out and tell me if it works for you as well if you want.

At the moment I am not playing GW2 anymore. I just don’t want to waist my time on so much RNG and “Use-the-credit-card-to-get-any-item”. Classes and their skills getting boring quite fast. You don’t have many options and for most classes there is like just one viable Specc. Dungeons are not difficult, it’s just RNG again. Either you’re unlucky the boss one-hits you, or not. There is nothing to do either than farming Legendary again with RNG almost-only.
I just can’t bother myself playing that anymore. Probably I’ll get it a try with an addon or some major changes.. if that will happen anyway :-)

BTW all, absolutely ALL of my RL friends with whom I played GW2 have stopped due to similar reasons.

Anyway Anet won’t care because they already got some nice money from us.

Axe (2-Hand) Warrior, Guard
Slow but hard hitting single target attacks

Polearm (2-Hand) Warrior, Guard
Slow but hard hitting aoe attacks

Magic Ring (1-Hand Main and Off) All classes
Very slow but devastating attacks/shape shifting spells
No Stats on the ring and very hard to find. Once you find one you may be considered as one of the strongest wizards on the server. If you attach the ring, you will get vulnerable to other players and if you die the ring will drop on the ground.

Crossbow (2-Hand) Ranger, Thief, Engi
Slow but hard hitting single target attacks (one attack must be called “arrow to the knee”)

Nuclear Rocket Launcher (1-Hand Legendary) All classes
Very slow but absolute destructive attack
Only one shot (1 Year CD). Kills everything instantly on the server (Even npc kids, bosses, players, devs, minis).

Flute (1-Hand) Mesmer, Thief
No attacks but dazing and slowing spells.

Why? Because people spend more money in that case.

As much as I like GW2, my impression is they are not interested in anything unless it serves as an increase in sales. Sure they try to create a cool game. But not because they like doing it and want us the have a great experience. Basically it’s because we shall buy it and spend our money in the gem store.

I don’t want to troll or offend anybody, probably I would do the same as an owner of a company like Anet. However, always when I buy a product I hope the producer made it like he would have done it for himself. Or at least they pretend to do it simply to fulfill the customers needs.

You should put ALL SPvP matters as top priority, because if you want GW2 to have a feature, you must do it. Otherwise it will die very soon. Everyone is saying that, because it is sooooo obvious.
I do not doubt you’re working, but you are working slow with wrong priorities. Wake up.

Working on every PvP feature we want concurrently is obviously not feasible. Everything must have a different priority. Dueling is a feature that could happen anywhere in the game, and could be picked up by a team other than the sPvP team. As far as our team’s priorities go, dueling is certainly not above custom arenas, spectators, shout casting, split queues, etc. I know everyone may want a specific feature first like dueling, and it sucks we can’t please everybody at once, but that’s the priority we’re working with.

we are not working on the requested feature. We know what you actually want and will decide for you what is important and what is not. However if you have any issue with the gem store or your credit card we will help as fast as possible. Thank you for your investments we will reward that with further non-relevant items in the gem store. We love designing purchasable items for the gem store, but simple functions like a duel feature is actually not relevant because all our competitors already have that.
If you have any question regarding class balancing we have great news for you too. Currently our CIO is playing a warrior in PvE and a mesmer in PvP thus you should stick with those classes. However that might change in the future if he decides to level an alt via credit-card-gems-to-gold-crafting-guide.

Don’t take me too serious, but that’s the feeling I get while reading red posts in the forum ;-)

With custom arenas, the play-now functionality will be revamped to better place you in servers.

Why don’t you just implement a simple DUEL FUNCTION for kittens sake? I literally don’t understand why this essential feature is not in the game yet.

I think the mindset is kind of wrong here. 5 zerker warriors out-dps 5 zerker of ANY profession. But I doubt you would see people posting at guardian forums stating that zerker guardians lose to warriors.

In PvE, the main thing in playing a dungeon is probably the team dynamics and individual player skills. 5 of the same class is definitely less effective than a mix of classes in the same dungeon. A skilled ranger can definitely outlast/out-dps a new warrior. Likewise, an experienced guardian/engineer can heal/res the party efficiently.

But in most cases, you are unlikely to have that perfect set-up. You could be playing with a pug group, or guiding guildmates, playing with friends etc. The importance here, in my opinion, would be to play your class most effectively, whichever class that may be.

As I said I dont think its a problem that zerker warriors outperform any other class damagewise. I am just disapointed the ranger seems to do WAY less damage and dying faster than any of my other classes if specced for pure damage. I know it’s kind of good to play supportive as Ranger, however to have just that option is bad.
If my warrior is doing like 3 times the damage of my ranger and last much longer in difficult dungeons I am really asking if thats the intention of the balancing.

I know a good Ranger brings some good utilities to the group and it wont be a problem to do any content so far. But then ANet should be honest and say: Take class X if you really want to do damge and take class Y if you want to support. In fact they say it does not matter what class you play.
It’s like one would say: To travel 5000 miles you may take the airplane or you may just walk. Both is possible and gets you to the end. Thus it doesnt matter right? 0_o

i dont think rangers are meant to be made as a glasscannon . But i can suggest a build that will do as much damage over time as a warrior would without being totally useless .

Yes please, but ranged if possible. Because I don’t want to play only melee with the Ranger ;-)

You are right there are dungeons where 5 zerker warriors make no sense because they lack survivability. However I tried to compare the possible damage output of classes. A pure class-cannon ranger is as squishy as a zerker but does only a third of the warriors damage.
I just wish there was an offensive spec for every class which is comparable to the the others in regard of the damage dealt, or I don’t have to bring a certain class if I want to deal damage or be a supporter. Because at the moment it’s about bringing the right class not the player although the trinity doesn’t exist. It’s possible to do every dungeon with any class combination, even 5 rangers, but it’s just not as effective as certain combinations and the reason is just some do much more damage or have way better support than others.

Currently I have a Warrior, Guardian, Mesmer and Ranger on level 80. All exotic / ascended equipped. I tested many builds with all of them – offensive direct damage specs, condition specs, supporter specs and whatnot – actually also with all other classes at least in PvP. Thus I claim to know something about classes and their diversity. I don’t want to talk about PvP here because I really gave up the idea, GW won’t have the paper, scissors, stone balancing there.

What I want to say is, certain classes are better for DPS or Support in PvE. I would not care about that if the difference was like 20-30%. But I am having a problem because the differences I see are like 100% and more from one to another class.

I’ll try to illustrate my thoughts with the help of a personal thesis:
Bring 5 full equipped Zerk-Warriors for a dungeon run. Then log on 5 full equipped DPS Rangers and do the same. I say the Ranger group needs at least 3 times as long as the Zerker group to kill a certain boss or a trash group. You may say, I don’t have the right build with the ranger or the meta is just worse. I say, that’s awesome give me the right build then.
But frankly I don’t believe there is any. You may also say the ranger is better as supporter or defensive class. I say support and defensive is just absolutely useless compared to pure offensive specs in dungeons. The faster you kill a boss the less you need any support. I for myself am sure it’s easier to bring 5 capable DD’s to a dungeon than any other combination. Maybe in fractals 20+ it changes a little.

I am too lazy to prove my thesis with videos or other methods. If you played different classes in dungeons you will understand what I said.

I think it’s just really sad, certain classes are way more effective in what they do than others. If I want to do dungeons I should bring my warrior. This is what my intention say and all the LFG request in /k. I might also bring my time-warp-portal Mesmer for DPS support or my Guardian for some paths in Arah or fractals. What I should not bring is my Ranger, because he is just worse than any other class I own. This is sad because I would love to play my Ranger more. I like the style and how the class is played, but it’s just not effective..

When will ANet realize that and change something. I don’t mean nerfing some cool specs from other classes into the ground, so they are totally useless. Some weak specs and overall damage should be increased.

If you did not employ a balancing team of charladies and they will return from their 7 month holiday, they actually should know what to do by themselves.

It’s really getting a pay-to-win game. Yes I know you don’t need the skins as they wont improve your stats or anything, but frank an MMO is about getting new gear and style items. But hey I need to invest real money for that..

It was the same for me when I started with dungeons. After the indoctrination of certain companies with their trinity and the mechanics of group-play I needed to rethink how I actually play in Guild Wars 2. After some time it eventually worked out and I even must say it’s fun. In the beginning I didn’t really believe it will work but it actually does, at least for me.
Long story short, I am pretty sure you will consider most dungeons quite easy after a while. Start with the consideration of not being a “tank” yourself ;-)

I agree with animus.

For me GS is just too boring now and nerfed too much. Personally I cant enjoy guard anymore and play almost every other class in spvp now. I dont mind that much, one more class which is quite easy to beat now. A friend of mine stopped playing gw because of that nerf – it destroyed the whole class he say. If further patches will go into the same direction, of nerfing little op things completely to the ground and getting even more cd based, i am happy the competition is not sleeping and there will be other games for me. No offence the autohit-lovers :-)

I think it would be a great option to change back the symbols to the original order and duration, but nerf or change the retalitation. Why not take out the retalitation of the symbol and turn it in an additional virtue? Thus the symbol mechanic would not be destroyed – ret would be activated tactically with a long cd.

Whatever, probably Anet dont care anyway..

It’s definitively needed in the game.

At the moment it’s not possible to practice/test any 1on1 situation in GW2. Joining empty servers is not a solution because every time I do that with a friend to do some 1on1 it takes a few minutes until another player joins and start to interfere, even if we tell them to do not. 99% don’t care.

An Mmo without any 1on1, I don’t know..

I only rarely play warrior. But I know if you take out the mentioned abilities or reduce them warrior is going to be a free kill. I have no problem at all to avoid the 100B-Frenzy-Going-Crazy-Dmg with almost any class.

Look at the dmg of thiefs or the non stop produced copies of a good playing mesmer. I think tha’st way more disproportionated.

1. Remove hindrances
What I do not understand is that in GW2 the concepts of other, in my opinion worse games are implemented, while throwing away great features from GW1.
- Travel Costs: We haven’t had that in GW1 – why now? It absolutely makes no sense.
- Armor Repair: Same as above. I just bothers for nothin
- Switch Specs: We had that in GW1 perfectly implemented. Now again, only one spec available, while we are already limited by our utilities. I don’t want to argue about the GW2 concept with utilities depending on our weapons. But if I consider GW1 I always changed utilities and specs in every situation – and that was just fun. Now only limits for no reason. Please let us spec and respec for free, and let us save the specs. Do I really have to level 3 times the same class to play defensive, offensive and supportive – if I don’t always want to pay 10 times a day?
..these points were just perfect in GW1, but you took the concept of WoW and other games which is definitively worse than your own previous idea!!
2. Item previews
It’s not possible to link a posted item to another player. Why?
I can not inspect other players and check the items on my player model.
I can not check the skins in the ah/trading house, whatever it is called in English.. ;-)
3. Duels
In every MMO possible except GW2. Even in GW1 it was possible, although it was complicated. Why don’t you just implement a “right-click on name-ask for duel-option”? Many people want to duel and fight with a friend in a 1on1 situation.

GW2 is great, but I really don’t understand why you introduce features from the competitors which are worse than your own, while leaving away some essential features which are state of the art in the mmo-business.
I play GW2 because of the equal rights for PvP, the atmosphere, the jumping puzzles, and because I was a great fan of GW1. It just really bothers me that it seems to be normal these days that MMOs restrict the players experience with endless hindrances.

What ever.. probably nobody cares at all, except me and all my friends who still play GW2 :-/
