Why? I’ve seen this comment all the time. People are proud of the time they spend practicing an instrument. People are proud of art pieces they practice to get good at. Why can’t someone have pride in the work they’ve put in to a game they really enjoy? Having pride in accomplishments in a virtual world doesn’t mean they don’t have pride in real world accomplishments also. I’m proud of the fact that I worked hard to get Sunrise, The Minstrel, Bolt, and 3 full ascended armor sets. I’m also proud of the fact that I have a masters in Mechanical Engineering. Neither one takes away from the other. Do I judge them on the same scale? No, but there is still pride in both. They aren’t mutually exclusive. Stop judging people’s psyches on what they get out of a video game solely. It’s moronic.

Because it is not your skill that created those items. Merely your willingness to waste your time to accrue someone else’s art. There is no skill on your part to get these items, merely time sitting and waiting. Where as, in your example, a trumpet player takes his time and improves his skill to levels beyond that of a normal person. Some become so skilled that no one else will ever catch them. Where as, again for your example, all it would take me is mere time, no skill, to craft Sunrise, The Minstrel, Bolt, and 3 full ascended armor sets. Equating skill to merely time wasted isn’t a good policy nor intelligent.

If you want to argue for skill in a video game then you would be best to head to the pvp forum as that is the only place skill comes into play. This comment takes twenty fold for Guild Wars 2 pve. Dungeons and PvE are merely memory, very little skill.

So time is not anything of value? Those who spend the time to make ascended deserve the rewards. Those who choose not to spend the time and grind do not deserve it. It is not impossible or exclusive if it takes no skilla nd only time. You cans till get ascended items and legendaries. How does this even remotely appear relevant to the topic of EXCLUSIVE items. This is just plain entitlement.

“Why do those who spent the time and effort to get something have it and I don’t when I am unwilling to do so!?!?!?” Jesus Christ.

Exclusive items should stay exclusive.

the politics in this thread is so evident. Basically a conservative vs progressive theme going on here. Conservative: If you were here for the event/worked your kitten off for it, then congratulations! You have something to show for it and make you unique!
Progressive/Liberal: No one should have any exclusive items! Must share and let everyone have a go at it!

I agree with the conservative view on time gated events and things you have to be skilled at being exclusive. You were here when a special anniversary event took place? Good, you should be the ones to have this item. You pvp your heart out and get exclusive pvp skins for top pvp players? Hell yes you should be the only one that gets it.

However, Holiday events which happen annually? Yes, everyone should get a shot, but they may have to wait a while. I also think the RNG part of this should be dropped too. If two people do the same number of dungeon runs or seasonal or special events, they should receive the same reward, unless they do different difficulty settings. The higher difficulty achievers should get something different. Gem stroe stuff should just stay there. Money is money and doesn’t require skill. Leave it for everyone and make mor emoney ANET.

I also have no issue with skins no longer available being sold for thousands on the TP. That is basic supply and demand. Those who think skins obtained during the first months of GW2 thata re rare now should be cheap and for everyone are getting close to ridiculous. You weren’t there whent his item was available. Now, it costs more, but such is life is moscow. Don’t edge into the area of entitlement.

I’m shocked that so many actually thought it wouldn’t be $50. I was expecting that price, so it didn’t surprise me at all. The only thing that did surprise me was the standard edition not having a character slot.

Now the ascended thing…..that is another story. That’s one change that kittenes me off. At least nerf the mats needed for damask please. Cloth ascended has always been way out of line. And no, please don’t do the opposite and make the other ones obscene like damask. -_-

I don’t think people should be mad. It isn’t like they are adding a new tier of gear. They have given people years to craft these items, and other than time, they really take no skill whatsoever to craft. It would be one thing if they added and entire new gear tier to craft with new mats, but they didn’t. They are just making a change to what is already in game…

So I’ve spent the past day raging on reddit and in game about the expansion price and ascended 5-10%, said anet is a joke and worse etc etc. However now I’m just tired of the whole thing and ashamed of the behaviour of myself and others. Truth is I love the game and want it to be success. I also respect the devs as people who love what they are doing and try their best. People should stop for a second and consider the effect their behaviour is having not only on morale at anet right now but on the future of the game itself. If people want to kill the game they are going about it the right way. Anet have made and continue to make mistakes sure, and I expect them to make amends in some way as they always do. But I think we all need to take a step back, take a deep breath, and start behaving like reasonable people. That goes both ways, radio silence from anet is no more acceptable than rage and insults from the community. I hope we can sort out this mess soon before permanent damage is done.

I agree, the better way would be to just not prepurchase and let the numbers show ANET how the playerbase actually feels. However, it irks me that people who claim the “I’m a three year vet and am excited for HOT, why aren’t you all?!?!?” come here to instigate more anger and rage. It would be best if both parties just didn’t come to fight, but these “vets” should already know the forums are a place to complain and rage anyway.

Why pre order anyway?

1: I didn’t give them $100
2: I always pre-order games I want
3: I have no problem paying full price for a game I know I will enjoy, and that I know will be worth every penny.
4: I enjoyed the original beta weekends, and I want to be able to check out the HoT beta weekends.

Many other people aren’t willing to pay that much for what they aren’t sure about what will be given to them. YOU may be absolutely positive you will enjoy what little we know about HOT, while others aren’t so sure. Your 50 bucks is worth a different value than somebody else.

Pre-purchase price is fine, leave it

The typical MMO will charge you 15$/month as a subscription fee.

This is 540$ for 3 years which is about the amount of time Guild Wars 2 has been out for.

The fact that people have the urge to complain about the price is rattling. I can’t believe that people who have been playing this game for 3 years can’t manage to support it further by dishing out 50$ for an x-pac. “bbb-ut it comes with the core game and I had tttt-oo buy the core game separately”. Yeah well wouldn’t it be darned if Arena Net made new players pay 50 dollars for the core game, then charge another 50 dollars for an x-pac. That’s sure to reeeeel in the new comers! Doesn’t that sound like the best business model ever? “Come play our game for 50 dollars, but make sure to drop another 50 for the x-pac you won’t have when you buy it!”

To the people complaining about the amount of content we are getting for the price: you payed for the game once, and received 3 years worth of content, the enjoyable value of that content is subject to ones personal preference, but nonetheless, you will have another 3 years of MORE CONTENT. The only plausible argument I see is that we aren’t receiving an extra character slot and THAT is the ONLY problem I see.

/RANTOVER

You make it so simple. it is people who bought it recently and now see they could have waited a month to get all of it for the same price. Also, if you are truly happy with the price, why are you here trying to justify it? Go play beta instead of trying to force your opinions down on others. You only see the world through your own lens. “I played GW2 for 3 years….EVERYONE has played GW2 for 3 years.” There is a vastly more complex and diverse community here. People with different views, income levels, and amount of time invested in the game. Some of those 3 year vets may also only log in once or twice a week for a couple of hours. Le the complainers complain and the happy people go play beta rather than incite internet debates..

Let's face it : it's only a feature pack

I think people often times forget that GW2 makes up the lack of sub money in gem store purchases. It isn’t liek theya re missing out on 15 dollars a month from each player. Are you sure about the certainty that all we are known to receive in HOT is all that comes in the xpac? I’ll wait and see until more beta players share info and ANET hopefully releases more tidbits. But as of now, it definetly isn’t worth 50 dollars based on what we know. I just don’t believe the people who come here to justify their prepurchases are truly content with it. If they were, they would be playing the beta and not caring what people who feel differently feel. It is as if they must convert people to their position to validate their purchase so early.

see i dont see that as a issue myself, because we havnt actually seen all of the new expansion, just highlights of the different things coming into the game overall, we havnt been shown anything which would actually say exactly how much content ur buying into.

Once those who have insta-purchased go into Betas i think u’ll see a Proper sight of what your really getting, so i feel that content level isnt shown enough to know what your getting into, and yes paying into something that u dont know is a risk.

but WoW among many others do the exact same thing with even less information on what you pay for, as far as i understand those in the inital game were in the exact same placement

but when it comes to really battleing weather the expansion is overpriced for the Length and entertainment of what is. in GW2 as it has no sub model u have no additional charges, which ofcourse will make the expansions more expensive, its their one ensured profit… they have nothing else which would force players to pay into the game… so u have to see that side of it.

over Three years.

WoW – £9.99 a month + £40 a Year… 120+120 = £240x3 for 3 years.

Wildstar £40 (no Expansions were released) + £9 = 108 + 40 = £148x3.

Now to run into F2P games

EQ2 – Paying for classes = £20 each, (2 classes atm) Races = £10 fdor vampire and £20-£40 for Drakken so £40 minimum so far.. Mercs require Payment of £10, Reforging = £10 now £60

Sub isnt required but u lose out on a few things not having it… so to Benefit 100% of what they can offer due to locks on exp weekends etc etc u’d have to pay. + £34 per expansion..

Thats coming to like £100 to access everything + £9

i mean Guild wars 2 by far is the cheapest investment of MMOs… and In comparison to other forms of entertainment on the majority MMOs as a whole are cheaper, so i feel like u cant really accuse GW2 for ripping people off, they are charging u alot less.. for the exact same amount of stuff any other MMO generally delievers in expansions in todays prices.

The issue here is not the three year vets alone. People who bought this game a few months ago befor eknowing anything about HOT, or people who bought it sooner, and expected, as most MMO’s do, to buy the original copy, and then then having to buy the expansion can be upset.

The issue on knowing whether or not there is a lot of content on HOT is also a big issue. I don’t agree with the massive complaining going on here, but what do you think these forums are? I would rather just have people not buy the game, and let the numbers show ANET what is up when they see a massive underwhelming prepurchases.

I will say I find it smarter to hold onto your 50 bucks until you know what is actually included in HOT, rather than throwing 50 bucks blindly, but to each their own. What irks me the most is the people who bought HOT already, maybe even the ultimate version, then come on here to explain how it is worth it while, at the exact same time, telling people that the value of the expansion is different for everyone. Hypocritical as fark. If you TRULY loved this and were more than happy about buying HOT, you wouldn’t be coming here trying to justify the price.

WOW, and most other MMORPG’s let you know what new dungeons, raids, and content is being thrown your way. Just because we don’t pay a monthly fee does not mean we don’t deserve to get more complete detail on what we are purchasing.

“Even as a player like myself who has stopped playing for many months, if I come back now, what do I gain? Most of the new content is gone. So what is there to encourage me to come back? IMO the only real content added was isles (that I hate) and fractals that are just ok IMO. The rest of the new content is no longer there to encourage me as a gamer to come back and give ANet my money. To me they are just spinning their wheels.”

You paid Anet once and you aren’t giving them any more money unless youd ecide to buy cosmetics. The coming content is just a bonus that requires no more sub fees or anything. Why not play for 2-3 hours a week and enjoy it rather than getting mad that you can’t finish all of it. I am a VERY causal player. I play maybe the same time as you to 8 hours a week on a good one. I enjoy just walking around, checking my guy out, and doing whatever of the new content I can finish. I am happy I only had to pay once to play and it makes me relax and enjoy the game and not feel that I need to bum rush and finish all of the content to enjoy it. Can you not step back and be happy you haven’t paid 160 plus worth of sub fees if this had a $15 a month like WoW?

I fins it irritating when GW2 players complain so much when the game is a one time cost and no fees afterwards. You are acting like Anet owes you because you throw your money at them. If you are spending money at the Black Lion for cosmetics when you play 2-3 hours a week, that is your problem. IT isn’t necessary to purchase it at all. Just try to enjoy the hours you do play. Then again, people who enjoy the game are too busy playing rather than complaining on forums. Have fun man, and don’t throw extra money to Anet when you play so little…

If I am wrong, please let me know in what way you are giving Anet your money.

[Luna] Blackgate Casual Nights PvX

in Looking for...

Posted by: TrcyMcgrdy.2317

TrcyMcgrdy.2317

Moonlight’s Echo [Luna] is welcoming new members to grow and share experiences with. We are a casual guild located on Blackgate server, the bulk of our members being mainly late night/weekend players (usually a couple hours after daily reset time and later). [[While we are open to accepting people from other servers, it will be most beneficial to you if you are on Blackgate or planning to server transfer in the near future.]] We accept people of all locations, ages, playstyles and levels of experience, so whether you’re a seasoned player who’s been around from day one, or a brand new player who just picked up the game, you are more than welcome to give us a try.

Moonlight’s Echo has always striven to keep a family-like, friend oriented atmosphere, a place for people to come to relax and kick up your feet, to just play and enjoy the company of your guildies. While some come and go, we continue to find wonderful mature people who contribute to this atmosphere and make this guild a better place.

We have never been what might be considered hardcore, but we are definitely looking for people who are interested in doing dungeons in the evenings. We enjoy doing these kinds of things in guild groups when we can because most of us would rather be in the company of familiar faces than attempt to pug it, and we have a VoIP service to help better communicate. Currently we have one day on weekends where we schedule a guild mission (we are open to welcoming members who would like to come on an events basis especially if you’re available on Sunday evenings after reset, so feel free to ask about that if you’re interested) and usually afterward a group will stick around and do some dungeons or mess around in WvW depending on what everyone’s interested in at the time. All that being said we are ABSOLUTELY looking to expand to help our members experience more of the game and not feel like they are missing out on anything, so don’t exclude yourself if you’re more into the WvW/PvP type things – there is still a place for you here.

On representation: While Luna has never required members to rep 100% of the time, our feeling on representation is that if you come into the guild and after a time grow to like it, it would be a home to you and you would naturally want to represent us by your own choice. A guild should be somewhere you want to be, and you should never feel like you’re doing something because you “have to”. If you’re newer and you’re still trying a couple guilds out to see if they fit for you, that’s totally fine – just let us know that. However, if after some time we notice that you consistently choose not to represent us and feel that you have no plans of coming back, we will have to assume that you have found yourself happy elsewhere and let you go.

Still Recruiting? I am a pretty Casual GW2 player. been playing since last September. I usually log on after work to do my dailies and talk to a few buddies that play. I want that friendly guild atmosphere where people talk and enjoy themselves. My last guild was a huge and hardcore WvW guild. Didn’t suit me too well.

Anyway, I see you guys are Eastern Time. I have been living in hawaii for the last ten years, but will be moving To D.C. Nov 15th so will then be there on that East Coast time zone. Let me know hoe I cna apply or talk to someone. Already sent a couple of in game letters, but as it is 9 pm here, it is 3 am for you guys. Look forward to hearing from you! ALOHA!
