Iirc, didn’t Anet mention something about the PC being a sylvari impacting the experience of playing HoT?
If so, my money is on the NPCs being more hostile when interacted with/background discrimination between npcs but nothing overly drastic like shipping sylvari off somewhere/rounding them up.
i dont think low iq is in asura genes – intelligence is probably a quality that asura look for in a potential partner, everyone has them, some guys like girls with big chests/small chests/big behind/small behind/tall/short/blue eyes/brown eyes/green eyes/brunette/blonde/ginger/fat or slim, or chubby/ and so many different personalities
– for asura, other than looks and personality, intelligence must play a big part – a genius asura would ever put up with an asura that is less intelligent than they arefor charr, it would all be based on combat ability (muscle mass/size/kills) as such, there is no such thing as a weak charr, only the old or maimed – for born, they have to have equal achievements as we learned from that one quest in guild wars 1 when we nearly got married to a norn, seeing how each norn wishes to make their name in legend, each strives for greatness so there is no ‘weak’ norn either
basically – its selective breeding, low iq does not appear in the asura genome
Q: How easy it will be to determine the gender of Asura characters? Do female Asura have breasts?
Eric: Asura are mammals and female asura do have mammary glands, however they are not particularly prominent the way they are in humans or norn. For the sake of physical attraction, asura place much more importance on the ears, eyes, and shape of the head (larger head equals larger cranial capacity of course!) than anything else. As for telling the genders apart, female asura tend to have much softer and fine features than males and wear their hair differently.

Q: Do asura have solid relationships with the opposite sex? If so, do they still try to outdo each other while in such a relation?
Yes, there are strong relationships between male and female asura, that usually develop out of common interests on a project. The course of love never runs smooth, so that you will have relationships with each side trying to prove they have the bigger intellect and better ideas.

So yes, Intelligence is part of attraction for them – but it doesn’t seem like it’s the only, or even the main reason for attraction between two asura.
Also, for those who aren’t particularly smart…
Q: Are there any non-academics among the asura as well, like ordinary workers?
Absolutely. But those workers are in turn seeking to improve their own tasks through innovation and experimentation (“I’ve just re-organized all the books in the library. BY COLOR!”)
[Also from the second link]
So it looks like the Asura may just put those who don’t make the cut intellectually to work in more mundane jobs that would benefit the Asura as a whole, and keep them out of the way of more the more dangerous aspects of experiments.
…Unless they join the inquest, then all bets are off.
Whoa whoa whoa, Stargate references….why don’t we have shields over the gates yet like in SG-1? Let them all try to materialize in the sliver between the gate and the shield.
Hard to put a gate over something you don’t control – remember, there are Asura operating all the gates .
Besides, really, if their going to send people through to attack, do you really think they aren’t going to send bookahs through first?
The orders would stop the asura
But one of the orders is lead by an Asura?
Why is everyone insisting it has to be a military take over? There are other ways to take control, albeit sometimes indirect control.
Interesting. Having no nipples implies a lack of mammaries, which indicates a reptilian, amphibian, or avian nature to the species. Given the big eyes, sharp teeth, and claws that visually appear adapted for climbing on their hands and toes, I would guess probably reptilian egg-layers. Progeny appear to be communally raised, though not in the same manner as the Charr, so strong family bonds are forsaken for stronger communal, and later krewe relationships.
I think it’s actually been confirmed that the Asura give live birth by someone at Anet? At least, I remember hearing that somewhere on the forums.
I think it’s always been there – but it could be an interesting direction to take the living story, if they thought that far ahead with it.
I just seriously doubt that the did, and decided to to throw it in for what Esplen said.
Hi, I’m a relatively new player to MMOs, and I’m looking that’s primary causal/social guild that wouldn’t mind helping each other out with instances/dungeons/whatever. LGTB/LGTB friendly would be a a huge plus.
I do want to put out there that I do go to school full time, so there are going to be times when I won’t be on much depending on what’s going on with that.
don’t know if its been mentioned elsewhere but I heard the camera goes all buggy on Asuran Engineers
I play an Asuran Engineer, and I can’t say I’ve had this problem?
Really, it comes down to racial abilities, and which race you prefer overall as to which you should probably choose. Both are great races, imo.
Because they’re basically a very large, abnormal* krewe that yields high results for relevantly low cost, and the council finds that an ‘attractive’ thing about the Inquest. Iirc, there’s actually a line where one of the councilors basically says as much, though it’s phrased closer to ‘When you can…’.
*Abnormal in the sense that they don’t break up and go their separate ways once they finish a project.
Honestly? Like a lot of other people have said – I like the culture, animations, general over-the-top attitude that the asura have!
