Desert Borderlands literally feel like deserts in lower pop servers. Alpine maps felt more alive.

Before doing anything, let’s list the facts.

Fact 1: There is a server population imbalance. Higher Tier servers have a lot more players than low tier servers.

Fact 2: T1 Servers have extremely long queue times, while in some cases (like Vabbi), there is no queue at all.

Fact 3: Having to wait to enter a map is a deterrent for newer players. Newer players won’t even attempt to enter WvW since 1. they don’t know it. 2. they wouldn’t want to wait for hours.

Keeping these facts in mind, I see no problem with the OP’s suggestion, since it addresses the issues that we currently face. It is an improvement over the currently broken system we have now.

That said, Arenanet has already announced plans for a new ‘mist’ map. I don’t think they will adopt an alternative unless the ‘mist’ map fails. Even if that happens, it is unlikely that they will do anything about it. (they still introduced bloodlust despite resistance from the gvg groups)

Outnumbered and the Orb System

We already know that the orb system will probably create an unbalanced system, but I think there should be more thought given to ‘outnumbered’.

Presently, the outnumbered group gets spawn-camped. It is annoying, but it doesn’t matter that much since they don’t get points for the kills.

However, with the orb system, they will not only get a huge boost to all stats, but stomping will also give a lot of points, which will make WvW pretty much impossible to play for low pop servers when against high population/coverage ones.

Also, it is very likely that people won’t even play when they are outnumbered, since the server might blame them for ‘giving free points’ to the enemy. WvW will become all about outnumbering your enemy and spawn camping them.

Arenanet is probably under the impression that matches in WvW are balanced – they aren’t. Add this lack of balance to the orb mechanic, and the game becomes unplayable for the weaker server.

Is there anything Anet has planned to address this issue?

My solution to this issue: Being stomped doesn’t give any point when outnumbered. Sure, it doesn’t address the balance issue, but at least people won’t get blamed for ‘giving free points’ to the enemy.

Are you serious ?

Click on “Match-ups” and search for “hack”, you will see 41 pages of supposed hacking.

“Reality” of cheating need proofs, if you got it then report. There nothing else to do.

And how many of these involve GH whining?

Seems like we, on Ranik, are just cheaters, runners and… i don’t know what ever…

Was happy to see near balance matchup between us, with a near balance result and great fights but if you just wanna talk about ton of Ranik dropping from sky (love to see this in video) , don’t know what to say…

I’m always solo as a Gardian and i meet a lot of ppl running in camps or calling friend to add from AS and Gunnar… That McM, there is solo players, there is group players, there’s bus players, there’s those who never wanna die… I’ve got some great fights on the same time.

Just fight, take pleasure and play the game.

Well, i havent seen any hackers yet and i cant speak for anyone else. there’s always people whining and moaning about stuff.

What i like in a matchup is the talk about fights and raids and all, which tbh have been lacking (at least for us). I’ve noticed allot of groups (even guilds) just run away even if they outnumber you, now everyone is free to play how they want but it just seems boring to me.

I’ve seen people whining and moaning about zergs and blobs here. But it’s my first time seeing complaints about cheating. And the cheating is a reality, last night’s Hill on GH borderlands was one example. Bypassing the inner walls of the keep to take out Lord Room is called cheating, no matter if you used a mesmer to hug walls and portal or, if your mesmer literally flew.

If you want to be respected for your skills, then you should get rid of the cheaters.

There is another alternative. Instead of reducing the benefits to the zerg, we could give benefits to the server with lower numbers.

The outmanned buff could be extended to give vitality and toughness bonuses, which should give smaller servers the advantage they need to compete with the bigger servers.

Additionally, the outmanned buff could be implemented in tiers, with each tier giving more bonuses (it could scale with the quantity by which the server is outnumbered).

Unfortunately, this would be bad for roamers, as they would sometimes have to fight against enemies with buffs. And also bad for duelists, but for them, there’s still sPvP.

The proposed solution to that, according to me, is to make the buff area wide, instead of map-wide. This should solve the issue for roamers, and those being zerged as well.

Personal Story: Retribution Bug

Retribution is bugged for me. The risen that appear during this level all seem to be ‘invulnerable’ and don’t take any damage at all. The only group that I noticed so far which actually took damage was the group at the top of the beacon (appears without NPC nearby and includes a champion unit).

The map also doesn’t show the objective markers, and it doesn’t even update the objective on joining the map.

This bug prevents any kind of progress for me.
