JQ camps spawnfor BG so that TC cant defend keep and BG clears mortars so that JQ can cap TC towers.. TC too stronk outmanned? or maybe JQ and BG are some kind of gay buddies? :s

Exactly, because it doesn’t make sense from an overall map strategy standpoint to, y’know, break that waypoint to impair your troop’s movements or anything.

On an unrelated note, missing your wallet BG? PM me.

Ah I had no idea “breaking troop movements” and “overall map strategy” mattered so much on Friday, against an Outnumbered opponent, who is trailing second place by over 100k in score…

So well played there, you must be very proud of yourself.

Great fight defending your garrison TC. You are the undisputed Kings of trolling the circle/ ressing the lord.

Loved the fights with the Agg/NS/HzH “training” crew as well. Rumor is Agg might be leaving the game forever? Please don’t leave us Jericho… we were just getting started again…

What people don’t understand is that MERC can now actually run as a proper guild (tagless etc) because they don’t need to send 20 scouts to every towers, keeps on every BLs. BG is too obsessed with ppt which make MERC become a “float team” for BG which is basically a train with bunch of rallybots (pugs) who stay up for wexp (because their guilds can’t take any thing from JQ or SoR).

I can say this because I was a MERC and the reason Amarathy quit commanding was because of BG. One night we ran tagless with MERC only and it was so much fun. After that he got so much complains about not tagging up to lead useless rallybots to farm their wexp. After that they i’ve never seen Amarathy commanded again.

GG – keep the hate flowing.

Guilds who care about their server train and better their server.

i don’t have anything against MERC leaving they can do what they want with their time.

what i do have a problem with is with how deep one servers’ pockets are to just buy an entire tier 1 population worth of guilds. an unconfirmed number i heard being thrown around was in the neighborhood of 30k gold.

i can understand everyones desire to win and be competitive in t1, and all the tier 1 servers can point fingers at each other for “stacking”, but this is beyond absurd now.

season 1 should be earned, not bought.

Everyone moving to JQ, and will not be able to WvW anymore … that is funny. Let’s see, WvW + MERC + RISE + MEOW who ever the hell other scrubs jump ship … Chuu chuu and his 10 men … all enjoy waiting in queue.

Why go? just to get a golden yak, you never actually contributed for? … ya cool bro, you want a golden cookie too? Maybe a golden shower?

I think its time to pop over to EU where real players play. Watch the hiroshima bomb of US go off. This has been quite the funny week.

Back up a second, where did mister Chuu Chuu go?

Well, a day or two in SoR … didn’t last … then back to TC and we liked him here … but he didn’t like us the same. It’s a love hate relation, so he went where winners go …

and took some 10 people with him, and has IM’d multiple others. We’re probably gonna hit up an EU server, this NA stuff is a joke.

So RISE and MEOW landed in FA permanently, coolbeans, I just saw one of them note yesterday that they weren’t done yet. So …

It’s actually quite a compliment when mag’s comes to the thread… and laughs genuinely. No trolling at all.

Don’t get me wrong, Chuu had his reasons, he’s tired of TC. We enjoyed when he was here though, but have many others commanding always. TC full of RPers to fill the boots, and I’m sure we can find someone who wants to role play a WXP conductor.

This week has been hilariously fun though, both in game and to my surprise… this forum is just great entertainment at work.

Can’t wait for his humblebrag posts if JQ wins leagues. You know, if anyone is still playing by the end of the first season. And yeah, pretty sure I’ve been on the forums more than in game for the past few weeks…boring matches are boring.

Seen a lot of JQ Alt+F4 to avoid getting stomped tonight (some times I didn’t even have the buff). Come on guys, I paid a lot of gems for my cool giant animation. Let me see it.

#DisappointedInThosePlayers

Yeah seen alot of people alt+f4ing myself tonight. Reminds me of the bad old days when it saved people armor repairs, now it saves their server 1 point. I hope you guys who do ALT+F4 on a reset night dont have to wait too long to get back in W3 LOL.

Anets should implement a penalty system just like spvp. Ban for entering wvw for the next 72 hours if ALT-F4 for more than 3-5 times in a period of time.

Nah, just put in alt+f4 =’s you got stomped for all intents and purposes. At that point if they wanna give me the points with less risk to myself then fine with me.

Legit crashes etc. should be about the same for all sides and wouldn’t matter in the overall score.

The logistics the OP describes ARE the difficulty. They make the encounter difficult. He even calls it a logistical challenge in his own post, right after saying it is not challenging.

Newsflash, there are many forms of difficulty, cat herding is one of them, motivating your troops is another. having good reflexes or timing for a jump doesnt have to the only challenge the game poses. And just like whether you have good reflexes or not, the solution might be out of your reach. Deal with it. Overcoming logistics is certainly more doable then some other difficulties, if you want to to put in the effort. TKS is the best example.

I’m tired of all those l2p and “ozmg it’s the most difficult content ever” topics. Tequatl is NOT difficult, nor challenging content, the only challenge is, well, logistics. Those who beat this boss, beat it not because they are good at the game, they beat it, because they have access to a large pool of human resources – big guilds, high pop servers and so on. It doesn’t really matter if those 100+ started playing a week ago or if they were playing for over a year, the only task that one needs to do is stand in the predefined place and spam skills, now this can’t be performed in low pop servers, because there’s not enough people and it can’t be performed with a bunch of randoms, because they usually don’t listen to anyone and everyone just scatters all around the map, making it impossible to effectively heal/buff with turrets, res and so on.

I’m not necessarily complaining about this type of content, though it’s not really my cup of tea, I’m only annoyed by “omg I beat Tequatl, I must be the best player ever now” attitude.
Solo’ing dungeons is difficult, being near the top/at top of PVP rankings is difficult, winning 1 vs 3 encounters in pvp/WvW is difficult, SAB tribunal mode is difficult, high level fractals/some dungeons can be somewhat difficult. World bosses atm are not difficult. If you’ll get enough people to stand in predefined places, you’ll beat any of them, it doesn’t require skill, just people, who are able to listen/read.

They shouldn’t get rid of guesting.

Instead, they should make the world boss rewards unavailable to anybody guesting. Then, they need to scale world bosses so that lower-pop servers can do it without complaining about being a lower-pop server.

100% support. World boss rewards if you’re on your server only….the guesting feature was designed so that people can play with friends from other servers…this is just taking advantage of it. As someone mentioned earlier, the low population wouldn’t even be much of a problem if guesting was removed (or at least restricted) because the people who would be guesting would now actually be playing on their server, unless they really wanted to play with a friend.

Sitting in queue for about 2 hours now waiting to get into my own server map. I got onto my realm yesterday, and there were entire off-realm guilds there taking up slots.

This has been a problem on TC since guesting was put in and someone suggested making TC the ‘official’ Orr server. It’s gotten worse since.

I am glad this issue is now getting some attention from other servers, as you can see the level of annoyance not being able to play with your own community is.

Nah, keep guesting but when a native wants to get in – boot the guest. Harsh but the way content in GW2 works is that you better do it when it’s new or you don’t get to finish it.

Entitled much? They were there first. If you want to get in, wait in line like everybody else.

How is that true? There was just an update about 30 minutes ago and I did it the same time as everyone else. Loaded in…overflow. Now I am waiting just as long as everyone else except unable to play with my own server. How is it entitled to ask that you play with your own community? If they care enough to beat him get coordinated enough with other people on your server. If that isn’t an option, transfer. If you care enough, you will.

Forced update apparently means “Entitled N00b”.

I guess so. I really don’t get why people come on the forums just to yell at those with suggestions/complains about being “entitled”. Honestly, everyone on here is entitled to say what they want about the game. Everyone on here is entitled to a majority of the things they’d like to see (to a certain, reasonable extent…not like “OMGz I DESERVE A FREE LEGENDAIRY PLZ”), because after all, they did pay for the game. And, most related to this topic, people are entitled to being on their own server because, after all, they did CHOOSE that server that they are being denied playing with.

How about not? I picked TC as my server, the guest didn’t. I’d feel the exact same way if I was guesting BG. They picked BG, why should I have priority over natives?

The nature of the internet will always cause this, all popular mmos suffer from this (except lotro which always seemed immune). The devs put out content which requires server coordination…

NO

You’re NOT ALLOWED to use such general and positive terms for this fight

This fight’s win condition is 100% an absolute DPS check, and nothing more…
There’s lots of servers who coordinate daily to achieve what others call the impossible.
Then there’s other servers who do not coordinate one bit beyond bringing maxed out pure power vit builds to this who succeed with time to spare. ….This is not a server coordination issue. This is artificial difficulty. This is a Spreadsheet in action….

There’s a certain FYGM mentality in saying “I don’t see why you’re complaining, my experience has been great.”

That’s wonderful your experience has been great, that you’ve met more people, that it brought your community together.

It’s a jerk move to rub it in the face of everyone else who can’t do it and say it’s because their community just isn’t good enough.

That said, Tequatl is open world content. Open world content should be for everyone, not “the elite”. There are instances and endgame content for the elite. This “elite” would lose exactly nothing if Tequatl was an 80 man raid instance. People would still group together to try and take it down, in particular since there are very few guilds that can actually muster that many people online and organized simultaneously.

And OK, even if not all open world content needs to not be elite – you do realize Tequatl is in a level 60 or so area? Where, reasonably, one would expect people who are level 60 or so to be? As opposed to people who are 80, fully geared, and used to endgame? Sure, level 60 or so exotics exist – does the average player bother with full sets, or just tunnel vision to 80 when it actually matters?

Putting a level 80 elite event in Cursed Shore is one thing. That’s a level 80 area. It’s an endgame area by default. Sure, it’s open world, but it also, by design, assumes you are at least level 80. Tequatl is more ‘elite’ than any endgame content the game has to offer, yet it somehow is… not in an endgame area? If you want this type of boss, why not Jormag, who is in an endgame area (and has the crappiest reward out of all word bosses)?

I can understand defending this type of boss mechanics. Hell, I’m sure I’d have fun in the fight if my server had been able to coordinate. I enjoy this type of content, too. But I just can’t defend such a poorly thought out release. Endgame content has no place in open world areas that are not endgame. There are plenty of good places to put it, and the open world Tequatl fight is not it.

I’d say what’s way more community-damaging are people like the above poster (edit: I meant penguin), and many others, who come to the forums and talk down to people and make rude comments. Every time you read on the forum someone say “this isn’t for you” or “you don’t know how to play” or “you’re doing it wrong” or something to that effect: that’s damaging the community.

(Ironic, given that the reason GW2 is doing well is because LOTS of people play it. If the people who think everyone who isn’t like them should quit, they’d be out of a game rather quickly.)

I agree with Tallybunny. I also learned what to do and have attempted many times on my server to beat this. Every time, at the end of the timer, Teq is still at 70-80%, so ya, not even close. I have only so much time to PLAY this game. I have wasted enough time and silvers on trying to complete this event. I would rather spend that 15 minutes on something where I can at least have a CHANCE at success … maybe a jumping puzzle …. or anything else… anything…. no really…. ANYTHING else.

I find that the Tequatl fight is causing more undue distress and irritation throughout than most.

The ammount of time and effort invested into it simply doesn’t warrant the investment.

Perhaps we were poorly accustomed, perhaps not, the facts remain.

Why should I try to kill Tequatl?

Is it fun?

Is it rewarding?

As I cannot even get into my own map, being doomed to Overflow (the only way to do this is to camp out long before the event ever starts) , I have had a long, stressful, series of failures.

Worse, I don’t feel like I’m at fault for failing here. I have done my fair share of the work. I took the time to learn the fight, I did all that was humanly possible to help it along.

Perhaps scaling is the issue.

Whatever the issue is, I have not had fun (who likes to lose all the time) and I have not felt rewarded at all for my time. In these aspects, this update has failed, and I for one, deeply lament this fact.

The only thing that keeps me getting back right now is stubborness and that will soon fade, and then, regrettably, I shall take my play to greener shores.

Community definition:
1. people living in the same district, the district, city, etc where they live under the same laws,
2. a group of people living together and having interests, work, etc, in common: as a college community,
3. society; the public.
4. ownership or participation in common: as community of social life

When you make content it should be understood people regard the content you make through “layers”. Memory in the brain is a little bit like a slide show. In fact, your eyes see like this. Memory is a copy of that slide show with more sensory information.

When a person looks back through their memory they also sense the mood of the events recalled. If the mood is Positive, Positive, Negative, Negative, Negative, Grey the person will come out very close to a sum of these where each element, positive, negative, and grey are quantifiable as 1 and Grey always subtracts by its additive once from the larger of former two.
Thusly, Positive 2, Negative 3, Grey 1 looks like, P+(N-G), or 2+(3-1) = no gaining or lost emotion. This would be equivalent to someone saying, “How do you feel today?” and the person replying, “…eh..” with negative bulk lending toward future encounters (with anything) and remembered from the former.

When you construct something in game you should be asking, “How did this make me feel? How about the next person? Why? What element in the string made that event switch from Positive to Negative? Was it just that one event or a series of them?”

Tequatl is a great fight idea. The issues seem to be largely that it generates a lot of anger in people and this from very clear things. The turrets are too important (greY0 and people too unreliable (negative). Impact: (grey, negative). Since people are no longer important and the entire chance reliant on 6 people on cannons… the first phase of the fight transforms the fight into a kind of gambling scheme. (wholly negative). The event is a lot of effort for a very good chance of zero-reward. Impact: (negative). The fight is less monotonous than many. Impact: (positive).

Summary:
-There is no reason to go to the Tequatl fight because it is no different than throwing rares into the mystic forge.
- Your chance of success is very truly entirely based upon chance.
- Players are no longer important in the fight or to the fight except those 6 on the cannon.
- The six players on the cannons are responsible for the success or failure of an entire server.
- There is no reward for participating in the event. Tequatl is a fight based around chance. Therefore, to show up to the fight is to show up with a very low rational hope of success.
- People have better things to do with their time.
- This kind of content will generate irrationality, bickering, and a generally negative social climate in your game.
- You did not understand this.
