There is definatly some sort of major performance issue causing crashes. I do not have the newest of computers, but prior to downloading Heart of Thorns I was able to play in cities full of people and in the Silverwastes, even if it was a little slow at times. Now I am getting constant crashes to desktop. I have one character in the Silverwastes and as soon as I log in I crash before I can even do anything. It seems that HoT is more processor hungry than the original game.
Correction to my previous post when I said the game constantly crashes to desktop. This only happens when I try and create a Revenant. Other characters appear to work fine.
The game crashes to desktop often within seconds of logging in, constantly.
Do we have any idea of when this will be implemented?
Thanks for the helpful ideas folks. That’s what I needed. No, there is probably little synergy between skills, and that’s exactly the sort of thing I needed to hear. I was just throwing some ideas around without really knowing what I was doing. I’ve actually restarted another guardian (it’s complicated!) so I’m back to very early levels now, so I’ll just mess about with different weapon combinations and then as I get more, traits.
Blimey, is it that rubbish an idea that it gets thirty-five views and no comments?
Hello,
I really have no idea what I am doing and I want to stress I am just experimenting here and looking for some feedback. I have tried a very “tanky” build for general PVE (up to level 62) and nothing could kill me but it was all a bit slow. So, I came up with this as a possible idea which would increase power / precision while still having good survivability (I hope!). Would this work do you think?

D/D condition style is weak in PvE
Very weak
Very very very very weakThe only decent way to level condition with the thief is P/D.
But if you insist, I suggust getting your iniative high enough that you can just deathblossom then run the kitten away
At least in the early stages (I am only level 31), I have to disagree with this. I am running D/D with whatever points I have available in trickery and acrobatics and it works very well indeed. I use caltrops alot and have the caltrops when I dodge trait, and as I am constantly dodging I get very few hits on me. The rest of the time I am death-blossoming or heartseeking. I find I can take on a smallish group of enemies or a boss of similar level without too much difficulty. With non-boss enemies, once I’ve deathblossomed them a couple of times I find I can then more or less forget about them as they just bleed to death and I can focus on the next one. So to conclude, I find myself pretty strong in fact. As I said earlier, this is still in relatively early stages of the game and I haven’t tried dungeons as yet, so I may have to adjust my playstyle as the game progresses, but for the time being I’m having great fun!
I’m even more junior than you (19) and loving staff. If it’s working, stick to it. You (and me too for that matter) can always change to greatsword or whatever later on if we wish.
I just did it!!! Finally! I now have 100% of Queensdale! The slightly annoying thing is I got some lovely green armour which I can’t actually use which seems a bit daft. You’d think they’d gear your reward to your profession. Oh well.
Thank you Pandemoniac and Kiraki. The whole invisible thingie is a very good point. I will try again with renewed vigour! Wish me luck!
Hm… good point. Any mesmers for hire out there?
Anyway, thanks for the tips folks. I’ll give it another go but I think I may have to resign myself to not getting 100% completion. There are, frankly, other things I’d rather be doing in the game which are more fun.
I was wondering the same thing. Do you mean if you press the left button you jump?
Thanks for tip but I have tried going as far back as possible on the beam. I even watched a video on YouTube of somebody doing it (stepping back as you suggest) and they seemed to have to trouble. I tried to copy them but still no joy. It’s really annoying because I relish the learning curve in this game and love slowly getting to grips with all the subtleties of how my characters work but this one daft thing is holding me back.
This could be a very stupid question, but I am getting very frustrated with jumping. I am still quite early on in my journey through Tyria and I’m sure any jumping situations (puzzles or vistas) are only going to get trickier, so I really need to work on my technique now. Most vistas I’ve tried have been a bit frustrating but after a few goes I’ve managed them, however there is one in Queensdale I just don’t seem to be able to manage. You all know the little fishing hut near Claypool? I can get all the way up to the top beam but then seem unable to jump onto the roof. I’ve tried pushing forward then jump and jump then forward (in quick succession) but my character just recoils and stays put. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have any tips on how I can improve my technique?
