Could we get an option to choose between the HoT and the pre HoT character select screen and the music that plays with it? I miss the old pre HoT screen that has the overture play with it.
The area around Shaman’s Rookery jumping puzzle in Wayfarer Foothills, its lighting has bugged.
hey you players helped to recreate lions arch ..
AND YOU chsoe to name the new place that wayso who do you think is at fault of our cute lion isnt at his spot anymore?
its you
clearly…
right?!?
The Community barely had anything to do with recreating Lion’s Arch other then voting on pre made names for the points of interest in the city. Also the name of the point of interest where the Lion Statue and fountain used to be didn’t change. The Community voted to keep its original name, “The Grand Piazza.”
As far as I know there are no polls on wether or not to remove the Lion Statue and fountain or change anything about the city other than points of interest names.
The conversation with Linsay Morell in the Personal Story mission Setting the Stage shows that the fountain is a symbol of all the races coming together and why there is no reason to remove it.
A: Why would it be different? It’s the same surviving population and government members…
B: Notable thing. The captain’s council aren’t pirates. They talk and may have BEEN pirates, but they are NOT pirates now.
C: Same as A, why would the lionguard change? They weren’t wiped out, just forced from the city.
D: It’s a melting pot and an open city. Many types of people arrive and stay here, many are seeking a new life away from old troubles. Some are bad, but a lot simply aren’t.
E: The actual PIRATE merchants are only allowed to operate if they play by the Council’s rules. Kiel mentions that while it may give people the idea that the council supports/allows pirating, it was done purely so they could keep an eye on the pirates.
F: Again, ties into A and C. The LA leadership was not killed off during Scarlet’s attack. After she died, they returned to the city.Scarlet ruined the town, but she didn’t wipe out the Government, military forces, or people of LA.
I just thought it was interesting that the city looks so different but its still the same old Lion’s Arch we’ve come to know and love.
Its interesting that after Scarlet Destroyed Lion’s Arch and the city being rebuilt, Lion’s Arch really hasn’t changed much. Sure the city looks completely different but Lion’s Arch is still ruled by the same council of pirates, the same Lionguard guard the city and protect the trade routes, the city is still a refuge for many pirates, outcasts, refugees, deserters and escaped criminals. There is still a pirate run black market though in a different cave, the city is still neutral and has separate laws than its neighbor Kryta.
In the Personal Story conversation cutscenes there would be no voice audio. This would happen randomly and its always the npc. The npc would talk but there would be no audio, then the player would talk and the rest of the cutscene would have audio.
Why are all the colors in the Lion’s Arch Personal Story missions washed out? It makes everything look grey and brown. Is it a bug or was there a reason for the washed out colors?
So is there any reason why hundreds of seashells are stuffed into the walls? Did the Consortium just give up when they were finding materials in the rebuilding process?
Is it possible to place some Lion’s Arch banners around LA? The only banners in the city are Krytan ones. Although Anet has said the banners are paying tribute to king Doric. It feels odd that Lion’s Arch would have flags of a country that repeatedly went to war with them and still have some animosity between the two sides. The Order of Whispers supports Queen Jennah because she is one of the few Krytan monarchs who supports Lion’s Arch.
The other is to bring back the Lion fountain and statue. It was a symbol of the city and in the rebuilt Lion’s Arch there is no lion imagery. Besides how else is the Mad King make his entrance other then breaking through the Lion fountain in Lion’s Arch.
So now that Lion’s Arch has been rebuilt I’ve noticed that the Lion Fountain is gone. Will it ever come back? Perhaps so the Mad king can break out of it again.
Also why were the two big Lion statues removed? They weren’t damaged by Scarlet but the Consortium must of went through a lot of trouble just to remove them and any other Lion imagery.
So Lion’s Arch has been rebuilt and the city got a brand new design. The new design in my opinion is mixed. Areas like the Commodore’s Quarters and the Western Ward work but other areas like the docks or the Lion’s Court don’t. Many parts of the city have very little detail and feel barren and empty. The Theo Ashford Memorial Bridge could use a whole lot more detail to make it feel less barren. Like adding doors to the buildings and market stalls. The Lion’s Court also feels empty without any npcs and the lion statue/fountain. The docks also feel empty since there are no ships in the harbor, almost no npcs on the docks and no pirate or sailor npcs in the city. Lion’s Arch is Tyria’s most important port both for sailors and pirates but it also has a navy large enough to fight off Zhaitan’s undead fleet.
Parts of the city feel barren and even unfinished in places. Its also disappointing that things like the sewers and the Order of Whispers hideout were removed. Each city is unique but Lion’s Arch feels to similar to Divinity’s Reach in places. I was personally hoping that the city would either look like the pre launch trailer or a more Venice like city with lots of canals and boats or what WoodenPotatoes on youtube suggested. Adding buildings from all the different race together.
Here is a few screenshots to show what I’m talking about.
So now that Lion’s Arch is going to be rebuilt does that mean it will get new architecture and remove the old ship building style? I liked the ship buildings and I hope Woodenpotatoes(Youtube) is right and the new Lion’s Arch will look like the pre launch version.
The title pretty much says it all. One Evon stands by the northern exit to Gendarren while the other talks with Hero-tron in front of Kiel and Magnus. I don’t know if this belongs in the bugs section or not.
So why hasn’t the Kessex Hills or Lion’s Arch been rebuilt or in the case of Kessex been changed and will it ever be changed or rebuilt?
Lion’s Arch has changed since the battle but its still in ruins. This ruins immersion in all of the Personal Story missions that take place in Lion’s Arch. The worst one is when joining the Vigil and the player meets them in Fort Marriner. Before the city’s destruction, the fort was filled with Vigil and now there are no Vigil and during the Personal Story, it feels very empty. Adding multiple areas for crafting and trading posts have helped though.
The Kessex Hills hasn’t changed at all since the Toxic Living World updates. The ruins are still littered around the map, Krait are still toxic, toxic events are still active despite Scarlet being dead and Fort Salma is literally a hole in the ground that just takes up space.
Will the Holographic Shattered Dragon Wing Backpack Cover be made available from the Laurel vendors in the Season 1 rewards? It was a Living World season 1 but isn’t available from the Laurel vendor. Not to be confused with the tradable Dragon Wing Cover.
So by this point in the Living World Lion’s Arch, Fort Salma, Fort Concordia and large areas of Kessex Hills are in ruins. Will any of these areas change or be rebuilt. While Lion’s Arch has changed overtime and services have returned, the city is still in ruins. Fort Concordia and areas in the Iron Marches are covered in Mordrem roots. Will either of these areas change? Fort Salma has been reduced to a crater in the ground. Kessex Hills is still covered in the ruins of the tower and toxic enemies and events are still active in Kessex and its neighboring areas. Will any of these areas be rebuilt or is there a plan for these areas in the future.
Chapter 1 Continued
As Kryta flourished and Ascalon braced for the Searing a young man was exiled from Kryta. The man was named Saul D’Alessio and on his exile into the Maguuma something mysterious happened to him. When he returned to Kryta, he came back with tales of unseen gods and a golden city. Soon after a cult calling itself the White Mantle rapidly spread across Kryta. Many commoners and nobles supported the cult which caused their influence to grow across the country. With every noble and land holder their influence in Lion’s Arch and sources of revenue grew. Their power reached its height when the Charr attempted to invade Kryta through the Shiverpeaks. The king fled, the Lionguard were disgraced and according to the White Mantle, Saul gave his life to stop the Charr invasion. At this point in history the White Mantle held Kryta in their hands.
Not all peoples of Kryta gave into the rule of the White Mantle, many resisted them and they would form the Shining Blade. From their strongholds in the Maguuma Jungle the Shining Blade would launch constant guerrilla attacks against the White Mantle forces. The following events would be known as the Flameseeker Prophecies, where a group of Ascalonian refugees would ascend and defeat the White Mantle and their evil masters. While I will not go into detail, its effects on Kryta led to the fall of the White Mantle, the rise of the Shining Blade, the coronation of Queen Salma and the forming of the Seraph.
In the generations following the fall of the White Mantle, Kryta would undergo a radical transformation. The first was Zhaitan’s rising of the dead nation of Orr. Doing so caused a terrible tidal wave to destroy the souther coast of Kryta and the city of Lion’s Arch. The people fled north and followed their king to found a new capital on the Giant’s Basin. Another event was the fall of Ascalon. Between the rise of Orr and Ascalon’s fall, tens of thousands of refugees from all human nations fled to Kryta. Once land of Elonan descendants quickly became a multicultural nation. Kryta’s borders fell back in the south and east and in the north the centaurs finally united. The fierce Modniir tribe of the Shiverpeaks forced the Tamini and Harathi to unite against Kryta. While lacking the Charr’s discipline and technology they are fast and can strike deep into Krytan territory. Finally there is Queen Jennah heir to the House of Doric and queen of all Kryta. The Ministry conspires against her, the Charr have signed a treaty and the Elder Dragons now loom on the horizon.

(This fanfic is a book written by a character who lives in Tyria. I based it off of Marco Polo’s Book of the Marvels of the World.)
Travels In and Around Kryta
By Diri Arslan
Synopsis
This book was created during my travels throughout my homeland of Kryta. I wrote it so that others who read this can have a better understanding of this country, its people and its history. My travels took me from Divinity’s Reach to the very frontiers on the Shiverpeak Mountains. I also traveled through dark swamps, rolling grass lands and bustling settlements. As for me; I am Diri Arslan, a man of Elonan descent from the city of Lion’s Arch. The city is located on the southern coast of Kryta and is at the heart of Tyria. This book will also contain information on the history of various places as well as certain events I experienced while traveling to these places.
Chapter 1
Krytan History
Kryta is located in the heart of Tyria and is bordered the Sea of Sorrows to the south, the Woodland Cascades to the north, the Maguuma Jungle to the west and the Shiverpeak Mountains to the east. The first human settlement in Kryta was founded by King Doric at the site of Lion’s Arch. The site never expanded beyond an outpost and a summer estate for the Orrian royalty. This all changed in 300AE when the Elonans claimed the outpost and founded the city of Lion’s Arch. This event began the official colonization of Kryta by the Elonans. Settlements began expanding around the southern coast of Kryta over a period of close to a hundred years. In the year 358AE the Krytan colonies declared independence and chose a descendant of King Doric to be their king.
In the decades following Kryta’s independence the young nation rapidly grew in size and began expanding into the fertile plains of central Kryta, where they came into conflict with the Centaurs. The centaurs used to live throughout Kryta and still do in the Woodland Cascades, Maguuma Jungles and the Shiverpeak Mountains. Centaurs have the body of a deer with a longer tail, the torso and arms of a man and the head of a goat. They mostly live in a tribal society and are very warlike. The Krytans would launch an almost never ending war against the Centaurs just like the Ascalonians fighting the Charr. However unlike the Charr, the centaurs weren’t united but divided between the Harathi and the Tamini. After years of fighting and building castles to defend their new lands, the Krytan frontier was pushed as far north as Giant’s Basin, modern day lakes Doric and Regent. The newly conquered lands were divided among the nobility and used for farming.

I found these bugs while walking around the two cities. The Hoelbrak one is minor but the one in the Grove is much more noticeable. The lighting in the top level of the grove changes at certain points to the lighting at the lower levels.
The areas in the Black Citadel by the Trade Post and south of the Ashford disappear. It mainly depends on the position of the camera.
It happened again, every time I log on by the Akk Wilds waypoint.
I’m not quite sure what caused this but I was in Metrica Province, the moment I logged in I was below the map. My character was by the Akk Wilds Waypoint.
Where did they say that?
Why hasn’t the next LS trailer gone up yet? Usually it comes out on the Tuesday after the last LS episode was put up, but there has been nothing so far.(as far as I know)
(Spoiler Warning)
I hated the death of Belinda, it felt less like a heroic death of a character and more like a shock death or too get rid of Majory and Belinda. Her death is off camera, we don’t get to see what happened. It could of been done much better by having Belinda die by sacrificing herself to save Majory. It also ruined any chance to learn about Belinda’s past and her relationship with Majory and her family.
So what happened with Palawa Joko and Elona in the time between GW1 and GW2? In the wiki it says during the time of GW2 he is the ruler of Elona. Did he destroy it, enslave the people, or create some cult around himself by calling himself a god?
Also would there ever be a possibility to return their in an Expansion or Living Story? The orders(especially Whispers who have ties to Elona and still operate there.) wouldn’t like the idea of a lich ruling Elona. Perhaps join the Pact in a war to retake Elona from Joko?
I don’t think Lion’s Arch will be destroyed because several Personal Story(meeting Destiny’s Edge, joining the Orders, retaking Claw Island… etc.) missions take place there. Otherwise how would they change the Personal Story for all new characters and characters already made who haven’t reached that point yet?
Has anyone else noticed that when the human female characters go into the idle stance the shoulders glitch? Its also not just this armor or armor type.
Will the ruins of the Nightmare Tower and giant dead roots in Kessex Hills ever be cleaned up? The Toxic Alliance for the most part has been defeated, so wouldn’t the Sylvari, Order Members and Krytans be trying to clean up and rebuild by now? Also personally I miss the old loading screen art.
I found this in Gendarran Hills north of Broadhallow Bluffs. When you interact with it you hear Emissary Vorpp say “That sample forced me to rethink some of my assumptions. I need Intel from an eyewitness to one of her portal attacks.” The machine looks like one of the portals the steam creatures use and I assume “her” is referring to Scarlett since she does use portals.
