All sieges should be buffed to hit much harder. You should not be able to stand right back up after getting hit with a cat or treb boulder hitting you.

Yeah when you get hit by a catapult or treb you should pass out and get a black screen for 15 minutes.

They could even have an NPC physician that clears you to make sure you didn’t sustain an in-game concussion.

If you don’t pass the physical, they make you sit out until you can be cleared to play.

I play on NA t1 and have been on both the side that tries to use AC in open field battle (with WM) and the side that tries to destroy opposing zerg (with KnT against TW) that uses AC in open field battle. While it adds some elements in open field battle, it is certainly not as game breaking as some people here tries to make it sound. We lost the field battle where we tried to use AC and won the field battle when the opposing side tried to use AC.

That’s probably because using ACs in open field fights is wicked stupid.

Hint; don’t run away from the ACs; get right on top of them. It’s not hard at all.

Until they drop a second one.

You don’t even need two. Build arrow cart. Have half your players drop their stuns. Wait for people to use condi removal. Have other half drop your stuns.

You can easily wipe a group before they ever reach your arrow cart. We did it multiple times yesterday and I’m sure we’ll spend much of tonight playing arrow cart wars 2.

The response I’ve seen from this is ‘well don’t get in range of the arrow cart’. Great, as if fights weren’t hard enough to come across, now we’re encouraging groups to flee to their nearest tower.

People can try to convince others all day that siege wars are fun and flash building arrow carts should be a legitimate tactic in open field combat. Those of us that prefer actual fights.. you know.. utilizing player skill and such are going to disagree. There’s no fun in spending 50g on gearing up your character only to spend most of your time using or protecting siege weapons. I realize some of you like this and that’s great, doesn’t mean it is objectively the correct course for the game.

lawl. As if BT needs someone from Obey to help preserve their name.

They may be the best WvW guild on our server, they don’t need your help.

I’m on the same server as fractal chaos but the people I run with on SOR are very concerned about the change.

Impossible. T1 has all those l33t players. They could triple the damage output from arrow carts and it wouldn’t affect their play at all.

The supply comes from the supply camps. Or even garrisons sometimes. I know I know, the journey between a hills and garrison waypoint can be extraordinarily long, but it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that teams could just sit in arrow carts for a couple hours in waypointed keeps or towers near a garrison.

You bring up a good point though. The other team could just build four trebs. That is much more fun and tactical than other alternatives.

I know my favorite times in WvW have been spent trebbing hills, and thankfully now with this update, I can share this same experience with nearly every keep, tower, and maybe even supply camp.

You WvW pros are doing a great job of making these noobs see the light. Remember, whoever disagrees with you is only doing so because they don’t have your l33t skills. Other viewpoints and directions for the game are inherently and objectively wrong.

And with that, I’m done with this thread.

Try a few shots. Two treb shots will kill an AC, they splash too!

Exaggerating doesn’t really help you…

Because there is often one arrow cart guarding a tower, and it’s soooo difficult to pop up one, two, or ten more.

You’ve lost me on quite a bit of what you said there. I appreciate the kind words toward VK though.

As for arrow carts, they have reached a point where they outperform any type of organized group. Like I said previously, open field fights will now be games of ‘who can build the arrow cart the fastest’. That’s not my opinion, that’s very evident from what I’ve seen since the update.

My opinion is that siege wars is not much fun at all and that arrow carts will take the fun out of many aspects of the game. I spent much of today not fighting people, but avoiding their arrow carts. If this is a nice change for you and others, that’s great. I just know I’ll enjoy WvW a lot less to the point that I may stop playing. I’m not presenting anything here that can be argued, the change has had a noticeable affect on the game and I’m not a fan. It’s as simple as that.

This was a fun little experiment Anet, but please revert arrow carts back to how they were.

This evening we used two superior arrow carts to melt 30 people without many of us even attacking. It was pathetic.

Reset night is going to consist of flash building arrow carts all night in the open field, and that’s not what they should be used for.

3v8 fights is not where the glaring problems are with the downed state. It’s with the 20v60 fights where the problem becomes clearly visible.

If you’re fighting 20v60, you’re going to get rolled no matter what.

You can remove all of the mechanics that you want. The only thing that will save you at that point is the port home, assuming you haven’t removed that as well.

There is clearly a skill gap then between tier 1 and tier 2 if that is your thought process because that is NOT what happens when a coordinated guild group goes up against the zerg in tier 1.

Maybe you’re facing poor zergs?

There are a lot of great guilds in TC and KN (or were in this case). When they have 60 people rolling in one tight little ball, I would like to see anyone take them down with 20 people.

The only time we can take on 40+ additional people is when it’s just a giant pugball, which is never. An organized group of 60 should never lose to a group of 20, no matter how good we are.

I think allowing only out of combat players to res/heal downed players is a good start. Keep the rally mechanic though.

Removing reviving would be punishing groups for organization. Small groups are capable of sticking together and reviving their downed. The winning group will focus on attacking while keeping their guys alive, which takes skill and should be rewarded.

The rally mechanic favors the smaller group, as I explained above, so you’re asking for an advantage to be given to the smaller group.

I think all of this stems from the fact people don’t like zergs, which I can sympathize with, but tweaking the game’s mechanics is not the way to go about this. Likely why Anet has yet to find a perfect solution.

This change would allow small groups to be competitive against large groups and allow the skilled small groups to beat dumb large groups.

This is already possible via rallying. An organized group will have their mesmers place stacks of confusion, eles place static fields, everyone else range for a few secs, and then move in.

By this point everyone has tagged so many people, the chances of rallying are much greater than it is for the opposing group.

Besides, when people are reviving those in the downed state, they are completely vulnerable. If a small group is organized, they should be able to move together and inflict damage on those reviving, while killing those downed in the process.

What we’re discussing here is how a small group with no organization can run into a larger group and somehow stand a chance. They shouldn’t. When we get rolled in our guild with lower numbers we blame ourselves for not staying on the commander, not dropping fields appropriately, not placing good portals. No skilled group of players has ever lost to another group simply because of the downed state, I’ll put it that way.

Even if the downed state is completely removed, giant zergs will still be able to stack on people and revive this mid-battle. Are we going to completely remove reviving near battle then? Because there will be a lot more of you angry at that, then you are angry at this.

The solution to the downed state problem that doesn’t exist is to make it so banner doesn’t rez the lord.

..no. This is another tactic somewhat intelligent players use to their advantage, but people want taken out because they don’t know how to counter it.

Have a somewhat organized, intelligent group with you and this is never a problem.

Get rid of downed state in WvW, period.

This will allow smaller mans to fight large groups.

If everything is equal, a larger group should take down a smaller group. Everyone complaining wants everything to be equal and balanced so that no advantage can be acquired whatsoever, but small groups should be able to defeat large groups given the same skill?

That makes no sense.

Anet, please don’t listen to any of the misguided advice in this thread.

Trebs do not need to be nerfed into catas. You can treb from within a keep? Big deal, counter treb, wait till they try to take the tower and farm them, take their keep, etc.

Everyone is so hell bent on having EVERYTHING be on an even playing turf. Just because a treb can hit you doesn’t mean you should be able to walk up and hit it back. This isn’t elementary school.

Also, eles blocking shots is an optional part of the game. If you don’t want to do it because it’s boring to you, don’t do it. For some reason people have the idiotic belief that if they don’t enjoy doing something, it should be taken out for everyone. It’s a strategic part of counter siege and needs to stay. A well organized group will out siege an unorganized group and that’s how it should be rather than this WE ALL NEED TO BE EQUAL nonsense.

I’d say they should just develop a blank featureless triangle, where all three teams play inside with the exact same skills and no siege so everything is as’ fair’ as possible, but some of you would still find a way to complain

Now, T5. I was in T1 and never had issues in the larger fights. I moved to a lower tier because of queue times.

Weird. In a couple instances today, me and another d/d ele couldn’t even switch attunements. The only thing I could get off was mist form, which didn’t do much good because it wouldn’t let me heal. >.>

It’s not common enough for me to really be angry about it, but it does happen once or twice a week to seemingly everyone in our guild around the same time. Maybe the server conditions have to be just right for this to occur, but it is certainly annoying when it does.

I never have this issue.

What tier are you in?

In tier 2 the skill lag is to the point where I can’t even change attunements on my ele in some fights. And before someone says it has anything to do with my computer and settings, I have a gtx 670/i5 3570k/8gb ram with all of the character settings on their lowest.

If it wasn’t Anet’s problem, I’d be fine.

lol I’ve heard of this. Ironically today I was babysitting a supply camp all by my lonesome, upgrading it little by little, when I finally noticed a small group of TC had been killing every yak sent out for about 15 mins. ’Twas a sad time.

Then as soon as I left they took the camp, thereby teaching me to never upgrade camps with my own money unless I’ll be there to defend it till the death.

Hey FA… you, um, have a lot of superior ACs in there, huh? I think I counted 17 total? Ow.

Feel bad killing a player repeatedly

Yesterday I was really close to killing one of the skill point challenges and someone attacked me, killed me while I was trying to back off, and then proceeded to kill the skill challenge for themself. >.<

I usually back off. If they want to fight I give it a go, but even if I’m about to win I usually just use my ele powers to run away. Its usually a long journey if I lose, and I don’t care enough from a pride stand point to bother with it.

One time I even met a Kaineng person while completing a skill challenge and he/she helped me complete it, then we each went on about our way. Those are moments I remember, not the times I fight someone till the death just for a usually worthless bag.

I keep getting asked personally through whispers to GvG with VK but I am extremely put off in doing so because of this toxic forum attitude displayed before me.

Just remember, similarly to how the perception we attain from the few on this forum isn’t indicative of the entire server, the attitude you receive from one or two isn’t indicative of an entire guild.

Most of us are pretty chill people just looking to have fun.

Most of us don’t get into this whole TC vs FA nonsense anyway. I’ll be glad when the tier changes up a bit, but that’s only because I don’t like fighting the same people forever.
