sPvP exists, by the way.
I’m terrible at this game. But I’ll take Maguuma’s advice to step up my open field play and apparent willingness to 1v1 to fix that.

We just dodged a bullet.
Thanks for creating these. I am sad to report that the performance on my Mid-2011 Mac Mini’s Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 8GB RAM was unchanged, though I did suffer the strange partial-map issue expressed earlier in the thread. But I’m glad to see these kinds of efforts are making progress for others.
I’m happy that I can play the game at all without having to boot into BootCamp.
But it’s so completely unlikely that there will ever be a native Mac client. Why? Because DirectX and OpenGL are not similar. The problems that the Cider wrapper solves are the problems that arise from the differences between DirectX and OpenGL, and the Cider team is 100% dedicated to translating DirectX calls into OpenGL calls. So the Cider wrapper is actually the best possible solution unless they rewrite the entire client targeting OpenGL. Which is extremely unlikely.
If you have certain criteria that you want your groups to meet, then specify them when forming/joining groups, and reject/leave those who do not meet those criteria. Simple.
Since the AI is generally so bland, your only real PVE opportunity for breaking out of optimal rotation-style play is in dungeons. Fights in dungeons last longer, have unique mechanics, demand greater mobility, require teamwork and generally require everyone to be more flexible.
Coming from a Ranger main where our most effective strategy is to auto-attack, this extremely active and “complicated” D/D Ele playstyle is exactly what I’ve been craving. It’s hugely satisfying to be rewarded for skillful play.
I stay. I’ve had very good luck when it comes to PUGs in GW2. When things are going poorly, it’s almost always due to unfamiliarity. Even the opinionated-but-wrong guy seems more cooperative in this game. I’ve abandoned bugged-out instances more often than PUG meltdowns.
I also have more fun with a struggling group than with skip-everything group.
I chose Norn for the flavor.

That’s also why I chose a Charr Engineer, Asura Mesmer and Human Guardian.

Unless a game is designed to be cross-platform (OpenGL) at the start, it’s unreasonable to expect a true port to any other system.
I have a lot of experience with Wine and Crossover and other wrappers for running Windows apps, and I think GW2’s Cider wrapper is of remarkable quality. I’m thankful they have an officially-supported option for us Mac users so we don’t have to reboot every time we want to play, and we as a community don’t have to deal with configuration headaches and figuring it out on our own.
Using Unspecified’s general advice above, and choosing option #1 to go 25/30/15/0/0, you can switch between these two very different play styles easily without paying to re-trait:
PvE Solo or Small Team (Shortbow/Axe/Warhorn with Survival Utilities):

I like Protection on Dodge and I don’t bother with Beastmastery unless I can put at least 15 points in. I try to always take Blue Moa for Protection and Fern Hound for Regeneration, but sometimes Bears are called for. Flavor major traits to taste.
I find that melee weapons require something along the lines of 0/0/30/25/15.

I experience this as well, usually during intense battle. I just assumed it was some quirk of my KVM, and now I’m not so sure. I have remapped most of my keys. Standard wasd movement rather than the GW2 default. I also disabled double-tap to dodge.
I’ve found that if it’s not working, it will eventually start working later in the same session. I don’t think I’ve run into a situation where the TP still failed to be functional late in a session.
I get behavior this too.
It seems like many people have converged on the 0/0/30/25/15 distribution for the GreatSword/Axe+WarHorn with Blue Moa and Fern Hound. Utility skills, Elite and some Major Traits are swappable to meet the current situation or flavor-to-taste. I’ve been playing it lately, and am really enjoying it.
I experience this bug with my short bow. At night it glows on my back and when I fire a shot it stops glowing but remains blue. Mac client, if that matters.
