I really do not know what you are talking about with satisfaction of taking towers and keeps in DAoC. In the earlier days of DAoC, the only real realm that held onto towers/keeps with any real zeal was Hibernia, simply because that was their play style and overload the keeps with Animists… once they were nerfed this aspect changed slightly but replaced with Bainshees and Mana Enchanters/Eldritch.

Aside from camping keeps and towers to farm realm points, these control points were flipped just as often as control points are flipped in GW2. And now, Keeps and Towers in DAoC change hands so regularly, I don’t see why anyone would feel anything special about taking these points.

As it is now, Keeps and Towers are merely tools to help get Realm Points… Getting RANKS in DAoC has and always will be the point of focus.

As far as Guild interface? DAoC had the worst interface possible for guild management. It was all command line with TEXT feedback on command use similar to working Commands at DOS Prompt.

While I agree that it would be nice for feedback from the guards on invaders assaulting, or some indication on what a guild has claimed. But this is really unnecessary as there is no real benefit to claiming other than using your Art of War to enhance your game play and those allies near your holdings.

Realistically, someone standing in front of you on a sunny day not moving and mysteriously vanishes while you have an adrenaline rush and are at full alert, cannot be allowed.

In a game, it is a balance issue. Despite there being minor issues with any other class, this is an issue that needs to be addressed and fixed. There needs not be any compensating changes since it is not intended for any class to have permanent stealth. So any argument of giving something while adjust is just amusing since it was that player’s fault learning to rely on bugs to play.

MMOs that I have ever played or known about does not allows a player to immediately drop back into stealth while in combat (cool down is normally 10 seconds), not without penalties. (example, In DAoC , you could use vanish to instantly stealth but you are disarmed for 60 seconds and are unable to enter combat).

This suggestion would bring into balance the class and return it to play as intended. It is not a big hassle to move out of line of sight, Thieves normally already do this to break combat to heal up.

When a thief attacks a player from stealth, give that victim and only that player a perception buff that last for 60 seconds. This perception buff allows the victim to see through stealth, and although the thief may cloak and those around the thief can no longer see the thief, the victim with perception may continue to do so until the buff expires.

Breaking True Line of Sight may also cancel the buff.

But you really need to be realistic, while you have 9 people that play fair you will always have the 10th using exploits… by defending the one rotten apple and crying about people pointing fingers, you make the whole batch seem suspicious.

If you’re going to throw accusations out, you do need to post some substance. Any argument presented without evidence can be disregarded without evidence as well.

It’s more reasonable to assume someone on forums is overreacting (i.e. every other topic on these forums) instead of believing what he says without evidence. If you can provide evidence that he is 10 stacking boons by exploiting, then you have every right. Without evidence, it’s just needless bashing.

While you are partly correct to bring forth an accusation, to accuse you need a subject, since I did not point a finger at any given person, your verb does not apply. I AM however bringing to light/confirming the issue. I have been waiting for this topic to die off but people people keep responding, and those people were not even there or know who exactly they are defending.

As I said, I submitted a report, the Security Team will investigate… This issue is resolved there is no need to keep beating it.

I will add this, if people refuse to stop responding, the Moderator will end up locking the thread. Because we have had trolling already on the topic, we have had sarcasm, bashing back and forth, but we have had real communication on the subject. So you decide if you need to be moderated.

Not once did I say daphoenix is the one hacking. However, it is not out of the possibility of reason that he used additional tools to execute combinations. It is hard to tell though with his modification to playback timer on his videos.

But I have put together the build and armor template he suggests and set up a situation where I have protection and the other boons while fighting a mesmer’s berserker, and the damage I take is more significant that earlier accounted record of the 7 boon hacker with 10 stacks of regen.

In no video or any playing of my own have I been able to replicate having 10 stacks of regen. I know of only 1 way to achieve this, and that is through the bot program I had found.

Because I am not disputing the ability to get 7+ stacks of might or maintaining up to 4 boons at any given time and having +/-2 additional boons apply and fall off… I am disputing the possibility of getting 10 stacks of regen. Having 2 stacks is possible and I can believe, but not 10 solo.

You were not the player I was posting about and you really just misdirection typing to attempt to discredit what I have see and researched.

but this player had 10 stacks of regen which is simply not possible solo.

While I can appreciate what an elementalist can do with legit playing and skill uses. It was clear that this player was using a bot program to manipulate game mechanics.

I used a warrior in my scenarios because a warrior has similar armor or higher armor to an elementalist with high toughness. So comparing my berserker damage and illusionary riposte is valid when compairing to the elementlist…. even with protection, the 5000 damage cannot be reduced to 500. and even that is inconsequential to this players hacked 10 stacks of regen where the 500 damage vanishes in a second.

I appreciate you defending what an elementalist can do but to justify or talk down or misdirect the actions of someone that is clearly using a bot program to alter game mechanics is unnecessary.

I did manage to report this player (at the time of the infraction) as BOT, I just hope ArenaNet has the time to investigate this player and program.

We need to see more encryption in the way the client deals with the stream and communication with the server so these bot programs have a harder time manipulate the client, game packets and DX stream.

So much for a fair fight. Fort Aspenwood was using a hack elementalist. 6 of us were hitting her and she wasn’t going down. In addition, she had pretty much every buff in the game (regen was stacked 10 times) when no one else was near enough to buff her.

I think FA should be disqualified this round for cheating.

It’s not hacking, it’s just a well played, well-geared D/D elementalist.

I’ve seen this ele at work and I can confirm it’s not hax. However I wouldn’t get in a bar brawl with them

I reviewed the data of the Build, Gear and Skillbar. I also seen this player running around and fought this player(she belongs to [GODS] guild). I literally spent 40+ gold in adjusting my elementalist’s gear and spent approx 2500-3000 of my badges of honor on gear as the bonuses on this gear is exactly the same as the suggest AC gear minus the monk runes.

While agree that D/D Elementalist can stack a bit of boons, especially Might… It is impossible to get more than 2 stacks of regen at any given time. This player would have a consistent stack of 10 regen followed by a consistent Might stack of 7 and a boon count of 6-7.

Might is the only boon STACK this player should have consistently. While swapping attunements you would get swiftness, vigor, occasionally protection, and occasionally retaliation. but no more than a consistent count of 4 boons.

I did some digging on the internet and found a bot program that does allow you to manipulate the game client on a sliding bar. 2 of the most notable aspects of the bot program is to adjust your Magic Find to 500% as well increasing your movement speed. It also allow you to add boons to yourself up to max stack.

It will also auto cycle through your Attunements/Weapons skill to perform basic functions like…

Spiking Air Attunement, Dagger Air 3, Dagger Air 4.
Spiking Water Attunement, Dagger water 3, Dagger water 4, Dagger Water 5, then follow with Dagger water 2, Switching to another either Fire or Air

This bot program has a forum dedicated to it and it boast to their customers that, ArenaNet cannot detect this program. And with ArenaNet tackling RMT it is true that they do not have the resources to track down and monitor people suspected of using bot programs in this manner. As they are not using the bot program is a way that allows them to play AFK, they are using it to enhance their ability to play and grant their character functions they would not/should not have.

This player, I fought with my Mesmer. Skills I would normally hit a warrior for such as illusionary reposte for 5000 damage, hit this this elementalist for 500. My Phantasmal Berserker, who would normally cripple and hit a warrior for 3500 damage, was ineffective in damaging or crippling this elementalist. At one point I was standing on the outside edge of combat with this elementalist, putting 3 Berserkers on her while she danced between 6 other attackers and took no more than 10% damage.

While I agree that Darkhaven players are probably the worst in PvP, this elementist was in open field, no obstructions and 6 players and 3 berserkers on her. taking max of 10% damage and killing several of the attacking players when she turned and charged me… I baited her into the Legendary Defenders where they took her down. She was good enough to mist form away where I got to finish her.

I make about 1g-3g a day as a Mesmer in WvW… I die maybe 1-2 times and kill about 100 people or so… I also play solo so I always get loot bags and majority of the time I get 1-2 badges.

Events give silver… aim to do those… when you are at a camp, rush the dolyaks… taking down 2 dolyak then the camp is a stack of 3 events in 60 seconds of your life. Look for the next camp to take or a sentry. Quaggons is another easy event that pays well.

I use master kits and make 1-3 Orichalcum ore from heavy armors I get as loot… most of the time it is mithril. But selling the mithril at 30c each will add up and the Orichalcum at 3s…

Also jump puzzles give you blue prints… you can sell them at 50% off to players making several gold each day especially if you get alpha golems and trebs.

WvW Server ranking system isn't fair

Simply, not true…

Yes there will be a ceiling cap in rating because there are no more brackets beyond and the leaders tend to be 200 Rating over the 4 5 and 6

However, Elona Reach is a 1906. Unfortunately their opposition is 1764 and 1732. In this event if Elona Reach wins by like 150K-200K they could gain 15-25 Rating from both worlds putting them at upto 1956. At 1956 you will advance to Rank 2 or 3.

Should Elona Reach lose, they will lose hard because there is 142-174 disparity in rank of the opponents, so if you lose hard you will drop to Rank 6 or 7 merely because of the point difference.

A close win may result in deduction of rank because you Elona Reach is like a Team that is 10-1 fighting teams that are 6-5/7-4 You are expected to win and win big based on your rating.

Which makes the system fair and just… You have to play at the level of expectation if you don’t, you don’t deserve the rank and the loss in rating reflects that.

They are… from the Claiming NPC… do enough damage and you will get badges…

With magic find, you can get Exotic armors with Dolyak, Eagle, Divinity runes.

And on extremely rare chance with high magic find you can get weapons like Dusk, Dawn, The Legend… but this is a very very slight chance.

WvW Server ranking system isn't fair

This Ranking is seen Rated sports/competitions like Chess, Magic: The Gathering, ET AL…

As you play matches you take your opponent’s rating when you win and give up your rating when you lose. In order to keep your rating or gain rating you have to compete against opponents with the same or higher rating.

If you are at the top of the rating (Grandmaster) and you play against master ranks, You MUST win by a large margin, you can lose rating especially if it is a close match.

So in order to stay on top you cannot relax for a minute or you will landslide in rating.

I feel that all tools and kits should be purchased with Karma since all kits and tools become soulbound or account bound.

I also believe that should you use a higher grade tool on a lower grade node, that you should have a chance to harvest more from the node on each attempt.

I also believe that Crafting level should have a play in harvesting… if you are say a weapon smith and you are harvesting/salvaging wood or ore of equal level or lower to your skill level, you should get a bonus.

This really is a QQ thread.

If you are downed the chances of survival is already extremely low… And chances are you are going to be finished or damaged to death with or without stealthed finish or quickened finishing move.

I disagree completely with removing stealth from a single act that will be completed anyhow in 99% of the time.

Finishing someone most of the time puts the player in a vulnerable state, due to the long time and the nature of zergs.

If you cannot handle the 1 on 1 element, stop trying to play one on one. Stop over extending to allow the enemy to down you and finish you. Play in groups so your groups can easily see you are downed and rush to assist, and AoE knockback whether they can see the thief or not.

Anyone really finding themself in this situation serves the outcome. Be a smarter player and use teamwork.

I am not quite sure how anyone feels this is griefing. WvW is a Contested Zone that involves PvP. You know this when you enter and you accept the consequences of your actions. If you do not like it, stop going to the zone.

For those that do not want PvE mixed into PvP, go to the mists and stop QQing about it.

And do not forget, at the end of the jump puzzles you get PvP rewards. If there was any doubt about being justified in defending the chest, doubts should be removed because the tools gained from the completing the puzzle will be use to kill the enemy and take their holdings.

Good job Jade Quarry, there is nothing sweeter than to make a grown man cry!

Note I said solo killing. I do the majority of the damage to my kills so I usually get 1-2 badges every time.

As for the puzzles, you can get 18 for the borderlands (6 × 3 zones) and 20 for EB Puzzle. Everyone has 5 character slots so you can gain 190 a day from puzzles alone.

As for large guilds, the commander would have to work to get his cap up and the people in the guild would have to participate in WvW to have the votes to give. So Popular Vote really is eliminated unless you spend the time to earn the votes and ability to cast votes.

I don’t think commander should be bought with badges but as for blueprints, you may purchase with badges or silver.

But if a change is made, I don’t see why you could not buy the book for either 100g or 10,000 badges.

As for me… killing people solo and jump puzzles, I make 50-250 badges a day.

Badges are valued at 1s each.

If badges is the currency for it, it would need to be 10,000 Badges of Honor but to compromise maybe make the book 50g and 5,000 badges.

However, as Kirito pointed out, if this suggestion went live, they would have commander (really Lieutenant) for a week and lose it to lack of activity.

Commander was also intended to work in PvE for Raids and Dynamic Events.

So Map text chat color of the commander should effect that channel as well.

As for the icon, new players will see the icon on the map and see the constant use of text communication of those that have the icon on the map, it will be a simple deduction by players to identify the commander and what the colored chat represents.

What you ask for, as an icon in chat, would force a new chat code to be tooled to accommodate the commander flag. It is unnecessary and easily adjusted with a system already in place for Flagged Players… Text Color.

I was refering to Chat Text Color for Map/Team/Squad Chat.

As for the voting, I don’t know if you should cap the number of merits one player can give to a commander. For example, there could be a commander that has had it longer than another, but is inferior to a new commander. Why is the new one penalized in the number he can receive simply because he’s new?

Voting is two-fold. It prevents popular vote and it promotes action.

That is why I said each commander and player earns Merits which would reflect every 15 minutes of game play. And later Commanders may earn more merits by achievements though defending/capturing keeps, towers, castles.

As for penalized, each commander will be facing a new match. And old Commanders will be trying to improve on new characters.

The tiers of the commanders’ rank should be enough for the players to weed out who they wish to follow. Making it a challenging task for those new commanders.

The privilege to lead should be earned and reinforced each week. This system will prevent commanders from becoming complacent.

There are a lot of aspects of the Commander that needs retooling.

An icon is not enough for commander chat. It needs to be a new color completely. A color that stands out.


I believe that at an end of a match, a Rating/Voting System becomes active. Starting at Thursday 5pm PDT to Friday 5pm PDT.

Ultima Online had a wonderful system for rating their factions leader. It was based off Voting. But the Rating system should have more to it than a mere vote.

The player’s deeds and feedback is just as important as the commanders’ play time and actions.

As a commander or player actively plays in WvW they get Voting Merits (some sort of marker to establish ranks of time invested). The more merits one acquires, the stronger the vote is that a player may casts. As for commanders, the more merits they acquire, measures the strength of votes they can accept by individual voters.

Example:

Commander A played for 10 hours in the week and acquired 40 merits.
Commander B played for 40 hours in the week and acquired 160 merits.

Player Y played for 5 hours and aquired 20 merits which allows him/her to cast 20 votes, he/she could give them all to A or B or split them.

Player Z played for 80 hours in the week and acquired 320 Merits. If player Z desires he/she may cast 40 votes for Commander A but no more because that is Commander A’s cap, and if he/she desires player Z may also give commander B 160 votes.

There are more than just 2 commanders per server so each player that spend enough time in WvW may be generous to several commanders.

At the beginning of each week, commander enter WvW and interact with some device in the Realm’s Citadel. They may opt to take a Vacation for the match (status is disabled) or Qualify for Votes (status remains active). Merely doing this awards the commander X Merits and adds the commander to the list of candidates.

When a Match ends, all votes are counted. Commanders that did not meet a threshold of votes (not counting those that chose to vacation) have their status stripped and book refunded. They may not use the book again for 30 days but this book may be sold on the trade post. Of course they will not get the 100% gold back but they may get some. They may also opt to use the book on another character and try to start fresh.

Commanders that met a certain threshold retain their status, but their titles may be altered and sorted as thus:

Lieutenant
Lieutenant Commander
Commander
Captain
General

Also, Orbs of Power needs to be slightly altered so that only commanders may carry them. This would eliminate any chance of griefing and dishonest play.

Later, as the system is refined, other rewards should be added to reflect what commanders do, such as taking/defending a tower, keep or castle. Or capturing an Orb of Power. These should also add merits to the commander.

Also, Orbs of Power needs to be slightly altered so that only commanders may carry them. This would eliminate any chance of griefing and dishonest play.

Later, as the system is refined, other rewards should be added to reflect what commanders do, such as taking/defending a tower, keep or castle. Or capturing an Orb of Power. These should also add merits to the commander.

GW2 needs a system event tracker.

The game should not track everything just chests/events you recently completed that has a cool down timer.

When that timer elapses, it is removed from your tracking list.

The game already tracks these things anyhow, why not give the player a visual UI so it will help better plan their desired activities.

I know timers are a necessary evil for many aspects of the game. I believe that 24 hour timers need to be reduced to 20 hours.

The casual player is the type of person that is more likely to sink more money into the game. Because, typically, casual players have a job but they don’t want to fall behind the progress of their friends so they spend money on Gems and buy everything with gold that the their friends worked to aquire.

But there is one thing that the casual player cannot buy, and that is time.

A player does his 9-5 job comes home, relaxes.. then logs into GW2. He/She creates a routine that they do, perhaps a certain dungeon run because they need weapon and armor skins for their future look.

This player may spend 30-60 minutes forming a group then based on how good or bad the PUG is, they spend X time completing their dungeon.

Next day rolls around and now this person has the X time added to the 24 hour timer. Days where they have particularly bad PUGs, the delay will be drastically extended. Forcing this player to suffer not being able to do what they want.

Perhaps someone likes to do certain jump puzzles, particularly those in WvW. These can be tricky because they can be guarded… so because of the 24 hour timer and the time shift added to the timer based on the alacrity of completion will always push the timer forward, NEVER backward.

Some nodes like Orichalcum and Ancient Wood have an extraordinarily long timer, perhaps these casual players like to harvest wood and ore so that one day they can make their exotic gear.

Whatever the case… the 24 hour timer needs to be reduced for the convenience of the casual player.

Jumping puzzle strategy made me laugh. Pack 20-40 Maguuma into the puzzle while your realm goes down burning… Good strategy.

As for DH players… yes… the majority of the WvW players have taken a holiday from WvW last night and before to enjoy the Seasonal Event currently going on. This Match has been effortless since Sunday. DH players were confident that Maguuma would not catch up and they did not. And now it is impossible to lose; so people are spending a better time doing the seasonal event.

As for Wads, I am aware you are Maguuma. I know you spend all your time in the jump puzzle. I am curious though, how do you manage to target stealthed players, and how you can target people through walls/terrain in which you have no possible Line of Sight. How, as a mesmer, you seem to move at the speed of a thief when you have no speed buff. And I could have sworn I saw you, while I had Mystic Fountain Stealth, teleporting to an upper level of the puzzle without a portal. I was sure to stay a fair distance from you however, because I know you can see stealthed player so I was at the edge of clipping when I saw this super jump of yours.

I have Queues in EB almost all day long….

You do know that there are Pop limits per map and each world holds a static 33.3%, so although one world may have queues, other worlds may not.

And yes, people come and go but most stay. They have 20-40 people in there all day long from the top, to the arena and to the darkroom. Some have even sat camping the top of the well just before the Indiana Jones Trap.

As for ruffling feathers? lol… I am glad they are in there and not taking camps and towers.

As long as they are there, they are not helping their world. And that translates to a win in my pocket.

I cannot help but to think how much better Maguuma would have done if they did not flood the EB Puzzle with 20-40 people day and night all week camping the top.

That is enough people to go across several lands taking and defending points for their World. Instead, they wasted their time and their active map combatants forcing people that really want to help their realm to queue up.

Thanks for making this an easy win for Darkhaven.

I cannot believe someone is going with “Night Capping” this match. Map belongs to Darkhaven before 11pm PDT…

Every inch that was taken was heavily worked on to gain.

What I blame are the countless people that have been camping the top of the EB Puzzle. All day long there are 20-40 people just sitting at the top camping for kills. These people have no regard for their own realm.

So don’t blame this on night capping rather on selfish designs of your people.

Player A plays during the Day and Player B plays at night.

Why should player B suffer because player A cries that B is taking the Keep when he cannot be there? On the other hand, what about the justice for player B, you do not see him crying about “Day Cappers”

The system is not broken.

ArenaNet cannot force the People that PvE exclusively to WvW.

The solution is the players. Form communities that have like goals, make it requirement of your guild members to participate in WvW around the clock. Reach out on Forums to other guilds on other worlds to move to your server…

Build a better community for yourself and your world…

Most people here are crying Fair… Fair… Fair… but what you are really saying is “I want it more convenient to me!”

Organize your server, if it is too much to ask for, then don’t play. Problem solved.

Queues work 2 ways… First and primary reason Queues are good is Balancing active combatants. The second way is punishment to people that log out in combat rather than take a death.

Players that capture at night are typically running during Their Day or Their Primetime. When you cry about fair (convenience for you) you are asking for it not to be fair for them. They sleep too and usually that is your day time where you take everything back.

Also, there is nothing stopping the the 2 losing team to ally and fight the winning team.

No change is necessary to the WvW system… because what it sounds to me is a PEBKAC Error.

This thread really is a big “boo hoo”

WvW is about War, and War does not take a time out. You field the soldier 24/7 and do your job. WvW is not about having fun, it is work. Servers that inspire their people to take up arms at any hour should not be cursed but celebrated.

Teams that go out and capture and defend the map isn’t the problem. The problem is the people that give up and refuse to get back up after they have fallen. This thread is all about the negativity and crying about what everyone else is doing. Turn that energy inward and focus on what you are doing instead of complain about what everyone else is doing; inspire your people to fight back.

No server is 100% dominate. There is an off-peak hour where they lose footing. But I don’t hear you talking about how you captured back the map and defended it from their next primetime wave.

Keep in mind that if this is real world war, the enemy will slit your throat with the sun up or the sun down. Because there is no time out. As with our virtual War it runs for 168 hours non-stop (barring maintenance). What you do with those hours is up to you.

When you are fighting my server and you are here complaining rather than doing your part in the war effort is fine by me… If you are complaining here you are not defending there and giving me an easier win.

You are failing to grasp that the objective, which the event clearly states. Capture this Land. Killing the guard merely opens the opportunity to capture the sentry point… should you kill the sentry and ignore the circle, a new sentry will spawn.

So rightly so you do not get credit for the capture since you did not take the time to secure the point.

One of the aspects of WvW is to have the freedom to PvP with anonymity.

I enjoy going out hunting and killing people without having one side gloat over the other. Or have someone that I killed cuss me out or even send me silly death threats.

But one of the biggest complaints I have about people using this exploit are people that try to be friends or beg me not to kill them.

I entered an in-game bug report regarding this exploit, I just wanted to open a thread to give more information why people should get a 72 hour suspension for using the exploit and not honoring the promised Anonymity of WvW.

This match just started. Darkhaven has been better at night… With the sun coming up and the better players logging off, Darkhaven is starting to lose their keeps and towers…

Darkhaven may be ahead now but in 12 hours I doubt there will be much blue anything on the map.

Just keep in mind, Red and Green, Darkhaven refuses to defend anything… so don’t be intimidated by their holdings… no defenders and no upgrades.

In the time it takes to do the puzzle with PvP included. You can go about and clear camps and get more coin and badges of honor to buy siege than you would by doing the puzzle. So I honestly do not see why there is a fuss that people go into the puzzle looking for solo killing. It is much more fun getting into the hunting and ambush style of PvP than getting run over by zergs.

In the end, you have willingly entered a contested zone. If you become victim of PvP don’t whine about it, fight back or leave the zone.

And do not forget the Mystic Fountains that grant 4 minutes of stealth. There are many spread throughout the area… you can go to each fountain and never run out of stealth.

Mesmer was designed to use Deception and Cunning to overcome foes. They use stealth, misdirection and trickery to complete objectives.

If all you want is having Two Brutes bash each other over the head in toe to toe fashion, it saddens me think what you feel is fair.

Where in reality, this mentality truly shows how narrow minded you are. A good defender knows his surrounding and guards against every possible attack. Because you complain about the Portals, it goes to show how much you really pay attention.

Defend your targets. Upgrade your walls and doors.

Having a breach in defense is already a contributing factor of loss of position. However, often a strong team can still defend and hold off the assault.

Allowing the Mesmer inside is the defender’s fault.

Rendering or not… you should know by now to have people at key points where the Mesmers can get to and stop it from happening.

Killing the Mesmer kills the portal, don’t let him escape to open the entry for the zerg.

As far as Darkhaven is concerned, there is no real leadership. no one listens and the majority refuses to upgrade. And when something is upgraded or upgrading, they refuse to defend it to further reinforce not upgrading anything.

Another aspect of Darkhaven players is simple laziness. They steal supply from upgrading or freshly taken keeps/tower… especially the front 2 towers so they never get a chance to upgrade. This particular travesty is shameful because the front two towers is supplied by a single camp. When it is the enemy borderlands, it forces the invaders to take of the northern most camp and hold it so the supply can reach it; otherwise the tower is easily taken back.

With this failure of teamwork and lack of direction, I disagree that this match will be interesting as it may merely be a two-sided match with Darkhaven in the rear.

Total Tax is 15%, 5% of that tax is the up front listing fee. This fee protects people that post for X then someone removes their post to place the item 1c cheaper. Which is totally stupid because now they suffer an overall 20% fee.

And it is nice to bait people that post high. Then place an item 1c lower then watching them uproot and bid 1c lower than your solo listing, then place another item from your stock 1c lower.

It forces power traders out of particular line of items.

The listing fee is a necessary evil.

I find it amusing that people still do not know how the trade post works. Most notably the Tax. All items you post for sell consumes 15% of the Gross.

Example:
Someone spends 4s on 20 Silk Scraps.
Then spends 2g on a Rune of Holding.

Already you are down 2g4s crafting a 18 slot bag. Then to insult yourself you post it to undercut the previous ignorant seller for 2g18s42c (true story). For some reason this person thinks they will at least make 14s42c.

The actual return will be 1g85s56c, The poor seller LOST 18s34c.

The larger the sell price, the wider the TAX margin. So for people that power trade, higher the cost the more the loss because there are 100s of uneducated people like you that undercut thinking they will make money but all they are are doing is flushing their money away.

I have noticed that recently the economy is starting to collapse on many areas because of undercutting and driving prices down.

More and more crafting is starting to lose economic potential because crafting materials are losing value. While it will be great for people that want to level crafts, it lowers the value of crafted goods because of the influx of crafters.

It is not a bad thing that there are more and more crafters. But with the crafting materials losing value, the final value of crafted goods are effected. With the cost of material and the trade post tax, mixed in with people undercutting, the profit for crafting is vanishing.

One of the flaws of the market is that the TAX is hidden. You see the Listing fee but the shown value of the sale does not reflect the final 10% tax. This really needs to change… ArenaNet assumes that the majority of the people that play the trade post know how to do math. That is really a huge leap of faith. Please do the math for everyone and add a final number to all sales by showing people that their final sale value after tax.

Example:

Total (before sales tax) : 2g18s42c
Listing Fee: 10s92c
Final (after sales tax and listing fee): 1g85s56c

At least with this method no one will have an excuse for being an ignorant seller. And you can avoid the Hyper-Deflation. Which is just as bad a threat as Hyper-Inflation.

The Noble and Child that walk around the Statue of Dwayna in Divinity’s Reach is on a 3 minute loop of a stupid conversation of how Dwayna seems to really be looking out for her. The reason this is stupid is because of the child. The child barely reaches her waist and this is a woman’s waist. Which would put the age of the child near 5-7 years old, yet the child responds with interest as if he is interested in Theology. What child ponders the mindset of God at 5 years old? Then tops off the conversation with assuming he knows how Dwayna feels by saying “She probably appreciates it.”

The overall conversation is shallow.

Alternatively to the issue of town voices, remove the unnecessary “greeting” interaction of average NPCs that have no bearing on the world except to block your interact key when you want to talk to a banker or trade post or merchant.
