I’ve been getting rubberbanding lag every night the past few weeks so I ran a -diag like the support page suggests, but my report stops at -3. It looks kinda like this.
Can anyone tell me what this means?

EDIT: Reason I ask is other people’s and the example on Support page are all much longer than this.

I bought the Toxic Shoulders cause they were huge and matched my necro great.
I logged into the necro today to find that they are significantly smaller.
Is this intentional?
I am not happy about it obviously.
This entire set is available as rewards in the last few levels in your personal story.
(68ish-80 I think)
Just wanted to chime in and say I’m experiencing the same issue with lag for past week or so. It comes and goes but it’s always the same type of lag (rubberbanding, delayed hits on auto attacks, etc). The easiest way for me to tell if it’s happening is using the 3 skill with my thief’s shortbow, it makes you jump back but when I land, I warp a little forward or backward, like the server can’t figure out where I should be.
I don’t know how to use the tools discussed in this thread. I can tell it’s not my ISP though because nothing else lags like this while GW2 is lagging. (I’ve opened other games, ran Netflix, done a speed test, steamed music)
If it matters to compare though, I’m located in Kansas and my ISP is ATT U-Verse.
Thanks!
I wasn’t complaining exactly, though it does suck. I spent 130 dollars on tools because I play 4-5 different characters regularly and I’d have totally just banked them.
Bright side, my new alts won’t need tools so yay.
Have they mentioned any kind of perks or reimbursement for those of us that bought a set of tools for each character BECAUSE they were soulbound?
Thanks for all the responses! I looked up some static discharge stuff on youtube with the rifle and it looked fun, definitely put any worries I had to rest.
To clarify more on what exactly I’m looking for, I don’t really care that much about burst as much as I do just doing good damage and seeing it sustained.
To example: My guardian probably has the best dps/survivability fit for me when playing a 0/0/30/30/10 AH build. The damage isn’t back to back 8k crits or anything crazy, it just does good enough damage along with being extremely survivable.
Feeling like I am contributing as much as possible to a dungeon group is probably the #1 part of a class being fun for me, so when people say “play what’s fun,” that is what I am wanting to do for fun.
So in the end I want to find a good mix of being able to come out of nearly everything alive while still seeing good damage numbers to know I’m helping kill things rather than just running around healing myself.
I’ve started an asura engineer and I am in love with how the class plays so far (level 28), but I’m getting kinda worried about where I’m heading in the long run.
On my other characters I run zerker builds and usually enjoy that most, occasionally doing conditions on my necro. When I go to the Mists to preview being level 80 on my engi though, I can’t seem to find or build anything that does damage comparable to my alts (Necro, Mesmer, Guardian, Ele).
I’m not concerned with doing the top min/maxed damage, some support and survivability are good too.
I also really really like pistol/shield.
Are there any builds that use p/s and any other utilities/toolkits (I like them all) that do good damage at 80?
Or just any reassurance that it gets better? lol
Completely depends on the build. You can build bombs with great AoE damage, heavy might stacking, vulnerability stacking, and AoE heals in one build.
Also, in dungeons like Arah, The same build can easily place 12s of stealth on the group for al of the places you buzz past the mobs, no thief ever needed. I do it all the time.
Nice AoE regen and water field for blast finisher heals with Heal turret. Perma weakness with EG, and AoE removal of up to 5 conditions per group member with EG#3…………The list goes on and on.
1) guard
2) engineer
3) mes
4) ele
5) ranger
6) thief
7) warrior
8) Necro
What build(s) are you referring to that give 12s of stealth and use the EG?
I just made an engineer and have been looking for good builds that are useful for dungeons.
Am I the only one that cares? lol
After today’s patch, certain game messages that weren’t showing before are now showing in my chat log, the most annoying is the “Skill unavailable” or “on cooldown” message. (I can’t remember it right now)
The only way to make this stop is to turn off Game Messages but I use that to join my friends in PvP maps.
I regularly press skills a few times as they are about to come off cooldown to make sure they are cast as soon as possible.
Is this a bug?
Thanks!
It is kinda ridic but also the Moa skill can be dodged, interrupted, blinded, etc. so there’s alot of ways you can make the mesmer waste it.
If you get Moa’d by a mesmer in a game try and remember that he has that elite and if you see him just play very defensively letting your minions do the work.
LoS him, dodge whenever you see him doing a cast animation, and keep him blinded on cooldown.
Remember that the Moa is his elite skill and it is meant to give him an advantage if he chooses to use it, just like our Lich Form or Plague Form. (We are spoiled with the flesh golem almost always being up)
Longbow. 1200 range.
Are you serious? I’ve never noticed it having vitality before. I’ve never looked super hard, just seems like I remember it having only 3 lines of stats.
In essence, conditions in GW2 are a computer engineering nightmare. A full stack of bleed has 26 timers running and require calculations for each pr second damage tick. And that is just a single bleed stack on a single mob or character. Now do the same for 100+ mobs or characters each second, and add on timers for all the other conditions and boons.
Check out any other game, and their stacks are likely to only run up to single digits. And on top of that, there is only a single timer that will wipe the whole stack when it runs out. And the damage is largely fixed based on conditions at time of application. Meaning that once the calculations are done at time of attack, you only do a quick subtraction each damage tick.
The GW2 boons and conditions may look lovely from a design aesthetics point of view, but any sane computer engineer will be groaning in agony.
I understand all that. I can see how it’d be tough to change.
I’m glad you explained that so devs don’t have to. The question I still have is:
Is this even being worked on? And if it is, how long would the worst case scenario be on fixing it?
This matters a lot to me because I am 80 and the only progression I have to do now is gearing my character towards a certain build.
The two things that make this game fun to me are fighting with each other—my playstyle and being useful.
I’m a “MOAR DOTS!!!” player, but I also don’t like personally (I don’t care if others even realize it or not) feeling like I don’t contribute.
ANet, I need to know if that Staff is worth making or if I should give up and make an Axe.
Note: The ability to change a legendary’s stats is a cool feature but it overlooks the fact that the weapons themselves are usually tied to a type of build. A feature like this would be 1000x more amazing on armor.
Like Knote said, the LFG tool has been a concern since BWE as well and it is getting added in the next patch. It’s very possible bleed caps could get some changes and with content like this coming up I feel like the community deserves at least a touchbase with devs on the topic.
I’m not afraid of getting “made fun of.” I don’t even care. I don’t mind playing a zerker necro, it’s fun sometimes.
I prefer conditions though, and I don’t want either of these two scenarios to happen:
1. I put a lot of time into making ascended condition gear and these issues don’t get addressed for another year.
2. I put a lot of time into making ascended zerker gear and these issues get addressed shortly after.
Features like the LFG tool are fun surprises and I’m glad they’re getting around to adding them.
Information about bleed caps however, should not be a delightful surprise one day. I don’t want “stick it out” taking time to make rare items like ascended weapons and ascended armor in the future without knowing whether it will eventually be viable in PvE or not.
Lol and Anet isn’t even doing the “play how you want” thing at all, I don’t see how it ruined the game at all considering that, if that were the case you wouldn’t have to zerg to make money, and condition builds would be viable. It’s the lack of “play how you want” that’s “ruining” the game as you put it.
1. you dont have to zerg to make money. It just happens to be efficient. Its sad you cant see the difference.
2. all builds DO NOT and SHOULD not be viable for all content. condition sucks. stop complaining that it sucks and play something else. If you love conditions play spvp where they are the meta. complaining that there is only one viable build (zerk) for pve does nothing to change the fact that there is one viable build for pve.
3. and yet here we are where content is being balanced around all classes are able to complete all content. constant threads of “why is my wvw full pvt ele not able to kill liandri?” or previously “why cant 5 rangers kill simin?” Content is getting balanced so everyone on any spec in any build can complete all content and its bringing the game down to such a level that people expect to just be handed things for showing up. The question isn’t why can’t my pvt ele beat liandri its why the hell could your pvt ele even get to liandri? Can 80 necro’s beat teq? who cares go sit on a turret and let someone carry you through the fight like we end up carrying you through dungeons.
Quote what I said earlier:
This makes it very easy for players to get angry at each other over playstyle, which sucks.
Also, PVT vs Zerker is not the same or even similar argument. Though it’s interesting to point out that in this case, PVT would be more useful than Rabid or Carrion.
Complaining about not having enough damage when your gear is 66% Defensive stats is not the same as complaining about not having enough damage because the game doesn’t recognize your stats.
High condition damage does not suck on it’s own. It’s very good on it’s own. Still less damage than direct, but it makes up for that in great AoE.
Again, the point of this post is not to complain that every spec and every type of gear isn’t viable for every part of the game. I just want to know if I can make the ascended weapons I’d prefer as a necro (Staff and Scepter) and not be yelled at for going to participate in Tequatl and whatever other encounters they buff next.
one of the biggest problems with this game is this thought process that every class under any circumstances should be able to clear all the content in the game and complain about actual specs.
Um…. what?
this has been complained about since the game launched I specifically remember threads about world bosses and condition damage since a week after release. If it hasn’t been changed in a year this thread wont be the tipping point.
now why even ask if it can be done with 80 necros? In what scenario would 80 necros even attempt something like this? Why the heck should they create content that any class/spec/gear combination you think up be clearable? shouldn’t you adapt to their game instead of adapting the game to your playstyle? “Play how you want” ruined this game
You’re taking the title too literal.
The point is, this encounter is being advertised as a difficult one. It will have a timer so DPS will matter. The rewards will be good so if we fail, people will care. If everything about conditions is going to be the same as it is now, then every condition player past the first 1 or 2 to arrive at the event will be a handicap.
This makes it very easy for players to get angry at each other over playstyle, which sucks.
I feel like with an event like this coming up and the claims that are being made about it, this is a good time to ask for an update on what’s being done with conditions.
If a dev sees this post I hope they will answer because I’m sure lots of people would like to know.
I’d like to add that this is probably especially important to a lot of people now with Ascended weapons out. These items take a lot of work and it would be nice to know that if we want to work say a Rabid ascended weapon, that it will be useful in the big exciting content ANet is going to release in the future.
With the PAX Announcement about the new Tequatl and some of the changes (like the post points out, requiring 80+ people), I have wondered if I missed an announcement about bleeding caps being changed or removed.
Is there an update on this? Devs? Anyone?
For anyone who doesn’t know why I’m QQing/Inquiring/Complaining, if you are a condition profession/build, and you enter a massive fight like Tequatl, your type of damage is usually already on him and done. You can swing at him and hit him for 300ish a pop, but those extra 1k damage bleeds that come with it are nullified, where-as a zerker class gets to enjoy laying on 1-3k damage a hit.
Is the encounter going to detect what build everyone is and adjust Teq’s HP accordingly?
I’m not trying to be snarky. I just really hope the devs are still looking into this because I don’t like entering a fight and basically leeching the daily chest, especially now that a fight like Teq is actually going to be difficult and everyone’s contribution is going to be noticed (maybe).
Thoughts? Updates? Stfuandstopqqings?
Thanks!
Do you have a screenshot of this “terrible”?
I’ve been curious what Life Blast looks like for Incinerator and Frostfang. I’ve looked all over youtube and can’t find it. Does anyone have this that can show us a screenshot?
Wonder if they will allow a “heroic upgrade” like they have “digital upgrade.”
I have GW1 and all the expansions but didn’t play enough of it to get all 6 pieces of Heritage, I’d like it though.
The Heroic Edition of GW2 comes with “One Legacy Armor.”
Does this mean one piece of it or the whole set?
This is the Heritage Armor that’s currently in the game, right?
So I guess what I’m curious about is 20/30/20/0/0 vs 10/30/30/0/0.
Is it more dps to go 10 more points into Zeal for more Power and the Damage % (Greatsword or Scepter) increase? Or is it better to go 10 into Valor for the 10% crit damage?
Or is there an even better DPS option that is neither of those? This is what I want to know. Thanks!
For real? Why the staff?
If you’re being serious, what kind of traits would make this a high dps lazy build?
Hi. I’m very lazy. I’m looking for a good dps build for lazy people.
I basically want to use a greatsword mainly with sword/shield or scepter/shield as secondary weapons and I’ve tried a few builds like 20/30/20/0/0 and 10/30/30/0/0.
I’m just looking for some experts advice on what would put out the most damage. I’m not too concerned with survivability, I already got full exotic berserker gear and weapons so I don’t feel like getting a whole other set. I just want to be able to run around with my friends pew pewing guardian style.
My issue is when I’m running these different builds they seem very similar and I’m just curious which one (after theorycrafting etc) technically has the most damage potential.
And I’m super lazy so I favor meditations that I can just use when they are off CD or Signets that I rarely use at all!
Feedback appreciated!
“1. Very, you can pull of 10-20k instant damage from 1200 range if you are traited for it. Zerkerr eles, Zerker guardians, long bow rangers and thiefs in general are more or less oneshotted.”
How do you do this? What kind of traits, etc? Scepter/torch?
I’m very interested in that and specifics of the 0/30/30/5/5 spec.
When I did support it was a symbol based build with altruistic healing. It worked well except when conditions came in because shouts don’t have very good condition removal (compared to meditations).
Since you run scepter/shield, what kind of build do you use with that since scepter doesn’t have a symbol?
Thanks guys I finally got top on the scoreboards in a match playing the spec from the 2nd video.
Thanks to y’all I’ve gone from wanting to just try a different class to liking so many different guardian builds I can’t decide which to play!
Thanks again!
Thanks I will watch this later at work! Thanks so much for the fast responses guys, you’ve renewed my excitement for the guardian class!
Would meditations be something like 0/30/30/5/5? And what kind of weapons would that use? I’ve had the most fun with scepter/torch and sword/focus as DPS but I still die so much I can’t break halfway up the leaderboard, so I feel like I’m doing something wrong.
Thanks for the responses.
So what is the current “meta” guardian? Is it bunker? I’ve seen build links for bunkers that are usually hammer/staff or hammer/scepter-shield. But I don’t understand how to bunker with these. (I feel like a super noob)
I get that hammer/staff/shield can all knock people off points and block them, but these things only last for 2-6 seconds, people just come right back after that and burst my 13k health down.
Is there any way to have fun playing solo as a bunker? Or is there another meta made for solo play?
Thanks!
I mained a necro. When I heard they were going to nerf terror after they buffed us 2 weeks ago, I decided to finish leveling my guardian and play it instead.
It’s very possible that I just suck but after all that time playing necro and doing -decent- while it was struggling, I’d figure I could at least hold one person from a point.
It’s terrible, though. I feel like paper. I’ve tried all the specs I’ve found here related to sPvP (a lot from Silven’s post), and the burst ones are nice but none of them will kill someone, they get them down to 10-20% if I pull it all off, then the opponent kills me because by then I have 8 conditions on me and I’m nearly dead.
I was very interested in being support/healy too, but even when I took every healing related trait I could find and paired it with Dwayna runes and Cleric’s amulet, two enemies could still come along and burst me down in seconds.
Are other people having trouble with Guardian in PvP or am I doing something terribly wrong? I really want help lol.
I’m not picky, I’d enjoy being a bunker or full dps or anything in between, I just want to be able to play some spvp once a day and get my dailies done without having to switch to my necro to get Top Stats.
Are there good guides for PvP that I’m missing? Any help would be appreciated!
Any suggestions?
Nobody else having this issue?
Two things happened:
-I installed Windows 8.1
-Some small GW2 patch installed when I logged in
I don’t know which did it, but for some reason my cursor won’t disappear when I right or left click to adjust the camera.
It starts off working but after I hit both buttons simultaneously to run, it stops disappearing.
This happening to anyone else? Driving me crazy.
I’ve been playing a necro at level 80 for a few weeks, and for some reason it just hit me that when I join a large fight as a conditionmancer, I do no damage.
I’ve tried reading about the Bleed Cap and I’ve seen some posts from devs saying they’re working on it. I’m just curious how long has this been a thing? Is there a side of the Bleed Cap argument that’s in favor of it that’s keeping it around?
Am I missing something? How is it okay for 2 classes to do damage and the other 20+ involved in the fight do nothing but 150 direct per hit?
I’m not trolling. I’m genuinely curious about what the status of this “Bleed Cap” is. Is there a message from the devs that I have missed? Is this getting hotfixed tomorrow?
Unfortunately there’s not enough room on my SSD for both the game and a Windows 8 installation.
I guess the issue is the local.dat file is under Users/[My Profile]/My Documents/Guild Wars 2, and there’s no way to move that, is there?
If I move just the Users folder to the SSD would that cause an issue?
The Gw2.dat file on my SSD was last modified yesterday (5/29/2013).
The Local.dat file on the HDD was last modified today (5/30/2013).
I’m not sure what you mean by linking. Does this answer that for you?
Thanks for the quick response!
I have a Solid State Drive and a Hard Disk Drive.
I installed Guild Wars 2 on the SSD but the updates seem to be going to a file called Local.dat in a folder on my HDD.
Is it possible to safely move this folder to the SSD and have it install updates and everything GW2 related there from now on?
Let me know if more details are needed.
Thanks!
