I hope nobody forgets that World Summit is still bugged.
It’s been said that they haven’t been able to reproduce it.
If any developer wants to reproduce the issue at any time they just need to get me into their party and they’ll have the bug reproduced as many times as they need.
I’ll vote for 2.5. Silverwastes is a very good example of a very good reward system IMO.
An extremely easy way to reproduce the bug with a 100% success rate is to invite me to the party before you start the instance.
I wonder if it has something to do with wrong information somewhere in my character’s file which makes the game think I still haven’t played through that mission yet.
The World Summit’s Challenge Mote isn’t there. I’ve tried restarting it a couple of times already. It just doesn’t show up.
Has anyone else noticed that Signet of Might’s icon has a black background while all of the other warrior signets share the same standard dark yellow background and all of the other professions signets share the same standard background?
This has been bothering me so much that I avoid slotting it in order to avoid looking at it. (OCPD)
Guild Wars 2’s artwork is gorgeous. Besides that, I like dodging and self sufficient characters instead of the trinity. But that’s it. For all the rest it seems like Guild Wars 2 is being managed by a small team of amateurs. It feels like a kittening indie game.
Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
“Relax, " said the night man,
“We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! "
Gear inspection is good and should be in the game.
What bothers me the most is that there have been developer posts in threads about this issue but they did not say a thing related to whether this was or wasn’t intended.
im not sure but i LOVE the fact i have the shoulder pieces now on my female asura, but if im honest… whats the point in having the shoulders as a separate item?? why have hey made them part of the chest and not just as a normal individual item?
Changes to existing stuff split opinions. Some will love and some will hate. I would really like to get a refund if this change was intended though, since I would not pay 119 gold for this look since I don’t like it.
Q: Was the change made to female asura light T3 cultural armor intended?
For those who don’t know, female asura characters used to show a separate, female version of light T3 cultural armor. After the patch there is only one version of the said armor: the male version.
It’s a very simple question and I’m pretty sure it’s just a matter of the developer or moderator who sees this asking to their art development friend. Yes or no?
This might be trivial to some people, but it’s not trivial at all to me. To know that a visual I paid 119 gold for can get changed to something I dislike at any moment weights a lot in my decision about where I’ll spend my entertainment time.
Wow.
That is really incredibly unhelpful. Instead of support actually trying to help you resolve the issue, they tell you to post on the Suggestions forum? To do what – suggest that ANet stop having bugs in their game?
It basically is an “I don’t care” – he shuffled you off to somewhere completely irrelevant, where you won’t get anyone to address this problem.Did you file this as a bug, or as something else?
Obviously, this shouldn’t have happened in the first place, but if it’s not fixed yet, I would post it on the bugs forum with screenshots, and refile the claim as a bug, because this can’t be anything but that.
They have averred that they are unable to do rollbacks for people regardless of what kind off mess the owner, or ANet, have made of the account, but I would try nevertheless.
I’ve post about this in a couple of places already. I’ve also replied to Support’s response asking for clarification.
Thank you guys for the support. This is so messed up. So many bugs everywhere the team can’t even care about most of them.
Female Asura Light T3 now looks like the male version. Please fix it.
In case this was a design decision and an intended change, please give me back the 119 gold I’ve spent on it since I’d never want this look on my female asura.

I just logged in (for the first time after the patch since I had ISP problems for three days) and noticed my female asura character is wearing the male version of asura light T3 cultural armor, with big helmet “ears” and shown shoulder piece like the male version. I got extremely disappointed with that. Is that a bug? Did the developers just decide female asura light T3 armor should be the same as the male version? I would like to understand what happened since I’m extremely disappointed with the new look. If this was an intentional change I’d like to receive a refund of the gold I’ve spent to buy this armor set since I never wanted my character to look like it is now, but instead desire the look it had before the patch. I’ve uploaded pictures of my character before and after the change for reference.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for taking the time to report this to us. We really appreciate your thoughts on the matter. We are unable to say if this was a change made in one of the most recent updates as it would have been done so on the Development side of things. We’re sorry if you do not care for the way the armor around the ears display now.
The best way for your feedback or suggestions to reach someone in development is for you to post your ideas within our Official Forums in the Suggestions sub-forum located here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions. Please be sure to read the forum post on how the suggestions sub-forum works: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/How-This-Sub-Forum-Works, and note that using the forums for suggestions is temporary until a better solution for collecting your suggestions can be implemented.
While members of the Development Team are not always able to respond, having suggestions available in a public area helps them gauge the amount of interest for various ideas, and also allows other players to discuss and offer feedback of their own.
Regards,
Steven – Guild Wars Support Team

Err… So he’s sorry I “do not care”? I’m pretty sure I made it very clear that I DO care about how my armor now looks like the male version?
From what I understood the only real meaning of this response is to tell me that Support doesn’t know if this was intended or not and that’s it? Can somebody please help me understand this reply? What should I do or where should I go to to ask for support on either having this fixed or getting my gold back?
Developers are so burried under a mountain of bugs they will never have time to fix them all. Some of them will haunt us until the day GW2 shuts down.
Can anybody else confirm to me if this is a general problem? I mean, am I the only one affected by this bug or are all female asura in light T3 cultural also wearing the male version now?
I just logged in (for the first time after the patch since I had ISP problems) and noticed my Female Asura is wearing the Male version of Asura Light T3, with big helmet “ears” and shown shoulder piece like the Male version.
I’m extremely disappointed with that.
Is that a bug? Did ANet just decide Female Asura Light T3 should be the same as Male is?
Please somebody help me understand this since I’m pretty disappointed with this change.
I’ll agree to people being able to turn off the bow’s effects when I can turn off bad dye jobs and change names I don’t like into bad puns.
I’m pretty sure every worn item has “standard” dyes for when they are first put on and stuff. I don’t think bad dyes call as much attention as the discussed effect, though.
Let me try to be more “neutral”. I believe the majority of people here will at least agree to the fact that the Dreamer’s effect stands out substantially more than the other legendaries?
Would it be OK if we put it in a “stronger visual effect” category and give people a display option to “turn off stronger visual effects”? That way people who like it will have it displayed, and people who don’t like it don’t have to see it?
Come on… now don’t come with trying to force people to see it? :P It’ll end up becoming a real life mental torture weapon.
Wow whats up with all the people that take things waaaaay too seriously? I think the bow is pretty cool and hilarious in a way.
i would like to see anet do more of these!
Well, maybe ANet doesn’t want us to take their game seriously after all. It seems to be catering to the “who cares, it’s just a game” more than to the “passionate”.
I surely have to rethink what this game means to me. :P To think that I might be taking it more seriously than its creators makes me worry about myself. Lol. :P
(Part 2)
On a side, clarification note: I like the quaggan backpack. All of my characters are female Asuras because I see them like children/bunnies and I like children and their voice acting. I made a guardian and I enjoyed spamming “Save Yourselves” just to hear it over and over. I wish the quaggan backpack was bigger like it is on humans so I can see it better on my Asura. I’m not buying the broom because it doesn’t spark my interest. I just don’t care about it. I don’t care about the others riding them since it’s not in my face, so I just ignore it. I just think that the unicorn projectiles (and its rainbows’ intense brightness) are out of place in such a way that, in my limited knowledge of english, I lack the words to express it appropriately and politely. It directly and negatively impacts my gaming experience, which is unfortunate to me.
While reviewing my text I just noticed a word was filtered out to “kitten”. The start had to do with “troll” and the rest had to do with that acronym for “laughing out loud”. I had no idea it was offensive. I find it extremely funny, though, that while the word was filtered out in the forums, the flashy unicorn projectile is in the game. :P
Just throwing my 2 cents in here because I can. I’m a brony, I actually have the character name “Brony” in game, I’ve been watching MLP:FiM for a couple years now, and I loved the concept of having a legendary bow with a MLP influence. In fact, I was working towards acquiring it… but it’s now over the top. The projectiles are too big and it’s fairly distracting. The Dreamer could be changed in an alternative way while maintaining its MLP influence.
I’d say revert the projectiles back to just the unicorn head like they were, keep the new rainbow stream effect on the projectiles, and add a rainbow trail behind the player similar to that of Rainbow Dash’s. The current projectile is just too big and there are better ways to make it stand out more.
Thank you so much for that. That was near perfect.
I’m still following the thread since the start and I like it that many arguments were carefully written out and presented instead of it becoming a hate fest.
I just got back from work and it saddened me not being able to comment on many good posts I read while there (I can navigate the forums, but logging in is blocked for some reason, so I couldn’t answer).
The most interesting thing about participating in the forums is that it changes me. I didn’t really care about Kuzdu. The fact that Quip existed annoyed me, though. I could live with it, though. I’ve never seen anybody using it in the game anyways. Now after the new Dreamer effect Quip seems so subtle and belonging. Lol. :P I didn’t care about the Dreamer before. It just didn’t attract me since I found it “silly”. I’d never pay 5 gold for it.
I really always struggle to come up with words (english is not my main language) to express how I felt when I saw the video of the new Dreamer effect. “kitten” might be the closest word. Now after that I started to wonder what Guild Wars 2 represents to the development team. I have no clue at this moment. I know it represents “a lot”, I have no doubt, but what exactly? A comedy fantasy game? (No sarcasm.) That’s the route it seems to be trailing to.
I was having lunch and thinking about it, and the only conclusion I could come up with was: the development team must have been under a huge amount of stress. I laugh a lot in real life, with family, friends etc. When I log into the game, I’m looking for a medieval fantasy setting, for sPvP, for WvW, not for a comedy show (not for a dark fantasy terror setting either, mind you). Even some of the new Dreamer defenders admitted that it is a troll weapon, but that they like it. Maybe the development team has been under such a huge amount of stress that they unconsciously needed to “unleash” their intense need for “fun” and “laughter” in the game’s code.
Doesn’t hurt to make it clearer: IMO, the problem is not in the bow itself, nor in the rainbow trails themselves, is that the size of the unicorns (besides the fact that the projectile is a kittening unicorn, lol) and the brightness of the rainbows are making it so flashy that it’s “trolling” the whole setting of the game. In my humble view of what Guild Wars 2 is, or better yet, in the “theme” set by Guild Wars 2 concept art (go find a rainbow there, or in any of the teaser trailers), that simply doesn’t fit. It doesn’t fit in such a way (and with such intensity) that it’s funny that I even have to say it like this, with explanations and arguments. :P
Anyways. It’s been roughly a day and many comments were made already. I sincerely hope there can be a way to work things out to keep both the fans of flashiness and the fans of more “traditional” fantasy settings happy. Maybe we could set it back to what it was before? Maybe we could have, say, a unicorn horn (instead of the whole thing) as a projectile with less bright rainbows (like the Bifrost’s more subtle rainbows)?
Otherwise, I sincerely think a display option to turn the effects off would be a very good thing. I myself would be perfectly pleased with that. I’d just turn it off and resume living in my fun, trolless, fantasy world.

Hmm. I’m guessing the forums have run out of complaints if we have resorted to complaining about a rare bow that only 2 classes can use that fires magical unicorns.
It is a shame indeed that ANET is not allowed to have one silly, fun item in its grand arsenal. They should probably change it so that each time you fire it, a disembodied head fires out with a trail of blood while a woman screams.
Why not a rainbow arrow? It’d be perfectly OK. I could even like it in its own way. The problem is not in the rainbow itself (even though I don’t think they fit the theme, some people like them) but the fact the bow is firing a kittening unicorn! Besides that, the size of the unicorn… it’s too big.
The unicorn Bow is probably the second most popular legendary in terms of looks, right behind Twilight. They seem to know what the majority of players want in terms of flying unicorns.
I’m surprised Kudzu isn’t more popular, I mean sprouting flowers and that, that’s pretty cool.
Bifrost is a rainbow thing and doesn’t break immersion. I want a legendary staff for my elementalist, but I’ll wait for another since I don’t like it. Kudzu is flowery. I don’t love it, but I’d rather go for it over Bifrost. Kudzu is alright because even flowery it’s subtle.
Now that size of a flying rainbow unicorn is just stupid. It’s so obviously out of place that I’m absolutely sure that, just like me, a lot of people thought it was a photoshop trolling attempt when they saw the first screenshot. It fits an April 1st joke, not this game.
always makes me laugh how people are apparently too manly and/or serious to be able to bear the presence of this bow.
Yup, the same thing happened at release with ppl complaining about mesmer and purple butterflies effects… it just didn’t suit their manly man aesthetics.
I also have a sneaking suspicion ppl complaining about it being “childish”..are probably 15-25 and desperate to prove how adult they are.
You know, it has nothing to do with being too manly or serious, or young.
Now, I can’t speak for anyone else, but I just think that you don’t have to have the fluffy bunny stuff in a game carrying the “Guild Wars” name. I have no objection to the bow itself. I object to it firing rainbow pretties. It is, frankly, stupid and very, very childish.
(…)
Any fantasy game requires a suspension of disbelief – a very high suspension – to be effectively immersive. For that immersion to work, things in the world have to make sense. One of these things is not like the other. One of these things just doesn’t belong.
That’s why the ridiculous pretty rainbow kills immersion.
It’s got nothing to do with masculinity, seriousness or age. It’s got to do with something that doesn’t fit in the world it’s been shoved into.
I’m 28. I’m married to a woman. We’re about to have a baby. I’ll buy her (my wife) a GW2 account. I’ll buy her a quaggan backpack. I have one. No big deal, but I like it because it fits my Asura. I have 8 Asuras (one of each profession) because I like them. They look like children and I like children. I find their voice and looks cute and stuff. I created a top sized Norn, a top sized Charr, but then deleted them and stick to Asura. (I’m the OP, for whoever didn’t bother to check my username.)
I still think the dreamer was a bad idea (and this is an understatement).
I still wonder how the kitten the idea got through. I’d pay to be there when the idea was first presented in their meetings.
You’ve used very well written text to explain the reasons why the present dreamer effect is bad. Anything I could say politely would be an understatement. Can’t really express how stupid it is without resorting to swear words. Lol. It really is comparable to making the predator shoot, say, ice-smoking Jormag minis. It’s just stupid.
I’m your fan.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a hater (only a Dreamer effect hater). I love this game deeply. That’s the reason for so much passion.
i guess the game is not discriminating and EVERYBODY can find something they like, even the “different” peeps.
It’s kinda hard to not pick up on the undercurrent of homophobia in a lot of the complaints in this thread… but way to make it crystal clear.
Caught that comment and couldn’t go silent.
I hope it is very clear that there is absolutely nothing to do with homophobia in my anti-rainbow/anti-unicorn opinion. It is the breaking of immersion that annoys me. The effect would be exactly the same if the bow shot flaming Rock Dogs: it just makes absolutely no sense.
I play a ranger who is wearing mostly the cash shop armor with all the bones and fangs on it, with the skull facepiece, and the skull shoulders from the Halloween event. I had wanted an Arachnophobia for him as well but haven’t got around to making one. But when I saw this bow being used….well….
HARMONY HARMONY OH LOVE
This really shows how different everyone is and how hard it would be to please everyone. I am a girly-girl. Almost all my characters are decked out in pinks and purples. I cursed my color choice of hair ribbons on my main until the day make-over kits came out. I have deleted girls just because I didn’t like their hair style. I love mini-pets and all things flashy and cute.
And, having said ALL that, I would not use this bow. It is just toooo sweet even for me.
But I have no problem with those who do like it and even that it was created. It would be nice to be able to turn off the gooey sweetness but I’ll just choose another type of weapon to work toward aquiring.
Thank for that. Thank you for that. Thank you for that.
Please… an option to turn it off. Pretty please!!!
The unicorn Bow is probably the second most popular legendary in terms of looks, right behind Twilight. They seem to know what the majority of players want in terms of flying unicorns.
It’s a troll weapon with a troll design. This update took it too far. If I ever see rainbow unicorns coming out of a bow from a nearby player, I’m leaving the area immediately. I will not party with someone with this bow, this graphic is far too immersion breaking for me. I understand the desire to make legendaries special to make them appealing and justify their exorbitant cost, but the design and presence of this weapon directly takes away from my experience in the game.
They went to far and at some point the designed need to recognise that you can cross a line where a legendary item will detract from the experience of people around them. I believe this weapon (especially compared with the other legendaries) clearly crosses that line.
I’d love the option to turn this off.
A +1 for that.
Dearest ANet developers,
Please give us the option to turn off the “unicorny” effects.
Lol. Believe or not, whenever I re-watch the video, I think to myself: “I still can’t believe they did this to the game.”
Now a request: If GW2 is going to become more and more a “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” bullkitten in the future, please tell me in advance so I can start looking for a more “for real” MMORPG already.
If the first thing your mind jumps to upon seeing a unicorn is MLP, that’s on you.
GW has always had some silly elements, if you absolutely have to take yourself so seriously, then ya, you’re better off looking for a more “for real” manly-man game of seriousness+4.
Thank you for the answer. That’s honestly what I was looking for with the post. I really didn’t know exactly what GW was about (didn’t play GW1 not even saw any videos) so maybe this game is just not what I expected. Still, it’s the best we have at the moment. Still a masterwork in so many aspects.
What’s with the rage about a unicorn rainbow bow. I think it’s great, unique and original in stead of the usual typical ‘moar spikes, moar black and deadly flames and skulls’ type of legendaries in most games.
Everyone’s entitled to an opinion and of course if you don’t like it you don’t like it but there’s other legendaries that are the cool type so something light hearted and funny is refreshing to be honest. I like it
Wouldn’t hurt to give us the display option to turn the “rainbow flashiness” off for those moments where you want a little immersion or less rainbowness overall.
The unicorn Bow is probably the second most popular legendary in terms of looks, right behind Twilight. They seem to know what the majority of players want in terms of flying unicorns.
Well, you’re right on that.
I myself saw the quaggan backpack for the first time and thought: “whatever”. The patch hits in, I open the store, I look at the thing, it looks back at me, I hit “buy” and now it’s on my back. My Asura Cultural T3 used to be Oxblood and Coccoa. Now it’s Blue Sky and White Gold: http://imgur.com/QL9GRZ4
I want them to make it bigger on Asura too. :P
Unfortunately, I still hate rainbows and flying unicorns, though, specially when they’re supposed to be bow projectiles and I like some degree of immersion. I really hope my opinion changes in the future. I know the world won’t change because of me. :P
It really makes me wonder how the idea got through…
I mean, if I was in a meeting where people got asked for ideas on how to make/improve a cool legendary bow and somebody came up with that, I’m pretty sure every single person present would be 100% sure he was joking, laugh pretty loud and then, after the laughter wore off, go on: “Ok. Ok. Let’s start with the ideas.”
Now to witness that kind of thing actually making into the game made me sad. I don’t know what’s wrong with some of the development. It even sparks my dark imagination on trying to figure how somebody can actually convince other people to implement that into a game like GW2.
Now Reddit people downvoted me for not liking it, so I guess I’m the minority.

Now a request: If GW2 is going to become more and more a “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” bullkitten in the future, please tell me in advance so I can start looking for a more “for real” MMORPG already.
Come on… Quip was already a bad joke. I felt bad just because it even exists in this game. Now this… Poor me.
Sorry for the rudeness. I’m too passionate about this game being such a masterwork piece of art. I couldn’t stand the unicorn thing… Really sorry.

For some weapon sets, the AOE options may be too strong compared to the single target options, which is what we aim to address.
Can we get a more specific example? I mean a concrete case with a concrete skill usage? That will help a lot to let us know what exactly is the problem and thus be able to provide useful feedback.
Ok. A personal and quick question, since I’ve started to wonder:
Is this really about general AoE issues or just about “Meteor Shower” being considered OP?
Seeing how the development team seems to have its mind already made up on the subject, I think it’s more a matter of design decision, of choosing to make the game be more like a mass action FPS, than of keeping it within the WvW war theme.
In a war of armies against armies, AoE is, yes, supposed to be the way to go, whenever possible. In a war, AoE should and is supposed to rule. Compare the number of automatic weapons, grenades and rocket launchers with the number of sniper rifles. When a real world army defends or tries to take a position, what does it set up to block enemy advancement? Sniper rifles? No. Machineguns. What weapons do they use to press forward or to maintain terrain? Automatic rifles and grenades.
It wouldn’t make much sense if, in any case in the presence of mass enemies, the “single target” skill is the best option. The downed enemy getting rezzed by his teammates case comes to my mind. I doubt a soldier would keep firing exclusively at the downed enemy OR at one of his rezzers. He’d spread autofire or throw a grenade. That’d make sure the downed soldier dies and if the others do not leave, they’ll get down too.
Making this shorter: If there are professions which do not have sufficient AoE skills for WvW, give them the AoE’s. AoE’s are supposed to be the weapon of choice in a war between masses. Do not force people to go single target when there are obvious reasons to go AoE.
Now, a valid idea concerning range. Maybe all of the professions, and not just the longbow wielding ones, could use a good “sniper like” single target long"er" range skill, channeled maybe. Or maybe those should be restricted to rangers (or also to warriors). That way they’d have something to make up for their lack of more pressurizing AoE’s. IMO each profession should remain with a “general WvW area where he’s innately better at”. Thieves shouldn’t be as good as elementalists to stay on the wall and try to slow the invading army down, just as elementalists shouldn’t be as good as thieves at infiltrating and assassinating picked targets.
Shortening once again: Instead of balancing by nerfing some professions’ AoE’s, buff the others. WvW is supposed to be about AoE most of the time, it’s just the smart way of dealing with masses. Buffing AoE for whoever needs a buff instead of the other way will encourage smart, strategical and tactical play instead of “stack up” play.
And please, please, be very careful when making changes. Many love this game. Many love their characters and their playstyles. Some of us trust your ability to make awesome patches. Please, be careful when messing with all of that.
(edited by VBMeireles.4951)
I fail to see how AoE’s themselves are such a problem. I also fail to see the “obvious option” issue.
My main character is an elementalist. I have one character of each profession and I use some of them to play PvP.
Concerning my elementalist, when I’m against multiple targets (specially when they’re low health targets) I usually go staff (for the AoE), and when I’m against bosses (or single high health targets) I go daggers.
The higher damage output from the daggers that justifies my weapon swap is restricted to my main target. The AoE’s from the dagger skills that hit those nearby do not hit as hard as the staff’s AoE’s and are on longer cooldowns, so it’s actually an approach option. I can choose to do major damage to one single target and minor to those nearby or to do medium damage to everybody.
I face the exact same approach decisions while in WvW. That’s the reason why I usually roam around (or get from one place to another) with daggers on. When I’m attacking or defending a keep I usually put the staff on.
I try to cast Meteor Shower on the enemy army (I don’t like the word “zerg” :P) when I can just to try to force them back and/or slow down the siege. I, however, never intend to actually kill anyone but those extremely not smart enough (:P) to leave the area and wait for the skill to end. It’s important to say that they also have to be extremely unlucky to be killed by a Meteor Shower, since the meteors spread a lot. That’s when I’m not pulled by necromancers or mesmers to my death or interrupted either by interrupting skills or raw damage before I can do enough channeling.
I believe the AoE system in its current state is OK. Actually, I love that it exists as it does. The game is better because of it. Nerfing AoE will remove a big component from the game and a lot of good strategies (the chokepoint approach for small army tactics for example) from WvW.
Please do not reduce the effectiveness of AoE in WvW or anywhere else. It is an element that adds a lot to the game and should not be reduced/removed.
If there is an imbalance (which I fail to see) between professions in this matter, give the ones that lack it more AoE options instead of removing them from the professions that have it in abundance.
It’s been said that AoE is “too predominant” in WvW. In my humble opinnion, it is natural that AoE is the chosen option when dealing with mass enemies. It is not hard to picture. In real world armies set up machineguns (highly spread bullets meant to hit many targets in a cone) and not sniper rifles to counter the advance of enemy armies.

After I double click any game I often find myself having to wait from one to two minutes for it to give me an error message and allow me to try again. Sometimes I have to try like 3 or 4 times (while having to wait the full one or two minutes between each try) to be able to enter a game.
What’s up with it? I’m pretty sure I read somebody else having the same problem somewhere? Is it just me or is it a general thing?
GW2 is not trying to distance itself from traditional MMORPG. Unlike most seemed to believe (I’m included) it’s actually a now spoken out attempt to approach the traditional MMORPG idea.
Not saying I want them, but we should expect seeing mounts sooner or later.
(This is actually a copy and paste of something I posted an hour earlier on Reddit. The official forums are blocked where I work.)
As a player who is a bit completionist, I’d like to make a legendary one day. The problem is that I play an elementalist as a main and I don’t like rainbows. I like the Incinerator, but I use a staff 90% of the time, so I’d really like to have a legendary looking staff that I’d actually like to see being woven around.
After thinking for a bit I came to this idea (which was kind of already mentioned in a reply to a two weeks old post) and, because tastes differ so much, I’d like to know what people think about this particular one:
A legendary staff that would be pretty neutral by itself, but would change light and particle effects according to its wielder (and their attunement, if an elementalist):
Necromancer: Shadows and a locust swarm on the upper end.
Elementalist: Flames, sparks, frost and hovering rocks.
Guardian: Blue/golden halo(s).
Mesmer: Hovering pieces of a shattered purple/pink mirror.
Or at least make each of these looks a separate legendary (but keep the elementalist’s four-in-one as only one :P).
Genius Epaulets and Genius Boots, Asura T2 Light Cultural Armor for Shoulder and Foot, respectively, currently show the icons of their Asura T2 Heavy Cultural Armor counterparts, as shown in the attached screenshot. The other pieces of the set are correct.
I’ve posted this as a reply to the sticky character art thread, but because I wasn’t sure if that was the right place to put it, I’ve opened up this thread to report it. I’m pretty sure it’s just a matter of correcting a file path string as I’m pretty sure the icons are done but just incorrectly linked.
Has this been brought up already?
Genius Epaulets and Genius Boots, Asura T2 Light Cultural Armor for Shoulder and Foot, respectively, currently show the icons of their Asura T2 Heavy Cultural Armor counterparts, as shown in the attached screenshot. The other pieces of the set are correct.
I’m pretty sure the development team will soon implement something like the third party LFG system in the game.
The sticky is there to help people know about the great tool until it gets implemented in the game.
Wasn’t intended to answer the question of why there isn’t a cost clone of the defensive one.
Wouldn’t a content designer be in the best place to answer that question?
The extremely well written original post deserves publicity.
I share the same feelings and opinion.
I’m really looking forward to see the 3A MMOG with no stat progression.
If Ascended rings were available on the TP they would end up becoming easily obtainable like exotics and people would be left with “nothing else to do” again, as they’ve said in the past. That was the reason the Ascended stuff was put in. When that happens they will have to create yet a new “Transcended” tier or something like that. :P
I guess eternal grinding, or rather, gear “progression”, is part of what an MMORPG is. To most people it seems that if you have nothing to work (grind, like some would say) for to make you more powerful (because, for most people, new content doesn’t seem to be enough if it doesn’t make you more powerful), “there’s nothing to do”.
Thank you for the nice replies, guys.
I’ve been reading about the subject and I’ve been enlightened by some of the answers.
I’ll probably take it a lot easier from now on and play the game because I enjoy it and not to be at the top as fast as possible.
Back in WoW I wondered why some people still played the game even if they decided not to buy some expansions and stay level 60/70 whatever.
Now I know the reason. :P They enjoyed the content, but didn’t like the gear grinding.
I will feel bad I spent so much to get it. ;P
If you’re seeing empty zones, consider changing servers. I’ve been on two different servers in my time on GW2 (which started during the three-day headstart), and I have yet to encounter a single empty zone or an event that did not have plenty of people involved to beat it.
As far as the Ascended items are concerned, do what a large majority of us do…ignore it. Having or not having those items doesn’t affect how we play the game at all. I don’t think that this will change.
A year from now, I think this game will be doing fine.
Try to relax. It’s just a game. And, at this point, it is what you make of it.
Thank you for the nice answer.
I had concerns similar to that of the OP, and this enlightened me. I have questions still to be answered (opened a topic about it) but this sounds like a really good solution if it turns out things happen in a way I wouldn’t like them to happen.
Thank you once again.
I’ve just finished forging a “Quiver of Swift Flight” which I started to want so much after the Ascended gear came in the game. I’m not saying I’m happy about the introduction of Ascended gear, but that’s not what this topic is about. A stronger back piece came up and I wanted to have it so I went after it. My back piece was crap and I thought it was worthwhile to work hard for one that was going to be the BIS (or so I thought at least).
After a lot of farming and spending all of my gold reserves (I bought part of the materials from the TP) I finally made it and I’m happy with it so far, but then a question came to my mind.
I spent quite some time and resources to get it. Recent official statements informed us that, unlike some (including me) seemed to think, GW2 was built to have gear progression to the full extent of the word and even to have the level cap raised in the future.
Then the question is: what will happen to all of those so hard to get pieces of Ascended gear? I don’t suppose they will scale up to level 90 when the level cap raises?
Will they become obsolete (like exotic back pieces and rings just did)?
Will I be able to loot from a, say, level 90 mob an item that is equally or (most probably) even stronger than the Ascended item which cost me so much to get?
Will I be able to use the Mystic Forge to “upgrade” the Ascended item that set me back so much so I don’t have to work as hard as someone going from scratch to get the new BIS level/tier?
I’d really like to know the answer to these questions because they’re going to help me decide what I’m going to do in the game from now on. If a new BIS comes (and it will come) in the future and I won’t be able to upgrade the Ascended item which set me back so much, I will have to rethink my play style (maybe I’ll even rethink my choice of game).
I was brought to GW2 by premises that weren’t absolutely true in their entirety. However, those premises weren’t stated by ArenaNet, but by other fellow players, YouTube videos and gaming sites’ reviews who in turn were just saying what they believed to be true. I guess there’s nobody to blame.
I would like to know what exactly I should expect from GW2 in the next months and years. That will help me decide how I want to play GW2, and even IF I want to play it. Maybe I’m thinking GW2 is/will be something that it isn’t/won’t be. It’s an awesome game, even if it turns out not what I expected.
I’m just trying to avoid the sadness that might come after hours of dedicated playtime when something happens that I do not want to happen. I just want clarifications about the many false ideas I had and about what kind of game GW2 really is/will be.
Help me! :P
