Yes, a Ranger buff. Please read, people. Previously the Ranger only got half the Toughness buff the pet did, now the Ranger gets the full amount.
For the record I have it bound to 1 button on my Razer mouse. No delay needed, just Jump (down/up) then Dodge (down/up).
I found it was too iffy jump-dodging when it’s needed most, and accidentally rolling to my death is not fun.
Very clever…
There is a longsword, it’s just shortened to “sword”; just as the Greatsword could be referred to as a two-handed sword.
Great post lordhelmos. Happy to see you’re enjoying the good side of the Ranger too
1) Greatsword is not a high DPS weapon (that’s the main point)
2) While your weapon may be Rare it’s still 7 levels lower than your character level and it’s probable your armour isn’t at char level either
3) Your pet is essentially using a max level weapon so it’s better geared than you, due to the way pets scale; as you get higher level the pet will generally do a lower % of your total damage
4) Jaguar is a full-on DPS pet, especially when using Stalk (all crits from stealth)
I still don’t understand why Zephyr doesn’t break stun.
Not sure why Quickening Zephyr should break stun. Why should a damage buff break stun? We could certainly do with more but really, especially as a skill that pretty much everyone takes, why should it break stun? I’m curious, does anyone else’s quickness buffs break stun?
You think we’re the only class that gets obstructed? No.
“Pets are instagibbed in WvW as are we” – are we magically more susceptible to damage or are you possibly just maybe overreacting?
Am I the only person that finds it amusing debating whether to use a cosmetic item or not?
What it really comes down to is whether you like the look of the weapon on your character. For starters, the legendary will last forever and the current state of play with GS skills on any class is not static so I don’t think you should base your decision on how overpowered/underpowered the GS skills are currently.
Good luck on getting it though.
Ah, gotcha. Shame we didn’t get an actual buff
Just thought I should clarify this; the 85% damage increase only applies to Path of Scars if you did not trait Off Hand Training.
Well, I tried it out on patch day – the damage on tooltip went up (by 85%) compared to pre-patch and was not reduced when selecting either axe/offhand-specific trait. Damage on mobs was identical traited/untraited too, i.e. no nerf. Has this changed since?
I notice you said that longbow has the most dps, but most of what I’ve read said that shortbow has the most dps because it’s so much faster. Could you elaborate on differences between them that you’ve seen?
Ezekiel.1985My ranger uses (I use three weapon sets), longbow, sword/axe, and greatsword…
QZ makes you fire twice as fast, which means you finish Rapid Fire twice as fast. As designed.
Anet is based in PST timezone, and have ALWAYS used PST for their events. Why would you think this event would be any different?
Actually they gave GMT timings for the rest of this event. They just gave no indication that today would be dictated by PST times only, which is the point I was making.
Are you being deliberately obtuse? For everything they gave times for, they gave them in PST and GMT. Do you really want them to say “patch released sometime today PST and simultaneously in EU”??
Just turn away from the target…or press X.
Unfortunately there’s not a single post or any evidence to say that the patch on 15th will bring any profession changes.
The patch most definitely will have bug fixes for ranger. I fixed two earlier today alone. Realistically, however we can only do a patch every few weeks if we expect to make more than minor improvements so all the things I talked about will be in the next big patch which is about 2 weeks away.

I actually like the new control. Also, for those complaining that you can’t type a number in instead…you can.
