pistol whip has a 130 range. Their steal has a 45 second cooldown. There quickness buff the same. Quickness is the only thing that makes pistol whip strong, because the stun does not last long enough on a non quickness pistol whip to get the full damage. If you mist form 1 pistol whip as he costs it, the thief has lost. He has burned 3 cooldowns to try to do the damage he can with it, and now he doesn’t have it for another 45 seconds. He’s forced to shortbow away or die. Like Khronus said, everyone is fine. This is literally a learn to play situation. The ONLY spec that needs some damage tweaks for thief is backstab. The pvp in this game was designed to be fast paced yes, but 2 shotting someone before they can react to push their defensive key is broken. Other than that, everything is a l2p issue and you should l2p.

I went against a 5 mesmer team on legacy of the foefire. My team laughed at the beginning and continued to laugh at them as we won the game 500-25. OP classes OP yo.

I also feel sorry for the sorry blokes that lost to that team on forest.

The reason that spvp hot join is 8v8 and tourney is 5v5 is because they plan on making this game an esport game, and they find it easier to balance for 5v5 than 8v8. The reason they only have one game mode is because they want this game to be an esport, and its easier to balance for 1 game mode. Their goal after releasing everything needed to make this an esport like a ranking / elo system, a spectator mode and other goodies will be balance. They want this game to be an esport game, and all efforts put into pvp will be for that sole reason alone. A low floor, high ceiling skill cap that anyone can get into and earn a ranking. Basically the LoL model, and they took forever to get another game mode in and even then dominion is barely played compared to classic.

1.) Skilled players will beat any non skilled player with whatever class they choose to play.

2.) Skilled players will beat any other skilled players with whatever class they choose to play.

3.) Non skilled players will make a list of op classes and all the other non skilled players hop on the band wagon.

to those of you asking about mesmer burst and saying it doesn’t exist. I recommend you check out www.twitch.tv/jhaxe. His shatter build will leave you speechless with the amount of burst it puts out along with the amount of survivability and utility he has.

I recommend people head over to twitch.tv and check out a mesmer by the name of xee. Tell me he doesn’t have insane burst and high survivability. Again, this thread isn’t about what people pugging hot join games feel about classes, it’s about tournament play and which classes have the highest potential ceiling caps when played correctly in the roles they are designed for. And that happens to be the thief, mesmer and guardian.

Hrmm that’s funny because I talk quite a bit with tp and they think rangers are fine, and everyone is in agreeance that warriors in tpvp are the lowest of the low. They don’t run a ranger because none of them play one and they don’t have room for it in their team comp…

Opinions are like kitten. Everyone has them and they usually stink. I can tell you from an 80 warrior and ranger, Longbow on warrior is garbage. It only has 900 range unless traited for and just because the auto attack sits 2 arrows doesn’t mean they drop more damage. There is no single target dps option for it and it’s aoe is mediocre at best. Should do some research before you whine about something you have zero clue about.

That kinda shafts people who WANT to focus on their pet. We have all the choices we need to make pets work, and to be able to work without focusing on our pets. People just have to learn to use them. Avoid combat, heel, proper timing of abilities, traiting, etc.

It wouldn’t shaft people who want to focus their damage into their pet, they would have to trait for it. The same advice you gave him. A pets base damage unless traited for should be lowered and that damage transferred to the ranger himself. That way the ranger should have the option of focusing his damage into his pet or himself. Right now regardless of how you trait your pet is a large portion of your damage.

Dagger Storm elite, while powerful, is not all that awesome as you talk it up to be. During the ~8 seconds of spinning, you move slower, are easily CC’ed (yes, they gain stability, but conditions still work). And they block projectiles, not invulnerable to damage. Melee and AOE still hit them.

Thats just it, if you’re standing in melee range, you get wrecked. If you choose to try to kite them they can’t be damaged and have stability. They can be snared sure, but given average reaction time you will burst someone more than enough with Dagger storm to force defensive cooldowns and heals all while being immune to projectiles. And AoE’s in this game hit like wet noodles and should not be a valid arguement against an obviously AMAZING elite skill. I suggest playing other classes and seeing their crappy elites and then realizing how amazing your elites are and actually feel like elites, not just another skill to use.

HS definitely needs an increase in initiative cost. Right now thieves have the best elites (hi 8k damage while invuln to damage and unable to be cc’d, or thieves guild that can take someone from full to half health practically instantly) the best mobility and survivability due to said mobility. Anet didn’t want a perma stealth, but the way it is now stealth also lasts too long for the small initiative costs (due to gaining initiative back when stealthed) CnD definitely does not need a reduction. It needs an increase. Thieves have the highest damage potential with scaling damage attacks, great cc, great gap closers, the best get aways, IMO the best elite skills. As I see it thieves need a rebalancing so that a good thief is a good thief, not just someone who can spam 2 skills and be successful. There is a reason why just about every tourney team has a thief or 2 on it, they offer more than other classes. Thieves should have to choose with their initiative costs either high burst or high survivability. Not be able to have both.

In my opinion, warriors need a nerf.

A well played warrior will break you, and a well played mesmer thief or guardian will break a frenzied warrior. This game is fairly balanced. Every class has counter builds to every other classes builds. There isn’t an end all be all build for every class, and people claiming that GS is the only viable build for warriors are bads. GS is just the best for pub stomping bads.
