State of sPvP (meta & pip whining)

TL;DR I am unhappy with the pip ranking system and the current meta.

Lately i find myself logging on to do my 3 ranked matches a day and then logging off. Mostly to keep the meta going. I am not having fun in sPvP anymore. Since the expansion I haven’t really either. It feels like work. Not to mention my main class (Thief) is no where to be found. Yes it can do some things but it gets out classed in everything besides back capping points. But this isn’t my main kitten today.

No my main kitten today is the current meta and the whole PIP system. The meta is what players find to be the best possible builds that have the most success. So it’s not the players fault for using the strongest builds to adapt to the current meta. It’s Anets fault for still not jumping in and changing things. (My ideas on what to change is a whole different kitten) I understand that they cannot just change things quickly, but look at meta battle. Since week 2 of expansion the meta builds haven’t changed besides dropping Dragon-hunter down and Scrapper as well. so there are 4 classes each with 1 build that’s “meta”. And its true, that’s all i see in matches. Again I cant blame players for using it. It’s just created this whole bunker fight that can last 5 minutes on a point.

As for pips. I like the idea of gaining ranks because after you hit rank 80 what else do you do? I think they should hide what division you are in when you’re in the open world or wvw because its stupid. My biggest complaint is the system of gaining and losing. I’ve won a match and lost a pip, and ive lost a match and gained 2. They need to redo the system so that it’s more player friendly. Yes in higher ranks maybe change it, but up to Ruby/Diamond it should reward you a little bit easier. (Currently I am in Tier 2 of Ruby) It just doesn’t seem consistent. With the afks and then disconnects that punish your team very hard sometimes. It needs a good reworking.

Don’t worry everyone. In 1 month we will get a balance patch and pray they do something.

I agree that we should regen endurance faster than base. Should take 6.66 seconds to fill an endurance bar rather than 10 seconds. Because right now its 1 extra dodge and then another after we steal. Okay, so 2 dodges. Its nice but its not good considering you guys are trying to make us a a sustain class.

A lot of us feel that you nerfed Acrobatics to the ground to pave the way for Daredevil. Before the trait change S/D 2/0/0/6/6 was really good. Now Acro is a joke and no one uses it. Bring back might on dodge, increase assassins reward base healing.

For the D.D. trait line. Escapists Absolution (Condi remove on evade) Should be baseline. Its the only condi cleanse we have. This would allow us to take Staff Master. Also, buff the endurance gained on staff master.

Overall the damage is fine. But it is still clunky. Very very clunky.

First off, this has a ton of potential guys. Really. It’s a great concept with A LOT of cool features. Just needs some fine tuning.

Keep in mind I 1v1 a lot. I also Spvp and WvW but mainly focused on 1v1 potentials.

Staff skills need some more damage on the other skills besides Vault. Vault does do good damage but is VERY hard to land on someone in a 1v1 because of the animation. Its a huge wind up essentially. So people move. Yes on most you will land it half the time, but players watch for it. And just side step.

Staff 1 is okay, no complaints here.
Staff 2 needs more damage and needs to STOP movement when you are at your target.
Staff 3 I think should only move you IF youre holding a directional key. Other wise you should roll in place. Just because this takes you OUT of the fight. yes you can vault back in but people will move then youre just wasting iniative to try to get back into it.
Staff 4 is okay. The blind is a cool idea.
Staff 5 Ive already covered. Maybe give it a bonus. 10-15% Damage to targets with weakeness. idk.

Ulitilies are okay. I really like bandit’s defence. I think its perfect how it is. Its really kittenin cool.

The Elite is cool too. Ive noticed some weird bugs with it at times but im sure it’s being worked on or was a lag issue.

But like everyone else the Grand Master dodges are weird. DASH is the only one you can count on.

And like said many times overall clunkiness.

As i play Ill probably edit or something with more things I’ve found. But unlike a lot of people I understand. THIS IS A BETA. This is a test. This is not final. This is our first chance playing it so im sure Anet will balance it and polish it. No doubt. Good company.

To start I am aware that I am fairly alone on this thought. Most of my friends love all the changes and don’t have much to complain about. I however do, so if you love how the game in PvP is right now, this post is not for you.

After this very large damage buff to every class I believe this game has lost its skillful touch that you needed to win. Every class seems to be able to burst the other very quickly and all PvP is now is who can burst the other team the fastest.

before the patch yes there was not a lot of viable builds out there for Ranked Arena. I get that, and I like the new trait system. I really do. I Dislike the current meta. You cannot go bunker anymore. It doesn’t work. I’ve tried bunker Gaurd, warrior, and annoying bunker turret engie and you just cannot withstand the damage output anymore. No one can. Even roaming in WvW as a Thief I can kill anything in the duration of the basalisk. It’s kind of a joke.

I am aware that a lot of people love the new changes, but for me this game has lost its touch. Before a fight would go on for awhile, and you would have to have a good knowledge of mechanics to kill someone. Especially how to safely stomp someone. Right now the damage is so high and survivability is so low most classes cannot stomp/revive people in the middle of a fight. I see more people just burning people down after they go down rather than try to stomp.

I have been losing an ungodly amount of my matches and they are NEVER close. It’s always a complete stomp by one team. I just really believe there’s too much damage being done to really have a chance for a come back. When The Lord is now getting rushed in the beginning of the match and the door and the lord are dead within a minute, there’s a problem.

My only suggestion is a PvP damage nerf. I am aware most of you love your PvE and love that a lot of it got easier. Personally, I don’t pve much. And I have no problem with it becoming a little easier with DPS.

Tl;DR After the patch the DPS of every class is too high.

in WvW i main Thief and run either D/P or D/D. Rank 400+ since I never zerg just roam solo usually.

For Spvp(tpvp whatever) Im usually on my Engie or sometimes thief as well. Rank 53.

Jade Weapon ticket drop rate too high

This is the first day I’ve been able to get on for this event and my friends were talking about the new weapon skins so I decided to grab a few boxes to get some. I got 1 rich coffer and got a ticket. I saw the skins when I was redeeming my ticket and decided to try again(I needed a dagger to go with my sword, after all.) 1 box, 1 ticket. I thought to myself, might as well try again. 1 box 1 ticket. I think the drop rate of these tickets is unnecessarily high and should probably be reduced. It seems out of control that they’re dropping this much.
