Aero’s da best!
#goodguyaero
I met this guy over a year ago when he represented thieves in the all-profession tournament. He’s been playing thief non-stop and I know he’s had more experience on both S/D and D/P than most thieves have had in any one of those specs.
I enjoyed playing with him the few times our paths crossed on the same team.
Hope you find a good team, Kinjax
Fret not Lux! You, Kinjax, and I are making that team with Apollo, remember?
Jokes aside, Kinjax is an all around awesome thief, something NA has a serious dearth of at the moment. Solid pick up!
This thread is adorable.
parasitic contagion is actually okish for soloQ
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=;0_-34;0kHFC0x3RIkJ0;9;4T;0JJ49C;428-19-Vw07U;1jzyvjzyv2o
this build does ok in most soloQ games.
That being said the trait ahs it’s issues, namely that it doesnt help you sustain through condi remove which would b eteh thing you actually need from a sustain trait. If it would work a bit like altruistic healign and just heal youz a flat amount on condi application it would be way betetr and actually give necro a good sustain build.
This is actually a really good idea! I can see the rationale for placing Parasitic Contagion in the condition duration trait line—the longer your DoTs stick, the more sustained healing you theoretically receive. However, given how easily conditions can be cleansed, it may benefit to make this trait function like AH to encourage use of skills and traits that pulse (wells, Corrosive Poison Cloud, Locust Swarm, etc.). Alternatively, skills like Epidemic and Signet of Spite could function in a manner similar to a guardian’s Empower, providing something resembling “burst” healing.
There’s still time for me to be saved from ranger (please save me?).
I figure most people are voting for ranger because 1) there’s a dearth of people streaming high level ranger gameplay, or 2) they want you to be miserable. To help you avoid the latter, I voted for thief—from two different IPs.
How long is ready up and how much time is dedicated to each segment?
Will player feedback from the ready up be taken into account for the proposed changes?Regarding length: we’re aiming to keep Ready Up a lot shorter than we have previously – the two hour episodes are killer.
As for feedback, the our new way of splitting up the balance segments will make it easier for us to track feedback, as we’ll only be talking about two professions every two weeks, rather than 8 in one week.
Sounds like a good approach! It seems that you, Karl, J. Sharp, and Roy have been a bit pressed for time trying to cover all eight professions in past Ready Up installments, so perhaps the narrowed focus will allow for more in-depth discussion and Q&A.
Glad to hear rangers are one of the first on deck, I’ve recently grown interested in playing the profession!
Frenzy HB old new meta!
Good guy Ken offering to do a nice thing.
I’ll gladly contribute! Post the link here when it’s live.
Cool dude and one of the best rangers out there. If you don’t already know Ovi, you should.
Guild Puzzle had 5 guilds running through at the same time in a massive zerg. The level of cooperation between guilds decrease as the number of guilds involved increase. I’ve never felt zerg lag in a guild puzzle prior to this.
While I did not experience the same degree of lag, I can definitely speak to the decreased level of cooperation. What we observed was diminishing returns, as numerous people from guilds running the same puzzle were left behind and too few communicated enough to ameliorate the problem. My worst megaserver experience so far, for sure.
Just slot in a mesmer with Moa. Problem solved!
This! Though some people and I found a few alternatives…
Forget builds, looking good is so much more important q_q and it’s so hard
It’s difficult (and perhaps of limited value) to discuss potential builds with such limited knowledge of the reworked runes and sigils, but given what has been revealed to us, I’m led to believe some seemingly “nerfed” specs may continue to exist in some form. The previewed Balthazar runes plus 30 in Spite gives us 5-second burning on Dhuumfire procs, which at least seems decent on paper. I don’t believe we’ll get a combination as good as 4 Nightmare/2 Lyssa runes for +20% total condition duration, but if Necromancer runes retain the +20% fear duration feature, we can use them in a 30/20/0/0/20 shell to execute fear chains of pre-Feature Pack duration.
These are just two specs I’ll be testing on patch day, but I imagine there will be quite a few more to consider. Overall, I’m optimistic about the build diversity these rune changes could bring to our profession.
EDIT: I briefly mentioned Perplexity runes, but just got the memo (over a week late!) that they actually won’t be coming to PvP quite yet. To quote Jonathan Sharp in the Perplexity rune thread in the sPvP subforum:
I just wanted to give you guys a quick update. Based on your feedback, we’ve decided not to add Runes of Perplexity to PvP in the 4/15 Feature Pack. We’ll be monitoring the balance of runes closely, making more tweaks if necessary, and revisiting the possibility of adding Runes of Perplexity to PvP at a later point.

Thinking ahead, I really do think the number of entrants is a “good problem” to have, but obviously it calls for some sort of contingency plan. Perhaps qualifier points can be (re)introduced sometime in the future for this purpose? Similarly, taking cues from sanctioned Magic: the Gathering Grand Prix events, maybe teams can earn byes for large tournaments based on their placement in weekly ESL/Mist League events? I know these suggestions may not solve the current predicament, but they may provide incentive for teams to compete in the months between tournaments of this scale.
Yeah we should do that. ‘/rank #’
Make it happen please!!
I’ve been dyign to do Rabbit finisher with plastic spider tonic!!!
I’m still having flashbacks from your tonic/shark finisher combo. Hide the women and children!

Hey all, in case anyone else raised this question, I was informed by Tyler Chapman (a.k.a. Powerr) yesterday that the Plague Signet passive does not proc the 5% life force gain from Unholy Martyr. Just thought I would share this. Looking forward to the new traits, let’s brew some builds.
Why should it does that in the first place? I mean signets only work outside of ds and unholy martyr is ds exclusive.
D’oh! You’re correct. Silly thing is that I realized this soon after I asked the question, too. Pay me no mind!
Though after reading the text of the trait again i can somewhat understand why you would missunderstand it. I think the text should be more clear.
Yeah, my thinking was that the “Each time you draw a condition…” clause was separate from the first part of the trait, and that the “draw a condition” mechanic used the same axis as Plague Signet despite the difference in wording (“transfers conditions…”).

Well I’m glad you asked Powerr about it because it seems like an obvious synergy to me, hopefully it will be passed along to devs and reconsidered. It would make the trait more useful, triggering both while in DS and outside of it and give Plague Signet a bit of a buff. It is so odd having a trait that replicates the passive of Plague Signet, all because signet passives don’t work in DS. Now if one of the new grandmastes was ‘your signet passives work in DS’ that would be a nice trait.
Based on Kraag Deadsoul’s calculations earlier in this thread, the sustain gained from hypothetical synergy between Unholy Martyr and Plague Signet might be a bit too strong (and perhaps a bit too passive as well if the life force gain ignored death shroud entirely). Maybe the synergy would make more sense if the numbers were tweaked? Either way, Powerr has moved on from ANet, but I can try getting in touch with Roy Cronacher about at least having the trait description language updated.

EDIT: I forgot that Unholy Martyr only triggers while in death shroud. Signet passive bonuses don’t register in death shroud. Nothing to see here, folks!

gw1 RA.
Surprisingly there are more people there and the rewards are pretty fantastic XD
Ughhh, so jelly. To this day, I regret giving my account to a friend. RA was too addictive.
Would you be willing to participate (y/n)? Yes.
If yes, how much would you be willing to pay to enter (5/10)? Either amount works.
Do you have a team (y/n)? Either amount works.
If no, would such an event create incentive for you to find a team to compete with (y/n)? Maybe, if only for the sake of the tournament.
What region do you play on (NA/EU)? NA.
Kudos for taking the initiative to organize this.
Seen him around, plays well in solo q. Give him a shot!
Seconded! I’ve seen this guy in solo queue a few times and he definitely brings it.
LUX! I missed you! <3
I had a blast the last few times we PUG’d team queues. Super cool dude. Get in on this, guys!
Really excited that PvP is getting its own weekly feature. Hopefully this builds some buzz and gives the community something to be positive about. Stoked for previews and tournament coverage!
Asurans always testing out their new super jump skills. Will they ever realize that there are limits to these things?
Has science gone too far?
Goood Luck, both Jin and Aero are solid players, potential for a very good team here
Seconded! I don’t know Aeroxe too well, but I can vouch for Jin. Good dude, support!
Great to see efforts being made to keep this channel alive. Perhaps more shoutcasting can also be arranged? Blu did a fantastic job last night.
Unfortunately that’s going to be tough. We don’t have any community organization such as entry-level PvP groups at the moment. I’m not sure what to suggest except to try to build your friends list as you solo queue.
I’ll echo what NevirSayDie says here. The tPvP community can be insular at times, but if you’re outgoing and make an effort to meet new people, I’m sure you’ll be able to form a team. I met some of my most valuable friends and contacts while solo queueing. Hop in TeamSpeak and get to know who you’re playing with; sooner or later you’ll find people you mesh with.
Tribe is a good dude. Support!
I remember queueing with Marvin months ago, nice guy.
Sick player and awesome dude, has a great understanding of the game. Someone get this man a team!
Bump! Shinju is awesome.
My necromancer is named Venus. I thought making the Greco-Roman goddess of beauty into a necromancer was an interesting inversion—maybe she’s a temptress of sorts?
I also snagged ‘Bathory’ at launch, perhaps that might have been more appropriate? “Welcome darling, to my sacrifice!”
Glad Panda’s photo made 3rd. And congratulations to “Cutest Asura NA” Softnfluffy for taking 1st!
Bump! I’m ineligible for this team, but I’d like to watch the necromancer matches if I have time. Go us!
<Player looking for a team>
Ingame name: Venus (Venus In Furs.9756)
Main Class / Potential Classes (Incase team requires): I have played Necromancer exclusively since launch, but will gladly learn a second profession if required.
Region: United States (EST)
Practice Times: I’m a student currently in the throes of finals, so this will vary. I’ll also be taking summer courses in the coming months, but my schedule should be freer then.
Experience: As of my typing this, I am #254 on the leaderboard, though I peaked at 116 on April 17th. I have 230 wins and 149 losses that are split between pre-made and solo queued matches. I am rank 38.
Other (Anything else that you would like to add): I’m really looking for a core team – hopefully comprised of other individuals currently on the leaderboard – that not only stresses team communication, but is also willing to sit down and theorycraft/develop a team comp. I’m not simply looking for people to queue with randomly; I want a team that wants as much as I do to approach this game with a winning mindset. (And a good, healthy attitude, of course!)
I understand that Necromancers are undervalued at the moment. While I would certainly like to fit the profession into a comp, I also want to do what’s best for my team and will play another profession if asked. I have access to Teamspeak 3 and Ventrilo and own a mic.
