is kitten map chat always toxic now?

You posted the Teq def example here. Of course things like that should be organized beforehand, but I’ve seen alot of people who leave too early from defense or stay behind even if the timer falls below 10s with good health points on all batteries. Someone always is so nice to write “back”, “back at 20s” or maybe even “east needs more ppl” in the middle of the fight – you never know if everything goes smoothly or people are troubled elsewhere. Same happens sometimes with Vinewrath, commanders and other players do give advices during the battle if they notice a line struggles with something (explaining toxic on mid line, refilling ammo at top,…).

But people who stare at their dps won’t read those quick instructions, so they can’t help out where they are needed :/

Legendary Howler Bug [merged]

I don’t write much on the forums and I’m just returning to the game right now.
Guild Wars 2 changed so much over the last 3 months o_o I’m still pretty confused about all the new UI sections!

This was one of the bugs that was heavily debated on General Discussion before, right? I wonder why it got moved here. As I said, I didn’t play the game for quite a while now, so it’s even more strange to see that the weapon is still such a mess. Howler is part of the endcontent, several players worked for this weapon for months. The mood in this topic has become pretty bad as well, thus I can’t really believe that none developer finds the time to make a short statement about the current status of the weapon.

My former guild leader for example was your 08/15 casual player. Only online 2-3 hours an evening, a bit longer on weekends. He plays the game since launch and it took him over 2 years to gather everything that was required for Howler. Okay, maybe he put the craft on hold at some times, I bet he could have gotten the warhorn earlier if he really yearned for that, but it doesn’t change the fact that he and a lot of other players put so much effort into the weapon. You might be able to imagine his reaction when he saw the final product and it’s missing night effect for the first time He didn’t even play his warrior for two or three weeks after that. I don’t know if he changed his mind in these last months, but about 6 months ago he said “This is my first and last legendary.”

I just hope this gets adressed in the future. Putting all you’ve got into something that makes you sad as soon as you see it finished can be very painful

EU vs US community

I haven’t read even half of the thread since I’m tired, so sorry in advance if someone already wrote this.

The main issue why european players “seem” to be more unfriendly is – at least from my experiences – the Megaservers. I remember when I started playing almost 3 years ago on my main account, I joined a server where my native language was spoken. Whenever my guildmates and me were standing in main cities, infront of dungeons or around farming spots, ppl constantly wrote about all different things, game related or not. During LS1 it became really hard to follow everything, because lots of people spamed the map chat, for example on the Karka event, Tequatl overhaul or God Reach festival and so on. But we had lots of fun, my server had a “rare winner, but looser who never give up” mentality and we were a colorful, chaotic bunch that just enjoyed to spend time with players we shared our victories and failures with. I could name at least 8 players I saw during LS1 over and over again. Great times!

Most of our servers “identity” died however when Megaservers were introduced. You werent on the same map with the players you did play before, in the open world, I barely even met the ones who were on my friendlist. I saw numerous of times when players started to write something in their language, they got lots of hate and almost always the sentence “english please” or simply “ENGLISH!!1!”. But not everyone is is able to speak english. There are racist jokes about french people, germans, italiens and others. Looking at this, I can relate to those who simply gave up to write something in the map chat, something that – again – was not the case before the megaservers.

I know it might be hard to understand outside of europe, but the EU is not the same as Europeans. Our behaviour, culture and language are very different from each other. It’s wrong to just push us all in one pot. Try this with chinese, japanese or koreans. They wouldn’t like this neither (thats why Anet got quite some grudge with Factions from asian countries, they also mixed cultures and religions which felt kinda rude).

tl;dr:
Megaservers are a main factor for EU players to not be “all friendly” with each other. If you start to write something in your language, you get laughed at and people urge you to write english. If you are not good with english, you can’t talk with each other.

teq defense -- why do people ignore it?

I’m talking about during the actual battle. “KITTENING TURRETS KITTENING PRESS 2.”

Oh yes, this is so annoying. Zerg zombies don’t get that the turrets
- may get destroyed if defense isn’t good enough
- turret users get dragged out of their turret for the reason above
- turrets even get glitchy and you can’t use any skill for some time

Many start to panic when there are only 6-8 scales. It’s the same when I command the Top Line for Vinewrath and our ammo gets empty shortly after the second champion is defeated. Other lines start screaming “wtf shouldn’t top be fighting now” or they write “fail map” even though we didn’t even enter yet. I always write “calm your ti- er kittens”, but it seems like every “new” map has those “nervous” players who need everyting done asap. Doing a job with a little bit more responsibility is almost never thanked in any MMO (same thing when you are a healer in WoW), since if something goes wrong, YOU are to blame

That being said, I didn’t really have problems to organize the defense groups for Tequatl so far. Finding 6 turret users is more challenging sometimes, but if you enter the map at least 10 minutes before the event starts, you usually find enough volunteers who can do more than faceroll all day long.

Hi there :)

first thing: This is no critism against ArenaNet. You guys are fine <3

Really, it’s not such a big deal, but lately, I get pretty annoyed with those “Tequatl Yolo/Swag/UBER/whatever Guilds”.

Srsly, we all know that since the last patch, Tequatl is now -again- pretty killable, even for random/pug groups. It takes the same organisation and almost the same time as it did before the condi patch. Many ppl write gl before and gj after the fight. Nothing wrong here.

So, I wonder why those guilds, who enter pug maps, still need to brag about “how we managed to defeat him ONLY because the these guilds” and people actually thank them for being there, even when 3/4 commanders aren’t even in those guilds.

I’m perfectly fine with ppl writing “thx everyone” or something like that when the fight is done since ->everyone<- did their job. But celebrating guilds for something, sorry, as avarage as that is just silly. I don’t want to attack anyone, if I did so I’m sorry (I usually don’t do that), but I’d like to remind everyone that the fight is done with many, many players who aren’t even part of such great and allmighty guilds.

Rant over :p Delete this post or ignore me, I know I’m overreacting^^

Awful Female Human Heavy Armor Art Design

Hm… I think my warrior has quite sexualized armor right now. Ok, it’s a shop armor-skin, but you don’t need to farm an eternity to get the gems.

Human femals can wear this skin too. But if this is still too Ironman for you, you might want to play a norn warrior/guardian instead for 2 more feminine armors:

(look at the two below, the first armor is not sexy :D)

He didn’t understand the lvl 10 quest? I don’t know if this is funny or sad, sorry^^’
Reading the quest text or talking with the heart-above-head npc miiiiiight be too complicated for the average lets player. But I guess reading is boring in lets plays.

Only once I had a problem with a Heart that didn’t get full no matter what I did, only after a long time I succeeded. The one in the right/top corner in Diessa, where the portal to Rhand opens. Making it compeltely event-dependable was not a good idea

About the story I can only agree with you, Sid. It was much better to do one story mission every 2-3 levels instead of rushing through 5-6 each 10 levels. Being forced to level in the open world without any hint of an upcoming story not only drags on, but can become boring very fast, especially since new players only see the hearts and no vistas or skill point challenges. That’s content they know nothing about when they play the game for the first time. The personal story was THE main reason I felt motivated to reach level 80. I drop many MMOs before even reaching max, so having a story that leads you almost perfectly to the endgame was a huge point for me. It’s sad they partially hide their story from new players nowadays..

I don’t even remember what that personal story quest was about xD
I prefer the second one though. Tybalt, a hood with visible hair + character dyed in order of whispers look = good old times!

Hmm yes, I would appreciate this idea. I have yet to convince my brother to give Guild Wars 2 a try. He is a long time WoW player who tries out different MMOs at the moment, but as I can tell, he seems to be pretty bored from everything he played so far :p

Maybe a free trial weekend with max. lvl 30 from time to time sounds reasonable?

Can some1 explain Hero Points?

@Donari
Thanks for the detailed explanation. Yeah, I’m switching a bit confused right now between the different lines to find the traits I used before my break from the game. I just wished I would have done screenshots back then^^’

Since many things got switched, have different names or are merged with additional bonuses, your idea with a Word document is pretty helpful. I definitively have to make one tomorrow (its 11pm here) and write every line + traits together to get an overview of all the possibilities and combinations.

Good to know how to get Hero Points in the future too :D

Vileste.7148

Hello everyone,

soo…. I’ve returned to GW2 today after a few months break and got pretty confused with the new build and hero points system. I have 8 lvl 80s, with every trait unlocked and gathered around 300+/- skill points in total. When I logged in today someone already explained me the stat changes and why we don’t get any stat bonus for trait lines anymore, but there’s something else I still don’t understand.

The trait lines aka specialisations are…. locked again? I would need to spend hero points (what’s this, where do I get them?) to unlock the traits it seems. Someone wrote sth about 65 needed points to unlock a compelte class. Does that mean I can’t play all my lvl 80 characters with almost the same builds I used before; at least until I unlock the traits… again? And if this is the case, are there good ways to farm Hero Points? I was very dissapointed when I logged in with my mesmer today and my mantra build was completely shattered (pun unintended), I can’t use any mantra traits right now before I buy them.

Did I understand it wrong or is it really like that? ._. Unlocking traits with every character sounds not very promising…

Are portals still dropping?

Not being able to get a decent name

I just tried the Sylvari male name generator on that site. The first name it gave me is… Barry…

Hm… okay thats funny.

I didn’t make that generator, so the only advice I can give is to click over and over again if there are no good names in the first list.

But Barry…. hrmpf. Funny indeed. Nothing against Barrys here.

For anyone who looks for racial directions (sounds weird lol), here my character names:
- Träumerin/Dreamer Scaera (Sylvari, think about nature/spiritual backgrounds)
- Doctor Ragy (Asura, try something academic)
- Tyr Ravensong (Norn, look up nordic names or gods + animals)
- Legatus Diabolo (Charr, roman titles always work good with them)
- Zinnia Heartthief (Human, pretty much everything you like)

But try to avoid names from other languages (e.g. french). My main character on the other account has a french sounding name (Vilenne) and I’m constantly thrown to french megaservers, perhaps because of that. Every other character lands on german/english mixed servers.

I feel kind of bad now since we had an AC story group today as well and went through it pretty fast. We had two lvl 35 players in that group and I think one of them watched the cutscenes. Luckily, he did enough dmg on all the bosses to still get the chests (at least he ran to their directions, so I guess he got them all).

FYI: I’m one of the ppl who opens groups like “story all welcome” or “p1 all welcome”. That means for me the group does not have to be all 80 or all experienced players, it only means that I wont sell the dungeon since I read more and more often that ppl even started to sell story dungeons (which is very bad I think)

I’m sorry if players like me might have ruined your first dungeon experience. When I started doing dungeons myself I asked my companions if they could explain bosses and give me some advices. Most players don’t mind writing a few sentences more than usual, only a few are smug and might ignore you. If you want to repeat the dungeon the way it should be done, you can always add me ingame and I can show you the basics of each story dungeon. Hope your next party will be better, good luck!

I got many impressions from that site. All you (maybe) have to do is change single letters or add a surname or title if the generated name you want is already taken.

The green Downed colour in party UI is very unintuitive. Why, oh why change something that wasn’t broken? Maybe green is the “danger”, “death” color in Tyria, but for normal people, bloody red is the one color that screams “danger!”.

THIS. Why was that changed anyway? Who would complain about THAT? This was perfect before…. now its DARK GREEN applause oh noo i’m so afraid!!1!11!

Because now we as consumers know, that our voices and opinions aren’t going to be heard at all
….
When the next time something bad like this hits the game, will we once again have to wait a year for it to at least be acknowledged by the developers as a mistake?

I’ve wondered about that ~six pages ago and we still got no official statement. Not even a “We have recoginzed all your complaints but won’t change anything since we don’t care at all”. I bet they don’t even read what we write here anymore and just let us continue with our criticism until the end of Guild Wars 2. If you are right that it takes them about a year for seeing what bull-tihS they served us, we “might” get a statement in about… seven months? Yey!!

…my company management recently fired a co-worker of mine for being to rude and ignorant infront of our customers. I might encourage her to apply to ArenaNet, seems like she would fit well in there.

It’s Anet’s new idea of dealing with player concerns: just pretend that they don’t exist. Then all of then will just magically go away!

Though what they tend to forget is that many of the players will go away too. SWTOR learned that the hard way.

Yeah it definitivley feels that way. Even if the critism is reasonable, they won’t lift a finger until they see any RL Ca$h for it. That’s the reason why they “fixed” their previous gem <-> dollar/euro trade system. I wish the kittenstorm here would be just half as as big as the one from that time.

@TOPIC
I just noticed some other opportunities were “new” players arekitten*3d: Your character is struck and you don’t even have skill 2 and 3 at hand (you only get 3 with lvl 19 or sth). How do you expect players to get up on their feet again? You could just kill players under lvl 20 instantly, wouldn’t make that big of a difference.

Gods, this so DUMB. The more I look on this crap System the more I see the work of a lobotomized monkey….

Sorry for the rage here, but that ignorance from ArenaNet kittenes me off.

So, since there hasn’t been any response from ArenaNet in a long time I have a question:

Does the ArenaNet staff even care about our opinions here?

I barely post anything on the english board since I’m not very good with that language (and at some point, I gave up on complaining and making suggestions). With the 75% sale I thought “Hey, what was the most enjoyable thing I’ve done since the release of GW2 in summer 2012?” Guess it was to level 8 characters up the max level. I’m one of the ppl who likes to walk the way more than to reach the goal itself.

So when the game price was drastically reduced I decided to create new characters on a new account and play all classes completely different than I did before. Well… shortly after that I was forced to “enjoy” the NPE….

What. Crap. Is. This? Do you hate new players? Do you think new players are dumb or even kittened? You’ve already made this game so freaking easy, even a 65 year old grandma could play it pre NPE. Now I can’t choose what I want to do at what time or place.

@The 10lvl Story scraps: Pre NPE I managed to do quests 8 level above my character. How do you expect NEW players to understand that there is ANY story at all, if they don’t even see it in the beginning of the game? There are enough players who don’t want to pointless level up his character if they don’t even see a reason behind his existance or any connection to the world.

My dad entered my room recently and watched me doing heart quests, he said “That game looks quite good, but why are you doing this?” I answered “I must do 4 more levels until I can play the story again”, then he: “Oh ok. Don’t you forget half of what happened when you can’t play it in one go? Sounds boring.” Both of us play most times RPGs and I’m yet to convince him to try a MMORPG.

What Guild Wars 2 is simply doing right now, is discouraging potential new players and “veteran” players alike to even start the launcher. And the fact that NOONE of the official employees even cares to answer to this thread anymore or to suggest to the others to return the previously great leveling experience to the way it was before. This game is almost dead to my old account. I don’t see any reason to log in since I’ve tried everything that is doable with lvl 80, but that aren’t many things compared to other MMOs.

Why is there no reaction at all? Why don’t you care about how the people feel who stayed with you for over two years? Thats just heartless and makes me really sad!
