Hello!
I am currently playing a scepter and torch mesmer. You can find my build here.
I’m using blinds as a source of confusion with the Blinding Befuddlement trait, as well as glamour spells with the Confusing Enchantments trait. What I was curious about is if the trait Dazzling Glamours works in combination with Confusing Enchantments. As in when you cast a glamour spell on an enemy, would they get confusion from both of the traits?
If not, then which trait should I get rid of, and which should replace it?
I hopped back in the other day to play some spvp on my asuran alchemist. I noticed that I was having a bit of difficulty, I was not doing as well as I usually would. Perhaps I’m just a bit rusty, but maybe what I’ve got setup is no longer any good. I’m not concerned about being min-max’d, but I’d like to at least stand a fair chance in battle.
This is my current setup. I’d welcome any suggestions for improvement. I’d rather not drop the elixir gun entirely, the entire character is somewhat centered around the idea.
But my character is still wearing level nine gear. I’m trying to quest but I am doing very little damage and dying very quickly. I only have two gold to my name. Is there some way I can get some gear quickly so I can continue on the main quest?
Thanks for any help, I’ve not played in almost a year.

But unleashing destruction, while healing and having protection from harm is a bit overpowered. Every spike build sacrifices survivability for the extreme damage they deal. That is the trade off, no profession should have a “I Win Button”
I modeled this elite after the non-elite “Save Yourselves!” except made it weaker since it does not absorb conditions. Also the boon durations can be cut down to 5 sec in pvp.
Also these effects are from Elixir B, H, and U. I use all three of them all the time in concession and hardly recall “unleashing destruction” on anyone when doing so.
Save Yourselves!
Draw conditions from nearby allies to yourself. Gain multiple boons for a short duration.
Fury: 10 s
Vigor: 10 s
Might: 10 s
Protection: 10 s
Regeneration: 10 s (1300 health)
Swiftness: 10 s
Retaliation: 10 s
Breaks stun
Range: 600

When I play characters I typically look for theme the most. Which is why I liked when in GW1 you could choose to play as a air elementalist, or water elementalist, etc. I never played Fire or Earth because I simply don’t like the theme of it.
I’ve read that in GW2 you pretty much need to swap out elements. That you can’t just play as an air or water elementalist. I’ve only played a little and I really prefer to just use air and water. Do you really need to swap to fire and earth when doing pve or spvp?
This is a suggestion for changing the Elixir X elite. In its current form, it is very rarely used by engineers from what I understand. I do not use it as I prefer to have access to my skills.
Elixir X
Drink Elixir X to gain multiple boons for a short duration.
Fury: 10s
Might: 10s
Protection: 10s
Regeneration: 10s
Quickness: 5s
Breaks Stun
Engineers combine multiple elixirs together, add a special secret ingredient, to create the powerful Elixir X! This elixir empowers the engineer, allowing them to unleash great destruction on their enemies, while healing and protecting them from harm.
Elixir E
Drink Elixir E to recover from stun, cure all conditions, and gain multiple boons.
Regeneration: 10s
Protection: 4s
Swiftness: 10s
Stability: 4s
I suggest this as a defensive/support alternative elite skill, for those that like elixirs but don’t want to shape-change. It uses effects from Elixir H, Elixir S, and Elixir R.
I’ve been thinking that a Toolkit build would be awesome. I can see how using Magnet to pull enemies into caltrops and an aoe turret could be fun.
My engineer has an elixir build, using only elixirs and the elixir gun. I really love using the elixir gun in pvp, it feels really well rounded. I can help support the team, while providing some condition damage. I typically run with Elixir H, B, and R. Though sometimes I like to use U, to machine gun spam Elixir Dart for burst DPS.
Anyone else like to use the elixir gun or any other kit as their primary weapon? From what I’ve read it seems like most people are using either pistols or a rifle instead.
