After finally breaking down and leveling a thief to 80, getting it geared, etc… I have to say thieves are balanced. There is a huge difference between people who know how to fight a thief and those who don’t.
And those who say OMG THIEF STEALTHS FOREVER AND DOES 15K damage! … you can’t spec to do massive damage and infinite stealth. Thieves that do 15K damage are shredded like tissue paper.
Let me put it this way. Those who whine about thief stealth simply doesn’t understand/know how a thief works. Once you do, they are much less of a threat.
I particularly have trouble against good shortbow/trap rangers, toolbelt engineers, well played staff mezmers, well played elementalists…
Its one of those classes that if you understand how to fight them, you beat them easily, but if you don’t you will die and rage.

I’ve been playing most of the night, and the map alone proves the CD/FA alliance never came to fruition.
Ah well, par for the course I guess.
It was one guild that offered the alliance. ONE GUILD.
That guy is just trying to be a fight promoter or something or making excuses for any victory that happens over TC at all.
Who knows. I’m not going to argue with him anymore because he is the type who will cherry pick an argument to death and make long winded posts simply because he enjoys arguing on internet forums.

What? The general consensus from the meeting of all the major guilds in CD was to attack FA and secure second.
This is so absurd… everyone is so paranoid. The people in CD thought FA and TC had a deal for a while.
This is starting to get to tabloid level.
Guess you didn’t read my whole post and jumped to replying directly based off the first line or your comprehension level needs improvement. I didn’t anywhere mention any GENERAL consensus or Server-wide alliance, I said some guilds from both servers who were on TCBL. L2 Read maybe?
You made it seem as if there was some grand conspiracy. A single guild making an alliance isn’t anything special.

Wow! This thread has spiced up for all right and wrong reasons!
First of all, I applaud people like Shinhwa and Shadow Gathering to come out openly and admit the temporary alliance/truce or a few commander-level coordination between 2 servers or a couple of guilds from both servers or whatever it is you call it. And yes, we asked for it. And it did make things a little interesting.
We did grow complacent over the past few weeks, and wanted to relive the SoR/BG days. We did get it last night (or early morning in NA today). The time when we have the lowest coverage. I’m not trying to justify why we lost our stuff, or to put the effort you guys put in saying that you won over a few of us! Both CD & FA who actually worked in TCBL (I’m talking exclusively about TCBL and not EB or some random JP so those who were not part of TCBL crew from both these servers, better not jump on this post as you obviously know nothing) knew how much effort it took them to take the stuff from us, and how much effort it took for us to try to defend what we have. And yes as a few of my fellow Coasties who were there at that time, well put it in terms of what mistakes we made, and where we could improve and where we’ve shined.
A few things that hurt us terribly are wrong upgrades being ordered on keeps at wrong times (not sure who did it or how this happened, most regulars know which order to upgrade, etc but well) and the other thing was lack of waypoint at Bay/Hills & Garrison. Only way for us to get back to the points of assaults was from our spawn.
But even waypoints would’ve helped us only so much as we actually did NOT have enough numbers at that point of time. Our NA crew is quite strong, there’s no denying it from our side or any server that fought us. Our weak area is our NA off hours. We still lack coverage at that time. And whatever forces we have then, stick to EB except a few. If we were equally a huge force during that timeslot, I’m pretty sure we would have tried to make a huge push while there was an assault on Bay. But we don’t have numbers at that time, exactly when the Asian guilds from CD are in full form. No it’s not an excuse, it’s a fact. We tried to hold onto whatever we have until our NA morning crew starts showing up. Once they were on, we actually took back everything, held off another assault by CD on bay. The wall went down, and yet we managed to keep them outside the gate. Not quite sure what happened next, since it was 3am over here and I had to sleep. I missed my workout today, but it was worth it for one day! Hope I can stay awake in the office :PAs to the wrong reasons mentioned by a few:
- TC never claimed it is almighty. If anyone did treat it such or look at it such, it’s the servers we fought.
- Yes TC is proud of the dedication of its players with regards to defenses, yak escorting, siege deployments, tactics and quick responsiveness. We never boasted about it, and MAINLY never looked down upon others. If some of us did, we were merely pointing out areas where you could improve. And yes, I posted yesterday as well that if an alliance works well for FA & CD, we could all learn from each other. That’s how most of us would look at it.
- Nobody from TC is crying about 2v1 here. It’s quite evident from each and every Toasties’ posts here since the reset where we literally asked them to team up. Yes, we ASKED them to. During TC/FA/YB matchups, we left YB at times due to reasons openly admitted here, their defenses on their BL. It was quite evident from other occasions where one of these servers would take down the walls from one side and the other would come from behind, clean up the former and claim the point for themselves. Clearly there was no alliance.
- If you’re not in TCBL, you wouldn’t know about whatever communication that happened between commanders from CD & FA. So there’s no point in commenting on what happened in EB, when the discussion here was regarding the brief alliance on TCBL. Was there a server-wide alliance all over? Nobody said that. Was there an alliance in TCBL? It was openly admitted. There’s no point in denying it by a few who weren’t even on TCBL and if you think its US crying over 2v1 after asking for it, well, hope you get well soon!

@Nyari Cil – just keep doing what you do best in EB. Win or lose, those in the BL always look to EB for inspiration.

Week 3 – “TC are cheaters and villains! We are still being 2v1! I have a LOT of badges!”
Week 4 – “CD Help us Destroy the menace of TC.”CD has bought hook line and sinker into this hatred FA has for us. The truth is, there are no smug faces. We are just playing a game and having fun. Most of us don’t give a darn if we move up or not.
I attended a fancy smacy server meeting for CD where a bunch of guild leaders yelled at each other about what they should be doing. The general consensus was that TC is unbeatable and that we should wipe out FA and take second… so I doubt this is true.
My guild however said screw that and did a bunch of damage to TC last night just for fun since we like being the underdogs. It wasn’t about any alliance.
Do you not read the future content in the wiki, before posting in suggestions?

Yeah, because future content is such an easily accessible and known about feature to most players.
To find the link you have to really hunt the front page and it is worded strangely.
All you did was make yourself out to be “that guy” who gets his jollies by making others feel bad. There was a much better way of handling your response.

This this and more of this. Please add this soon, this is an untapped source of revenue for Anet. Please implement it, there are a lot of us who wish to have it.
You handled character remodeling very well and I hope you do the same with this.
Staff = Siege/Zerg weapon(Aoe/extreme long range as specified earlier.)
Dagger= Magical Melee, close range, with extreme mobility. Most of the damage is dot based however.
Your trait build is a “spec,” which comes from the word, “specification.”
“Specialization”, it’s been specialization since MUDs of the early 90s.
