All the exp, karma, loot you get is insufficient?
Dude, I’m not asking for anything major. I’m asking for some reward to make people want to do it. Otherwise, what are we doing? Just resetting every week to do it again? So the server that wins all the time can say what? That they beat other servers who don’t have enough players willing to play WvW?
It’s a week long battle every rotation, if you raided in another game for 1 week only to get nothing except loot leading up to the boss would you continue to do it? You might, only if you thought there was some reward at the end. Alas!
Like….. stuff from loot bags.
the loot i get from bags goes directly to my repair bill and to the cause… I don’t make any money from WvW. If anything, I’m lucky to stay even.
Sure, bragging rights are nice, but why not provide a treasure chest with some random things in it for participation and winning the weekly matchup?
The technology is there for them to reward you…. either the GUI reward chest, an in game mail, or something via the bronze, silver or gold participation rewards that you get for events.
Would be nice to get some random stuff for winning. Maybe items, blueprints, casual clothes, etc.
All valid points. I have raised this issue in other posts as well. I keep trying to figure out why they haven’t implemented a better grouping system, but I can’t really come up with a good reason. I suggested too that they implement a WvW roster window that you can pop up once in a zone. It would show you;
1. Who is in the zone from your server, what guild they’re in, etc.
2. What commanders are in zone and who is in their group.
3. It could also show smaller groups and each group leader could set their current objective. (ie. defend Blue Lake Tower, harass supply lines, etc)
The possibilities are endless when you start to think about how much this would enhance WvW. Everyone wants to be a part of a group trying to accomplish something. Currently, it tends to have a lost feel to it and leads to more zerging and less strategy.
Maybe somebody reads these suggestions. Maybe something is already in the works.
It’s weird, my interrupt is always on cooldown when I’m incapacitated yet when I go to finish somebody off, I’m interrupted 90% of the time by them. And some classes can interrupt me 4-5 times before I can finish them.
but my main point isn’t to really use names, although I would prefer that. My point is to clean up my screen so I don’t see 500 letters saying, “Gates of Madness Invader” or “xxxxxxxxxxxx Invader” It just doesn’t do the trick for me. I would rather just see a dot, arrow or some other icon above their heads. WvW looks so bad during a fight with all the text on screen. What is probably an epic battle is hidden behind walls of text. I have tried to use a trebuchet on the walls of text but it doesn’t work.
To your point Raphael, I would like the option of selecting what I see. Some might want to see names and others like you may not want to see names. Although, I bet if they gave you the option you would turn names on eventually.
Just give us some options.

i believe there is an upgrade for supply caravans. However, the problem is almost every upgrade is just too expensive for anyone not level 80. They should scale the cost of upgrades and siege to the player’s level.
Less weather in WvW though… It’s hard enough to hold 15 FPS as it is.
In the gaming world of PvP I don’t think anyone wants to be dehumanized. Why not let me see who is owning me? I might want to make a list of people to get revenge on. The technology is there to just show the other player’s name. They do it in just about every other game out there… If nothing else, give me more options as to what I can see.
The other problem that I didn’t even mention in my OP is that it is almost impossible to tell the difference between the 2 other factions on the battlefield, unless there is just a few fighting. I’d rather see 2 different colors or something.

Please, please, please can we eliminate the gigantic text over every player in WvW?
There is nothing worse than seeing 20 + “Gates of Madness Invader” on my screen.
Here’s what I’d like to see. Since there are Blue, Green, and Red used for WvW territories, why not just make your name the corresponding color? If I’m on blue team my name would appear in blue to everyone, and red’s names would appear red and green’s names would all appear green. I don’t need to see their server name over their head. Why can’t we see their actual name?
Another option would be to just put an arrow or a dot above them in the color of their server.
Bottom line, the text is just too much.
My suggestion as stated in another post was to add an interface that lets players see who is in the zone from their server, what groups there are, what objectives they are working on and if they added such an interface I think it would help to solve your issue.
As it is now, I run by a supply depot, I grab supplies, I don’t care who’s doing what because frankly I don’t know who’s doing what. If I could see that your guild is grouped and defending KEEP X, I might not take supplies from your route. Or in some cases, I might even join your cause.
Arenanet, add an interface for WvW zones. It’s not that difficult.
I’ll take the other side of this… why have a reset at all?
I think when a server owns a majority of all maps, they should start to get dragon attacks at various buildings. The dragons attack keeps and players and does significant damage. The bonus for them, is if they can kill the dragon they get good rewards. So what does this do for the losing servers?
It allows a big enough distraction that they can start advancing. In addition, put some free blueprints at our main base so that we can prepare for an attack. While the winning team is trying to defend / kill dragons, the weaker servers are setting up for an assault.
I think something like that is an option. If nothing else, make it so the rotation is monthly. On the first of each month everything will be wiped.
That would be fine too. Good suggestion.
You are right about the huge battles and lag. I can’t stand it. The unfortunate thing about it is you need that many people to take castles. Even if I turn down every graphic setting on my PC I still lag horribly. I think it’s server lag and it sucks the fun right out of the game. From the devs point of view though, I’m not sure how to fix this. If you lower the HP of structures it’s only going to invite more zerging. If you limit the number that can come into a zone, you end up with long wait times. It definitely is something that needs to be addressed.
As for the cost of items… well I just made a post on how to Fix WvW. I think if they implemented an interface that allowed you to see who’s in your zone (on your side), what guild they’re in, what group they’re in, with commander objectives, it would make it less of a risk to spend some money on siege and upgrades. In other words, if you had commander Bob set an objective “Defend Durios Tower”, and a small squad of 10 doing that, you might have more help and confidence that it would get done.
1. Currently the WvW scene is chaotic. With free server transfers, players are simply hopping servers to get on the winning teams and zerging the competition.
Fix: Start charging a minimal fee to transfer servers ($2-$5)
2. Coordination. It would be easier if there was an interface when you enter a WvW zone that would allow you to see
A) who’s in the zone on your side, what guild they’re in, etc.
B) who the commanders are and what squads they are controlling
C) Commander objectives. Allow each commander to specify what goal they are trying to accomplish. (ex. Defend Stonemist, Attack Durios Tower, etc.)
The idea here is to allow a casual player to instantly feel a part of the action. If you are not in a large guild already doing some coordinated WvW it is very easy to feel lost.
3. Finally, fix it so guild claiming of a structure cannot be ninja’d by the first guy who clicks it. I’m not sure how to fix this but something should be done.
WvW seems to favor zerging at the moment. There isn’t a whole lot of emphasis on claiming and defending. On my server, we barely have enough playing to claim one map but when the zerg of 75+ players comes rolling through, we lose a majority of it.
