Crafting gives no mastery experience, nada, zip, zilch, null.
I find this disconcerting and off-putting. One of the things I love about this game is that nearly everything you do has always given some kind of experience: gathering, crafting, hunting, mapping, hearts, hero points, events, dungeons, fractals, etc.
I find it to be a disappointment that post Heart of Thorns crafting has been downgraded in such a fashion as to give no contributory experience to post level 80 old Tyria progression.
Perhaps this is an oversight, or something that is still being worked out? I’d like to hear from someone official, please, that would give me renewed hope for the future of this issue. There are a lot of people who level toons first and do crafting later so that they can acquire sufficient resources, just like there are a lot of people who go back and finish mapping on toons after leveling to 80.
I spend the last 2 days soloing every treasure mushroom in the 4 zones. I got to each of them at least once, and I got to VB, AB, and TD more than once.
It really helps to have 2-3 more folks, but you can do it solo.
Doing VB solo was something like one of those nightmares that never seems to end, but about 25 minutes of running around like a crazy person, spinning, dodging, evading, burning, running, turning, leaping, gliding off the edge and back again, rinse and repeat over and over all the while burning dps on that dang mushroom saw me victory.
Mastery requirements for elite collections...

Mallis got it going on. Nice sense of perspective and humor.
This is just way too much. You really expect me to grind out all of the pvp ranks just to get the dragon finisher? What kind of bull kitten is this?
I’m a pve player but I care about finisher skins skins. I want the dragon finisher. I’m giving up precious time learning the new metagame for pve to grind pvp ranks for a skin. It’s frustrating because there’s just too much.
I’ve been doing lots of hotjoin and unranked and today I decided to sit down and calculate how much rank points I need to get the skin based on what I already have. I need to get 3.8 million points. That’s 2300 unranked victories. Am I going insane? Am I really willing to spend 430 hours if I win every game just to get a skin that’s cool but not overly flashy or anything because it’s gated behind such a wall of Bull kitten?
Legend arises should require this much experience grinding, not the basic finisher skin for your pvp rank. It’s just too much and it’s making me resent the game rather than enjoy it because I have to go into pvp to get a skin that I can’t get in pve. It’s making me so frustrated.
You mean all i have to do is throw this ring into the lava and the whole thing is over? What an over-climax…
I know a guy already finished all the masteries, 100% mapping in all the new zones, and a mass of achievements. He’s already gone off to play something else because he was “bored”.
Some of us are here to play for the experience of playing. Some come to play to obtain a goal(s), whine if they are given it outright, leave once they’ve got it, then whine about lack of content.
We had a map in Verdant Brink last night that cooperated and got Tier 4 in the day and Tier 4 at night, killed all the bosses in the canopy. Dozens of people got bladed coat boxes at the end, along with other fun loot drops. This was not a guild, or even a group of guilds; it was a massive pug who cooperated. Amazingly there were people grinding spiders throughout the entire event. But guess what, it’s what they chose to do and it doesn’t bother anyone else, so let them. I just hate to hear anyone whining about their choices.
I’ve seen a pug guild created that runs Dragon Stand, Noxious pod runs, Tarir meta successfully multiple times a day. No TS or mumble, no officers or complicated hierarchy, no gear requirements. Just listen in chat, pay attention, and cooperate.
Same. exactly the same.
And me. cancel revolving ad infinitum
Just saw the announcement vis-a-vis clarifications on stuff. Now I bought GW2 on Jan. 25, 2016, and this week already purchased Ultimate edition of the expansion. I’m happy with either the refund of the original purchase of the core game OR a new character slot.
Given that I’d already bought Ultimate, I clearly didn’t expect any consideration necessary, so it’s all whipped cream on top of my ice cream.
Thanks to all you GW2 staff.
