…It happened to other bosses as well, Commisar not spawning, Claw being invul all the time, Fire Elemental not spawning after Golem Defense event, but no lashing ever went out.
It’s simple: communicate without flame, and people gets the message. Now like I said, players can whine and complain about it, or just move on, after all, the game offers a lot more than a single or couple of bosses.
Well, the scale is significantly different compared to the other world bosses. I believe if people had simply WP into, say, Frostgorge Sound, and Claw was broken, they may kick a fit, but it’d be small scale and they’d move on, like you indicated.
Now take several hundred people in multiple overflows, being coordinated and lead, waiting patiently for hours, on an event they may not believe will be successful, that depends on several critical variables. The event turns out to be broken. There will be, understandably so, a much more elevated reaction, when compared to Claw being broken. I get why they’re ticked off, and they’re entitled to their opinion. I just wouldn’t word it as strongly as some have.
As an IT administrator, I probably would have been checking in occasionally on Sparkfly Fen, if I had just released a patch affecting that area’s content, an area that is already a hot topic for debate. I wouldn’t be there 24/7, but I’d be checking in from time to time, and I would have put out at least a Twitter feed saying “Hey guys, there’s a problem in Sparkfly, we’ll check it out.”

…We UNDERSDTAND you don’t have answers – however telling us that while sounding like Siri just isn’t acceptable. (Hint, a little empathy goes a long long way!)
Empathy and IT-related personnel are often mutually exclusive.
GW2 life does go on though, so cheer up. See you all in Sparkfly Fen for back payment. (`.’)b

Last SAB today? * Cry Out Loud *

I’ll have a hard time doing without the SAB…Definitely the best part of GW2 for me thus far. As a consolation, Terraria 1.2 is out, which my guildies and I tried out last night.
Awesome.

I also participate regularly in Tequatl battles. As a fellow commander, I understand the amount of work you put in, the sacrifice, the stress, the patience. We appreciate it, we really do. Most of the time I stay for 2-3 more Tequatl kills after the first, even though I won’t get any significant in-game reward, because I know someone needs help, because I want to back up the organized leadership of the event, and to support the community.
You’ve been experiencing one side of humanity, don’t let it get you down. We tend to give in to our negative impulses, but when we get it right, it’s something to see. I’m sure you’ve had several great runs. Just think, that was over 100 people organized, focused & cooperative. You’re doing good work.

Tribulation Mode Improvements (Especially W2)

The only time I felt the tribulation cloud involved luck is during the run in Storm Top, along the icy edge with the mountains blowing. There isn’t much wiggle room, and several times he ignores me and then turns around with his hilarious expressions and tosses a bolt my way right as I jump, sending me off into the void.
In the pagoda of Pain Cliffs, you can hide behind the columns during the trib cloud’s bolt assault. Sometimes you’ll also lose aggro, which is handy.
The Trib cloud is incredibly annoying, but also quite entertaining, so I’d prefer he stick around.

You shouldn’t have to worry about the gong problem any longer, as an update now resets your character position after the gong has been hit and phases back to a solid object.

Rytlock’s Critter Rampage is my 2nd favorite, next to Shortcut Eagle. I’d love to have it on the Boom Box.

No invisible/luck based kills on the NES?? I would have to disagree.
FF1-Warmech is almost instant death for a level appropriate party that unluckily draws the straw. Hell, a fleet of cocatrices is the same until you have defensive gear for the situation. I say almost because my sister beat down Garland with a white mage, doing 1 dmg each attack, after he instagibbed the rest of her party.
Mega Man’s invisible gap platforms, over spikes.
Metal Gear / Snake’s Revenge – Instant, invisible death waiting everywhere.
There are more, but I just realized the game that SAB 2-2 reminds me of. Kung –kitten Heroes/Little Ninja Brothers. Now I’ll have to play it.

That jump is annoying. After the first 2 waypoints I think, Storm Top is a breeze. I ace the matrix jumps, but those “jump on a nickel” jumps are a nuisance to me.

I love the SAB. It’s the most fun I’ve had in Guild Wars 2. I am a retro junkie though, growing up with the Atari, Commodore 64, ColecoVision, NES and so on. Blowing away hours in the SAB is pretty much what I did with all those old games. Turn off the machine and your achievements are gone in many games, besides self-satisfaction. Nowadays I try to top my time in Tribulation mode.
I don’t have any legendary/ascended gear besides some trinkets..I’ve never been a real gear-grinder type for MMOs, so that aspect doesn’t appeal to me. GW2 is an awesome game, which I enjoy, but I dunno…I think I’ll be playing a lot less of GW2 after the SAB is gone.

I noticed this tonight as well. Normally I ace those lilypads, but due to the lag, tonight was quite a different story :O. The health resets made it even more interesting.

The last 3 times I respawned to that waypoint, I was not in the spikes. Any other day, I would have died 1-2 times in those 3 spawns. Perhaps I was lucky…

With the current design, item acquisition would cause problems in skipping certain areas.
We’re referring to Mario games to explain level completion requirement? Do we remember the 8-bit Mario games properly?

In the pagoda, try to lure the assassins to you, on the steps. Mark your distance from the dart trap above or below you. Try to keep your back facing the wall, unless you need to side-step an attack.

Yes it seems to be the log’s transition from a moving and intangible object to solid, and the player jumping into the log exactly during that transition, that causes this problem. What a pain…

Infuriating bug at the end of 2-2

Several others have reported the same problem. What is the sequence of events that lead to this? Did you jump on the log?, as it was moving back to its stationary position?
Some have been able to get party members into the area, who then dig for bunnies, to kill the stuck player. I don’t know if that would work on the log?, probably not.

There is a spot you can stand for the whole ride, providing you have a potion or two to heal up a couple times.
Yeah I always have full potions for the ride
. Funny enough, one time the owls hit me like 4 times in a row, in the back. I didn’t even have time to heal. I guess they saw the bag of potions…

Shortcut Eagle’s theme music is great, as well as the visuals. Just a blast to play through. I wish we didn’t have to worry about getting knocked off, then I could really cruise along, but I still feel it’s one of the best parts of SAB.

I’ve been having a blast with SAB. In the 4-5 months I’ve been playing GW2, this is the most fun I’ve had. Love the music & the atmosphere. Had visions of Kid Niki, Conquest of the Crystal Palace and Shadow of the Ninja in my head during World 2-2. When I made it to the rapids-gator section of 2-1, “Maigono Maigono Koneko-chan. Anata no ouchi wa doko desu ka” was all I heard. I didn’t jump into SAB right at launch, so I missed several of the problems mentioned in this thread.
Thanks so much Josh & crew for all the hard work in making this possible.
While I can understand why the length of the the zones in World 2 is frustrating, I enjoyed having more content as opposed to less. Additional waypoints may have alleviated some of the burden.
I like the slingshot, it was a godsend for those peanut butter-jelly pests. The chain-sticks are powerful. They make circle strafing very effective. The bomb AoE is generous. Handy for taking out assassins.
The only gripes that I feel are significant are:
-hit box detection for the assassins can be a bit random.
-the “Wings of Justice” jump, which was hosed due to the flower update. Not impossible by any means, but annoying.
-platforms in the way of jump locations, which push you sideways mid-jump, resulting in a cheap death. You can find a couple in 2-2, near the octopus, some in the trees as well.

Progress in which way? “xyz of secrets” achievements progress, yes will be saved. “xyz of baubles” achievements progress, no will not be saved. Waypoint progress will not be saved.
Sorry to hear you got stuck. I’ve only heard of the bunnies as a way out. I think you may be out of luck. Perhaps someone else has an idea?

When you consider the time invested, you can make a ton of money farming in the gauntlet, in comparison to the farming going on down below. I’ve tried it a few times, but something about the whole process doesn’t feel right personally, so I haven’t done it more than 2-3 times.
I spent about an hours yesterday rezzing dead gauntlet participants throughout the pavilion. I don’t have a problem with it. While it would be nice if everyone looked out for one another, even if it meant an inconvenience on their part, it isn’t fair to expect it or demand it. Do you want something given to you under duress?
The dead need help with a rez. The farmers need help with peace and quiet. I can understand both needs. I think cooperation would be the best option, but it seems most prefer a zero-sum game.

I agree with most of your points. The only one I disagree with is #5, and it’s really a personal preference. I’ve been having a lot of fun hanging out with (sometimes commiserating with) other players in the queue area. I’ve met many players I most likely would never have seen for more than a few seconds in passing. Today I’m just hanging out there handing out rezzes.
Personally, the only fight that I feel involves luck is that bumb Strugar and his Cujo…
