EoTM is better than WvW...

I’m not sure if “farm and gold” should be deciding or even remotely important factor for… anything. I kind of liked EotM but constant whining about how the map is pve, even from people of your own team/faction or w/e made me kind of reconsider …Deffending against EotM zergs was cool though… until gates went paper and wvw bonuses were nerfed. But then again I acquired so much distaste towards farming and reward system of GW2 that I just quit. I came back to check how wvw is doing though, but I get it’s not doing well at all.

I was content with them. Didn’t seem strong to me as others say but increasing cap on them would be ok. As for deffending, still got no chance against night capping blobs. I’d also like to see superior version if this gets passed.

Waiting for the ban lol

ayy lmao, my sides. At this rate i wouldn’t be surprised.

To everyone else – I hear you, I know some of these ideas dont sit well but i’m thinking long term growth not maintenance like we are in now. I’ll drop this too — think about WoW PVP, they basically took gear out of the equation and it’s experiencing a massive Renaissance of activity. I dont think WvW can do that due to the different way stats influence (i.e. condis) which is why I said leverage the PvP system of giving different base spreads.

Anyways, im like leonidas at the end of 300. Im ready to get wrecked by another ban.

lol, ban for what ? sharing ideas ? :P

I’d actually empower ways of deffend such as gates and their means of withstanding zergs. For I see action also in deffending stuff. One of the best fights I have ever seen were deffending keep/garry from enemy with larger group of people while still being severly outnumbered.

PvP gear, I’m not sure. It would make everyone equal theoreticaly and only your skills would matter (theoreticaly) but I’m not sure. Perhaps it would be better to improve scaling so that your gear only gives you like max 5 % boost at ascended over basic or something else. Then having all skills in wvw from beginning and I think this was at place few years ago.

That thing with season seems rational but with population stuff happening it seems impossible to achieve.

The other stuff … I mostly don’t agree. Although base run speed increase idea is also something to think about I find it to be not the best solution as it will ease quickcapping and ktraining

EotM can be used fow wvw but it needs good deal of adjustments.

If anything, I’m comming to certain conclusion and that’s to reduce rewards from achievment points, this way lessening impact of achievment farmers on wvw but also other mods. Or then slowly phasing out achievments that require repetitive farming and replacing them with something more skill related.
Then rationalisation of reward tracks as they might be encouraging training and farming in a way that I’d eliminate some of these tracks and repalce them with new tracks dropping wvw siege and other stuff. (i know there is one of them now but others are still copies of pvp tracks).

1. There seems to be special discouraging aspect that comes from farming/train culture in this game which I have never seen before. Not even in wow (although there are such things too in some places). You see it in every of the game modes. Mostly it’s not that bad, but sometimes it’s getting quite ridictulous, sad and discouraging. In several aspects arenanet doesn’t seem to be minding this as it seems to bring in more people to areas such as EotM and Silwervastes.

2. Duelists [(in WvW maps) and patheticaly empty OS]

Sometimes when encountering these kind of players, like farmers in crab toss, individuals destroying bridges in EotM with players on them or pvp reward track farmers I wonder if the current reward system (I mentioned only AP tho) is, well… a good thing for this game. What would those modes be without them tho…

Sounds kind of complicated but might be not the bad idea. If I understand you correctly then you are saying that current system doesn’t penalize players revived from downed state enough in regards for how they were downed. If that’s the case, then I think it would be interesting to discuss this more here.

Duels, Inspections and Vehicals

dueling would need elaboration. I generaly hate it in wvw and everything that would be able to disperse it might be beneficial in some way but may also backfire. It is true that in wow it works and it works well… but wow has 2 faction system that promotes faction pride and interfactional hate. Here we have OS which is empty… every time i go there while err errs go polute borderlands and eotm

Inspections are also something seen in wow. well… i’m not sure about this one. since this game has, in my opinion better wardrobe system you can find gear you like in wardrobe tab. I’m not sure tho… maybe it would not hurt…. just maybe.

Mounts… not really… abolish waypoints, then maybe, at least that’s what i believe. You can transport quickly everywhere. With motorbikes and stuff you seem to be once again refering to wow. There you can only heartstone to certain places with cd so mounts do have sense… here I’m not sure. Imagine then in wvw… would be strange. In pvp ? would be strange too. In wow pvp where you have 10 to xy ppl and bigger maps they may work but here idk. PVE maybe, but would still be kind of pointless with waypoints.

edit

No to Inspections: As I said, GW2 isn’t other games. It’s meant to have been designed as a community friendly game. Raids being introduced has already caused some sense of division. Gear inspection where someone gets kicked for have 10 less power than what someone is “supposed” to have will increase division. It also should never be forced.

Gw is saltfest. Zerk and meta are present in dungeons already, not sure if in Raids. In wow there is lot’s of qq about insane gear requirements for raids, kicking and raging so in that aspect you are true. Even dungeons got affected but there is also plague of heirlooms going on. But I’m not sure… I have already seen stuff you mention, even without inspections. not sure if it will get worse with introduction of that, it’s highly possible though that it will.

Hard to do anything with lvl 11 in wvw. The mode is optimized for lvl 80. You get upscaled, yes but you still lack skill trees – which is a big deal here… Also have you just started gw and you have only lvl 11 char or do you have some other lvl 80 chars ? What do you mean about fun vampire ? – you mean like necro spec which I’m not sure if is even achievable at lvl 11 or some RP stuff ? With running back thing i kind of agree… but what can be done ? adapt wow system of recovering body from graveyard ?
Somehow with zerging stuff you remind me of EotM problems where people are sometimes lazy af. That said… except roaming and zerging you can still – scout, deffend stuff and scout it, troll def it, gank, kill people and terorize peole, bust duelists or duel duelists (which I don’t recommend). But ye, maybe the mode is lacking something, maybe your point is valid… but you need to elaborate…

That said I don’t know why are upgrades not implemented there yet. Seems more like intention to me, more than anything else.

Another thing I noticed is how shockingly unpopular GW2 is. Go to twitch and there is almost no viewers. People don’t know or remember the franchise and they are on a decline. I don’t know why exactly but there is no recognition, there is nothing viral (the one cheater who got deleted after cheating in PvP was the only thing the past 2 years).

The question would be, what excatly could go viral here. Seems like PVP, WvW are kind of dull and bland now with lot’s of problems, especially on wvw side. They aren’t bad tho. Also expansion and stuff after… i think like it failed to make impact outside gw comunity and even there it was not that successful. Guys that showed first this game to me have all left though I think they quit mmo’s altogether. I’m still on vanila gw and I’m still not sure whether to buy expansion or not…
It’s just that there is something lacking. Maybe more objects to interact with and immerse you for more roleplay, maybe more game mods for pvp and maybe more fixes for wvw… I don’t know.

Thank god the cannons are gone.

On this topic I kind of agree with second replier and I’d like cannons to return. Also amount of defensive siege didn’t really change. Cannons were present even before this change but their use was kind of limited… which i didn’t quite understand back when I first found out.

the price on TP seems indeed nonsensous to me but it’s hard in game capitalism. Demand seems to be big, supply extremely low. One can wonder though, if this is not the right time for someone from GW team to change algorithms/drop rate a bit so that supply increases and gives more chance to “mall buyers”. Current situation greatly favours speculation as even if someone posted those “boots” for lower price It would have been imediately bought and resold for ridiculous one. In this way I agree with what Malediktus said about increasing drop rate.

AnetChrisB post on Reddit…

“We’ve also had a substantial increase in global WvW participation since reward tracks, world linking, and the return of the Alpine borderlands.”

“substantial increase”….

It’s time for some of you to give up your single server mentality and focus on moving wvw forward, not backwards.

And which way I may ask is forwards and which one is backwards ? Because among things you quoted is “return of the Alpine Borderlands”, clearly a step back, not a bad step though. You contradict yourself. Also this statement does not reflect how much did each of the individual changes, and if in any way, contribude to this “substantial increase”.

Then, numbers are one thing. Quality is another… I don’t think quality improved that much… opposite might be true in same cases. In others… I’d agree that there was progress… but this world linking… I’m not sure if it’s one of them. Not saying it’s terrible tho, but ambiguous at least.

To elaborate more, I’d actually propose more radical approach as this “lower server tossing”, as someone here named it has problematic effect on comunity. This change I’d “try” would be to permanently connect realms wow style.

Any condi system changes coming?

You say that conditions need to be capped, then you talk about cases when some class/build does both condi, crit and raw damage. What about builds that only do one of these ? What about those that only do heavy condition damage but no raw dmg nor crits ?
What you mention seems to be more like a specific class/build balance problem. You also seem to find solution to this in imposing limits, similar to those that were in place year and half ago which were changed after summer patch 2015.
Not sure if that would work.

Not sure what it is but it manifest itself extremely in EotM. From PVE aspect, it manifests itself in SW. Both of these are newer areas… tho hmm.

[Suggestion] WvW Lobby

in WvW

Posted by: Wizigard.4760

Wizigard.4760

I was wondering, what do people think of the idea of having a WvW lobby similar to what we have for PvP. This could include:

-Dueling area-would work like the guild arena, but designed specifically for 2 people who party up then talk to an npc to enter their own arena.
-Merchant area
-A way to test out builds with all runes/sigils/gear stats similar to how pvp build panel works, except without the pvp limitations (amulet, one rune etc)
-Dummy golems with different armor levels, for example 2k, 2.5k, 3k armor, to test out damage.

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

If It would drain those duelists, (arch cuncur of this game, hicup), from wvw I’d definitely support it.
Just… don’t make players teleport there before they want to enter wvw. Would be more useless loading screens. Guess there are more important problems in wvw world tho… still a nice idea.

I stopped playing classic wvw maps some time ago, maybe with EB as an exception. I did not buy HoT, one of several reasons was that I did not feel that wvw was getting enough good attention (lots of bad one tho, golem week event, infamous “peace day”, several weeks of broken guards etc.). So far not purchasing does not seem like a bad decision to me. With new changes that may come some day there is a chance that things will improve but I’m sceptical.

There was word of borderlands rotation, theoreticaly I’d be interested in seeing that implemented.

If there is an issue, better, if it is an issue of such magnitute, one should complain about it, criticize and question. You are the customer and you are perfectly right to criticize. Now I think that wvw problem goes beiond new borderlands as they are only part of said problem. The thing with dolyaks might involve players from both sides in upgrading process more which is good. Thing with catapults… I don’t play on new bl’s so I’m not sure what to say about it. However not being able to revive downed players while in combat might help a bit though I think this will more likely dramaticaly affect place like EotM… and I believe in positive way… I could elaborate but I’m too lazy for that.
As for other maps I’m not sure.

However this might be the first update or rather sneak peek in a very long time that did not invoke negative feelings inside me. Still… I’ll hold back till I see “finished product”… as my dissatisfaction with the game reached the point I quit… I came back eventually but I still have not yet decided whether I will stay… Also small suggestion/plea, please make shield generators available for vanilla users.

Dungeon Rewards Reduced, why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wizigard.4760

Wizigard.4760

I have not even got to the dungeons yet in the game, and I was not going to play them because of all the elitists people and people kicking others out of groups. Now, that the rewards have been decreased, I may start to try dungeons as I can now not worry about having people hijack my group and kick me for a speed run. I want to take my time and explore all the dungeons and kill every single thing inside no matter how long that takes. I do not care about the rewards other than I expect something for my trouble but I don’t play to farm gold and all I can say is “It’s about time ANET” that you did something to get rid of all these toxic people who are just using the game and not playing the game. They are messing up the economy and we finally have a system where everyone can create their own legendary weapons and not be hostage to these gold/market manipulators. If I were ANET I would nerf every single thing that gets exploited until these players leave so the rest of us can play in peace.

You never got into dungeons yet you know all about those elitist party kicking people that play dungeons right ? During my almost one year experience with dungeons most of people I encountered were normal and friendly. I never joined any 5k ap group, full meta group and groups with checkgear nonsense as I did not meet requirements nor had gear for them, and It was right thing to do. There were always groups that did dungeons for exploration or even to earn money but earn it hard way. Dungeons, when not done by professionals are tough, some less, some more. To finish one with a pug group, sometimes of people that are doing dungeons for the first time can be very time consuming, yet rewarding if you have fun and then of course at the end you got 1 shiny gold piece, a reward well earned. Yet now after 3 years of “exploiting” as you say arena net decided to nerf this… hmm I wonder why ? There are many theories, exploit theory is not amongst them.
So if you dont care about rewards… reward others, if you hate getting gold and gear, give it to your teammates. Next finishing dungeon and getting paid for it in form of gold is in no way exploiting, it’s, (overused phrase I don’t usually use) using content as intended. If someone messed the economy (as you say, but I don’t agree) it was anet, because the only one to “blame” for giving player rewards for doing something like this is anet, not the players . Lastly there will always be exploiting, with or without… wise or unwise coments like yours. In this case, I believe those “inocent” are punished more, than those that were exploiting the system – e.g thieves selling exp in the end of dungs (which is their right to do but might be something to be adressed) will stay.. irony. We are nerfing dungeons at the same time we are tolerating farm ranking in eotm or in pvp custom arenas and other nasty things.
In my opinion this nerf has very little to do with keeping economy healthy, it’s more like keeping some content less appealing to others in order to sell the one that is “intended” to be sold.

As for statemets about excessive gold generation… that’s what gold sinks are used for otherwise gold earned from other stuff like events or whatever would also need to be nerfed as in long term it would also generate excessive amounts of new gold. Lastly dungeon gold generation was limited already, on daily basis… so what kind of exploiting…

diffrence is tho that a pu mesmer still has alot more defense when revealed then a ghost thief.

What do you mean ? Do you refer to boons that PU gives you or something else ? “Than revealed ghost thief” funny that, during time we fought against said thief acompanied by mesmer he got revealed, once ?

All this build seems to need is PVC, so toughness or defence should not be a problem for such thief, it’s not like you can burst and quickly kill full bunker character of any profession regardless of other defensive capabilities. In case of thief, it’s best defence seems to be it’s mobility which is exeptional.

I do believe this build still needs to be rationalized, current state is unreasonable.

I think that something is not right with this kind of build. Several times already have I encountered perma invi trapper thieves, especially one that was acompanied by mesmer. Still most of times we were more against them, yet we spent most of time ressing each other and attacking wind. On this particular example, one could see ridiculosity of said thief build. While we managed to down and kill PU mesmer that acompanied thief several times, we killed said thief only once (he prolly got too kitteny), and bear in mind we had to fight him for, well, like 20 minutes… that’s just not right and none of those arguments supporting such builds convinced me that it somehow is.

When mesmers had their unnerfed PU’s many individuals, some of them thieves (see mesmer better thief than actual thief topics) were well, arguing over this forums that it’s unfair because mesmers would inflict condi and then vanish and you would either die or if not they would reappear and finish you (I oversimplified this of course).

One could also say that those mesmer builds, especially condi bunker ones could have been owned by right ammount of condi cleanse and anti condi food, and… yea it’s true, well, not completely but yes. Yet PU was nerfed by 50%, and somehow I believe that this nerf was right thing to do. Yet here we have build that can be perma invi builds running around that can inflict dmg without even having to reveal themselves. With regards to recent PU nerf i think it would be right to something about this build too, i’m not sure what but…

Nothing rebalance for scepter?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Wizigard.4760

Wizigard.4760

Scepter is difficult to balance because of the clone generation on AA. As a mesmer player I’d like it if the last attack wasn’t so slow too, but increasing the speed of the final attack risks imbalancing mesmer DPS by increasing clone generation speed.

Have you tried experimenting with adding 4th chain skill inbetween torment and clone creation ? If balanced correctly/timed, you could possibly speed up scepter attacks this way while keeping needed delay between summon chain skills.

Wizigard.4760

Condi damage does not need to be nerfed, we don’t need more condi removal we just need longer cooldowns on abilities that apply conditions or a global cooldown for cany one condition to be applied again, don’t be stupid and cry for a full condi nerf as it’s not needed.

I believe most of what you said is, as some others already pointed out just well… not necessarily true. There are lot’s of condition applying skills that are not only easily predictable and thus dodgeable but also have long cool downs, take signet of spite for most obvious example, rather long casting time, blockable, dodgable and with pretty big cooldown time. Some of necro condi skills also apply condition on caster, these conditions can be removed or even used to casters advantage but you really need to know what you are doing and have some sort of rhytm which when disturbed… There are even skills that although unblockable can still miss. Of course there are other condition applying possibilites, some of which only involve spamming atk 1 but these are nowhere as effective and don\t cause high enough dmg,. Certain power builds on the other hand can apply insane amounts of dmg, take thief or full zerker warr. This dmg is not applied over time but instantly… and definitely doesnt have high cooldown times and can be repeated. Also full zerk rangers can apply insane ammounts of dmg from high/safe distance with ability to increase distantance but i guess this is not an issue to some. Glassiness of power builds comes in part because of strange obsession with highest possible dmg without taking into account ones deffensible abilities. That said your comment about condis is too general and inacurate. There is indeed a class that was buffed after recent skill/trait changes which can almost instantly apply high amounts of condi dmg, has high mobility and can disappear without punishment if things dont go right. This class and a certain popular build it’s users use is perfect at countering full zerker characters, especially those with less experience, willingness to learn and inclination to spam skills without… using head. I would agree though that this certain class skills shall be “balanced”. There are however ways to counter even this kind of class behaviour but these require lot’s of research and patience and observation, food and maybe even reworking of build.

So instead of talking about conditions as whole and applying generalized terms which are only true to certain skills of certain classes it would be good to name concrete skills which you believe should have increased cooldowns/cast times or w/e. Also i’d be interested in that 8k dmg for a tick which can’t, i asume, be dodged, cleansed and can be applied over and over again. The only way I believe this can be done would be getting by several stacks of confusion n other smelly stuff and to this situation reacting by spamming atk.

Upgrading and defending isn’t roaming….It’s upgrading and defending. Im talking about small man roams that look for skirmishes. Dueling is a crucial part of sharpening your skills and making you a better player. Dueling spots in WvW definitely have their own culture and strengthen the community as a whole. I have made so many friends dueling in WvW that I would have never met waiting in OS. I have also recruited good players I have met in duels to my guild that I have played with for years. It is a part of WvW whether you acknowledge it or not and it isn’t going anywhere.

A bit off topic reaction to this off topic post:

Then please go duel to Obsidian sanctum… If anything duelists are the only players that ever made me mad in WvW. Every time I see 2 players fighting I have dilema – help the player and risk getting shouted “get the kitten out of here” or not helping and getting called unhelpfull kitten. My opinion on duelists is very low… even to the point I nearly decided to attack regardless of circumstances on basis – i see enemy, kill it without questioning. And dueling is definitely not essential part of wvw, more like biproduct. That said I can’t order duelists not to duel in bl’s but I don’t need to respect them. Now as for GvG, I have seen spectacular gvg in obsidian sanctum, with no interference and high number of observers. Besides that, killing people and spawncamping using exploit is really low so you have already showed us how you help “strenghten wvw community”.

To the point:

But that said… the fact that you can chill “peacefully” in wvw shows that something is indeed not right… no more needs to be said to that. We can argue about what’s real point of wvw. We can say that if it’s fun then you are indeed having a good time however it seems that important part of wvw players is not having that good time. I still play wvw and enjoy it because of people (not duelists) and sometimes hilarious situations this event creates but it quickly get’s boring. It however makes me respect people that despite the circumstances, command, try to deffend and upgrade… that would be the only positive side of this event, and also loot.

In my opinion and also in opinion of several other people from my guild and mapchat in general this event turned whole wvw into one big karma train. The “great success” of EotM was exported to other borderlands as well. Deffending doesn’t matter at all. I wont mention bugs here because they seemed more funny to me than distracting but one thing i noticed is that less and less players seem to play in current matchup. All this endless karma train stuff was funny at first maybe but then it somehow becomes boring and monotone. WvW shall be about competitivnes, and I think that’s what most of people seem to expect of it, not for it to be one big karma wheel. The result is that during peak hours i see many people joining karma train but some of hardcore players that remain after “casuals” leave seem to be missing. It might be the heat too… but I think they just got upset/bored or w/e. Our oposing servers also seem to make no effords to resist us when we, with dwindling numbers do late golem rush. We go through deserted borderlands and just cap stuff with few golems, everything paper, upgrades don’t matter at all. Where used to be night blobs seem to be deserted bl’s. When during late hours like 5 to 10 members representing my guild were active, now it’s 3-4. As I said… maybe it’s heat… but more likely it’s because of enviroment this event created. And for the future, I think anet should not go in this direction with wvw. Instead encourage fighting and deffending, even in EotM…

Indeed, I too did experience ultra fast gate killing. In several instances, when blob was at it’s peak it was not even necessary to build ram as gate went down in lest than minute. Also quickness durations are insane. I feel like the patch buffed certain player characters in certain situations so much that NPC’s and objects are now kind of laughably weak. I was able to cap eotm reactors at around half of time it normall takes.
