Bumping this. I cant even equip my staff until they fix fireball and not make it look like a flaming tennis ball.
I use exotic celestial armor and ascended celestial trinkets including celestial Mawdrey. For runes use what ever suits your play style, there is too many good ones to list. I’ve literally never had a problem with any of the content and it works very well for me.
The yellow and green reward boxes in the heart of maguuma causes crush, and after hot got live, the last personal story on lvl 10 didnt gave key
There is a fix so far that seems to work. Set the UI size to normal and the chests shouldn’t crash the game.
I play a celestial staff ele in wvw most of the time. I use traveler runes and a berserker weapon and sometimes switch to soldiers. With sigil of strength and bloodlust I can get back some of the damage lost from wearing celestial. I do perfectly fine in every dungeon and world event. I also have good heals and condition damage. Is there better builds out there, of course but this allows me to switch roles on the fly and I find it works pretty well in most scenarios.
If your intent of using monk runes I recommend full clerics or nomad in WvW with a sigil of benevolence/water and buy delicious rice cakes off the trading post. You will get such insane green numbers off everyone in a zerg battle its addicting. As someone who is in WvW all the time it would be awesome if there was a few ele’s running that build constantly.
If there was a hoodie(s) I would buy one.
The spec seems cool and I am excited to use traps and a longbow but seriously the name is lame and not well thought out at all. Anet just change it to Demon Hunter (2 words) or Witch Hunter or something. I am a huge supporter of this game and I have been playing my guardian since launch but even I cringed when I read what the new specialization was called.
Terrible sounding name. Almost anything would be better.
While I do think the new mechanics seem cool, the name is utterly terrible. While I am excited for the new specialization lets hope they realize how ridiculous the name is and change it.

Hell even Demon Hunter would have been better. Please Anet, just change it. The class looks cool but the name… ugh….
Will PvE give more value to support builds?

A good way to give support builds more viability is to add more NPC’s that need to be kept alive in order for the event to complete. There was a lot of that added in the new areas and its a step in the right direction. I very much enjoyed keeping the Warmasters and the Dolyaks alive in the Silverwastes on my Elementalist.
For dungeons, not sure really. Perhaps add similar mechanics, like the NPC can’t die or you have to restart the instance (With check points of course). They could even revamp the old instances. Perhaps even tone down self healing on characters that have no stats in healing, thus requiring more support characters needed in groups. I’m not talking about adding the trinity back, but perhaps in harder end game content its more beneficial to the group and events to have players built as support.
After reading this I had an idea. If your on one of the very populated tier 1 servers and the maps are pretty filled. Perhaps an option could pop up when you try to join WvW and it askes you to help in a less populated realm if your realms maps are pretty filled.
“We notice the battle in Jade Quarry is filled up, would you like to help the battle in Ehmry Bay? They could use more soldiers!”
*Joins Ehmry Bay Shard, receives Courageous Volunteer Buff; +30% WvW Experience, +30% Magic Find, +30% Karma. *
This is just an example of two realms. Maybe it could always match you up with the other servers who share EOTM with you.
We have no ele commanders on TC.
We do have some outstanding eles. They just very rarely command, only tag for a few minutes in emergencies.
Sometimes I see Valiwyn on, he only plays at night though. He’s a Sylvari Elementalist.
Do you understand why people even have to lie/post different gear to even get in a group nowadays? Everyone is so convinced that the only way to do a dungeon is to wear full berserkers gear.
I have run every single dungeon and fractals to 30+ on my rabid short bow trap ranger and never had a problem, complaint, or kick. I’ve been playing since launch.
Not trying to insult anyone but as I read this topic I see a lot of responses like “if they don’t die as fast as the group we know they are not wearing berserkers, and therefore will be kicked.” Like thats a bad thing, your punishing someone for not dying along with the group…? Some really weird backwards game playing that I don’t fully understand, and the more people try to rationalize it the more it seems like its toxic and needs to be changed.
Ok, some people like playing DPS, others like being more tanky, others like being more support. I would think the problem is that groups are being too exclusive now (pretty much for no reason, dungeons are all really easy) when there is really no need for it. How defensive the pro berserker meta people get is bizarre and again, probably why its going to get nerfed in the near future.
The stigma comes from an “all marbles in” perspective. If everyone’s marbles are in, we will win, if we aren’t winning because these numbers tell us, then the conclusion is that someone isn’t putting all of his marbles in, and there is tons and tons of evidence that proves this case.
The real problem here is that the PvE content allows this to happen.

If you’re going to gate the content in a way that makes other gear equally viable, you’re going to get one of three situations:
Most of you posting for changes here fall into at least one of these categories.
1.) Want the return of the trinity (will probably not happen)
2.) Want the end of elitism (I guarantee you, anything resembling roles will make it worse, because others will not be able to carry you if you fail/suck)
3.) Bandwagon fanbois reposting an idea from WoodenPotatoes that merely sounded catchy (most of us have seen the video, and I personally think no content in this game should ever reward a spec as forgiving as that)
4.) Have never done dungeon content more difficult than AC or CoF and don’t understand/realize the extent of active defense
5.) Want change for the sake of change (rather than the sake of improving)

Again I am not really understanding the opposite side of these arguments. If would add more depth to the game and keep people playing more and longer. All of these pro berserker meta points you give seem like rubbish to me.
1.) No we’re not asking for a trinity, we’re asking other sets to be useful instead of the mass majority of pve being done as a full glass cannon spec. Again I bring this argument up, why did they even bother to add stats in this game at all if none of it even matters other then Berserker? What is the fear here, that you might be asked to wear a different armor set once in awhile and not be able to see giant numbers?
2.) Never be able to stop elitism in any game, period. There is probably elitists in Goat Simulator.
3. ) I barely know who Woodenpotatoes is other then folks dropping his name from time to time. All I am doing is agreeing to some of the points the person in this video is making, how the stats in this game are all wonky.
4.) I have done every dungeon a very large amount of times. While I agree AC and CM should be on the easier side, same with story modes. I really think its cheesy/boring to have a whole group be pure glass cannon, run past all mobs with no consequence, stack in the corner and go AFK and have the boss die in 3 seconds. I’m not insulting anyone who does find that fun and not to get mad at others for not finding that fun. I’m just curious as to what game you previously came from before GW2.
5.) No its not change for the sake of change, its obviously something a lot of players (especially new players) don’t understand about the game design and want to improve upon. We’re trying to improve the game and many have given suggestions on how to do so and go about it. I’m going to ask this again, for the people who get annoyed at others for wanting other gear sets to be as viable as berserkers , what is the flippin point of even having other gear stats then? Or skills that do anything other then pure damage? If my berserker wearing guardian has the same about of healing and damage mitigation as a soliders/cleric/nomad guardian and they are just wasted stats, why even have armor/weapon/trait stats? Again, just make it closer to Team Fortress 2 where just all classes bring some skill or mechanic to the group and there are no stats.
Now I’m sure some pro meta/status quo players are going to respond and just tell me to “go play something else then n00b” or something. But perhaps its these players that should find something else to play because I think your playing the wrong genre of games . I’m very confused as to why people play games set in a fantasy setting with a mage, warrior, rogue, and cleric arch type if in fact they do not really like that sort of thing.

This isn’t a trinity game.People need to take a minute, shake out this idea of what an mmo “should be” that they’re all stuck on.
Then sit back down and see GW2 for what it is, an action game placed into an MMO.
It’s PVE is built upon an idea of Read and React. You’re given tools to handle different things, and if you act correctly you’re going to come out more or less unscathed. That’s the design of the game, it’s beautiful.
If you want a game that’s about managing health bars, tanking, and other stuff like that… well there’s plenty out there, but it’s not GW2.
A gimmicky event that supports tank gear, I can agree with him on that, everything else he talks about in that video is promoting GW2 getting closer to a trinity system.
Then why bother to even have armor/weapon stats in this game? Or different runes? Or even different classes for that matter. Why have classes that can heal or mitigate damage if its pointless? Why not even remove all the stats in the game then and just have a no stat system like one of those beat em up arcade games.
Honestly they are better off removing all the armor stats from armor/weapons/traits and just let runes decide what how your character is specced. I don’t know what else to say.

I think changing the way the story quests were presented are not what upset everyone this patch, many thought that was a cool idea. Removing a lot of fun things from the starting maps and level gating items for seemingly no reason are what did it. Also removing part the Greatest Fear story line from the Personal Story.
I don’t think level gating everything and dumbing down early content was needed as it was easy pretty easy to figure out in the first place. Anet would have been better to create more Tool Tips on things when you first click on it explaining exactly what it does. Or have some starting heart quests telling you to equip a bundle to do something that also includes Tool Tips. Was there even a player who said “oh a bundle of sticks let me pick it up, hey my skills are gone WTF!!!! This game is too hard and complicated, I can’t handle this! quits game forever”
And as for the class skills that get removed in the beginning (Mesmer shatter, Guardian Virtues, Ranger pet skills.) Surely there was a better way to handle that as well. My thought was to also include a better explanation of them instead of just out right removing them only for them to poof back when you hit the appropriate level. A better direction would have been to maybe not to include them in the opening tutorial but have to go to a trainer right when you get onto the normal starting map. Such as:
Charr Ranger goes through tutorial with NO pet, and defeats Duke Barradin.
Charr Ranger enters the next map and talks to the Guide NPC as normal.
Charr Ranger recieves a mail, tutorial pops up saying something like "hey you got a letter in your mailbox, players can send mail and open letters in this tab here (bright arrows pointing to mail box icon) ect ect…

Your deeds in the battle against Duke Barridan’s forces saved many lives and bought the Legions valuable time to repair the perimeter. Blah blah blah, ect ect…

Charr Ranger does quest which clearly details how to tame a pet, unlocks your ranger class skills once you tame the pet, and creates a little bit more of a roleplaying quest for everyone giving an idea of what a Ranger is all about. Also would excite the player to look for more pets to tame
This way it not only explains things clearly to the player, it also creates immersion as well. Most other MMOs have starting quests like this. I would challenge the Developers to just download some other RPGs for a little while and take some notes. Hell even Guild Wars 1 had a pretty good tutorial starting area, just play Prophecies for a bit and do the Pre Searing area one time. A lot of the skills you first get have a little quest to go along with them.
I might be interested. I play engie really well to the point where people have actually sent me death threats via whispers. Hit me up in game if you guys want to play a few games or something.
Going to add my vote to the NOT wanting Trahearne killed list.
I’m hoping Trahearne returns and if anything his story is expanded upon and gives everyone a reason to like him. I feel like a lot of the band wagon Trahearne hate is more due to bad/bland writing on Anet’s part. I feel like that is a problem with much of the personal story though (getting better though). Like a lot of things a very loud minority of players who felt he was bland and presented poorly too far into the story try and make it seem everyone in the game hates him and wants him to die. Not true.
Again, not everyone in this game hates Trahearne, I liked him and don’t wish to see him killed off..
This is my idea for pets and I think a few others have mentioned it; passive evasion.
-Feline pets have 30% chance to dodge incoming attacks
-Bears have 10%
-Drakes have 10%
-Canine have 20%
-Spiders have 15%
-Moas have 15%
-Birds have 30%
-Hooved animals have 10%
Or something similar. New 2nd tier Beast mastery trait called Combat Training which increases Pet dodge chance by 5 or 10%.
Most fun I have had in a long time in this game. Please dont nerf this Anet the game needs more of this sort of thing.

I really enjoyed watching the BT zergy fight the WM zergy outside of Wild Creek in EB, while the TC zerg jus sat in the tower confused at who to go after^^;.
I was yelling at everyone to get into Quentin but if you heard me on mumble I was like what the kitten did I cause here. That was one of the more crazy things I seen in WvW.
Had a great day today, led almost all day in EB! Had great fights with Kan and TC!
Same here, been leading TC in EB for like the last 5 hours. Me and you have been going at it for a few hours then. Very epic fights tonight!
Came in to say Good job to everyone I played with in TC Boarderland from Tarnished Coast. I was was in there most of the day and we have been doing great. Very fun and challenging on all sides. EB has been a nightmare though.

Keeps happening to me too, really driving me nuts. Been kicked out of story quests and had to start over, also really annoying in WvW and dungeons.
