yah know what kills a mesmer is to stun the real one and then burst them after.
You mean stun the mesmer and then they blink away?
The only time that staff really scales with zeker gear, is when you use the mage phantasm on open world bosses with max conditions stacked by other people. Or if you use a shatter specc in dungeons, and then the staff is nothing more than a clone generator with a defensive cooldown in chaos storm.
That said, I sometimes take the staff to apply chaos storm as an extra defence, and maybe with the clone generation on the odd occasion now and then. But sword/offhand and even the greatsword usually perform better in dungeon settings.
I liked Kasmeer ‘s bit, makes me want to go bash in a few heads once I’ve located where that magister lives.
Is still very much up to date. and stickied as well.
Well said, sadly I doubt they will change their mind.
They should do what Riot games does with their balancing issues. Work together with pro players or run massive Public Beta environments with open feedback on their changes from people who actually play Mesmer full time. Because clearly they don’t understand their own classes when the lead designer doesn’t even know how abilities interact and leave the actual players scratching their heads as to what they’re talking about.
This isn’t a nerf, this is a fix. Deceptive Evasion is useless when you run a phantasm build. Whenever you have 3 phantasms up and you have this trait, you would be unable to dodge. Because it would destroy your powerful phantasm and destroy your damage output in the process.
Have you ever considered that a simple fix that it wouldn’t override phantasms would have also fixed this? Heck, if they did that and did the same for the scepter, it would solve several problems.
I fear I’m going to do all that trouble to kill someone, just to end up with them running away or just stealth, wait a few moments and port because I don’t use a focus offhand.
It’s really off putting. People don’t even try nomore, they got this idea in their mind, ohh mesmer, no use trying, let’s run. Like THAT is going to teach you how to fight them. Heck, how am I supposed to practice?
The problem is, people don’t want to understand the class. They want to play their own class, and know which buttons to press to win.

Either use Kai’s way or at later levels the cripple bomb. Either work pretty fine. Although if you do a lot of dungeons, I’d recommend kai’s.
I’d be surprised if anyone disagrees, other than maybe GW1 veterans who don’t like what’s become of the class.
As 1, I agree, Mesmers in GW2 aren’t what they were in GW1. But then again, I just treat this class as a different class with the same name. I like both designs.
It’s also why I’m not playing necro, the GW2 necro just isn’t as fun as the GW1 necro and it just keeps bugging me.
Tbh, Hood of Grenth should always be reserved for a necromancer. It just doesn’t fit the mesmer theme of light colours and illusions. (and butterflies).
Tried it now for a several dungeons (vuln variant), (using mostly SW/SW and Staff) and the build is a lot of fun to play if you get bored of the old style and like me, you just love the visuals of the staff.
And while both the boon stacking or vuln are very good and easy to apply, I keep having to deal with issues like: No more reflect on focus, my own damage is dependant on shattering illusions, whom tend to die pretty rapidly in PvE situations. And my big damage dealing on demand (which normally isn’t that needed since you buff 4 partymembers) is kind of lost if you get into a sticky situation where your members are down.
Not to mention that all the dodging and displacement (staff 2) make it a pain to use in dungeons where people want you to stack. I try to use scepter/situational offhand instead on those places, but I never really have that feeling like this is a good idea
And of course the biggest problem: condition immune targets, there aren’t a lot of them, but if you have to deal with them (gates, turrets, ect) no matter which weapon I switch to, without all the phantasm buffs, I don’t really feel I can deal enough damage.
But besides all that, this is a very solid build with exceptions on those few spots in dungeons where you wish you could dual-trait. XD
It might be nice in PvE, but I don’t see it working that well in PvP or WvWvW for the simple reason that clones die way too fast or are used for other means other than letting them stay up to deal damage.
Also since the passive doesn’t heal out of combat, I don’t think it’s that useful if you’re between fights.
however, would all the when you’re healed traits be activated whenever it ticks every 3 seconds?
Well, the torch always strikes me as a magician’s tool to create the illusion when used by the mesmer, why not let the mage make a few bleed stacks the owner of the mage applied on the target disappear and converted to instant dealt damage or changed into torment stacks (dealing the damage the bleed stack would have done)? But that would probably be OP XD
