So we didn’t beat the 1337pro esport heroes in viewers, but for a bunch of casuals killtrading in pve gear behind the windmill, I don’t think we did too badly.

On a more serious note…
Massive thank you to GD for these fights. Honestly, having the possibility to fight you guys/VII/VoTF is the only reason i’ve kept playing this game for the last few months. Not sure what i’ll do now.
Regardless of result, these kind of fights are incredible to be involved in. I was actually elated when I saw we got Elona in the matchup this week, I guess someone at Anet was looking out for us. If I don’t do anything else competitive in GW2, i’m glad I got to fight you guys before the end. From a melee player POV, its an honour to go against the GD melee train. Best melee train EU by a long way.

Just wanted to say again, massive props to VII, I’ve never felt like every push could be the one where I get gibbed quite like I did in these fights. I really hope we do this again soon

I doubt many guilds would be ready to do that besides VoTF and Scnd.

No doubt it was a massive risk coming to a national server with an international guild, and we lost some very good players due to it. Personally though, it’s the best decision I think we ever made. I never want to go back to an international server for as long as I play GW2

Where is GvG and when can we have it?
GvG is something we realise the community wants. Right now there’s no real way to persistently keep track of a team in PvP and assert their dominance. We’d rather spend a good deal amount of time making it awesome than just push it out because the community wants it asap.

An Eternal JP GvG is going to be a hammer warrior’s worst nightmare but compromises have to be made if orbs are going to ruin the current state of GvG.

This (maybe selfishly) is my biggest problem with anything without flat ground. Even the current area can be a nightmare towards the edges for warriors.

Correct me if i’m wrong, as I haven’t ventured over there in quite some time. But isn’t there an a crap load of PvE mobs in that area? Is there actually a decent open space that isn’t A) full of mobs? full of trees?

The 9/3 build has essentially no WvW updates because we’ve been focusing on completing the content that Hugh previewed in the Live stream. That content is very close to coming out, it was not ready for this upcoming build, but it will be shortly thereafter. I’ve refrained from making large content delivery promises because we know that we don’t have those incoming in the next build. There are some very large changes to WvW in bound, but as with everything, see the memes of me, I pretty much only ever say soon or as soon as possible.

Now you have a forum to literally make your own since no one else has used it and GvG is by definition a community emergent gameplay. :P

If I can make a suggestion, can we make 10vs/15vs/20vs threads for match-ups?

Seeing as they are all technically “in-game events” we could have individual threads for each GvG if we really wanted. Maybe a cumulative thread for GvG videos?

Had a thought about this recently but forgot about it. I think it would be cool to have some sort of “Guild of the Week” for the GvGing guilds on the gw2gvg.com website in the same vein as the GotW from GW1. Maybe longer than a week, since it would take a fair amount of work. It would be cool to learn a bit more about guilds and the people in them, how they run, and so on. I’m especially interested in guilds in the lower NA tiers that I never see and a lot of EU guilds that I never will see. Am I the only one that thinks so?

A guild spotlight kinda thing would be awesome for GvG showdown, or for gw2gvg. Maybe interviews with members etc. Would be great for the well known guilds as well as some upcoming guilds.

In the best interests of all involved, we have decided to move the GvG organizational thread over to the In-game events subforum instead of its usual home in the WvW discussion forum. The impetus for this change is primarily due to the ongoing, negative conflict between the WvW and GvG communities. We feel the hostility between these two groups detracts from both the GvG thread and WvW topics and requires a disproportionate amount of moderator attention.

The In-game Events subforum will be a good fit for the GvG organization thread, as it is an ongoing, player-organized in-game activity and therefore fits well into the intended purpose of that forum. For other related discussion of GvG that does not fall under the general organization thread, please use the Guild Wars 2 Discussion subforum.

Between the showdown thread, this, and orbageddon, I think we have Anets stance pretty firmly identified here.

Oh and Mark. Does that mean all the anti thief/perplexity/etc threads are going to be moved too? They aren’t discussion about WvW either… I won’t hold my breath.

Yeah, we moved to Riverside to try and tick some fights off our list before ORBAGEDDON.
We’ve had a couple of unlucky rolls in the matchups last two weeks in terms of GvG’s. We were holding out for a BB/ER/Piken matchup, but alas, D-Von Karver and his matchup mashups haven’t worked in our favour. Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands.

Rumour has it there’s some crazy big GvG’s towards the mid-end of this week. Some people are even calling it Super Week.

Something with the JP that needs to be considered, is how “out of the way” it is. The further the better. Part of what makes the windmill good, is that you wont get stumbled upon by somebody trying to get to the camp etc

No I am counting each “GvG” team their guild might have 500 people but only 20 “gvg” it is after all the avg team size.

So… you’re counting the WHOLE playerbase to support your argument, but only counting 20 players in each guild?
Please, please elaborate and tell me how that makes sense, when saying GvG guilds are <1% of the playerbase, when you don’t count the members in those guilds?
