Sager now has dual GPU laptop. How will dual 670m fair vs a single 680m/7970m gpu considering both cpus are the same.
hmm interesting PassMark chart shows the gtx580m way better than 660m even the 670mx, hopefully its a typo
For WvW you would want a good CPU, 2nd gen or higher intel core i5/i7. This should be your first priority before getting a GPU upgrade. Large scale battles in WvW rely very heavily on CPU power.
Get the best CPU on this list you can afford

(2500k, 3570k are popular ones. Get K version to overclock)For GPU get something with score higher than 3k on this list.

! thanks for the link this is pretty much what I’ve been look for. Btw, if I were aiming for 3k on the GPU where does this put the gw2 settings on?
I’m planning to get a i7-2.7ghz just cant decide if 660m will be good enough to get it to high/ultra settings with no shadows. It seems the highest that light laptops can carry is a 660m. Hopefully everyone else will catch up to the ultra thin imac with a 675mx
interesting, someone on the forum posted that about 90% of the game processes through hdd and utilizes only about 9% of the cpu.
Yet someone says its CPU > GPU > HDD.
I’m confused. I plan on getting a MSI GE60 OND with a 2.4ghz processor.
I’m hoping to run it with ultra settings if possible so if SSD is needed I’d get it with the laptop.
I’ve been reading on the benchmarks, forum posts about how 650M is doing with GW2 and everyone seems to say that you can run GW2 atmost at medium settings. But I had a friend who recently bought a laptop with a 650M and he says in tournaments he can run everything on ultra(native). The only thing he changed on his laptop is the HDD. He got a SSD instead of the regular 7200rpm hdd.
Here’s his laptop: MSI Laptop
Does it really make a huge difference?
I wonder how much of the settings can be on high/ultra if you were going for WvWvW type of gaming.
I plan to buy a laptop with a i7 2.4ghz(to 3.4 ghz) with a 660M 2gig graphics card and a 16gig ram.
I have a friend who used to play GW2 with a 650M in ultra settings for Tournaments. He never got to test it on WvWvW though.
Deejay maybe you guys can add the timezone too, those on the oceanic zone need more help on getting teams to queue, with the timezone we can atleast ask the teams if they wish to queue.
that’s sounds like a good idea.
Where did the teams go? Noone has been in paid tourneys around this timezone a few days after release.
Warr/Guardian here let me know if you need one more.
Bootcamp Video Card update for MBP 2011 (ATI)
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Xandman.4583
I updated my video card drivers prior to gw2 launch, it was working very well on other games, when I played gw2 had FPS issues. I had to revert to the apple drivers.
Now I updated my driver again, and there was no performance improvement so for those who are just using apple drivers, it makes no difference to update it with the AMD drivers. I have the 12.11 beta driver.
Anyone else want to post their laptop performances? I’m sure a lot are curious with other brand performances in guild wars 2.

Did anyone update their video card driver in bootcamp or are you guys just using the driver that came with bootcamp (windows support drivers).
I tried having my video card drivers updated back when game just launched and the results were horrible. I wonder if this has changed, I’d like to assume newer drivers are better than old ones.
Hi guys, not sure if this should be here or in tech support.
I’m curious how everyone elses laptop is doing with guild wars 2.
Using Early MBP 2011
ATI 6750M 1gig
at 20-30 FPS in low settings
which problem the sensitivity sudden increase mid game or the spinning?
Thanks! tried it last night, it has a strong burst with scholar.
your GS one, I’m already using your hammer spec
more stable for me just curious what your GS is.
Current Paid tPvP meta is either Bunker or Burst. Need to fill that role on a team otherwise you won’t move very far.
Once things shift to more balanced builds then I’ll be moving back to my baby (hammer).
I don’t like it, but I want to stay competitive.
Any chance you could show us your build?
Every warrior weapon except shield.
Even one handers have a 180 degree aoe.
Why did you switch to GS? I noticed in your last few recordings you were already using the GS.
My problem is not mouse camera rotating very fast. It’s more like the sensitivity is sometimes off. I play a lot of pvp and sometimes, not even from disconnects, in the middle of the game the movement moves faster than intended. Mac beta is still unplayable for pvp imo. But in bootcamp I dont experience any problems what so ever. Am I do only one experiencing this? resetted pram/uninstalle razer drivers. just playing on mountain lion.
Please fix it. It has been bugged for 2 days now. Hasn’t been any event on both camps.
I’m not sure yet but so after 3 rounds of karma farming in CS i have not gotten a rare item usually I get one or two in 1 round. Could be related? This started after the last patch too.
just tried the mac client again. still seems like there’s a mouse problem or maybe its not working correctly with a razer mouse? Sometime the sensitivity shoots up I think that’s cause the random spins.
update:
disabled my naga and config, movement still seems a bit rough. If you are used to playing on bootcamp you will notice the movement issue.
rendering seems slower too. takes a few seconds before you see mobs with lots of people around.

has the random spinning been resolved already? I’m curious if its worth it to update mac client again. That mouse bug makes pvp difficult.
If you change the skin of your legendary do you still retain the effects of the legendary?
Initially, it may seem Asura is harder to target, hard to read but eventually you’ll get used to it. The only thing about being a Norn is you become the most visible person on the field.
The Colossus, its a legendary base hammer.
Why won’t they let you preview on BLTP
Character continues to run after I stop controlling her.

I really hope they resolve this. I’d like to switch to the mac client already
Can you guys confirm that after resetting SMC, fps is high but then after awhile it goes down to 30fps?

This happened to me too. I stopped using the beta client right after. Hard to do pvp when this is happening.
I tried the mac client. It’s still buggy for me. Mouse randomly spins and keyboard sometimes response is sometimes delayed.
got a partial solution which is to revert to apple drivers instead of the ATI updated drivers.
Still hoping to race it to 60 fps
I can confirm that by using Apple drivers instead of using ATI’s driver from their site or the Beta drivers (recommended by other sites) does a noticeable increase in fps especially in WvWvW. I don’t know why as it doesn’t make any sense newer drivers should be better but for this game its not.
To update all you early 15" MBP users..
I played on the Mac client with lowest settings and I got around 15-25 fps in all areas
I took Xandman’s advice and installed boot camp; the difference is night and day
On a combo of low/med settings I am constantly getting 56-60fps .
V-sync enabled seems to keep it at 60 about 99% of the time.
This was tested in populated areas but no large scale WvW yetMy system specs are listed in my OP,
Early MBP bootcamp is a must.
Did you change your graphics driver? Or just used the Apple drivers that came with bootcamp?
i7 2.2ghz
16gb ram
Radeon HD 6750M with 1 GB (dated: 7/27/2012)
Game Graphics settings:
Low on All or None if option is available
Native (also tried Subsample)
Exploring the Map is okay, I get 30-40fps but on clashes with the other servers it drops to 1-10 FPS making it nearly impossible to play comfortably.
Anyone had any success on WvWvW using a laptop?
We wiped a few times on the giant mid boss but other bosses were easy. The walk is just very long…so many turns…
So far done path 3 and 2… and 2 is such a looooooooooong walk. It took us more than 4 hours to clear. And I thought GW2 wasnt going to be like WoW raids. Worse it doesnt allow you to continue when you leave. No breaks!
skipping pve for now, 3hours in COF path1 no luck, 3hours in arah no luck either. I thought gw2 wasn’t going to be like wow where you need to be in a dungeon for more than 3 hours just to complete it. 20 tokens just isn’t worth 3hours.
i’m curious if you checked the fps on a low pop area or was this done on wvwvw or spvp? we have the same spec yet mines not really playable at highest settings. can you take a screenshot of your fps with you in action?
I have the higher model (early 2011 mbp) ATI 6750 1gb with 16gb ram. The FPS is decent somewhere around 15-20 but drops to 10 or less in Wvwvw or 5v5 clashes. You get a smoother game play in Bootcamp atm with 2011. Hopefully Anet will update their mac client.
I randomly spin. It turns 360 once in a while, can’t seem to figure out what is triggering it. But right now it’s not playable in pvp.
MBP 15" Early 2011 here. ATI Radeon 6750M 1024mb with 16gig RAM, at lowest possible settings (subsample) I get the same performance as on Bootcamp. At Native settings, I get about 10-18fps. Tried max settings like the other ATIs and I get 5-10fps. Hope it improves soon, I’m tired of having to boot in Windows.
