Same here, and it’s been a whole week and cat is still missing. I submitted a support ticket last Wednesday but haven’t heard anything for a week. But I read there are so many bugs that you shouldn’t expect a response until after it has been 7 days.

The Tyrian Old Guard [TOG] (a guild under The Older Gamers organization) is a large and active community of players over the age of 25. TOG is a casual guild due to both our ages and circumstances. Our twitch skills, reflexes, speed of thought, or memory retention may have faded. Or our jobs, families, and responsibilities may limit our practice and dedication. But as a mature community the results are less stressful, more enjoyable, and competition is not allowed to escalate beyond friendly ribbing. TOG is an international community with the largest concentration of our players in the North American, Australian, and European time zones, with the vast majority of our membership on the Yak’s Bend server. TOG organizes multiple Guild Mission events each week and provides a TeamSpeak server for cooperative play, competitive play, and socializing. We also have an active guild forum where members can share builds, plan events, seek assistance, and optimize their GW2 experience.

You do not have to represent TOG exclusively. However, you are expected to represent the TOG ethos and integrity standards even when under a different guild tag, and even in other games. In order to get full event rewards and to facilitate communications and organization, we do ask you represent TOG during Guild Missions. Absentee members (currently defined as a month of inactivity) are periodically removed so that we don’t exceed capacity, but you can reapply when you return to the game.

You can reach me in game, and if I’m not locked in a life-and-death struggle in WvW or Fractals, I’ll try to answer any questions. You can also reach out to one of our many guild officers who cover the various time zones. We look forward to seeing you in game!

Mouse Freezes Up

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Xangxa.6428

Xangxa.6428

For about the past few months, my mouse will freeze while playing Guild Wars 2.

1. It only happens when GW2 is running
2. It happens for different mice brands and models
3. It happens regardless of USB ports, including keyboard pass-thru
4. It is often followed by the USB alert sound of a device being un-plugged/plugged-in
5. The mouse will go completely dark or sometimes blinks on & off
6. Certain movement keys (Q, E, and W) also stop working during the freeze
7. The same keys will continue to work only in the chat input
8. Other USB devices appear to be unaffected (e.g., microphone)

That doesn’t say – already read that. It only assigns times to sale and PAX events.

What time does the Double XP weekend start, in UTC or PDT? And end? I didn’t know if it coincided exactly with the sale or not.

Contradictory Playstyle in Living Story

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Xangxa.6428

I had an extremely frustrating experience in the final chapter of “The Dragon’s Reach: Part 2” due to the design having contradictory playstyle components. You cannot simultaneously solo and team play the content, but it’s designed so either playstyle chosen is frustrated. This has not been limited to just this episode, but came to a head when I actually considered rage quitting the franchise after 2,600 hours of game time.

In order to enjoy the richness and full extent of the material requires real life luck equivalent to a daily precursor drop. I.e., you need a team that’s always available, patient enough to listen to all dialog, explore every corner, read every document, and push every combination of button. They must have perfect TeamSpeak etiquette so they don’t talk over the dialog or engage in immersion-breaking talk.

Consequently, I prefer to experience the content solo so I can enjoy the material fully and at my own pace. But the end-fights have grown to such insane difficulty, that it’s no longer enjoyable. Having expert content for expert players is understandable (e.g., the skill and dedication to grind out Mawdrey II). But Living Story is mainstream content and should be approachable and enjoyable by mainstream players without contradictory playstyle requirements.

One possible solution is to break apart the exploratory aspects of the content from the combat content. “The World Summit” chapter, for example would be broken into three pieces: solo the preface, full team the battle, and solo the denouement.

Feedback/Questions: MegaServer

I’m not enjoying Scaling / MS interaction. Guild puzzles, bounties, challenges, etc. are a pain because we get put into different instances and the algorithm that promised to put you with friends and guild mates actually made things worse. Triple Trouble and Teq require high participation and coordination, but MS makes it a total pain as you click “JOIN IN” on a guild mate’s party icon for an HOUR before the event trying to get into the same instance. There are multiple ways this could be fixed: raise the map cap so everyone needed can get in addition to others already on the map, allow guilds to create their own instances (ala GW1 districts), scale down the event so guilds can spread membership across instances better or fix the dynamic scaling so it can be done with smaller groups. On a related note, I’ve also been the victim of not getting credit in a fight that ended so quickly the mob animations don’t even have a chance to fall down, so scaling is broken in both extremes.

Yep, and also with ALL non-MS services and all startup programs disabled, and running just GW2. It makes me nervous to turn off anti-virus and security programs, but I just make sure to never do anything but run GW2 in that mode, and reboot/restore them before doing anything else. This is a dedicated gaming tower, so there’s not much else installed on here but TeamSpeak.

Game Updates: World Boss Synchronization

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Xangxa.6428

Related to Mega-Server I’m seeing an increased frequency in client crashes during World Boss fights (I don’t have crashes any other times). This is especially true for high-value targets and specifically the Karka Queen. An immediate re-login puts you into a map where the event has completed. Due to the infrequency of this event, it means you lose out completely, and there’s an even chance you’ll suffer the same disaster tomorrow. From map chat of other players also entering the map, the problem isn’t isolated and this is extremely aggravating.

(To add insult to injury, the new map I was on had the harvesting nodes as already “done” even though I hadn’t, so I didn’t even get the consolation prize of T6 mats.)

Unable to get free items from gem store

in Black Lion Trading Co

I have the same issue. I saw the post dated the 29th and checked the Gem store a few hours later but it was NOT in the Promotions tab. I thought it might appear after the daily reset and checked again, but it still was not there. I re-logged in to see if it would help and still no free key on the promotions tab. I clicked it anyway to see if the display was wrong and got prompted to buy the key. I tried looking in the other tabs and using search but no free key available via this method either. This happened on the last free item too (Magic Booster). Disappointed.

Game Updates: Wardrobe, Transmutation, Outfits

I cannot find my “Celebration Hat” (baseball cap for launch) even after logging into every one of my toons, checking their backpacks for tonics, checking the wardrobe for unlocks, and after visiting the Black Lion Armor merchant to trigger conversions. The wiki says it is a consumable but isn’t specific. I’ve looked through my bank and bags and cannot find it.

1. Where should it be located? (Wardrobe vault, bags, bank, etc.?)
2. What form does it take now? (tonic, headgear, etc.?)
3. Does it still have the name “Celebration Hat?”

I cannot find a tonic, or see in my wardrobe, for the baseball cap. I’ve logged into all my characters and looked in their bags, visited the Black Lion Armor vendor to trigger conversions, and looked in my wardrobe vault, but still can’t find it. What did it get converted to and where should I be able to find it?

The issue I have is with the thumbnail pictures of party members, that appear on the left edge in the upper part of the screen. One or more of the party images will strobe on and off rapidly. This blinking or flashing behavior is only for that square vignette of their character and does not happen when they are in a different zone or overflow (i.e., the default silhouette doesn’t strobe). The problem appeared within the past week. I have checked and have the latest drivers (MAR 10th) for my NVIDIA GTX 770’s (2 in SLI).
