I also hate him, and would often yell at him in game to make myself feel better.
But great news! It looks like they moved him, and I entirely approve this change.
Also some construction projects appear to be afoot!
Worked the sixth time too. Maybe I was just a victim of circumstance.
Trip number 5 was a success.
I’ve been trying to farm SAB World 1 Tribulation Mode all day and thusfar, of the four times I’ve defeated King Toad, I’ve managed to transition to the cart one time. That’s three times the counter counts down to zero, there is a hang, and then I’m booted back to the character select screen. That’s three King Toad Z-3 coins that I have earned but not be awarded. Please fix this.
I’m not having disconnections anywhere else and I’m making it through Zone 1 and 2 of World 1 with no issues.

Not updating their site first is still one of their weirder PR choices.
This event is a snoozefest, but I wouldn’t go as far as say it’s the worst PVE content ever. It’s not even close to the buggiest.
still not get any reward for doing yesterday event

- Rewards, if not received immediately, will be distributed to those who earned them in the next several days.

Oh so vague with those timeframes, but she also said the shop will stick around for a while so you shouldn’t miss out on anything because of it.

Same day. Good for you Anet.
Please re-read my initial post as well as the billion questions people have asked on this Xeno. People don’t care if they give us THE ACTUAL NUMBER, they want to know if 5 was the INTENDED number. Those things are drastically drastically different. One is asking ‘is this a bug’ and the other is wanting specifics that Anet hsa never given out.
Asking if something is a bug in an event FILLED with bugs is not a bad thing.
I get your point. I promise I do. I’m telling you THAT information, the specific vague information you are requesting is NOT something Anet gives out. They just don’t. They’ll tell you there is a bug. They’ll let you guess what the bug is. They will never tell you.
And I keep saying there is nothing wrong with asking. I’m just saying you won’t get a response. How many times do I need to clarify my position?
(edited by Xeno Mezphy.3145)
How could the information be wrong? They had to design and plan this release. They know what the intended number was. If they don’t, who the hell would?
The information ALREADY EXISTED. It is not new. It had to be in the game for rewards to function AT ALL.
Yes, they know what the intended number WAS. What if that number changes?
The fact they refuse to divulge absolutely ANY info on the number of blooms one should get is beyond alarming. They do not have to give numbers, they do not have to give algorithms, they don’t have to do ANYTHING aside from say ‘5 is not the intended number’. But they HAVE NOT commented on it repeatedly throughout the day, and in fact directly avoided it. Gaile has been asked here and on reddit repeatedly, and I’m fairly certain the question has been relayed.
So why then is it being ignored?
It’s really simple. They don’t want to give you the wrong information and the nature of video games means that information could change on the backend at any time. Being wrong is, from a business perspective, way worse than just withholding information. I mean, I’m not saying I don’t agree with you. I’m just giving any perspective I can offer. I really don’t know anything about why they hate keeping us informed. I can only use evidence from previous interactions.
But we can usually work out how much we’ll need to farm, or if it’s worth it, based on what rewards we get as we do the event. That’s not working out so well today, which is why it would behoove them to change this policy, if only this once.
Do I expect them to? Not really, no. But they really, really should.
Well, yeah, but when stuff is broken is the only time we ask. They never tell us. I can come up with decent excuses as to why this is the case though. I have to, of course, because explaining themselves is another thing they never do. But like I said, I’m not telling people not to ask. Who knows? Maybe this time it’ll work.
(edited by Xeno Mezphy.3145)
The precise numbers are crucial in this case since the events are scheduled for a limited time frame. We need them to be able to roughly kitten our progress towards are own individual goals.
Anet doesn’t do precise numbers on rewards. You’re not going to get that information. I’m not going to tell you to stop trying, but if the entire history of this game is any precedent, they’re not going to give you numbers. I’m seeing a lot of questions for this and I worry that people think they’re actually going to get a reply.
We can’t expect ANet to keep us up to date can we? They obviously are understaffed
They don’t like to post without new information and they won’t have new information until the devs give it and the devs won’t give it until they’ve fixed the bug or it gets worse.
So I guess Anet wants us to post the bug reports in here and then they’re posting updates (aka the same info slightly reworded) over here. From that I infer that we’re not gonna get any more red replies in this thread so we should probably stop asking.
I was just trying to give some examples of what could be wrong, and how they could do something, so maybe people would worry >as much< and just enjoy the game. I could be wrong. I also could be wrong about the hostility I am getting from you. Though that could just be how I read it, but that last really came off that way to me, though I could be reading into it too much. I don’t know. . . We are both in the dark, I just tried to light a match, that’s all. I didn’t want to start a flame war or a debate. I am not feeling well, I think I caught a cold from my brothers kids. So the only thing I want to do now is sleep. . .I can barely think straight. . .So I may not reply until later if a reply is warranted.
[Asking in a friendly manner, to see if we share any common interests.] Do you code at all? Linux user? I code and have two Linux rigs, nothing special. My Laptop runs Debian, and my old desktop runs Gentoo at the moment. I need to boot that thing up, it’s been a while. Though I have been meaning to visit some of the other distros I have worked with to see how much they have changed. I have been thinking about starting a guild of coders, or Linux users. if I do, it would be fun to run dungeons and talk shop. Talk shop? . . .I need a nap.
If I’m expressing any hostility, it’s simply a byproduct of my frustration with the regularity of this issue. This is something that really truly does happen with 90% of the new world events they put out. My 2 day fix estimate is based on previous experience. I am frustrated that Anet can’t manage to stress test a single one of their open world events. This is about this event though, and not about Anet’s event fixing track record, so I’ll just leave it there. I sincerely didn’t mean to come off as hostile, I’m just super frustrated with this event and Anet’s tendency to soft PR with vague info instead of just being direct. Buzzwords just bounce off my head and give me a headache. We’ll probably get our rewards, but Anet has made sure to be just vague enough that if it doesn’t happen they’re still not exactly wrong.
Also, I don’t really want to give any new people the wrong message. While this does happen basically constantly, they do always fix it (if they say they’re going to). I’ve been playing this game for years and already bought HoT. I expect it to launch as a buggy mess and be fully playable within a week. The expansion will stick around though. This will be gone in 5 days.
I’ve never really delved into Linux, mostly because I hate being wrong and will be wrong for a while. Plus my toaster basically works. I’ve done quite a bit of coding in the past but nothing recent enough to be useful and certainly very little coding with a point. All the languages I know are dumb. I shouldn’t put my eggs into baskets full of holes, I guess. And, again, sorry for any misdirected hostility. I’m probably firing broad shots all over and I guess there are bound to be civilian casualties.
And just one more time for the new people, Anet really does get around to fixing these things. This is a good game and you should play it.
(edited by Xeno Mezphy.3145)
uhh.. their punctuation and wording kinda makes it hard to understand, so for those who earned the constant 5 blooms will get more as well ?
And that is why I tend to be so frustrated with Anet’s PR style. I’ve got no more info to offer than they themselves offer.
So, are we sure that we are going to get every blossom we should have if the events would have worked properly? Opposed to get a generic reward to everyone that have participated.
Because this is the difference between keep playing the events or stop wasting my time on then.
Mordrem Invasion Update:
…
- Those who earned rewards and did not receive them will be given their rewards. This could take several days, so please allow time for this to happen.
…
So, certain? No. Supposedly? Yeah. In fairness, I am a horrible cynical skeptic.
(edited by Xeno Mezphy.3145)
Just completed the Brisbane Wildlands invasion, zero rewards received. Many players in map chat complaining of same issue, bug submitted, etc.
Will rewards be retroactively given out once the issue is fixed?
That is the claim. Check the red posts. (Not when the issue is fixed, but eventually)
…
Oh and how do they keep track? Same way they keep track of the daily event completion daily, the code tracks how many events you completed on a certain map, as well as the type of event, maybe. . .
Yeah, and there is a bug in the code for this event. That bug is preventing people from getting their rewards. How can you possibly assure me that the bug that is preventing me from getting rewards will not prevent Anet from proving that I was present to receive those rewards?
I get daily event rewards. I’m not getting these. There is a problem somewhere and I have no reason to believe it is after the “mission accomplished” trigger but before the “reward output” trigger. And you definitely lack the frame of reference to assure me otherwise, as you yourself pointed out.
(edited by Xeno Mezphy.3145)
Anet will never tell you the intended awards of anything. They never have and they never will. It’s probably just a safety net for them in case there is another bug and is actually one of the more reasonable PR decisions they’ve made. Their unwillingness to explain their lack of response (in most cases) is one of the least reasonable choices they’ve made. They really will just let us make up our own conclusions all day.
It has historically taken Anet an average of 2 days to completely fix every rolled out open world event in GW2, especially bugs of this type (Remember the living story missions?). This event only lasts 5 days. I don’t know how long I’ll want to do this event on credit though, especially when I, quite frankly, don’t trust the bank to keep an accurate tab of my earnings. I mean, honestly, if there is a bug and that bug is preventing us from getting rewards but no one knows why the bug exists, how can you actually say with any certainty that we’re going to receive credit for our actions? I guess “aware of the issue” and “working on a fix” technically mean that someone knows what is going on, but they’re also buzzwords that I’ve heard a million times and have not always meant what those words actually mean.
I just don’t know that Anet can be trusted to fix this event quickly enough to justify participation. If this is fixed in the next couple of hours then I guess I have nothing to worry about, I just find it hard to believe that it will be. At least the living world stuff was around for two weeks.

Looks like I miss out on fun because I don’t need to subscribe to the newsletter because I actually just play the game and the exact same information is presented there. And then I watch Points of Interest. And then I see the same info again in my Facebook feed.
Why do you even have an E-mail newsletter?

I think you guys got it all wrong. The USD50 is to get back the money they spend making Drytop and Silverwaste.
So, it would make sense if they charge extra of USD10-20 for those 2 maps. And the 30-40USD is the price of the expansion plus the core.I thought that’s what mail carriers were for.
Yeah, those were part of the trickle of content paid for by the gemstore. Just like everything we’ll see after HoT’s release, up till the next paid expansion.
I was just being snarky. I don’t have any issue with the gemstore as a concept, unlike many I’ve seen about. I mostly just take issue with Anet devaluing my already inherently valueless time.

Kudos for the source, though that does claim it’s per 12 months, so that’s more like $12 per user since launch (assuming constant numbers over the timeframe). I’m probably close to the $100 mark in total, but I wasn’t buying an additional character because I’ve never played an MMO before (with limited character slots) that didn’t give you a slot when a new class comes out. I’m sure it’s happened, but that doesn’t really make it terribly reasonable. It’s like a parking garage asking me to pay them to drive my new car into the lot and then once I’m inside making me pay for a parking spot.
It’s a bit of an stretch for an analogy but I can understand. I want to point out something however. Like you I am also probably over $100 as well put into this game, all of it in the hopes of funding a very good game that makes nearly all of its content free (Again, I’ll say that the Season 2 unlocks with Gems are a fee, but that’s content us veterans got as a perk for staying since the beginning and logging in). So when GW2 has given myself and many others thousands of hours of entertainment and fun, I can personally look at $50 for an expansion as nothing more than a minor thing, a character slot even less than minor, its trivial.
Yeah, I’m playing the analogy game a little fast and loose, but I really can’t think of anything that is the same as offering content that you can’t use without a further investment. “Batteries Not Included” has been mentioned and is probably the best available.
It’s not about the character slot. It’s about content being offered and then the expectation that I will either invest additional time or money to access that content or un-invest some previously spent time and money. I’m fine with investing money to access content, but I’ll only do it once. If I’m paying for the expansion that comes with a class, I figure I should have access to that class unimpeded. People are claiming it is cost free, and I will make no such claim. Server space costs money. I get that. Buying an expansion costs money too. Why should we respect Anet’s bottom line any more than they seem interested in respecting ours? If they want to give me a gift, give it to me. If they want me to pay for content I already have, then they will not be receiving my money. Claiming that I’m not paying for it doesn’t make it true.
Completely Pointless and Self-Defeating Edit: I would pay them $50 today though if they also mention SAB being open forever. That’s all I’ve ever wanted

Found it, though I thought I read a different article than this one that was more recent but I don’t think the numbers would inflate or deflate by a terribly high amount (March 2014 from March 2013):
https://www.superdataresearch.com/blog/mmo-arpu/
It wasn’t $5 as I thought but $3.88 average per user.

That being said, I am going to stand firm against people who are complaining about the price, attempting to compare it to other games (including GW1) or demanding freebies when clearly all the content between Core and now has been cheap at the very most in cost, given the average player in GW2 might have spent something like $5 (I read this from an article somewhere, it was a comparison between MMOs). I still feel a bit down about the individuals without a case demanding some sort of entitlement for playing the game, and there have been quite a few of those that I have read.
…
You can’t support your points with evidence that you can’t cite. As far as I can tell you made that number up and used it to justify your perception. Anyway, technically your overarching point is correct. Time will fix all of those problems. Entropy is a hell of a drug. Regardless, if you’re going to denigrate people and try to use supporting evidence, at least make sure it exists before you post it.
Unfortunately, everyone is getting screwed on this, bar none. Every single person is now stuck behind some kind of paywall. New players will have to pay for old living story. Old players will have to pay for character slots. The hidden fees system of income generation that has been established is a bummer and will only make people trust Anet less. That, more than anything, is a terrible business move.
(edited by Xeno Mezphy.3145)
I hope OP understand the level of hypocrisy necessary to create this thread. Complaining about complaining doesn’t make you better than people who are complaining.

Excellent work Anet. You’ve alienated your userbase. Classy move. I will be holding on to my money until you realize the terrible decision you’ve made and fix it. If you do not, I will be holding on to my money and playing something else. If you’re cool with not having my money, stay the course. I refuse to pay for something I already own, even if it’s branded as “get the thing you already own for free!”
If this expansion isn’t at least as large in scope as the base game you are knowingly and willingly screwing your customers, unless you believe the base game has a higher value than you assigned it, in which case you are terrible at economics and I can see why you’d make this sort of pricing decision. Regardless, the fault lies with you. Don’t take it out on those who have already invested in you.

Can someone tell me whats the meaning of thie “(edited about 4 hours ago by Moderator)”
It usually means someone reported you, but the mod decided they were being overzealous, assuming nothing was changed in your post. If they changed something, that’s what that means.
I also tried and as soon as I set myself offline I crashed. I logged back in, was still offline, and set myself to online and that fixed it. So, yeah… this is a buggity bug like whoa.
I yell at Moto all the time to turn the box on for me. He just ignores me like I’m not even there.
Also confirmed. I’ve only noticed it since the newest story patch was added. I think the LA port was in before that. To be honest, I’m not sure I tried to jump to BC at any point before this story though.
The new patch did not fix this. (Yeah, low priority, I know, just keeping updated)
The helmsman for the Captain’s Airship is currently redirecting all traffic going to The Black Citadel to Lion’s Arch. Every zone transfer option directs you appropriately except for Black Citadel.
The Royal Terrace does not seem to share this issue.

I pretend my Asura Ranger builds very realistic robot animals. The only drawback is that since I named my boar Cy Boarg, I just can’t bring myself to store him.
I sincerely hope they didn’t remove it. The founding principle of my Asura is that she is a horribly mean person! There are still dialogs in the game which have the personality icons next to them, but I haven’t seen any indication of responses because of the intensity of my personality. Additionally, it seems really strange that they would remove this due to the fact that it’s a character background question (admittedly, I’ve not made a character since the patch. Have they since removed that question? It’s still in my story history).
I’m here to corroborate. I used to do this JP daily, and I just died ten times in a row trying to get in.
I was wondering this exact same thing and lamenting the lost opportunity.
Here I head into LA and am quickly informed by NPCs that there are looters all over the city and that they’re a real problem that needs a solution. Cut to 3 minutes later when a looter runs by me, points at his green name, gestures rudely and then runs off.
It’s like when you ask Laranthir (representative of the Pact) what he knows about the dragons and his response is “Unless they’re stopped, they’ll bring our world to ruin.” Thanks, Laranthir, but that’s not what I asked. It all has a weird vibe of there being unfulfilled ideas all over.
I wanted to punch looters… and steal their loot.

A lil bit off topic but.
1)Yes, the Charr and Norn get along very well.
2)Please, Anet, don’t make Braham fall for Rox. I don’t think I could take the storyline seriously anymore.
I hope Rox is forced to kill Braham and eat him. Or just chooses to do it. Or I’ll do it. Whatever. The only good Braham is a dead Braham!

This isn’t a bug, obviously, but it is something that is unclear when used by moderators and I can’t imagine it isn’t a simple fix.
I got infracted the other day and a post was pulled. That’s perfectly fine. Another couple of posts, however, were “edited by Moderator,” and from what I can tell nothing at all was changed. This creates a false impression and potentially creates a stigma around those posters who were “edited.” I spent several minutes trying to figure out what was changed so I could avoid making the same mistake in the future only to realize my post was fine and in fact technically Moderator approved.
My suggestion is, if a post is reviewed by a moderator and no change is deemed necessary, the post should read “Reviewed by Moderator,” not edited. This lets people that flag feel like someone paid attention and prevents those who are flagged from looking like someone got all up in their business for no reason.
If a mod wants to retitle my thread something more appropriate, have at it.

From what I’ve gathered (having checked exactly dulfy and nowhere else), you need to upgrade to colored before you can infuse.
Either way, it’s done through the mystic forge, so as long as you have the components you should be able to do it until Zomorros decides to escape/leave/die/whatever.
Tbh I’m starting to really not miss Jeremy Soule.
Granted that’s partially due to some of his…….interesting views.
Oh no! What awful things did he do/say? I love his music! Now I am sad.

When you tell Taimi she specifically asks if there was lots of blood and if you saw her guts. She’s not all that torn up about it. In fact, if you talk to her now she’ll tell you that she plans on growing up and killing her herself.
I hope the clapper is less, I dunno, clearly the same take over and over sounding in the in-game fight. Also less obnoxious. It’s like the musical version of the minimized sound bug.

I have the same problem she does. .-. those invincible hicups.
It’s an anxiety thing and as someone with anxiety, I was rather disgusted by them adding this. Because it was treated like nothing more than a joke.
Not really? It’s no different then Tami with her legs, or tybalt with his paw….it makes the characters more real. Not every hero is perfect, some have personal challenges which is what I think anet is trying to portray. I didn’t laugh at the scene, I thought (man points) it was cute. Also had an anxiety disorder.
It was treated like a joke. So awkwardly thrown in and not serious at all. Many of us can not speak when this happens. …How nice you thought it was… ‘cute’… I wonder if my other half thinks it’s cute when I lock up and can’t breathe nor talk… Hmm….
Mine does o.O and it’s not like hiccups are harmful and going to make me suffocate to death. If so I’d be very long overdue for it at least.
Mine does not, they terrify the living hell out of him. They turn into full on panic attacks, I lock up and can not breathe, there have been happenings of where I have blacked out/passed out whathaveyou. I mean, lovely, other people have it less frightening, some find it cute. Great, good on them. But it is wrong for anyone to try and make my opinion on it seem any less important.
I’m not taking issue with your taking issue. I’m taking issue with the logic behind your taking issue. You see something vaguely similar to something you’ve experienced, decided they were joking and became personally offended. None of the NPCs laugh at Kasmeer for hiccuping. The only time it was even MAYBE comic relief is when she was supposed to be invisible (several LS ago), but she had nervous hiccups. Even then, at no point did any of the NPCs even comment on it other than Kasmeer herself (or Marjory going “Shhhh” if you wanna count that).
Why were you disgusted exactly?
