“No, YOUR face is funny. It’s like a little raisin.”
Can anyone else please confirm that karka creatures do not count towards daily kill variety?
I’ve killed 5 of them and they aren’t adding to my counter. They do show up under daily kills, but not the variety. I looked elsewhere to see if anyone else mentioned this bug, but could not find it. My apologies if it’s already been posted.
Thanks!
Main reason: It was love at first sight when I saw them in GW1. I thought to myself, “Wow! I want to play that thing, not this crappy human character!”
Other reasons now that they are playable in GW2: Running on all-fours, always loved playing beast classes in video games, the male charr player character has awesome voice acting, their storyline, their way of life (they think for themselves instead of relying on gods to answer their issues), the industrial revolution they’ve forged, their ferocious war-like attitude and the concept of warbands and legions, etc. – the list goes on and on. What’s not to love?
Does anyone know if you can go back on Acts after they’ve been released? For example, I won’t be here for Act 2, but I might be for Act 3. Can I still do Act 2’s achievements or will they be gone?
Awesome, thanks Kravick! Still welcoming any male charr screenshots if anyone wants to upload some. I doubt it’s much different from the female ones, but never hurts to see.
Thanks for the information! Tasida, would you mind uploading a screenshot, please? It would be awesome to see it. I haven’t been lucky enough to see any charr in-game with the costume yet, otherwise I would just look there.
Hey all,
I searched some threads in here, but couldn’t find it. Does anyone have a screenshot or a video (I checked YouTube, but no dice as of right now) of a charr character riding the broom from the witch outfit in the gem store? I’ve heard that they have a “surfing” animation and I want to know if this is true or not because it’d be a major selling point for me, haha. But I’d also like to see it for myself to decide on whether or not I want the Mad King costume instead.
Not sure if the animations vary between genders, but I’d like to see a male charr if possible. Thanks in advance!
Edit: Clarity.
You get three ToT bags from giving kids in Lion’s Arch 25 pieces of candy corn. You get one if you give them 10 pieces, so it’s always worth it to give them 25 (unless you only need one, obviously.)
They also come from mining candy corn nodes. If you’re having trouble finding them, try WvW, they are very abundant there. They are also easy to find in the starting zones for low level characters, or in Cursed Shore/Malchor’s Leap if you’re a higher level character looking to mine some orichalcum/omnomberry/etc. while you get candy corn.
Hope that helps!
On my male charr engineer, there are times when I’ll get poisoned while running through an area, or run through some lava and get burned a bit, which makes my alchemy trait pop (drink elixir B at 75% health) and makes my charr say, “That feels goooood…” in a really funny voice. It makes my charr seem like a masochist, which is kind of hilarious.
I’ve also had times where I use elixir B for the speed buff and I get the speed buff calls for other races and sometimes other genders, such as a human female, “I can outrun a centaur!” – I always look around and there’s no one near me when this happens, so I think it’s me.
I think my charr just has a multiple personality disorder and likes to be tortured by poison and lava.
Bought the CE for $150 ($161 after taxes) – definitely worth it. I continue to enjoy this game as much as I did when I played beta weekend #1. The bonuses that came with CE are nice, but the game itself has been worth the $150 to me so far, and it’s only been out for a little under two months. I also really enjoy Rytlock on my desk; he is very inspiring to look at, not to mention a great conversation piece when guests are over.
This has happened to me many times when people were frustrated and left.
It’s not the party leader who dictates the instance of the dungeon, but the first person who walked into the dungeon and started the instance. Even if you’re a party leader, if someone else starts the dungeon and you all join his/her instance, you will all be kicked out if he/she leaves, even if you were the party leader. It has caused a lot of frustration when I make parties and someone else walks into the dungeon before me, then they rage quit on the final boss.
I hope ArenaNet implements a way to stop this from happening. Maybe if the instance leader leaves, everyone in the party gets a prompt to ask if they want to keep going without the leader. But I don’t think it’s that easy. Cutscenes are based off the instance leader, not the party leader, so they’d have to somehow find a way to bump up the next person to be in the cutscene.
I’m sure they’ll think of something.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, my fellow engineers. I’ve read through these and will definitely consider what was mentioned. Thank you!
Edit: This has been answered, but feel free to read and reply if you’d like. More information is always helpful and appreciated. Thank you!
Hey all,
A bit of backstory:
I’m currently running this build: http://www.gw2build.com/builds/pve-all-condition-double-pistol-grenade-5224.html
I use rifle/grenades when exploring/doing hearts/general solo PvE. I use dual pistols/grenades in dungeons and WvW.
My gameplay is mostly PvE, with a splash of WvW mixed in. I don’t do any sPvP.
I’m looking into buying some dungeon armor. I’ve ran many dungeons and I’m excited to go ahead and pick some out with all my newly acquired tokens. But before I go to the vendors, I would like to get some advice.
Precision, power, and condition damage are the top three things I’ve been told to look at. Okay, yes, more damage is always nice. However, I’m pretty squishy as it is right now. Mostly in dungeons, though, if that tells you anything. I don’t die too often in in PvE exploring/hearts/etc and I can mostly handle my own when I enter into a 1v1 scenario in WvW.
Right now I’m sporting all masterwork armor and I’m really looking forward to this upgrade. Some of my gear has +vitality on it, and I’m afraid if I go all power/precision/condition damage on every piece of dungeon armor, I’m going to be useless to hold my own in a dungeon.
I guess my main question is: With my playstyle, build, and current armor, what do you guys recommend? Buy a few pieces of armor with +vitality and the rest power/precision/condition damage? (That was my original thought., but I wanted to hear a second opinion.)
Or maybe something different, such as switching my build up, changing my pistols to a rifle in dungeons, grabbing some +toughness instead of +vitality, or something else completely different?
Thanks for taking time to read and thanks in advance for any advice offered. It is much appreciated!

I started playing during beta weekend #1 and have not stopped enjoying the game at all since then. I’m not sure how many people feel the same way I do (by reading the forums during beta and even now, I don’t see many that do), but I will say that I’ve been taking the game very slow and at my own pace. I don’t know if people are burning out because they’re rushing through or they just genuinely don’t like the content available.
I play a few hours a day and I still crave more time. Even on weekends when I’m off work, I still want a bit more time. I mix things up; one night I’ll do a couple dungeons and exploring, the next night will be WvW and exploring, the next will be hearts/personal story and exploring. Did I mention I love to explore?
There’s a lot of things in this game that I really like. I’ve only played one character, a charr engineer, and stayed faithful to him the entire way. There’s just so much to do, I never seem to get bored. Even when I hit 100% map completion and finish my story, I’ll still have fun doing dungeons/WvW/completing random achievements.
And alts? Oh yes, I’m very excited to make a second character. But I’m so hooked on my engineer that I can’t seem to give him any rest, haha. Soon I’ll be making an alt, just to try on new armor, take up a new story, live in another charr’s shoes.
Anyway, this is my opinion on the game. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, or that anyone needs to feel the way I do. Maybe just me rambling, I don’t know. But I will say that I really love GW2 and hope that many others do, too. As someone else said, I don’t think it’s dying, but it’s also not thriving, either. But it’s still a new game and I feel as though ArenaNet has a lot of potential.
Wow, I didn’t even know you could get them as drops, haha. 266 hours of game time, never seen one drop. I have hope, now, even if the drop rate is super low!
Longer load times for me as well. Just started noticing it today. I have an SSD, 16GB RAM, i7 2600k, GTX 560Ti. Load screens usually zoom by after 2-3 seconds, now I’m waiting up to 9-10 seconds. Not a huge deal, but sucks when doing a dungeon and I have to waypoint back to rez and hold the group up.
I love the charr running animation. Would really hate if it was changed to where they ran on two legs all the time. I have a key binding to sheathe my weapon so that when I cast swiftness on myself, I can sheathe my weapon quickly and continue running on all fours.

Hey, Rykos. I think you’re right; e-mail authentication should be the only thing that I have to worry about. That’s good to know. Thanks for your reply!
Question about account access from another country

Hey all,
I just have a quick question about account access while on vacation in another country. I apologize if this has already been asked or if this is in the wrong forum, but I couldn’t find a similar thread or a better forum to ask this question.
I live in the United States and I will be visiting Ireland for a little while in late October. If I decide to jump on GW2 to do my daily tasks whilst in Ireland, I know I’ll get the e-mail authentication asking to approve my login, which I will grant access to. But aside from that, are there any other security measures that will try to kick in since it will see that I’m logging in from a completely different country? Also, I will be logging in using a different computer, not my primary one. I’m pretty sure all that it takes into account is the IP address, but I just thought I’d throw that in here for more detail.
I’ve seen one game company that throws up a red flag of suspicion if you try to log in from another country, just as a security precaution. From what research I’ve done on GW2, I don’t think there is anything that will flag my account or prevent me from logging in other than e-mail authentication, but I just thought I would check.
Thank you!
Edit: Clarity.
