…Please do not patronize and pretend that you are the only one experienced enough whilst all others around are hard of comprehension or experience.
…And also untrue as the trap build (without the trapper rune) in SPvP is not something to be taken lightly.…The second mechanic, is that of the traps: ranger traps reveal them from stealth once triggered. Thief traps are completely void of that.
And in ending this spiel of mine, your comment of “hasn’t been nerfed enough =_=”, draws me to an alarming conclusion about your particular skillset:
- Unload p/p is the strongest it has been in right now,
- S/p is a fun high risk build that with haste and rage sigil can be used twice via starting animation and using steal/infil signet
- S/d is still strong
- P/d condi hasn’t changed and still powerful.….you are a very skilless player, with grave attachments to a particulary old and now useless play-style, you cannot change your preset build to suit the changes in the current meta.
…Salutations my my dim-witted colleague
The amount of salt here …wow.
Learn to take some criticism friend.
As to your points, trap builds in sPvP are a joke. It is much better for team comps to take a mobile decap +1 thief that runs the traditional D/P build. sPvP trap thieves can absolutely be taken lightly.
The devs purposefully changed thief traps to not reveal the user when sprung. I can only guess, but I assume it is because thief traps don’t have the same level of impact as ranger or DH traps. It is also much more punishing for a thief to have revealed then a ranger or DH.
P/P is strong, about kitten time. But is a one trick pony.
S/P is a one trick pony X2.
S/D is only strong against bad players, the dodges that made it strong were stolen and put on DD.
P/D is in a decent place right now.
The Ghost Teef build you originally posted about is a one trick pony X42. It relies on RNG to get traps recharged and any decent player will cleanse, and not stand in AoE.
I get you don’t like tanky condi specs in WvW, welcome to the club. Take -duration food and some cleanse and L2P.
What sube dai said.
Plus adapt and overcome mate.
That’s not a good argument for why it should stay the same. Just because you CAN adapt to the weapon doesn’t mean you should HAVE to.
Personally I think the best fix is to get rid of the root and make the chain interruptable to dodges. Problem instantly solved.
Or you can keep the root, but add and evade while you are rooted.
I really like this idea, but it should have be implemented a long time ago. It seems more of a preventive measure. It’s already too late for this to have any substantial change on populations. Anet just needs to spend the time and resources to properly fix their match-up system be it mandatory redistribution, merging, or alliances.
Over a year later and no working search function on these forums. Sasuga Arena Net.
To be honestly I’ve spent well over $200 in gems since launch and it’s taken till now to see just how wasted all that money has been. I’ve needed to take a long break from this game for a while and this patch has given me all the reason to start that now. Arena Net has shown what they really value as a company and as a developer with these changes, and that sure as heck isn’t their players. I’ll still log in with my laptop to get my LS unlocks, but I’m uninstalling GW2 from my main gaming PC. Might even make a new gw1 character and replay the glory days.

dp SA still counters pd.
Many builds can counter p/d, you just need to stop the thief from resealthing. It’s the same tactic for any build really. You just need to stop the thief from stealthing by having well timed CCs and AOE’s.
always spike thieves
Doesn’t the duel usually end in one of the duelers being downed? Like, not finishing
sure
after you win the duel, spike him. he’s a filthy thief.
This is exactly the reason I don’t feel bad for playing thief. People use words like “cheese” and “filthy” to generalize a certain class and player. All classes are easy to counter with the right built and knowledge. L2P and get over your thief rage.
I think getting a free rally would be insanely OP for a gem store item. If you don’t want to see a finisher on your head don’t get downed. But I also feel like a graphics option that limits the finishers you see to just the basic one isn’t a bad idea.
The patch didn’t hit me that hard because I already jumped on the condi meta a couple weeks before the nerf. P/D with dire and krait never felt so good.
I just tried this out last night. I ended up using the build traits and runes, but with my dire armor and p/d & SB. Worked out fantastically. Never knew search and rescue could be so fun.
My only real suggestion is that you don’t need the blind on stealth for this build, I think master of deception is better suited to get more up time on Shadow Refuge and Shadow Step.
You obviously don’t play thief. This would kill the classes core mechanics, and make them a moving target, I agree that WvW, thieves could use a longer revealed duration, but Tpvp is fine as it is.
Me thief, for Sure
You obviously dont played against a wvw “permastealth” thief.
And also if you were talking about tpvp , theres no thief playing x/x/30/x/x build, because of the simple fact by capping/defending/capturing Points. There are many thiefs playing pvp wihtout using stealth and also doing great Job.It wouldnt kill the mechanic but give you advice to pay more Attention by using shadow refuge/mass Invis/ stacking stealth at any form.
I don’t know if you’re serious but permastealth thief doesn’t exist anymore. It got nerfed in the Dec 10th patch. As for your suggestion about revealed you must really not play thief. Thieves have only one option for mitigating damage, and that is avoiding it. They also have two methods for avoiding it, using stealth or dodges/evades. You are suggesting taking away a major functionality of the stealth mechanic. That leaves thieves high and dry, unless Anet decides to let thieves bunker like other classes.
Stealth is not hard to play against, and if you truly know how to play thief you would realize this. AOE and CC with a little bit of experience and you’ve got yourself a dead thief.
