Same issue here.
Thought it was because I changed regions (NA → EU) but obviously not, then I thought it was the x64 client: No dice, a friend has the same issue on the x32.!
Yeah, hate to say it but:
One game per week per “team” is no big deal. Fair enough they would probably have to concentrate (mainly) on one of their teams, but if they have say three teams in: Three games in one day is not hardship for them.
Personal opinion: Make the guild league account bound: Can only sign up for one team per season per account.
Played around with Yolomouse, and it certainly works (colour changing is a very welcome feature)
Even though it doesn’t change the actual game files, having a dev (or someone “official”) reply with a positive “Yes, this can be used” would be a bonus.! <— Never going to happen though.
That being said: They allow combat mod, hell they even implemented their own version of combat mod, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t allow Yolomouse.
Another idea:
Why not (instead of pure solo-q) limit the party size to say a maximum of 3.!
Personally I never really Q with more than one other person in a party, and playing as say a 2/2 1.1.1 isn’t a huge difference to a 3.1.1. Yes it’s a little more challenging if the other team is competent and/or yours aren’t but…
You already have the “guild” league for teams of five pre-made (however much of a joke that is at the moment) and the matchmaking in the normal league (IMO) should never stick 5 pugs or a 2.1.1.1 against a full pre-made: Ever. So maybe having the option, same as you have “stronghold/conquest” to choose max party size could be an idea…
At least then people could choose what they actually want to play, and enjoy the challenge. If they want the chance to play against a full pre-made: They can choose to do so.
Just a thought.
Nice screeny. Ty.
Tbh, I’m never after a “hand out” and I don’t think my initial post lead that way, just that: If you do an event in any of the other maps, you actually get something whether it fails or succeeds. In DS you don’t appear to.
I’d be more than happy if it was just XP, having to work for the Ore is fully understandable.
Again, thanks for the screenshot, gives me a better idea now ;-)
I’m not normally one to grip at things, and I couldn’t find a post similar to this so:
Am I right in thinking that the only merchant that takes Crystalline Ore is AFTER the Dragon Stand meta (successful) event? And the only place to get Crystalline Ore is from the Noxious Pods? And that the only “realistic” place to get these are also after a successful event? (Minus the story stuff you get for achievements)
If this is the case, then the grind/gear grind is all too real, especially if you don’t get anything if the Dragon Stand event fails: Not even XP unlike the other areas..!
Personally, I don’t mind grind. But not getting an “incentive” to continue in Dragon Stand eg: No area currency for defeating the boss (unless I got very unlucky..)
Possible solution: Up the Noxious Pod spawns in the area. Give, I don’t know “20?” Crystalline Ore as a completion reward maybe (similar to other meta events) : Actually give XP if the event fails?
This may just be a semi bugged event chain that is actually supposed to reward with area currency, and if that’s the case: Great, I’m sure it will be fixed at some point. If it’s not:
On with the grind…!
I think they said “10% damage increase”
Can’t remember if anything else was said regarding this apart from “enjoy..”
Going to give me nightmares for weeks.
Should have had a disclaimer or something.
Same. Well, not 3x, just the once. But its my first crash in a hell of a long time.
Odd (or not so odd) that it happens after a patch.
I have a vague recollection of reading that there were “too many parts” eg: sigils/runes etc to make build templates a simple thing.
But:
I used to play EvE online, and you could save “ship templates..” Now, I know that its a wildly different game, built on a fully different engine but to my way of thinking EvE had more “parts” to keep track of: Up to 8 different guns/missile launchers . Up to 8 medium slots (our armor if you want) and up to 8 low slots. Each of these slots could have different things in.
I think they were saved locally to a text file or something.
Tbh, we’ll probably see build templates at some point, as someone mentioned: Due to raids coming in the devs have said that you would likely use traits etc that you never thought to use, and switching from “Raid to PvE to PvP to Wvw” etc etc would be a little bit tedious IMO..
I was thinking about this when it was “officially” announced yesterday.
We’ll have: Raids, WvW, PvP, PvP Stronghold, Standard PvE, Dungeons, World Boss PvE.
And each of these might require different builds, or at least a “tweak” on your standard build.
Did I miss anything?
Not everyone likes using the same build for all of the above (I know I don’t) but switching isn’t exactly tricky. That being said: Build templates would enable people to play around with more builds “on the fly” than they can now.
I for one would love to see build templates, even if it meant I had to use a bag slot for all my “extra equipment.”
“….access to the first skill-based finisher available to players”
Hints to me that all classes will eventually get them.
Saw that. Was a very intriguing little section on the PvP build tab..!
(shh: Don’t think we were meant to see it though..)
K,
Will start with a “I like the new system, think it has decent potential etc etc..”
But.:
Pre-patch you were able to “select” anything, any trait you wanted in any “section” of the trait line eg: You could (if you wanted) have 3 adept traits in, lets say Explosives (engi main here..) Hell, you could even put traits in ANY trait line you wanted in order to make your own custon build. Guardian medi dps was a prime example: 0/1/6/1/6 (four trait lines used..)
Ok, people will argue that you can now have three Grandmaster traits.! Great, joy. But that example build never needed three GM’s.
Now we get to choose a fairly limited three FULL trait lines, but are locked in to which traits we can have.! Three adept, three Master and three GM. This is all well and good, and I get the “simplifying” things to make life easier for new players, but lets face it: It was fairly simple to start with: You picked what YOU wanted. Simple. I just can’t help but feel that things have been “over simplified.”
As I said at the start: I like the new system, I honestly think it has huge potential. The design works (being able to re-size the PvP build interface would be nice though, and moving the UI to suit would be pretty decent) and the theory behind making life simpler is always a good thing, I mean who wants to do more work than absolutely necessary?
My main concern is this: When Elite specs get brought in, are we going to loose one of those “limited” three trait lines, or gain an additional line? If we loose a line: The “Elites” had better be worth it, if not: Perfect, an extra trait line that (IMO) is sorely missing. I think its the former though.
As it stands at the moment, the patch has been “live” for a day, and teething problems will occur. I also know that the trait system will NEVER be reverted back to how it was: Like it or lump it situ. I like it, but do feel that things have been “dumbed down” way too much, after all: How hard is it to ask for advice and/or look over forums for a guide?
On a different note: if this simplifying of things is a prelude to build templates (I remember reading that it was a fairly complex thing to do with the old system) that would be great, it would actually make “most” of the changes worth it.
Conclusion: GW2 (for me) was all about being able to use whatever traits I wanted, being able to have a build that suited “my” play style. I cant help feeling that with the new system GW2 has reverted back to the days of limited selection, where games were linear.
With all that being said: I will continue to play, GW2 is the longest I have stuck with a game and I am intrigued to see what path it will take in the future.
Cheers,
Ok, maybe not “broken” but… Kinda broken ;-)
You are on a server, you go to a Dragon area and guess what? Overflow. Guesting has (IMO) broken the “Server specific dynamic events”
I can remember (not too long ago) being able to WP up to Frostgorge, find Jormag and actually participate in the event. Now: I watch the Dragon timer, and see “Jormag has started” but guess what? It’s not there..
The overflow in LA, I really don’t mind. But c’mon: An overflow that basically prohibits participating in an event on YOUR own world/server = pointless. Yes I could “guest” over to another server, but why should I?
This is probably (IMO) the main thing broken with the game.
Hi,
As the title suggests I have a mini complaint/curiosity about BLSK’s..
Everyone I have spoken to (mainly friends) has acquired at least one of these through completing dailies/map completions etc etc.. I however have received the grand sum of: Zero..!
Has anyone else had this issue? Or is it just me?
I know this isn’t a big problem: Not game breaking or debilitating, but it is fairly annoying..
I have already posted once, but on reflection I would like to add some other points.
First and foremost: Fair play and sterling job by Gaile Gray. It’s actually quite (lack of better term) “nice” to see a Support Liaison responding to pretty much everything with a positive attitude.. Keep going ;-)
Second: Yes I am one of the people who had massive issues on the final event. I participated in everything right up to the finale, and the only reason I wasn’t there was due to mad server lag and sheer inability to play: Being told I am running into a wall even though it looked (to me) like i was shooting a Karka..! It was just impossible for me to play the game, even with settings dropped right down…
However: Am I annoyed that (so far) I have received nothing? Of course I am. I put in the time, attended the events to the best of my ability and was rewarded with a disconnect, massive lag on a scale I have never seen and the frustration of (what felt to me) an utter waste of time..
I am not sure if the people who posted that they didn’t attend at all and still got a Karka mail (nice ring to it) is true or not and quite frankly I really don’t care that much. What does bother me is (as has been stated) that people who attended, got the loot and actually finished the event got one… This in itself is not that bad, but the comment of “we won’t be taking them back” just makes me realize how wrong this “clean-up” has gone: They should never have got a second chest at all.
I read somewhere that come Monday morning this will basically be pushed under the rug and forgotten about due to the Winters Day content!? Whoever said this: Your probably right, but at the end of the day what we all have to remember is: We have no subscription, the cash shop is not in any way game breaking and is fully voluntary… We bought the game and we pay if we want to.
I just hope that the people who put time into the event are not forgotten..! After all: If they were able to do stage one and the rest of it, why would they miss the finale if they could help it!?
Nowt, nadda, zilch: nothing…!
I was at Southsun Cove: In one spot to be exact. Why one spot? Because I couldn’t move due to mad server lag..!
I’ll be honest: I wouldn’t mind getting nothing. I’m English and we English folk are used to getting shafted….
I’ll be honest here: People getting chests from the main event really doesn’t bother me. They participated, they got the reward; simple.
what does bug is the people who got the reward on multiple characters and still got a nice shiny chest mailed to them…
For me: I participated, got massive lag: disconnected a few times tried again and I’ll be honest: Gave up. But I made it to Southsun Cove, got off the boat killed a few “ghost” Karka’s with lucky lag shots and (guess what) got disconnected. When I tried again I couldn’t even log in!!!
I would love to know where the fairness is in that? I actually tried to and did manage to participate but due to no fault on my half physically could not play the game (on the event) due to disconnects and massive server lag. Oh forgot to add that I did manage to do everything up until the “Final Event”
Participant who couldn’t play: Chest? Nope.
Participant’s who played, got the rewards and still got a chest mailed? Yep.
Well, what can really be said?
I have only been playing for a few weeks and must admit to enjoying the game a lot.. Having played numerous MMO’S over the years it was finally nice to see a relatively polished game from stage one: That said, the recent event “Lost Shores” was just that: Lost.
The first stage was great, I was able to play with very few issues, maybe the occasional lag spike, but nothing drastic. The second stage, well: Log in, see my party members moving on the mini-map whilst I was stood perfectly still waiting for skills so activate. Then to crash with an error box. Great fun… Really it was.!
Now I find out that players were switching alts in order to get more loot.! Really? And I must admit, after reading/hearing about the loot I am extremely disappointed. Not in the loot itself, but because the ones who tried to play yet couldn’t get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING: Even if they managed to complete the first and second stages.. Oh, and I’m not including Karka shells or crab meat in that. To top this: People were getting “named exotics” from the end event, whilst the ones who couldn’t play got a whole in their gold/silver.
I am not normally a complainer as I understand that games/events of this scale take a lot to sort out, but come on: I have a pretty decent computer (Can run nearly all games on max settings) but even on low GW2 during the event was (for me) a hideous, unplayable mess. And from what I have read: I am certainly not the only one.
The event, the new area is (as I understand it) free content, and for that I applaud ArenaNet. And tbh, providing a game that you have no monthly sub for is outstanding, so lets be honest: complaints really should be at a minimum.
But whilst providing an experience that surpasses other games, for some, a lot by the sounds of it, were thrown back to archaic connections and unplayability.
Will we see anything done about this? Nope, the event is over and all of our complaints/moans will go unheeded… Will the same happen in the next event…..?
Probably.
