Tonight was the first time in a long time I did not play. I felt like a n00b last night so I think I’m done for now. Maybe next month they will revert some of this bull kitten and I’ll come back, but we all know that is wishful thinking.
Tomb Raider is on sale on Steam right now. They got my money this time. No more for Anet. Tonight was the first time in a long time I did not play, and I am ok with that.
I think I am one of the few eles that use RtL as a gap closer and rely more on lightning flash for a getaway. Right now, we need to do damage to get back our 20 second CD. Is it intended that blocks, blinds, etc. trigger the 40 second CD? If this truly the case I would like your feedback on why this functionality is intended.
12 chests 0 tickets. In fact, nothing but junk.
Elementalist
Arc Lightning skill: Now strikes enemies that it passes through.
Conjured weapons:
Now stop autoattacks and cannot be autocast.
Now properly appear in the player’s hands upon casting.
Signet of Air skill: Updated the passive buff’s description to appropriately indicate the movement speed granted.
Elementalists can no longer use the Mist Form skill to instantly rally if they go down exactly at the end of the Tornado skill.
Changing attunements no longer causes players to start autoattacking.
The Sunspot, Electric Discharge, and Earthen Blast traits no longer trigger when changing attunements while out of combat.
Evasive Arcana trait: Plays an effect if the elementalist dodges while in water attunement.
Resonating Legacy has the intent to explore all areas of the game, and to develop a strong community in the process. We are not focused on any one particular aspect of the game (PvE, PvP, WvW, etc). Rather, we are working to develop those areas as we progress. Although this is a casual guild, through a good community we can work together to accomplish great things.
We have regularly scheduled events (alt night, jumping puzzles, dungeons, etc) but there will be no mandatory attendance. We all have our own lives outside of the game which need attending to, so with that understanding there would certainly be no penalty for not being able to attend events.
We are looking for members with a good sense of humor, and the ability to just have fun in the game. As a guild we can have our own sense of camaraderie that goes above and beyond our open world allies. With that in mind; we should focus on doing what we can to help each other out, and in general just enjoy the company.

I have been doing well with 0/30/0/20/20. I like it because its viable for D/D and S/D.
I feel like that wouldn’t just change. Anet probably changed it for an out. When people QQ about it brim OP they can fix a bug where “Stone Splinters now match the tooltip” lol.
I thought that Stone Splinters was buffed in 12/14 patch? I noticed the tooltip reads "Deal 5% more damange when within a distance of 50 of your target. I thought the range was increased from 300 to 600?
Hey guys. I am an officer of a small Tarnished Coast guild. The active member list has shrunken recently so we are recruiting! We run dungeons and WvWvW frequently and are always up for leveling alts. Whisper me in game for an invite
I have been running HotW a lot recently. Path one is definitely harder post-wintersday patch. During my last run, we found getting on the balcony during the Aldus fight seems to bottleneck the adds. This makes it doable. Two people focus on the boss and three on the adds. I don’t mind a more challenging fight but this is certainly buggy behavior.
No, it is on route to being balanced though. D/D is viable, staff is situational and scepter is, well, meh. I think D/D is in a good spot. I would like to see the other weapons balanced a bit better along with our trait line. An ele is supposed to be a jack of all trades, but that means we need more than two effetive builds.
The price of T5 mats have fallen to almost the same low they were at before the great ban. I know some argue that bots make the market afordable, but that is not the case. These low prices are not a true reflection of the supply/demand curve which will hurt the economy in the long run. This has the potential to make too many rich players which ultimatly leads to inflation, perhaps more so then we saw in the last round of bans.
It has been too quiet over here in the ele forums for far too long. It was so nice to see red threads that weren’t mod posts. On behalf of all of us, thank you for the communication. All games have bugs and all players have feedback. The feedback has been very negative lately, part of which I admittedly participated in, but reading your responses and your acknowledgment over some concerns is uplifting. Thanks again for taking the time to communicate with us and remind us we are not forgotten. I hope the trend continues in the future. it will certainly help improve the tone around here and lead to more constructive, beneficial discussions.

This would be a fun gameplay mechanic and would open the door to new builds.
This is eaxactly the wrong reason to implement in combat weapon swapping. Adding new, potentially devastating new combinations is something you want to avoid for game balance’s sake. Dismissing the auto attacks for a moment, you now have 4*4*4=64 new skill combinations that have to be balanced relatively to eachother.
That’s exactly the thing they wanted to avoid coming from GW1.
I disagree here. Yes, balancing the skills needs to be taken into consideration, but the limitations I listed allow for impossible abuse of other attunments. The biggest balancing issue would be water, a lot of healing. Other than that though, I can’t think of anything that would be OP. we would get some extra combo finishers, which we used to have anyway. This is a much more interesting and strategic way of implementing it.
I have been thinking a lot about weapon swapping for the elementalist. I am primarily a D/D wielder but frequently swap to staff or S/D if the situation calls for it. It is hard to predict a fight, especially in WvW, and I think weapon swapping could balance out the class. Weapon swapping in the traditional sense would be OP and out of combat weapon swap would be mostly useless. Here is how I think weapon swapping could be implemented without being OP:
generally weapons swapping has a 10 second cool down and our attunments, without any points in arcana, have a 15 second cool down. So why not give us weapon swaps with that same 15 second cool down with a catch? it would work like this: If we swap weapons in combat it puts every attunment on cool down, except for the attunment we are currently in. So, if I’m in fire and swap weapons, water, air and earth all go on cool down. After 15 seconds I can either swap back, with the same behavior, or swap attunments as usual. This severely penalizes swapping and returning whike rewarding players for playing smart and adapting to a situation. Adding points in arcana would behave as it does now by reducing attunment cool down, but not the weapon swap cool down.
This would make weapon swaps strategic and wouldn’t allow for any spamable abilities. It would also allow us to utilize some of our combo fields if timed right. Most importantly though, we would be able to quickly adapt to any situation in a viable, balanced way. If someone closes the gap while in staff, switch to daggers and fight with limited abilities or stay with staff, CC and run. This would be a fun gameplay mechanic and would open the door to new builds. Hell, it could even make the all spells in X attunment recharge 20% faster trait useful.
Feel free to leave criticisms and/or suggestions.
My attunments are ZXCV. I hit them with my thumb.
I find it so hard to solo with a staff now. I am really liking D/D, but I really miss the extra blast finisher. It’s been a long week
Judging by the lack of a response over the past 4 days, I’d say that’s a safe bet. Well, I guess it’s time to join the horde that is D/D eles. Though referring to us as a horde is admittedly laughable.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious to see a “horde” of D/D eles running through WvW though?
Lol, Anet would nerf us by not allowing us to wield daggers anymore.
Out of combat weapon swap. This gives no combat advantage it only saves us precious seconds when we need to adapt to a situation.
I don’t want anymore ele changes, buffs or nerfs, until Anet at least gives us there vision of the class. We would all benefit from this. It will make it easier for us to adapt to changes instead of being blindsided and having to scramble to figure something out to be viable again.
Arcane Power is still bugged with this patch. When active, it does not crit the next 5 attacks, only 1 or 2.
Oh wait… I am sure Anet will fix this bug in the next patch… that is by changing the tooltip to ’ Your Next 1 To 2 Attack Will Crit ’. Brilliant.
It’s not really bugged, just more of an over site from Anet. A lot of skills “pulse” and the way it’s coded each pulse is an attack. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the tool tip says next 5 attacks, not next five skills do critical damage. So take burning speed, for example, this skill “pulses” or causes damage as you rush by enemies. Each pulse is criting just not for very much because the base damage per pulse is so low. That’s why burning speed eats up all of arcane power. The trick is knowing which skills work best with arcane power, such as fire grab or churning earth (if triggered at the last second).
I don’t agree with the way the skill works at the moment, but it is possible to still be effective at it when paired with the right skills. I find the combo burning speed/dragons breath, arcane wave, arcane power, fire grab, air attunment (with 15 points in air you get lightning strike, which crits for about 1.4k with my build), RTL, lightening whip to be very effective as an in combat spike. This gets full use out of arcane power and for me is about 8-10k worth of damage.
So, now that EA is the laughing stalk of town it is time to figure out how to move forward and be viable. I was playing an Aura D/D hybrid build and used EA to stack might. This make up for my lack of power. I was survivable and had decent DPS…it worked.
Anyway, now, I have to respec. I am looking into a D/D hybrid of this build:
The build looks bit to squishy for me plus I don’t want to go back to S/D. So, today I’ve been messing around with this. I think I have an idea how I am going to respec: 10/20/0/20/20. I am still working out the runes and sigils and after I test it out I can post back here if there is interest. The main thing I wanted to do is share the links. The video is entertaining and informative, and the build sheet helps with the “in theory” type thinking.
Begging to get EA back will not work, its a lost cause. Anet, please, please, at the very least let us use condoms. I want to be safe the time you F@%K ME!

And they didn’t waste anytime fixing the ranger bug tonight. Granted, that was unintended, but we deserve something. I couldn’t even bring myself to play tonight. I want to know what there reasoning is. I think that would make any reasonable person feel better.
I bet the debs are sitting in a room with a bowl of popcorn with huge grins on their faces. “We did it guys” says one. "Yep, they will all reroll warriors, just like we planned. "
With the huge update today Ele is trully worth it. Many skills are fixed and that’s nice.
And many skills were nerfed, and that sucks.
kitten this kittening game
Well this is depressing… i really want to love elementalist but god kitten they’re making it hard.
Honestly, blast rolling into my fields was half the fun i got from staff.
And nerfing tornado? what is this…
lol…nerfing tornado. Nobody uses that anyway. Jokes on you, Anet.
kitten Anet. Seriously. I just finished my build, gear and all last night. Now it’s ducking worthless. It makes sense to take away the extra blast finishers, that was a bit OP. we now have 5 useless trait lines that in no way compliment each other. I’m going to go buy Halo 4.
Yeah, they didn’t say “Soon”. They said “Noon”. Noon is a pretty specific time, it only occurs once a day.
Noon in the pacific, to be quite specific.
Thanks folks, I’m here all day.
Has there been any official communication regarding the defend Lions Arch event? I have heard that it will be a one time event at 12pm PST. I have also heard that it starts at 12pm PST but continues for the remainder of the day. I am curious because I, like the majority of US players, will be working or at school at that time.
So, I feel like the bots are back? I was actually making a profit crafting last week and over the weekend. In the past 24 hours prices have dropped again, back to where they were over a week ago.
As an American gamer, I will be boycotting the event and I invite you all to do the same. The way they are handling this is ridiculous. There is no reason why they can’t instance the event which you are brought to the first time you log on after noon PST. This would function exactly how the tutorial instances work. This is a bad decision on Anet’s part. Let’s send a message by having the lowest concurrency count since launch. Who’s with me?
This was a lot of fun. My only complaint was all the people. The group size should have been smaller, or it should have been a solo event. Half the battle was being able to see my character (Asura). The frist few jumps were all luck.
Why can’t Anet just make this a cutscene that plays for everyone the first time they log in starting a noon PST? This would make every player globaly be able to experience this. I, myself have commitments and will not be able to attend. Real life comes first, Anet. Don’t punish players for that!
All in all. Hats off to Anet.
Disappointing. I did not hear this subject discussed at all during tonight’s presidential debate. If I were president, I would ensure that all Americans and people around the world get to experience this content on the day it was promised.
Yes, I have been testing in combat.
I am not a PVPer. I on,y play PVE and I cannot get it to work. Anets support is also a joke. This does seem to be isolated to me and they are just telling me to deal with it.
Superior Sigil of Battle is no longer granting 3 stacks of might on attunment swap (elementalist). I am using a D/D build and it doesn’t matter if the sigil on in my main hand or my off hand. I am also aware of the ICD on sigils and have confirmed it to not grant any might at all. This was working a couple days ago, and could potentialy be a result of the 10/11 patch.
