Q: Whats a strong WvW roamer class to roll?
A: Thief
Nuff said
Agreed. But not the only ones.
I don’t know which has more players because I simply don’t play PvP, but, I feel like most people think WvW has more players because there are zergs…
Dunno know what to say to this one besides why are you on the pvp forums?
Guild Wars 2 → Forums → forum → World vs World → Ok its time for some truths/realizations. And I’m pretty sure most people here are comparing the two…which is why I’m even typing in the first place.
if u like be a coward, ur choise is thief or ele. just see if they can beat some1 in 1v1, they just run away. 0 respect for enemy
if u like be a real true man!!!oneone!!!! pick prof without good escape skill. like mesmer, it real chalenge when u cant escape. but in battle u can learn how to be a good player and kill 2 or 3 against u
I’m a mesmer and could probably escape very easily lol. I personally like to stay and fight unless it’s too big of a group lol. I feel like any class could get away if they’re good enough and utilize their strong points. I do agree that most thieves are annoying but most stay and fight until they did their 2 seconds of burst and die lmao
A thief just solo’d a champion and his crew at a tower. That, my friends, is broken. No class and no one person should be able to take that down, it should be designed to take a team of folks to do it.
What about the Elemental who can ride the lightning into the lords room in a tower without breaking down the wall or door and solo the champ and his minions. They should reduce the distance of RTL by half and nerf ele’s dps.
Your point? That Anet is even more broken? Okay, fine. It’s even more broken. Not that I’ve ever done any of that on my elementalist.
I don’t care what anyone says, if you can’t see it and it can hit me first for huge damage, it’s OP. There’s no way I can counter something I can’t see. I won’t even play the class, ‘cause that’s too much of an advantage over someone else.
HAHAHAHAHA. So a thief backstabs you on your tank for lets say 1/3 of your HP’s. you still have more life than him(probably close to half again as much as he has). Learn to dodge roll. The only time a thief has ever landed a second hit on me after coming out of stealth is if he was using basilisk venom.
If you dont have heavy armor then invest in some toughness and you can get the same effect. You got to understand that endurance regenerates pretty slowly and you can at most dodgeroll a couple of times, while the thieves can conserve their initiative while in stealth, then back stabbing for no initiative. Having played warriors for a long time, alot of thieves i encounter, the only thing i could do was, wildy slash and hack the air, while the thieves appear again only to backstab and disappear. 2 dodgerolls aint enough for the backstabbing from thieves, which bring down tanks easily. the time between backstabs are too short for warriors to recover endurance, not to mention, healing skill cooldown, which is much longer like 25 seconds to 30, whereas thieves initiative go back up quickly from CnD in like 5 seconds.
I’m not very familiar to all of the classes but I’ve seen every type of class kill a burst thief or whatever they’re called. Obviously cooldowns suck but if you have enough experience, you can kill whoever. I’ve never played warrior but I’ve heard how beastly their cc is. How about right after a thieves first hit or even before they hit you, stun them and kill them. Like I said before I don’t know the details of all classes but I feel like you can come up with at least one way to kill any profession.
I don’t know which has more players because I simply don’t play PvP, but, I feel like most people think WvW has more players because there are zergs…
Anything with an escape. As been stated many times, any class can solo. Honestly, in my opinion, all you need is a decent escape and experience with whatever profession you chose. Obviously some classes have better escapes than others but just like in any game, the more experienced player seems to win.
Obviously zergs tend to beat “small’ish” groups, but no matter how many people, if the smaller group is experienced enough, don’t underestimate them.
The best counter to stealth also happens to be the best counter to everything else: experience. Go play a thief, and find some good players to fight against.
Or you can just get better at the profession you play now and continue to fight against thieves to get better. I understand that playing a role helps when fighting the same role because you know what they’re capable of, but I tend to be lazy and don’t feel like getting more toons to level 80. I agree with what you’re saying but playing the profession you’re comfortable with and practicing on that toon also helps a great deal.
There’s only shatter. If you run anything else to be ‘different’ you’re doing it wrong. Running anything but shatter heavy builds is like playing with one hand and not playing as much as you would with both hands. If you don’t shatter you 1) deal pathetic aoe damage, 2) don’t apply aoe confusion (which isn’t amazing in pve but still free damage), 3) don’t build any Might stack to deal EVEN more damage with everything… Fail if you focus on phantasm crap or anything else.
To be honest, unless you have proof this isn’t true, I guarantee you’ve gotten wrecked by other mesmers following a different build than you. You’re wrong and plenty of people will prove that to you whether it’s killing you in WvW/PvP or whatever, or in a vid.
Yes…I’ve seen the massive ET zergs. They’re fairly intimidating until they start running at the first sign of trouble – which is a complete turn around from HoD and NSP who would fight to the last man. shrug Different play style I guess.
There was a HUGE zerg in the GoM BL last night that would rip into a target, take it over and then move on like a swarm of locusts – allowing us to recap their former target fairly quickly. When we’d finally cornered the nasty thing in Sunny, we spanked them all soundly before sending them back to their spawn point to think about what they’d done – sometimes the best way to deal with petulant children.
The big, blob of enemy names is fairly impressive to see from a distance…but there’s not much substance there. HoD does it right in that regard. THEY know how to zerg. Take some lessons.
I’m on ET and that’s the reason why I generally like to roam with a few friends or meet up with another small group when I’m alone. Whenever I’m in the zerg, I always end up dying because I’m there alone -.-
does race matter? I started a sylvari necro, because I liked the idea of death being part of nature. But cannot really tell if race matters much.
Not really.
-.-
Seriously… Like I’m not directing this to anyone or any server in particular. Seriously, we get our match up thread closed and we’re only in the 3rd kitten day of it? Wtf guys?
Hopefully we can keep this one somewhat civil -.-
As for SF’s golem march through EB it was 29 alphas and 1 omega. Needed the omega to command them all, it just doesn’t make any sense otherwise.
@Rob, sneaky kittens… I must’ve logged out just before you guys pulled that golem maneuver on our BL. Was hoping the east coast crew would take care of anything like that. GJ. All keeps… we had that upgraded well…. You break my heart man <\3. Well played.
The problem is we are here for different levels of fun. SF seems to only know how to have fun with 40 + people around each other.
HoD has it’s 20 manners, as well as NSP. (which i still find equally annoying)
There are ALSO a good number of people who only need 1-10 around them to have their fun, and SF doesn’t have any of those. That’s why the thread got closed because other than those Osif pointed out, the forum posters would like to enjoy more skill-full combat in open world pvp. And you all simply do not provide anything close. This isn’t trolling, it’s stating facts man.
20 man? This crying again? No on cares how many people you have on each of their side. We literally pushed your zerg out that was twice the amount of what we had, out of SM. If that’s your idea of fun, then be my guest. But honestly quit bringing more excuses about numbers and wanting to run around with 20 tarts. You guys are getting outplayed at every level and instead of finding another strategic move to counter it, all you guys do is run to the forums and cry again. Like others have said before me, whether theyre from SF or not, if you want random small groups running around go find one on LFG (lols) or something. Or better yet PvP. But don’t expect we’ll stoop down to your levels of fun, just because we’re enjoying ours. That’s nice that you guys have escort guilds running around doing this, but if you guys are really a WvW lover like a majority of us are, then running to the forums and finding excuses should be the last thing on your mind. So, to tl:dr this, NO THANKS!
Buddy, we run 5 guys every night….I think even running with 20 takes no skill. Any player can spam #1 and win 80-90% of their fights…..that shouldn’t be allowed. And you run twice that!
Skill this Skill that…hands down real good players just don’t run in zergs. That is a fact. From the beginning of pvp the majority of good players find ways to win outside of having 20+ around them. So go on and on about “outplaying” everyone…you out number everyone, use the correct terminology.
I’m from ET, and while I don’t run around and zergs and just do my own thing most of the time, I’ve been forced to defend and push out SF when they were in T8 and I know for a fact you’re right. I don’t mean to start even more arguments, but, SF is numbers and you have to get used to it. Fact of the matter is, fighting against a zerg all the time can get you better and, to be honest, I thank them for throwing 20+ guys in my face when I have 1 other person with me because I’ve beaten them in zergs before lol. You just have to get used to their numbers.
I’m a level 80 Human Mesmer and was wondering what a decent gear set would be? I would rather not transmutate ( less work ), and I’m looking for robes and a hood. I’ve always liked that look and can’t seem to find a decent looking one for my level.
All I know is I’m having fun with the fights lol. It’s been a lot of fun and I hope it continues.
As I run threw dangerous areas, I use decoy to distract and get through them. But recently, I either don’t go invisible and possibly die, or go invisible and they still hit me, and possibly die lol. Really annoying to be honest.
How did this great Post turn into yet another balance-discussion? Keep it together guys….
Balance is atm. a non-Issue copared to necessary features like custom servers and obs-mode.
People only fight or defend for what benefits them. If not, we would all be heroes and to become a hero will not be as prestigious as it is now.
On with the survey
Agreed lol. Of course not all people are like that. Look at Batman
For the strongest/Weakest classes, I just want to say that Mesmers and Elementalists are considered the strongest by many people because they’re also the two hardest, in my opinion. If the class is hard, it only makes sense for it to be a little ahead of the others because it takes more time to get decent with them. I also don’t like how some of the results were in the middle lol. Just felt like commenting for once
@The Eternal Grace: Correction. A rather small part of the community is asking for it. The majority seems to be fine without. So it sucks that you apparently chose the wrong race, I am sorry. Does not take all that long to level a new character though.
@Eviscera: You don’t hear all that many stupid things do you.
Agreed.
