I also play on a Macbook!
The Specs for my Mac are below:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
OSX El Capitan Version 10.11.4
Processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
Currently My Macbook under OSX can run consistently at 60 fps at areas like Kessex Hills with Medium High settings, whereas other locations like any fractal runs me at 20-25 fps, and Verdant Brink runs me at20 fps with the same settings.
However, I frequently find my client crashing during Meta Events such as Dragon’s Stand Tequatl the Sunless, or even just from playing with no Meta events for an extended period of time(Roughly after 2-3 Hours of gaming).
Needless to say I am unsatisfied with that performance and temporarily switch to Windows 8 via bootcamp on my Mac(Until ANet makes the Mac Client tolerable..)
Via bootcamp, I can run Guild Wars at a noticeably more consistent fps while also running at medium-high settings with the Graphics options on that aren’t available on Mac.
I also have NEVER experienced Crashes on the Windows Client for Mac(64-bit).
It sucks though, Windows 8 while idle causes my Mac to start heating up very quickly.
I long for the day I can run Guild Wars on a Mac Client that is fully integrated with Apple’s operating system. That way I can see what Guild Wars 2 paired with my mac are graphically capable of.

Because this crappy Mac Client crashed on me.
Over the course of the entire Dragon’s Stands events my Mac client crashed about 8 times. 3 of which were at mordremoth. The LAST crash was right before mordremoth died and now I can’t re-enter the map to get my rewards.
My crappy windows laptop that I had before this would drop down to 10 fps during meta events but never crash. This Mac Client has me running at 30 fps during meta events and crashes every 5-10 minutes during said events.
Way to sell us an Expansion marketing working for Mac when in reality you dish us out a broken Mac Client.
Thanks for wasting my time ANet.
Jesus Christ i’m so salty right now.

I have been having some issues with GW2 on Mac.
Anytime I go into a world with many people (Lion’s Arch, any guild event etc) I am getting booted, or the client will freeze up and I’ll have to force quit. Anyone else having issues, or have suggestions on how to fix it?
Post specs please.
The simple fact is that the current Mac client isn’t very efficient – it uses Cider so you’re basically having to translate DirectX API calls to OpenGL in real time, which simply isn’t efficient, especially on such a CPU bound game to begin with.
What I can suggest you try is running the game using Wine with CSMT enabled – I’ve gotten better FPS that way.
You can also try editing the game’s configuration in ~/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2 and I believe the file is called config – basically it has a line for the video memory which by default is set to 256M. Try raising this to 1024M or so.
Hope this helps.
Edited the config a while back already. It didn’t improve anything
I have not however tried enabling CSMT. Can that also be found in the config?

I have been trying to play GW2 HoT on my Mac but the game keeps crashing any time I try take part in meta events… it will even eventually crash if I explore for an extended period of time. While I love the game and its new features (I admit I collect a lot of in store skins as I like to have good looking toons) it has got to a point where I no longer get enjoyment from the game and, unless a fix comes out soon, I will migrate to other online games. The money I spend on the in game purchase will instead be spent on sub fees for other games. please fix this game as I love where it is going, otherwise I will take my money elsewhere.
I also regularly experience this on my Mid 2014 Macbook Pro. The legendary Dragon in Verdant Brink crashes my client and eventually after rougly 4-5 hours of straight gaming my mac inevitably crashes. This is a terrible thing that nobody should experience when playing a game as great as Guild Wars 2.
ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING when the expansion is currently being sold as a game that is working for Macs when it clearly does not.
I cannot stress enough how annoying it is trying to complete Meta events only for your client to crash moments before the meta event finishes.
It is extremely off putting and I hope an effective solution is provided very soon. For current Mac players and especially for Mac newcomers.

Good luck.
Not new to Guild Wars 2(been playing since 2012) but im totally new to the forums.
Thanks!
Any Mac users out there with suggestions to improve the FPS stability on the Mac Client?
I love Guild Wars 2 and i’m currently looking for an effective way to improve my performance while still maintaining Medium settings for Guild Wars 2.
At least until a native client is officially released.
I’m also not interested in using bootcamp and partitioning my drive for Windows.
I’ve attached my specs below.
They are testing it/working on it.
When we shipped the game originally we used a third-party shell to ‘host’ the Windows version. While this got the product out the door on Mac there are some things we haven’t been able to do to make it a true Mac application. We are actively experimenting with getting native code that runs directly on the Mac with OpenGL etc. I don’t know how long it will take to make it “real” but I can say that this week we finally got it compiling, linking, and starting up on a Mac before it crashes at the login screen.
We don’t have much to say about it. That’s often why we are silent. I don’t want to give you all hope of something only to take it away if it doesn’t work out.
How long ago was that quote? Can you post a link to your source? O:
Im curious.
Any progress on this yet? A ton of Guild Wars 2 players are Mac owners and would really love to see some progression on this.
A few benefits from a native client:
-Better integration with Mac OS X
-Significantly Improved Stability(Less Drops/Spikes in FPS)
-Better FPS
-Mac specific features Implemented
Most modern MMOs that do support Mac run on native clients. MMOs such as: World of Warcraft, The Lord of the Rings Online, Elder Scrolls Online, etc.
The things mentioned above might not be a lot, but they do heavily impact gameplay and having better of any of those would definitely give us Mac players more incentive to play the game.
Which, in a world where Mac gaming is becoming increasingly more common, I think it would be a great idea to make Guild Wars 2 a more Mac friendly game.
I think they take the color of the previous dye on your armor. The reason why I ask is because I wanna full blown roleplay as braham. I didnt have a norn and the only ones I find cool are him and Eir. and well, I personally dont really like playing a female character when im given the choice to create a male. you know, to prevent people maybe thinking im a chick behind the monitor. lol
But yeah, can anyone else reading this help me out??

Does anybody have any idea what dye color is Braham’s Armor exactly?
I can’t seem to find the right dye. It looks like a blueish color with a light shade of purple mixed into it. Can anyone pitch some ideas?
