Yes an animation of such would be nice. It’s not mandatory but if dev have time one day it can be nice !
I don’t think it will, in the current state of Guild Wars 2 every weapon comes with 4 skills for each slot depending on the attunement. It will still work the same.
If you equip “Dagger” in the right hand you could select your 3 skills for slots 1, 2 and 3 from the “Dagger” skills. Each “Dagger” skill will have 4 abilites (1 for each element).
It’s exactly like this right now, since when you equip you weapons you have 5 skills * 4 attunements = 20 skills.
I see no difficulty here, like in current game each weapon skills will be specific to each classe. Rifle skills for the Warrior are not the same the Engineer has. This will not change to keep balance.
Before adding new weapons to the game, I’d like to see more customization in the weapons we already have. We feel like we need more weapons mainly because when we equip a weapon we don’t have the choice in what it does.
I made a complete re-think of the weapon skills system here : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Weapon-skills-builds-customization-balance
You can give me you opinion about it, and then when this is live in game I’ll be glad to welcome new weapons like whips, lightsabers and scythes !
I just made my own suggestion for the same problematic and I think my solution is more balanced than the abilities leveling up you suggested.
You can read it here : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Weapon-skills-builds-customization-balance
I read a lot about weapon skills on this forum and even if some suggestions are already in this forum I think I came up with something much more balanced and with a bit of the feel Guild Wars had.
Situation : the skills 1, 2 and 3 are for the right handed weapon, the skills 4 and 5 are for the left handed weapon. In the case of a two-handed weapon, all 5 skills are tied to the weapon.
Problem : we don’t have enough customization on the first 5 slots of our skill bar. The skills are linked to the weapon we choose and we have no choice in those. Using for example a Rifle will always unlock the 5 same skills for a given profession.
Solution : adding a choice in the skills that are on this first part of the skill bar.
How : the goal is to keep the skill allocation described in the “Situation” but also allowing the player to change the skills linked to each hand. It would be easy to add variations of the existing skills for each weapon and the player would have the choice between a crowd-control, direct-damage, area of effect abilities, damage over time…build for his weapon skills.
This would work like it did in Guild Wars where weapon skills were available for different professions. In this game we had the following attributes (with 3 skills as examples) :
– Axe Mastery : Axe twist, Axe chop, Cyclone Axe
– Hammer Mastery : Crushing blow, Hammer bash, Heavy blow
– Swordsmanship : Gash, Knee cutter, Sever artery
– Dagger Mastery : Death blossom, Disrupting stab, Lotus strike
– Spear Mastery : Blazing spear, Swift javelin, Wild throw
– Scythe Mastery : Crippling sweep, Eremite’s attack, Farmer’s scythe
It would be really easy to create an attribute for each weapon type and then release skills for each attribute. You would be allowed to equip skills 1, 2 and 3 from the attribute of the right hand and skills 4 and 5 from the attribute of the other hand (only one attribute for 2-handed weapons).
This way we keep the hand limitation for the skills and we add a large personalization to the different builds. Of course with such system a build saving tool would be gladly welcome since many players will want to experiment and change skills with situation.
Creating the skills for each weapon would take some time to design (even if Guild Wars can be a good inspiration for start) and the balancing would be something that need precision. But it’s always possible to include this new system over time with small skill packs. ArenaNet could start with adding 3 skills to each right handed weapon, 2 skills to each left handed weapon and 5 skills to each 2 handed weapon. And with an iteration process see if this works and then decide to add new skills.
Acquisition of the new skills : it could be fun and epic ! There could be a new quest added in game with a mini-dungeon and a boss at the end. Each time you kill this boss you’ll unlock a new skill for each of the equipped weapons. Then you would have to do it for each weapon you want the new skills.
With different boss unlocking different skills, this would also reconnect with the skill scavenger-hunt we had in Guild Wars.
I hope you’ll like my idea and I’ll be glad to discuss it with you and operate some changes if you have nice additions or modifications for it !
I really, really miss the skills variety.
Yes in GW2 you can have a lot of skills at the same time with attunement, weapon kits, Death Shroud… But you don’t have the variety of builds you had in GW1.
The solution for me would be to add weapon skills that you could choose from to build your first 5 skills bar. I’ll post a suggestion about it in the right section, I think I can come up with a pretty nice and balanced solution.
edit : ok I took the time to make a suggestion, I’d love if you took time to read it and give your opinion : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Weapon-skills-builds-customization-balance

I love the idea of this mobile experience and it was for me a decision maker in choosing GW2. I’m sad my Windows Phone won’t be able to run this app.
That’s awesome ! I want the same with a Charr engineer
BEFORE YOU FREAK OUT PLEASE READ***
Seems like everyone is getting bent out of shape on something we have NO wording from ArenaNet on. Please, trust in their decisions making before you jump to completely radical decisions. NOWHERE on the official page does it say anything about these being stronger than X, Y, or Z. We literally know nothing about these armor pieces, so please don’t jump to conclusions, wait for the OFFICIAL blogpost that ArenaNet said they will provide, and relax.
For those who want some sort of counterpoint to the discussions on here, take this alternative perspective for thought:
“Introducing Ascended items, artifacts of great power that can be improved by a special new type of upgrade called Infusions, which can be found in dungeons. Look for more information about Ascended gear soon!”
This to me sounds like these new ascended armors might be limited to the dungeon and the dungeon continues to get progressively harder perhaps requiring the upgrading of the armor itself to tackle the harder levels of the dungeon as it continues to grow. Perhaps this armor might be only useful against these Karka much like infused armor was only useful against the Mursaat. Perhaps, they’re introducing a sort of gear treadmill in one place for people that want a gear treadmill. IE – In a dungeon.
I had the exact same idea, and I hope we’re both right. This would be nice and please most of the players.
Here is all what I did/opened to try getting a rare skin from this Halloween event :
– 26 Black Lion Chests
– 40 Mad King Chests
– 700 PToT bags
– 60 to 70 runs in Ascent to Madness
– 10 to 15 chests in the Lab
All I got was a recipe for the Gift of Souls. But besides all this, even if I wanted badly The Crossing, I had great fun ! My 5 hours in the Clocktower, the doors opening, the 2 hours in the dungeon with friends and random dudes…all of this was fun. I wasn’t lucky but I might be luckier next time.
im officially disappointed with the forums. 260 views and cant answer a “yes” or “no” question.
“When is attend the party?”
Yes.
No.
A “yes” or “no” question.
I would totally buy some endless tonics ! I opened around 500 PToT bags just to try getting one.
I agree with you, being able to trade tonics would be great.
We usually make parties with 3-4 level 80 and 1-2 low levels, so everyone is winning. We still make fast runs (10-12 minutes) but we also help low level players to experience content and enjoy the event.
They’re 29 pumpkins in Lion’s Arch city and 2 in the Pirate jumping puzzle. Getting the 29 pumpkins (provided you know where they are) takes around 10 minutes.
So with 5 runs you can get 150 pumpkins and all this in less than 1 hour. You can check pumpkins locations and different fansites and even here on the forum.
I finished this jp after 5 hours of multiple ties. I went through many states :
– After 1h30 : I was annoyed but the people around, I was annoyed by the wait
– After 3h : I wasn’t annoyed by the people, I tried to imagine they’re not there, I thouhgt i could never finish it.
– Last 2h : As I was going higher and higher, my waiting time grew smaller and smaller, and most of the puzzle is done with 1 or 2 people around you (or even none), so I wasn’t annoyed anymore and was even proud of my progress.
It’s nice to have 99% of the content of a game that is accessible but it’s also nice to have that +1% for trained players or very persistent players. When you finish a hard thing you’re proud of yourself and that’s a nice feeling in a game you like.
This jp doesn’t give any advantage by finishing it (stats are commons and skin isn’t nice or unique), you only get an achievement and not even a title.
With my guild we did 10 runs and we got 2 exotics and 1 Mad Moon. So as it’s a 5 people run, we got like 1 event skin + 2 exos for 50 chests opening. I think it’s cool and still pretty rare !
ps : I’m not the one that got the Mad Moon
The should allow you to put 4 stacks of 250 tonics of your choice in mystic forge in order to create the endless version
I got toilet paper also in normal ToT bags. I got like 2 for 100 bags.
Memento Box (small Digital Deluxe, starting gear and home instance improvement)

I totally agree with this proposition, it would make the game much better and my mind would be more quite knowing that everything i bought or earned is safe !
Halloween goodies will also come from quests, events and mini-dungeon. The items in the chests are just some of the many items we will be able to get. Devil horns for example will be free and probably given every 3h in LA during an event (if it’s like in GW1).
The main difference between drops in GW1 events and GW2 is that you can buy with real money a chance to drop an event item.
Therefore drop rates shouldn’t be the same. The goal of this post was to know how many chests people from this forum are planning to open (with gold or money) so we could estimate the percentage of skins drop rate.
The more people are planning to buy keys, the lower the rate will be I’m not saying the rate will change, I’m saying that I’m sure Arenanet already defined a loot table for chests depending on the estimated number of chests players will open.
A good number will be something not to small so people can get some but not too big so not everyone can get it. And this number will mostly be defined by the amount of estimated opended chests during the event.
I hope that drop rate will be higher than 10% otherwise this will be a huge gold/dollar/enter your currency sink.
Oh you’re right We have that same sentence on the bottom of the page : * Les heures et dates sont indiquées selon le fuseau horaire du Pacifique (UTC-7 :00).
But that’s bad, because people in Europe will expect to play it today (it’s 2h15am here), or at least tonight at 7pm…
This whip idea is amazing and for future updates it’s a really cool idea. They will add weapons, not now but later they will like they did in GW1. Daggers, Spears, Scythes were added in GW1 expansions and weren’t in the game at launch.
This is a nice weapon and Arenanet should listen to you on this one.
I concur the mystic forge was here even during the pre-launch period. You probably missed lots of content, try exploring a little.
The 100% World Completion achievement will keep you busy many hours
Hello everyone,
As the Halloween event will start soon (in less than 22h let’s say), i’m getting eager to know more about it and to get the most i can from that event.
Obviously, party hats (devil horns !), costumes and halloween-themed weapons will be mine !
But there is a trick (or treat?) : some halloween weapon skins will be exclusive to the Black Lion Chests. I’m sure it’s a good way for Arenanet to make some profit from this event (and it’s fairly understandable) but it will make difficult for most players (and even me) to get all of them especially because it’s a random drop from the chests.
On my side, i already exchanged 1100 gems with my gold just for the event but that will not be enough (that’s only 10 keys and I’ll still need costumes !). I’m planning on maybe 900 more but that will be it. I hope skins will be account bounded and in my dreams i want to be able to duplicate them like the HoM skins
My questions are : What do you think about this way to obtain exclusive skins ? Will you try your chance in opening some chests ? How many gems will you spend ?
The Black Lion Chest is getting a spooky upgrade for Halloween. Between October 23 and November 5 each Black Lion Chest you open has a chance to give you one of six exclusive Halloween-themed weapon skins!

As some of you said, it’s for prestige only. Like a title is prestige, like a legendary weapon is too.
Someone having a T3 cultural armor can show to his guildmates, friends and quest companions that he invested time in the game to achive this goal.
When the game will get updated more expensive armors will appear and T3 will seem like a not so expensive one, trust me
As it’s specified on the 22nd for France too, that means you’ll have it by the end of the afternoon in the US If you would have had it at late night that would have meant that we couldn’t have played the event until the 23rd.
