Hard-mode games are starting to make a resurgence … look at Diablo 3 and DayZ! We need more perma-death games!
Atleast ppl would focus on dodging and healing themselves in dungeons if their characters were wiped the moment they died. It sounds pretty interesting and I am all for a mode like that.

This might be going a bit far. I am sure there are many people attracted to this game for the story and creating a beautiful character in a rich world and are not even thinking about how they are going to be challenged at level 80.
There should be a broad range of difficulties. Getting to polarized in either direction will exclude people for no good reason.
The explorable dungeons were supposed to be the “hard” stuff for ppl that wanted a challange, with storymode as a casual alternative.
But what we are seeing is the casual crowd going “why do they get special content when I cant?, nerf explorable dungeons to suit everyone please”
This is exactly what ruined WoW and will eventually ruin GW2 aswell.. Anet will bow down to the demands of the many and nerf everything to suit “everyone”
When you hit the level req for the dungeon, you get an mail with an invitation.
If they increase the speed of the blue balls of doom I’ll be more than happy with the scepter tbh, but right now its way too easy to dodge away from it.
Some Dungeongear has Power/Vitality/Toughness, thats what I am aiming for.. I know you cant craft any armor with those stats, so you have to either farm dungeons or buy karmagear.
Because Anet likes to nerf us.
We got more armor, and therefore we get less health. Also it kinda helps that we have a thousand dmg mitigation and block skills.
Mostly WvW indeed.. (what else is there to do when everything else is bugged)
I understand the guardians potential in dungeons and spvp, but Anet managed to screw up dungeons and spvp just isnt fun in the long run.
The only thing Guardian has going for it is some mitigationskills and a few support skills. (Anet nerfed guardians healing, so thats out of the question)
Atleast during the early BWE guardians could outheal any profession and tank pretty much anything thrown at it, now that was a fun time.. Now we are just a more “supporty” version of a warrior without any longrangeoptions.
I really don’t think the amount of time it takes to do something is really any indicator of difficulty Zingery?
I mean, it is a test of patience I suppose. In that sense it is quite challenging.
I think the sooner mmo’s get away from the reputation of being incredibly time consuming due to having to repeat the same tasks over and over again the better. Those kind of games can still exist for gamers like Zingery but should not define the genre.

But please enlighten me what you think defines challenging in your oppinion then, because I am not seeing it in GW2. The amount of ppl wanting to nerf the already easy dungeons is crazy and reminds me of how WoW players started before blizzard nerfed everything to suit a 6 year old.
I’ve played Guardian since the very first closed Betaweekend and the class isnt as viable as it used to be… Guardian became Anets punchingbag everytime they wanted to nerf something, and the class went from being pretty powerful to completely useless. I still try to make it work, but lets face it, every profession in the game outshines the Guardian atm (even rangers, yuck)
The armor looks pretty sick on an asura warrior with the right dyes. If you don’t like the armor/stats/weapons the dungeon has to offer, its your own fault for running the wrong dungeon :/ nothing more.
Is that really the attitude arenanet wanted?

You do get something useful.. You can trade the tokens in for armor/weapons/runes/Recepies. Is it Anets fault that you didnt do any research before you went into a dungeon? nope.
And if you dont like the stats, craft yourself a set with the stats you want and transmute them, then you get the dungeon skin with decent stats..
I’ve played some Asian mmos in which it would take you a month to get one level…. Getting lvl80 in merely days in GW2 made me loose all hope in future mmos.. They need to be way way harder than this.. Dungeons are ez-mode atm and spend 1 week to get max level and max gear is ludacris to say the least.
This is exactly what happens when you listen too much to the casuals and dumb down the game (hint: WoW)

You know they will patch it soon, so just wait and take a break from dungeon runs.
I stopped after getting a couple of 20 token runs.
um, last time I checked dungeongear has just the same stats as Exotic, and like the poster above mentioned, rare items are very cheap.
Most groups can do dungeonswith rare items, as teamwork and coordination is much more important than dmg. (go in with 5 glasscannons and you will wipe)
Explorable mode is the hard-mode if you wish. And I would think its for 70-80. Its supposed to be hard, and require alot of effort to accomplish.
Pugs will wipe a couple of times in these types of dungeons, until they start coordinating.. You probably just had bad groups.

You just have to hope you are not the one getting borked by the bug when doing a run. Sometimes I get 60, sometimes 25 eventhough its a new path and I havent done it earlier that day.
I really like the concept behind the whole DR system, but right now its bugged to hell.
Its not working properly when me and 3 friends decides to do a dungeon together and I get 30 tokens, one get 45 and the rest gets 60. All doing the dungeon for the first time that day.
I fear alot of ppl will stop doing dungeons until this is resolved.
i just did CoF path 2 two hours ago, 60 tokens
did CoF path 3 10 mins ago, 45 tokens
im doing path 1 now, can u explain to me what happened?

Why a system always punishing the wrong people is not removed for 5 days or so?
I did TA 1st path = 20 tokens, then 2nd path and got 30 tokens. First two runs of the day.
Explain that one :P
Just logged in today and wanted to do TA for some tokens.
Did the UP path and cleared everything.. I got 20 tokens (3 ppl got 60)
Then we decided to do the FF path just to check the amount we would get… After we were done I ended up with 30 tokens… So 50 tokens in total for two runs, while 3 ppl in my group got 120.
Its pretty annoying, and I dont think I will do dungeons anymore until this is fixed.
One thing I quickly learned when i first started playing this game, is to forget everything you know about mmo’s.. GW2 like you said has no holy trinity, and you rely heavily on eachother to pull through a dungeon.. You have no idea how many times my groups have wiped because a warrior just wanted to tank, or the glasscannon thief with no hp gets one-shotted.. It will take some time to get to know the new system.
The group i am running with now can clear most dungeons, mainly because we help eachother out alot.. Everyone is cc’ing, placing boons or symbols, heals, ress, removes conditions etc.
You’ll get there eventually, but you will have to learn a completely new system.
It has nothing to do with being “hardcore” or not..
I’ve seen casuals log on a few hours a night, and do a dungeon… Its about learning how to adapt to each boss, and teamwork is essential…
You are not supposed to plow your way through Arah if you havent done it before.. Its hard because it acctually takes some skill and teamwork to get it done, unlike the previous bugged dungeons where you could skip entire sections and bug bosses.
The game is still new, and ppl flocked to the dungeons when they could be exploited for easy loot… Now when Anet has fixed this, ppl stopped going since its “too hard”.
In the end, we will see an increase in groups going to dungeons soon, when more ppl find out that doing the real dungeon is the only way to get the gear they want.
That is actually kind of lame.. I mean, what if the instance starter has to leave for whatever reason.. we can’t get a replacement for him /her and carry on? Really?!

I am running a support build guardian and like the poster above me pointed out, its extremely viable in dungeons… Boons, Symbols, removing conditions, Aegis-stacking on allies, ressing… I do all of that during a fight.. If an ally is down, I proc an aegis, start ressing him, and as soon as he is up he gets Aegis from me which keeps him alive until he can dodge away from trouble.
The one that enters the dungeon makes the instance, so when he leaves the instance is stopped and everyone inside it gets booted out.
60 per account seems the mot logical, but you just have to run a dungeon and try.. We dont know.
Were did it say Explorable dungeons were casual?
These are the harder dungeons and are ment to be hard to achieve, demanding alot of teamwork and strategy to beat them.
I still cant believe ppl are whining about Arah being too hard, its the last dungeon in the game, of course its bloody hard.. I really enjoy a challange once in a while, and my group of friends do dungeons regularly and got no problems with the difficulty, It makes the rewards we get so much more rewarding.. I guess people got too used to exploiting CoF and farming the dungeon in 10min.. Its the same ingame aswell, its the “fully CoF geared” players who are screaming the loudest about the dungeons being too hard.
They are fine atm.
The only two dungeons I have problem with is CoE and Arah, which is supposed to be really hard.. You just need teamwork and knowledge of how to beat the bosses.
It doesnt exactly help when you need to get the WvWvW sp’s/vistas and poi’s for the 100% map completion.. It causes hundreds of ppl to flood the map looking for random stuff while hogging a spot for people that acctually want to fight and help the server in WvWvW.
