As I understand it, pips can be added/subtracted thusly:

Where is the zero?

If zero (neutral) pips are possible, I haven’t seen it in 5 days… and I’ve had plenty of close matches.

The zero solves many of the problems with the current system; especially the 50% win rate requirement. Losing streaks wouldn’t sting so bad.

For example, I would strive to reward/penalize players at the following rate (un-scientific):

+2: 5%
+1: 40%
0: 10%
-1: 40%
-2: 5%

Also, it should be made clear to players what they need to do each match for the corresponding pip reward/penalty.

All I do is ranked PVP, and I’ve been playing for 1.5 years; nearly 4,000 matches played. As it stands right now, I’ve been stuck at T2 Emerald for the past 2 days (soloq). I’ll be shelving the game until a more rewarding (read: less penalizing) system is put in place.

I don’t post on the forums much, but I’m leaving this here because I care about the game.

Started Div. 2, Tier 2 with 3 pips.

Played 10 hrs yesterday and 8 hrs today.

Finished today same Div, same Tier, 0 pips.

I’ll take a year or two off until you get this sorted out, Anet. The p2w classes are almost as infuriating as the league system. WTB visible metrics and a system with enough common sense not to mix div.1 players (can’t lose a pip) with div.2 players (can lose 2 pips).

The “gain 2 pips” and “lose 2 pips” system is okay, but what about “neither gain nor lose if you play well?” Lost 2 matches that would have advanced my tier 499-502. Infuriating.

This is an undisputable fact for ranked pvp:

People in Division 1 have nothing to lose for a loss. People in Division 2 have a lot to lose for a loss. I had 3 afk teammates today and someone else said, “I’m just here for fun.” Fun is fine, but don’t make me play with folks like that. I NEED the win.

Solution: Don’t mix and match Division 1 and Division 2 players. It’s contrary to the current pvp system.

Why should the game look at how close your match was? Because it’s relevant. Example: You can earn 2 pips for beating a tough team.

Division 2 – tier 1, lost 2 PIPs for losing 2 heartbreakers.

I was the only division 2 on my team both times. I find that Division 1 people tend to quit or go afk or “are just here for fun” quite a bit, thus penalizing those of us who HAVE SOMETHING TO LOSE.

By the way, the 499-502 loss would have advanced me to the next tier.

Thanks for corroborating. When I first started playing I was really impressed at the attention to detail Anet paid to their game. Now it’s obvious that things behind the scenes and under the hood have proven me wrong. Really loved this game, but it’s time to move on. In case anyone at Anet reads this, the losing streaks and the p2w elites specs were the deal breakers for me.

I won a match that didn’t reward any pips and the entire match was missing from the Game History. I did get credit for the win in my “League Thief – Recruit” achievement progress, however.

Also, the losing streaks are back… Won my first 3 matches of the season earning 4 pips, then a predictable losing streak ensued of 5 games (disregard the unranked loss in the screenshot). Then I had the [MISSING] win and another losing streak started back up.

I confirmed a teammate was also missing the win. Furthermore, it’s obvious the mmr hasn’t been reset from previous ranked play.

As a d/p thief, I agree with OP. Hanging up my gw2 shoes for a few months, maybe longer. Just not fun anymore with the aoe cc spam. Nothing is more infuriating than walking up to a point only to see a dh trapper standing on it that I have 0% chance to beat 1v1.

Can confirm, it appears Level 3 is the problem. I’m on Comcast in the Detroit area. Been happening two days now. Can’t play the game more than 3 seconds without a disconnect. Also experiencing other service interruptions; e.g. primarily http.

Same thing. I just accepted a match, voted for map, then this error. Now I can’t enter the game, but I can login to the character select screen just fine.

All other network clients on my system are fine. This is a pvp server problem.

There is a predictable game/mmr behavior which requires most players to endure a 5-10 game losing streak at least every other day, sometimes multiple times per day.

Please end this and allow players to compete on their merits without requiring these annoying, discouraging and sometimes depressing losing streaks. It’s the antithesis of what gaming is all about. Please fix and/or disable it.

I’m looking for your top PVP tips for d/p thief.

I’ve got about 700 PVP matches played, and still have a lot to learn.

Here are my tips:

1. Learn how to stealth to remove conditions.
2. Learn when to disengage and reset a fight or move to another node.

Haha, good stuff. I am really serious, I want to know under what circumstances she would say that. The very INSTANT she is downed (not stomped), she sometimes says it. It’s like Anet knows what I’m thinking, but there has to be some kind of condition that’s met for her to say it.

EDIT: I suspect only the devs know for sure. Can you tell me, devs? Pretty please.

Every once in a while when my toon is downed (human female), she says, “This can’t be happening!” I’ve always been curious why? What are the conditions that would cause her to say this.

Ironically, I’m always thinking the same kitten thing. Haha

Can confirm. Lost 4 karka shells and the loot I had just salvaged was “unsalvaged.” Seemed like about a 2-3 minute rollback.

I reported this bug today here, and also filed a /bug report from the game client. Anxiously awaiting a fix because it’s broken the flow of my gameplay.

You also cannot:

1. Unbind or reassaign the default hotkey from this function, therefore I am stuck with F1 broken and un-reassignable.
2. Assign a secondary hotkey to this function.

The behavior in both cases is to revert to my previous settings after a full GW2 client restart.

With today’s update (May 19, 2015), and regardless of which key is assigned, the “Ranger Pet Combat Toggle” no longer works. An absolute game breaker for me in pve, pvp and dungeons.

When entering a PVP match, clicking the map selection sometimes fails to register, resulting in 2-4 clicks before it is accepted. This is one of those “attention to details” bugs that drives me nuts. I have faith in GW2 devs because of their excellent attention to details. Get it done, you beasts.

Yeah, there are a whole bunch of good stats on the scoreboard, but you can only see them for < 5 seconds after the match is over. I want to see those stats while I’m in the pvp lobby waiting for the next match. If they add more stats, fine, but start with the basics.

1. Let me see the Scoreboard after a match is over while I’m in the PVP lobby.
2. Give me one or two metrics to judge how I’m performing with a particular class.

Anet, please let me bring up the Scoreboard from the previous match while in the PVP lobby. I respect your devs for their attention to detail – and I can’t believe this has been overlooked.

Also, it would be nice to have one or two metrics to judge how well I’m playing as a class. We all know the Win-Loss record in solo-join PVP is meaningless.

Is my account flagged against joining PVP?

The last 20 PVP matches I played the queue took 8-12 minutes to join, while the average queue time was just 3 minutes. This started shortly after I reported a teammate yesterday for verbal abuse and quitting the match.

If so, can you please fix my account? I only have 2 more days to play before I go back to work and I’m grinding reward tracks.

Also, when the client is “busy dividing by zero” in this state, CPU usage on Win7 is 49%.

I’m on Detroit Comcast, which goes through Chicago. Same problem. So how do I patch and play?

Does completing a dungeon in Story Mode unlock its’ Reward Track in PVP?

I want to get Forgeman’s armor from Sorrow’s Embrace, but not by grinding the dungeon. I’d rather earn it with PVP, if possible.

Can I buy multiple Carapace Boots with just one Boot Requisition Order or do I need multiple Boot Requisition Orders?

If I need multiple Requisition Orders, how do I get more than one?

If I’m way off base, I’d like to know how to get all 3 weights of the Carapace Boots while only having one level 80 character available to complete the storyline.

I want to unlock Studded Helm and Studded Shoulders in my skin wardrobe, but can’t find them in game.

I wrote support and they told me that they are available as a Level 14 and Level 21-22 personal story reward, respectively. Support told me they were removed from PVE with the 9/9/2014 update. This info is also in the GW2 wiki.

Well, I already knew this so I played two different medium armor wearing characters (human ranger and thief) through those personal story points just to unlock the skins, but still did not have the option to select them as a reward.

Is there something special I need to be doing to be offered these items? Do I need to be a certain race? A certain class (thief/ranger/engineer)? A certain level? Select a specific option during the story line? Select a certain option during character creation?

Thanks for any insight – this is very frustrating for a dedicated skin collector.

By the way, I replied to support with the info above and will update this thread when I hear back from them.

UPDATE:
The GW2 support team emailed me the items after they realized their original reply was in error. The items are currently not available at all in game – and the devs are aware of the situation and working on it. The items they emailed me are soulbound and they unlocked just fine in the wardrobe.

There is a “black spot” on the characters’ mouth on the character select screen (see screenshots). Only appears when selecting the face from page 2 (lower-left corner) during character creation.

Acquired: from Vigil’s Keep vendor – I forget which vendor but there are two of them: one inside the instance (a frog guy) and one just outside the instance (human).

On the rangers’ right-hand side towards the bottom of the chestpiece there are TWO “hanging straps” that are “crinkled” or crooked (see screenshots). It is very noticable and obvious. It appears this way regardless of any other gear equipped, although I haven’t tried any other races.
