Could limit it pretty significantly by having to be mutual friends for over 3 months.

Sincerely doubt any goldspam account last that long anyway.

My thoughts exactly.

Well I mean when I’m in squads with a friend I like to run with them and stuff, but it can be super difficult to find where they are. We could still have tags that only we can see. Like I can mark my friend and only I see it. I don’t even know how commander tags even came into this.

This is is an excellent idea and one we have discussed in guild. I don’t always care for having a big icon on my head but understand why it’s there. I would be super happy if we could mark ppl privately for our own use.

It’s because Commanders have the ability to use marks on players and objects. I was using it as reference not as “replicate what ppl pay 300G for and do it for free.” I just see so many ppl get lost and struggle to follow another when they are unfamiliar with the maps. I just think its an accessibility issue more so than a luxury item.

The problem is somone could hack your account and add their account to your safe list. Then send everything to that account take it off the list and vanish.

Thank you for the response. I addressed that in my original post. In the end, if you have appropriate security in place on your account this shouldn’t be a huge issue.

So, from what I understand you want “tags” in parties? If so, then I must disagree.
Party -> grouped up and able to chat; Apple Tag -> same + leader tag; Commander Tag -> same + more options.

If they add that to the party, then they must add it to the mentor, it makes Commander Tags less useful to buy and what not.

I can respect that. I will filter my thoughts on how we “earn” Commander tags but this is something that should be accessible to parties. Whether through Mentor tag etc. I don’t care, but we need a more flexible way to tag ppl.

I like the idea, but instead of “tags”, probably colored names would be better, but that’s just my opinion.

I see what you are saying, the prob is that that you can’t see the specific groupmate you are trying to see. Not sure if I am explaining it right, but we used a light sabre or blaster icon to mark group-mates in SWTOR and it was super helpful.

I do believe this has been discussed in other threads but I would REALLY love to see us have the ability to “tag” other members of our party much like you can in squads.

Why? Because there are times we are running in WvW or even in Meta events with a large number of other players and we lose the new players we are trying to teach. Maps can be confusing for some players and, understanding that the name plates in parties are blue rather than green, new players can’t always decipher these things as they are focused on whatever the task is and can’t always see a colour change in names.

When I am on my Druid and want to use Ancestral Grace to quickly get to a downed player I would like the ability to quickly mark them so I know which direction to traverse. In addition, often when teaching new players dungeons and fractal mechanics, we will tell them to stick beside someone so they can follow that person’s movements. It makes things incredibly difficult to have to use the target mark on enemies and on players.

In my previous game we used inter-party marking tools all the time with great success and I can’t see a negative impact from giving parties the same tools as squads.

Thank you,

Please give us a safe list that we can add ppl to so that we can avoid the suppression limit. I send mats to guildies and friends all the time and sometimes it takes a couple of messages to get all of the mats out to all that reply to the Guild msg. It would be nice if we could add ppl from the Guild Roster and our Friends list to a “Safe” list so that the system would know we are not botting spam.

While I totally understand and respect that the spam and bot barrier is a necessary evil, we should still have the ability to be able to control who gets multiple messages via a safe list. I also understand the concern about hacked accounts. However, ppl who have added others to a safe list, know that those ppl would report strange gremlin like activity.

Thank you

Lag/FPS drops - Harvest Cascades - Lake Doric

In Lake Doric, when running from Red Leaf Retreat WP to Noran’s Homestead there are spots with massive FPS drops and stuttering/lag. I can confirm that this is not an issue specific to just me, map chat has been discussing it a fair bit this last hour. It is specific to the Harvest Cascades area and is also affecting Noran’s Secret Chest which, you can imagine, makes getting through the traps rather interesting.

Tbh, I can’t afford the luxury items on the TP so I stick to in-game currency mainly and if I have to buy gems, I use them for items that improve QOL (CDN exchange rate is brutal these days).

Anyway, I would really like to get the Soul River Glider and unfortunately, it seems it is only available with the Bandit Sniper pack. I am still running about in my HoT and basic glider LOL.

Seems silly I know but I see all these lovely gliders and back items and couldn’t help but put the Soul River on my Santa list.

To those who have been gifted…. Alot of ppl helped me in HoT maps when I got my first 80 there last winter. Now, when I see new players and help them with HCs or Port them to a MP etc. To those who have been gifted because of this thread, be sure to pay it forward if you haven’t already. Kindness is what makes this community great and why I keep playing.

Looking for a clarification on the demo.

The following was copied/pasted from the FAQ on the help page: https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/115010688287-Guild-Wars-2-Path-of-Fire-FAQ

In the first preview weekend, running August 11-13, players will get a taste of the first open-world map of the expansion and the raptor mount.

In the second preview weekend, running August 18-20, players can create demo characters and play in Player vs. Player or World vs. World with the nine new elite specializations.

I hope this helps,

I am not Australian, but I am Canadian and when I did the exchange rate on 79.99 USD to CDN, it was 100.56 CAD as of today… and that’s not including taxes.

Yes, I get it, I play in a US hosted game so prices are going to be in the home currency; however, I don’t think it’s too much to ask that the store list prices in our native currency so we are aware before hitting continue. So, I do have to support the OP that the pricing disadvantages folk who live outside the USA.

PoF - Purchase Clarification

A few of my friends have come over from another game recently and are playing on free accounts. They would like to purchase the HoT unlocks but have been holding off until the announcement of the PoF release date.

I just took a look at the bundle postings and they indicate that PoF and the core Central Tyria is included; however, there is not indication of whether the HoT content is as well.

Can you please confirm or deny that HoT is included in this price?

Thank you for clarifying!

Massive Lag

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Zushada.6108

Many people are experiencing massive amounts of lag in PvE for some reason.

Just had horrible lag/latency in Jormag like I have never experienced before. He sat at 7% with my auto skills flashing away and my text chat msgs weren’t being sent. As Tenna said, Didn’t feel lag while moving, but skills were unresponsive, unable to type in local chat (but could read those that could), and 450 ms ping ."

After 3 mins, I finally caved and flipped to another character to see if I had DCd. When I got back into Frost Gorge, I was on a different (empty) IP and the sell tab on the vendor by Jormag wouldn’t load. After a hard DCd from the game; I got back in and gathered Cypress Sapling which took a good 3-4s to appear in my inventory.

EDIT: Just ran AB meta @ 11PM Eastern time and aside from the usual stutters. All was normal. Wonder if this is just affecting certain maps/ips/servers

Easy mode raids

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Zushada.6108

Zushada.6108

You know, the responses I read to this OP question are exactly why I posted my thread. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with raids that have multiple levels of difficulty. Having Story mode raids that award achievements and have less rewards that a Hard Mode version would NOT discourage the community. The Legendary gear should NOT be accessible in a SM raid; I agree whole hardheartedly.

However, newer players without a raid guild, simply cannot get into the raids and learn because the COMMUNITY is blocking good players with KP and LI requirements. Having the same mechanics in a toned down manner would allow new talent to develop which I don’t think that is such a bad thing. Plus they already set that expectation by having 4 tiers for fractals. So any argument about not putting in the effort for the same reward is simply a load of bull. I run T4 fractals and I think the effort required at each tier is pretty much similar… especially if you are in a T1 with a bunch of new ppl . Its the mechanic difficulty that increases as such player skill develops. Raids, as they are right now, don’t develop skill — they simply cater to the elitists in this game who will kick you for not having 100 LIs that are impossible to get unless someone is willing to teach.

So please, in the future save your snide comments about time and effort, and your spam links of forum threads etc. Instead, offer less experienced raiders kindness and solid advice on what to do until ANet realizes they are leaving a good group of players behind.

Raids and LFG ... hmmm ... Clarity pls!

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Zushada.6108

Zushada.6108

I have been chatting with some guildies who are into raids. They have been brilliant with giving me the info on what professions/builds tend to do well in raids and/or are the most requested in LFG. Unfortunately we are short for a guild team. So after much practise and a couple of training raids, I jump on my Druid/Condi or Heals and check out LFG to see if I can get into a run.

Attached is the common visual of what LFG appears like these days:

Group 1: Exp or Kick
Group 2: Exp or Kicked
Group 3: Just wanted a Mesmer <— wish I was on my mesmer at that moment
Group 4: Ping KPs and chest or li, be exp or kicked
Groups 5 & 6: … the ones I love to see… Pay 5 gold and we will run you through the raid of choice. <— no, not happening

All of this leads me to think "huh? what is up with raids and lfg in this game!?

I am a long time raider in another triad mmo and I have to tell you, this wasn’t how it worked. LFG was for pugs no matter the experience. Instead, raid leads would call out in map chat (in the main gathering spot) and ask for whichever role they needed filled. But “be exp or be kicked” was never in the msg. Also, the number of achievements, gear or in this case LIs a player has doesn’t mean he or she is any good at the role they play. They may have 200 LIs and decide to test out a new profession/build and wipe the group a million times. I have seen a lot of uber geared players really suck in raids in my day so I suppose i don’t see such things as important. Raid awareness and knowing one’s profession is.

Is this a normal for this game? If so, how is anyone supposed to get LIs if all the LFG group want nothing lower than 100 LIs. Seems to me that raids and LFG are not friendly to the newer raider and quite frankly I am a little horrified that this is the “way” of the GW2 end game community. I flipped to this game because the community was amazing.

To see it so hateful on less raiding experienced players is really sad; especially when this game was founded on the principal of open-mindedness and freedom to choose your build etc.

I wondered if they had “fixed something” and if that broke something.

The latest windows version launched yesrterday/today so I wondered if it auto-updated and took out the server security protocols or something. These things always seem to happen when a major Windows update is launched and the supporting drivers etc don’t know what to do with it.

Either way, they are on it and seem to be pretty good with communications regarding such things.

We’re looking into this, will update when I have info.

Thank you, I am glad to see a staff post acknowledging the issue. According to map chat, and my own issues, SAB, PVP etc are all not accessible atm and haven’t been all evening. I played SAB fine this afternoon until 230 PM (Eastern time) when I left for work. Now I cannot access a world. Currently one of my toons is stuck in cyberspace floating between the SAB hub in Rata Sum and World 2 atm. I would like to get her back someday. :-) I have tried but the game keeps freezing like it has lost it’s connection to the host.

Thanks again for posting so quickly.

Edit: I logged into a different toon and tried to go to Lion’s Arch but it crashed the game as well.

Sanctum Sprint - Please fix Lightning Pull

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Zushada.6108

Zushada.6108

I have seen this addressed by others in the forums but after numerous attempts and much frustration, I had to reiterate the problem with Lightning pull…
1. Towards the end of the race, the player has to jump and pull themselves to the top of the mountain via a series of platforms.
2. I can successfully use the lightning pull for the first turret
3. Every single time I try to use it on the next immediate platform, I fall short.

I have tested my computer and network connection numerous times but there is nothing wrong on my end.

I really enjoy this activity, but the issues with the pull have forced me to not run it anymore.
