There’s two situations where I will take shield over something else any day:

  • messy teamfight, people are down on both sides. Launch your shield 5 wave and go in for a quickstomp while everyone else gets stunned, also blocks missiles.
  • rampage warrior 1v1. Block two attacks with shield 4 and make 2 phantasms (on top of my usual dodge/blind/distort rotation for this situation).

Lost time with GS auto nets you perma slow, and I don’t think danger time is really worth it when dueling practically gives you permanent fury uptime anyway. I mean you could make a weird cele hybrid slow build and probably use it well, but danger time looks unnecessary for burst specs, and even if it did, it wouldn’t need shield at all to be functional.

Permaslow with gs is only if you keep autoattacking. If you poke with greatsword every time before bursting people will learn to react to that. With the phantasm you can make the slow and burst land simultaneously out of stealth. I don’t understand your comment about fury from dueling. With a berserker amulet there is no waste of crit chance (it’s still under 100% against slowed enemies with fury up). We don’t want a great damage boost because another trait line offers a similar great (stacking) damage boost? Chronomancer in its current form needs very little to be functional, I’m just looking to suit my build to my playstyle with the way I like to burst.

Hell yes. Shield phantasm: summon a phantasm that slows enemies and grants alacrity to allies. Chronomancer master trait danger time: Gain additional critical hit chance against slowed enemies: 30%.

The shield phantasm will give me the initial slow, the grandmaster trait that slows on every 3rd crit will keep it up. My burst will be stronger than ever.

Skills or actions sometimes not happening

I used the search function and I could not find anything about this and there is no ‘known issues’ list so here goes.

This has been bugging me and my guildmates/friends ever since the specialization change: in combat situations, sometimes when using a skill or trying to pick up an environmental item the action completely does not happen. Examples:

  • Trying to take the hammer in cliffside fractal while attacking monsters. I’m aware that sometimes other people can take it due to different pings, but I’m talking about cases where the hammer remains on the ground for the next 5+ seconds. This is also not a case of mistaking the ‘loot’ action for the hammer, as this also happens on monsters that drop no loot.
  • Trying to pick up a reflecting crystal at jade maw fractal while attacking monsters. Same as above
  • Trying to pick up an ice bow
  • Using the mesmer downstate second skill to teleport away from an enemy who is finishing you while autoattacking him. This has actually lost me several fights in spvp.
  • Using skills with a casttime that interrupt or blind in clutch moments of a fight

I’m not sure if this is a bug or not as some other important skills seem to work fine (heal, blurred frenzy). They always interrupt whatever you’re doing so you can save your kitten . Whether or not a skill should interrupt what you’re doing aside, very often these actions or skills don’t even seem to queue up properly if I’m using another skill at the time.

This has never been a problem before this patch. I have a mechanical keyboard and I know when I’ve pressed a button (because of sound and feel feedback) but I can’t tell anymore whether a skill or action is actually going to happen anymore due to this issue. The game just feels very slow/clunky/unresponsive due to this at times.

I’m a sucker for micro in this game. One of the best parts about this game for me is turning the tide of battle around with a well timed skill or action and now it just often fails due to me not interrupting myself and not even queuing the skill/action either. Whether or not this is a bug, I would love to see an option to restore skill queuing and self-interrupting to how it was before the patch.

Hey mesmers,

For clarification: if you have 0-2 clones out and you dodge, you will summon a clone.

If you have 3 clones out and you dodge, nothing will happen.

You mean illusions right? If DE works with 2 clones out, I can still have a phantasm and replace one of the two clones by dodging over and over, which would make the nerf very silly.
