Daily reset wiped mount and previous mastery

Just wanna throw my hat in the ring here. I lost Path of Fire mastery points, mastery progression, and of course, the raptor mount. I’m sure this is just a silly unanticipated bug due to the fact that the expansion isn’t actually live yet.

Same problem. I couldn’t find a shield to interact with, nor could I “talk” to Canach in an attempt to possibly acquire his shield from him. The only interactables in that boss room are the mushrooms. I spent 20 minutes dodging grenades searching for a shield, trying to interact with him, everything.

When Blighted is at 25%, Canach doesn’t do anything except revive me when I go down.

You all do realize that there are currently 7 MMOs under DDoS attack here in the states right?

All of them with over 100ms pings and some even hitting Europe.

http://www.mmoserverstatus.com/index.html

If it were ddos it would be MUCH higher than 100ms… IJS…

The last time we had a DDoS (Confirmed by ANet), they averaged between 100ms to 120ms.

That’s a slight speed bump in the information superhighway, not a DDoS. Add an extra zero to the end of each number, and you’d be somewhat closer to the truth.

Let’s hope the issue is resolved sooner, rather than later. It’s affecting quite a few of us, and I’d love to get back to running dungeons with the guild (who also can’t connect currently).

For anyone with Rox’s markings that are stuck : relog after each marking fixed it for me. It’s not ideal, but you can finish the story mission

Didn’t work for me. I’m still stuck at “Follow Rox’s Trail”, which is greyed out with a checkmark by it. I found the first one, but upon arriving at the second, there is no way to progress. I tried character swapping, logging out of the game entirely and relaunching, the whole nine. Nothing.

Just a tad frustrating. I’ve been getting into the story, but now I’m forced to stop. :|

Edit: To be specific, The prompt to interact appears at the first tracks and the second tracks. However, no matter how hard I try, I cannot for the life of me get the interact function to work on the second set of tracks.

I’m now simply receiving a nondescript “Error. An error has occured.” message when trying to list something. Relaunching the game does not have an effect.

I can, however, purchase items without a problem. Strange, that.

I too am receiving the ‘login server’ notice. For grins, I did troubleshooting on my end and there’s nothing at all out of the ordinary with my computer or network. I can browse the trading post, but can’t list or purchase anything.

Error code [42:0:900]:4419:101

It’s a little disconcerting, but it’s also comforting to know I’m not the only one with this issue.. I did also send a bug report.

How is it, that games get this broken?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: alan.5863

alan.5863

The Devs specifically said that they do not want you to skip areas all the time because it makes the game “Dull and Boring”, hence why pets aggro mobs..

Wait… what?

The developers’ comments regarding skipping areas is agreeable to me. I hate skipping areas. How this is relevant to a pet AI issue, however, is beyond me. Was this train of logic also sponsored by Amtrak?

I’ll explain, though: It’s a survival issue, not a skipping content issue. Getting stomped by six Centaurs as a level 22 Ranger, despite what anyone might like to believe, is not fun. Having your pet aggro them, for whatever reason, just adds a bit of flair to the stream of explitives that you’d likely be muttering if this were to happen to you.

Therefore, I believe the pet AI is bugged. It should be improved, but in the mean time, I’ve learned to either stop farther away from a pack of mobs (Ranger) or just not use pets at all (Necro).

It’s a bug that I believe will be addressed in due time. ANet has a lot on their plate, and I’m sure they’ll get around to it. Else, many players will indeed find the Ranger unplayable.

Randomness is whats killing this game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

You totally misunderstood the post and failed to contribute anything to this topic. There were 2 points I wanted to mention in that post:
1)The randomness in this game is favoring some players more than the others and creating inequalities.
2)Our progression in the game is limited or at an end. We cannot simply advance in Fractals and other dungeons aren’t getting any harder. Most of the content is just pressing movement keys.

You posted a winding rant with no paragraph breaks, and concluded it with something about the Mystic Gear Dispensery. I could have simply typed “tl;dr,” but that wouldn’t have contributed anything to anything, would it? Instead, I addressed the Mystic Garbage Disposal.

Since you so kindly posted a breakdown of what you meant, though. I’ll read them though and respond thusly:

1. Randomness in any game favors some more than others. Those who do more, tend to benefit more from randomness. That’s not hurting this game in the slightest. It may be hurting your outlook on the game, but this game is just fine with the amount of RNG it has. RNG exists in every MMO, and by extension, in every game that ever existed.

2. I agree completely with this point. Dungeons are cake, whether it be because encounters are easy to maneuver through, or that people just run past all the trash using defensive cooldowns and speed abilities. Even some fractals can be maneuvered though in such a way (see: Dredge). I will say that it would be a daunting task to kill all the mobs in the way in certain areas (and nigh impossible in others). Whether this was the design philosophy in those dungeons or just something players came up with is beyond me.

We do need more challenges and something new to keep things fresh. I’d like to think ANet is working on that, and not casting a blind eye to the desires of its player base. But I don’t think RNG is what’s hurting this game in the slightest.

What do you think?

The world bosses are a bit like loot pinatas.

With the exception of Claw of Jormag, who actually has mechanics and forces you to move around or die. But even Claw is a bit like a loot pinata.

I like my dragons to actually move around and swipe at people, not just breath frost or poison in one direction, or jump off a mountainsid all like “Alright, Tequatl is here! Kill me!”

I understand you. Both could work, and could work rather well in their own ways. I just don’t want any players to feel left out, yet for those who do wish to engage the content to have something to show for it. As a WoW raider, I don’t subscribe to the mindset that “I worked for it, therefore I have to feel like a special snowflake” which is why I also suggest there not be a gear gating approach to this, nor do I want an added tier to wave around in people’s faces.

If people like the way the items look, then they too can jump right in and get ’em.

I don’t think either of our ideas has a “wrong answer” or a bad approach, as it were. We’re technically on similar pages of the same book. I guess what it would all come down to, is whether ANet decided to implement a system of raiding, and which gear approach they would take.

Looking back through your post, if the gear is something similar to the ascended gear (say, with an “infusion” adding agony resist, as an example), that could also be worthwhile. Have any +resist item drop within the first few bosses, perhaps while also having weak levels of said mechanic being applied to players from those bosses. As the raid progresses, have more of that mechanic going on, showing that the resist is a valuable thing to have.

A win-win philosophy is one thing I always strive for when trying to solve a problem. You can’t make everyone happy all the time, but so long as most people are happy, I feel good.

An honest question

alan.5863

If gear progression was added for “raid” style content, my guildmates and I would have no problem as long as:

1) The gear was useful only in the “raid style” content for which it was specifically designed.

2) The gear had absolutely no effect on any other portion of the game, e.g. PvE or WvW. Not even the slightest amount of stat benefit or perceived enhancement.

3) The gear would not look any different from any other gear currently available to everyone (even to the point that perhaps it only existed in the form of accessories).

I understand this, and somewhat agree. However, a lot of players might feel like “if our gear is going to look the same as everyone elses, what are we raiding for?” GW2 is, after all, a game where a larger emphasis is placed on appearance than in other games.

It might be best to keep gear out of the equationi. At least in regards to the first “raid” that comes up.

Alternatively, adopt the dungeon model where the raid awards tokens (remember, my idea involves no new tier of gear) that can be used to purchase new exotic pieces with a totally different and unique style, and no stats increases. This would make any “upgrades” purely cosmetic, and nothing more, much like many items from the dungeon vendors.

ANet, prior to Ascended pieces, did state that they weren’t going to add a new tier. While the Ascended gear had a loud outcry, I don’t want to see talks of raids stigmatized by the same. I don’t want a higher tier. I want every player to be able to experience the content, if they so choose. Reward players with tokens/xp/etc and let the players select from a new look, again, if they so choose.

Winners are everyone.

I mostly agree with the OP. Perhaps gear progression is something that can be left out of the equation, but many of the “challenges” that exist just aren’t exciting.

One can have endgame without gear progression. It can be something players of all stripes can participate in. It might be hard to fathom, but not all of us like WvW (for all intents and purposes, WvW is similar to a WoW battleground) or sPvP.

I do play WoW, and I rather enjoy raiding there. The only big problem in WoW is how quickly you can get behind in gear if you’re not part of a team that is progressing through the latest raids. I really don’t see why we can’t have raiding in this game, sans a need to push for “better” gear. No sense in adding a gear gate for a community who seems staunchly opposed to the addition of better gear, but there’s also no sense in opposing a need for more challenging content that one can do as a guild.

What’s fun for some isn’t necessarily fun for all. PvP, in all it’s forms, just isn’t fun for me. There are others in my guild who feel the same, so we all just run dungeons and fractals. We do wish for more, though.

@ Zoid.2568

Can you explain this? Did you play World of Warcraft? Are you use to pets tanking mobs or taunting them.

Your topic of discussion is questioning itself.

As a Necro myself, I understand what Zoid means. I think.

When you’re running along, as a Ranger or Necro, sometimes your pets get ahead of you. When you stop short of aggroing a enemy, sometimes your pet keeps going.

It’s not all that fun when you inadvertantly pull several enemies. Doubly so when it results in your own death. While you can hide your pet as a Ranger, Necros don’t have that luxury, and the only way to be rid of the flesh golem is to get it killed off.

Randomness is whats killing this game

alan.5863

This game isn’t being “killed,” nor is it “dying.”

The Mystic Toilet is all RNG. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s only saving grace is that you can’t get a quality lesser than the quality you put in. Four rares won’t get you a Masterwork.

A precursor or legendary won’t magically fall into your lap, nor should it. It’s great if it does happen to come out of the Mystic Slot Machine, but very unlikely.

Gear shouldn’t just get handed to players on a silver platter. “Oh, you stuck in four Exotic swords? Here’s a precursor!” should not happen with frequency. If you get one, great, but it just shouldn’t be one of those things that occurrs often.

I think everyone here on these forums all have an idea of what could or should change, but very few are likely to involve the Mystic Lottery.

Players often see things that are “broken.” Devs often hide behind terms like “internal testing” and “the numbers on our end” rather than explain a design change (or explain why they left an overpowered class or mechanic alone) to the player base.

It’s like that in every game. This one is no different. As a long time MMO player, it’s something you get used to. You might be able to solo a champion, but you’ll never beat the dungeon boss from the office building.

Edit: Public testing would be good for some of this (and it works in some games, to an extent), but for all the public testing we can do, the ultimate decision rests with the developers.

Topic on End Game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: alan.5863

alan.5863

You can count me as one of the ones who wants more of an end-game. We have guild challenges that we can complete successfully once a week, and WvW grinding, and dungeons that rarely drop anything useful. All that is nice, depending on your play style, but I would hope there’s more in the works for us.

End game content may not be for everyone, but I believe it should be there for those who want it. I don’t believe you’ll lose any casual players, because casual players will be busy doing their own thing.

There’s a lot to do in this game, but for those who want to grab a group of players from the guild and stomp through a raid of sorts, I think that option should be there.

Anyone can zerg a temple with enough people, or plow their way through WvW. When you take the element of zerging out of the equation, though, you no longer have loot pinatas. You have a distinct challenge. I think that’s what many of us want.

On the day of my character’s creation anniversary. Perhaps a precursor?

Don’t count on it. If they do “birthday gifts”, it’ll likely be something small like a mini. Maybe a weapon skin or something. But expecting something like a rare item/precursor simply for logging in on the day you created your character is asking for quite a bit.

I agree with number three in the OP’s list. The rest isn’t a problem I’ve encountered yet with my guild. We’ve had a few challenges with bosses absolutely kicking us across the map, but power in numbers always saves the day (even if it does make the target stroner). That, and making sure you’re near a waypoint so youi can quickly get up and back into the fight is key.
