No thanks. If his actions will lead to nornocide I personaly don’t want him to be redeemed. Deaths of the thouthands can’t be redeemed by “I’m sorry, boss” or even by “heroic” sacrifice. For me, this is the line. If Verdant Brink 2.0 happens, Braham’s legend should be put near Svanir’s, making his name a curse.

This is exactly my sentiment, too. I just hope Anet won’t resolve this problem by giving Braham some generic redemption plot that will force the Commander to forgive him and just carry on like nothing happened.

Were it up to me, Braham would’ve never left that cave alive (not because he hurt my feelings, but because, given the circumstances, his recklessness could doom all of Tyria).

If you’re trying to support a large group that can stack, swapping to the raid utility dps build on metabattle works well.

Other than that, I’ve personally found (my own variant, others I’m sure work well too) the wvw condi roaming build to work super well, especially anything where there’s only a few people and nasty mobs. Scepter torch staff, dire stat, illusions/chaos/chrono, you can do a lot of dps compared to damage taken. Taking decoy, mass invis, blink, and mimic (or an extra cleanse), it’s easy to skip mobs, escape, and very mobile. Since it’s very hard to die in dire gear with stealth, it’s pretty relaxed in that errors aren’t harshly punished like a glassy build (which direct damage really has to be for good dps).

If anything spec into something close in sPvP land and try it out on the dummies. Easiest and cheapest way to try-before-you-buy.

Just keep in mind it’s heavy on confusion and torment, so the DoTs don’t tick hard on a passive dummy.

Hey guys, would you suggest zerker or sinister/viper gear for the build OP posted? I use the same thing, except I run Staff/Gs with it.

So they were all dependent on your reflect wall? Sounds like you were the only one who didn’t abandon any aspect of team support. Many classes have walls, grp heals, buffs and so on. I do most everything on Thief and play the way I’m supposed to generally and won’t be stacking or eating anything. Molten Duo is one of my fav bosses because of how easy it is to survive as a Thief fighting it the normal way. ;o I also like the fight in general. One of the best LS.

• I can’t jump kitten. Either lag or my own coordination or misclick or a stupid mistake – something will always get me. I still try, but the experience is frustrating.
• My first character, created during the first minutes of pre, is actually my main from gw1. And I have a whole elaborate, complicated headcanon plot to support that.
• I hate Charr. I will never forgive them the Searing. Would’ve joined Separatists if I could.
• I actually like doing hearts.
• I mouse-click skills all the time.
• I have 9 lvl 80 alts, 7 of them were levelled from 20 to 80 in the Boss Blitz. 4 of them are mules.
• I avoid playing engineer because of hobosacks.

My guess is of the ones who go into WvW for the sole purpose of map completion:

A minority realized they liked WvW and stayed
A minority confirmed/discovered they hated it
Most neither hated nor liked WvW and would likely enter it more if they heard their server needed more numbers if they weren’t doing anything at the time (megaserver killed that for the most part)

People who hate something are FAR more likely to speak out on something than someone who likes something. Human nature, happens with anything – go find anything that has a decent number of reviews. So there is that bias to remember when trying to figure out how many like vs hate WvW after only entering WvW to map complete.

I have all the map completion I need at this time, but I am glad this is finally changed. How people of any side can be against this I do not understand, this brings only advantages. People who do not like WvW do not have to enter it in order to get a reward they intend to use outside of WvW, and people who like WvW do not have to deal with map completers filling up maps while not contributing to the efforts going on. I honestly doubt map completing made many people WvW who would not otherwise have realised they liked this game mode sooner or later.

There are map completers who decide to help out when they get there and sometimes they end up becoming wvwers, as I and others have already said in this thread. Without map completion, I’d never have set a foot in those maps back then. Many of the wvw dailies don’t require any cooperation (“kill a sentry”, “cap a camp”, etc), which means that there is the possibility for pve players to complete dailies without ever getting into wvw proper. With regards to map completion, you had a higher chance of success when joining a group rather than running on your own, so it encouraged you to cooperate with your team mates.

If you can’t get people into your activity by other means than force, there’s something wrong with your activity.
Also, see my bold. Some become wvwers, ok, but how many hate it and leave never to come back? Why no concern for them? And how can you tell they are not in a majority?

• I have a psychological, boarding on psychiatric, problem with a fear of failing. I was brought up in a very strict family, where every slightest mistake was punished hard. I’m a grown woman now, but even the mere prospect of screwing up always causes me way too much stress, ranging from simple anxiety to severe migraines to outright panic attacks. For that reason I can’t participate in any form of PvP, even though I am curious about it. Stupid, I know.
• Still, I managed to crawl my way through WvW to get my thief a World Completion. I didn’t care about the Legendaries (still don’t), I just wanted the star. Never got killed, not once – 90% of the time I was in stealth.
• I hated WvW back then, I had a very stressful experience with it. Now that I am not forced to go there on my alts, I actually think I might like it. It might even help me work through my psychological blocks.
• I have no gambling spirit whatsoever. I will never understand why people keep flushing money down the Mystic Toilet, lol.
• I have a crush on Canach.
• And on Anise.
• I have a soft spot for Kasmeer.
• I think the plot twist with Caithe killing Wynne was the dumbest idea ever.
• I kinda ship Logan with Rytlock XD
• I will go out of my way to help a downed player in exploration.
• I always do these insane trips all over the zone to hunt that one gathering node I see on my mini-map… even if it’s just some copper or onions. Of course, by the time I get to it a couple more nodes show up on the mini-map… like I said. Insane trips are insane.
• I avoid using waypoints whenever I can. What? Those kitten things are expensive!
• I hate random party invites from strangers. I don’t get why people even send those.
• I get really irked when peolpe assume I’m a man and call me ‘dude’ in chat.
• I hate skimpy armor.
• I enjoy random chat ping fests way too much. I’ve been called a kitten by someone in the map chat for that XD
• Sometimes I will jump off the high cliffs to my death just for lulz.
• A lot of posts in this thread disturb me greatly. Some others, I laugh to tears reading.

Oh man. That was me when I first started playing — Dire d/d thief, spamming caltrops and death blossoms, with traited caltrops on dodge. And oh yeah, I used my dodges purely for the caltrops. GUYS LOOK AT ALL THE BLEEDING. I could kill a risen abomination in Orr in only 15 seconds. Such pride.

I didn’t do dungeons back then (thankfully), but it was fun to stealth and ninja spike 90s of cripple on people during friendly guild PvP matches >.> So much rage in TS, it was glorious.

I still run something like this on my thief, occasionally I pug dungeons or fractals (low-level, I’ll admit), and I’ve never got a complaint. Last parts of LS, I even helped people to get their achievements with this setup – it all worked out just fine. Granted, I won’t do any speed-clears with it, but I am not interested in those anyway. Yet you imply I should be ashamed of myself for not running meta zerk? I think that’s a bit harsh.

For the ‘Mailbox is full’ hint. I had people spam my inbox until it was fill. But I didn’t get the achievement until i logged into another character and actually clicked the ‘Mailbox is Full’ hint when it popped up.

This helped me too. God, this achievement is such a pain.

I stuck at 82/83. The “Supply” WvW hint is missing. Don’t know what to do, tried to do some WvW with new characters, I tried to do everything possible with supplies but still nothing. Did anyone have problem with same hint? I’d love to get some clues.

Newbie ele here, I’m trying to master this class (my main is thief) so many thanks for the guide. I have a question though, what utilities/elite would you advise taking with 0/30/0/20/20? I mainly PvE, probably will try dungeons later.

Wow, weird. Turns out Ctrl + Shift + H, though present in key bindings, doesn’t work for me at all, in game included, had to assign a different button to hiding UI. Anyway, now it works so sorry for being off topic and thank you.

I’m on 82/83. I know which one I’m missing, because the Full Mailbox isn’t checked. Thing is, I’m at 10/10 in my mailbox, can’t receive any more mail, but the hint isn’t popping.

As for creating new character, I have no slots available, and I really don’t want to buy one just to get rid of the bug.

Same thing. Contacted support through the ingame bug-report tool, got no answer yet.
