I would imagine it could be very hard to play with that field of view.

Nomad ele..
lol. What a waste of a party slot.

You clearly have not run with one lol. Makes our FoTM50 seem like a FoTM5…

But then again I don’t subscribe to any meta. I don’t mind the pace being slower if it is easier. Some people like playing the harder content like FoTM50 casually, maybe while drinking a beer and watching TV. Maybe missing some dodges here and there y because that one Victoria’s Secret commercial came on. That’s where a Nomad ele comes in….

Don’t knock it til you try it. Unless you are a min/maxer and aren’t satisfied with anything that isn’t the absolute fastest run possible with no down-time and no tolerance for people having “fun” during the srsbznz that is GW2.

I mean…3k aoe heals from their auto-attack…yea…I’ll take some of that on my fractals runs… Good players are good players regardless of build. Sure your completion time will vary depending on stats build, but the difficulty/focus needed will vary as well. I like my casual pace just fine. I also respect the zerker meta that likes to complete content quickly. Different strokes, people, different strokes…

I dont need to run with one, even in fotm 50 ty.

I’ll take my faster runs thanks.

edit: it still feels no harder than fotm level 1 if people know how to play, instead of needing babysitting.

Need? You don’t need any class in this game. You can run 5 of any class and complete the hardest content in this game.

I’m glad you like your faster runs. I’ve run the meta. I’ve run it for a long time. Zerk warrior, guard, ele. I’ve done it all for a very long time and have evolved beyond the meta. I mean, once you have everything in this game that you could possibly want, sticking to the meta for the 1000th fotm run is, I dunno, kinda boring and definitely lame, no offense…

When you get to this level you will understand. In the meantime enjoy your speed clears. If that gives you joy then I am happy for you. It gave me lots of joy while I was collecting 1000s of gold for the items I wanted. Now I want to play for, you know, fun. It’s more fun to put our team at a statistical disadvantage.

Dodging and proper placement is not difficult to learn, so while I get that most people find the zerk meta to be the be all, end all of metas, that requires oh so much skill because you have do gasp dodge properly and reflect properly. Once you’ve done it forever and know every fight and have no problems dodging/using skills, it really is the easiest build in the game. Everything dies so quickly. Some day you will understand. I was like you. Once.

So you have wealth?
which can be gotten from the TP?
GG on your proof of skill.

You sound like the majority of players who can’t actually play the meta. “no offence”.

As the post above highlights, healing power is useful for afking content and bypass mechanics. If anything, it should be nerfed in pve because it allows substantial regen and disable the need for dodging.

I’m sorry, did you consider missing a dodge here and there as AFKing content? I’d love to see a team AFK FoTM50 just because a Nomad Elementalist is in the group…

It doesn’t eliminate the need for dodging, but it certainly eliminates the need for dodging perfectly. And isn’t that the point of support skills? I mean I guess Guards shouldn’t use reflect wall because it eliminates the need for dodging projectiles…and I guess nobody should use any Stability skills as that also eliminates the need for dodging certain knock-back attacks. In fact, I guess nobody should use any skills beyond 1-5….

Keep your hyperbole at home where it belongs…..

difference is:
Stability, reflects these don’t require you to have attacks which are comparable to wet noodles.

dungeon karma reward

It really must depend on your playstyle. I’m not sure how I’m doing it exactly, but I seem to gather karma quite effortlessly. My most recent big purchase was unlocking all the T3 Cultural armor skins. That took me down from about 6 million karma to 1 million. That was about a month ago, and I’m already back up to 2 million karma. O.o Where it’s all coming from, I have no idea!

I dont know how you do it either, considering cultural armor is purchased with gold, not karma.

Might be talking about weapons.

I am sitting on over 5 million karma. Well, I just got 1 legendary, but still. Might be I’m playing every gamemode besides wvw (getting those obbies from PvP). Can’t complain about any – dragonite, karma…
But i agree – Karma might be hard to get by by doing just dungeons.

Nope. Karma is next to impossible to get just doing dungeons.
But who only does dungeons?

My point is fotm and teq are the only major sources of karma, while obi shards are needed in huge quantities just for the refinement of dust/emp/dragonite.

As an alternative solution:

What about changing some of the bloodstone dust from champ bags back into drops of karma?

Seems most people have too much dust, but very few have too much karma.

The bags still drop the drops of karma.. how about tweaking the ratio a bit?
I’d suggest 50/50 between the two myself.

Maize balm should be nerfed

I can’t say as I’ve spent much time in home instance. Good place for ambient to farm though. Would indeed remove the problems caused by it at least.

Pretty sure swamp fractal at level 1 would work too, just a pain to roll it.

What happened to being able to get what I want by playing the content I want?

Karma is not what you want. It is one of many currencies you can spend to get what you want. Use other currencies if you are earning other currencies by playing how you want.

If you want an exclusive karma-only cosmetic then the exclusive stuff is not play as you want. Karma can be collected easily enough outside of dungeons.

So.. K-train?
no thanks.

It’ll probably get nerfed after the contest is over. It looks good to inflate contribution numbers after all. If the bags didn’t contain unique items, the prices would have collapsed and this wouldn’t even be a problem.

It really makes no sense that farming critters > labyrinth zerging > clock tower in terms of rewards. The more effort it takes, the less rewards you get, which isn’t really surprising considering most of the game is like that.

That indeed annoys me. Someone who can do the clocktower consistently, and get each chest should be getting more tots than someone who zergs, or kills ambients.

But yes, once again this is typical of AN’s messed up idea of risk/skill:reward.

As for it being “available all year round”. Why should this item generate you profit? No other holiday “fun” item does. Regardless of supply of them.

So I should receive the cost of a tonic in the mail from AN each time i use it? So I can continue to have fun by buying more?

Or should we be expecting to leave bags of coins in our trail when we walk around in tonic form?

unless i’m doing teq 5/7 days a week, I don’t even have enough karma for bloodstone/emp/dragonite refinement. Fail to see how teq and fotm karma is “excessive”. I remember when you got a jug of karma from daily, and 10 jugs from monthly.

I guess no one misses the karma from dungeons?
or no one remembers? Did all the players from back then quit?

Or is everyone preferring teq daily?
Seems most players are happy just logging in and doing the exact same routine daily. Reminds me of those Ipad city builder type games.
Maybe I’m just burned out on teq.

I would say all the materials could do with some careful consideration to be honest, not just that one type of leather.

+1 for the principle of reviewing the materials. AN probably do plan to, its just a matter of priority. We are quite a demanding bunch :P

Class Change?

I thought the traits unlocked like this:

Line 1, trait III: unlock at location X.
Across all classes, gotta do the same thing, for that trait number?

I haven’t bothered with the trait unlocking much, but that was my understanding?

lag in dungeon instances

Yep.

Had guildies from opposite sides of the US, UK and mainland Europe affected in the same instance. So I doubt its individual, or local backbone based.

Guildie noticed it coincided with the live-streaming of that $500 tourny they advertised the other day. Didn’t pay it much attention myself mind.

A new Maize balm thread has been here for more than an hour without being closed. I think its a new record!!!

@Tiger, unless Anet codes it in, it should behave like any other holiday item in the game, and work outside of the holiday timeframe.

lol. indeed.

Yeah, it should work out of halloween just fine.

The item is great fun. But it seems its only “fun” while its also profitable.

To be perfectly honest when I found out they dropped tot bags after transformed i was shocked.

I expected a transformed ambient to behave as any other ambient. This would be in line with other holiday items, no?
A bit of fun, but nothing more.

Once the halloween instance is gone for the year, this grieving is gonna pop up more and more. we’ve only seen the beginning of the disasters this will cause. Sadly AN is smothering it, trying to make it look like it doesn’t exist.

This item should be a bit of fun, but nothing more. Transforming ambient creatures is a brilliant idea! But they should still be ambient, and not dropping extra loot.

ToT bags and the super rare loot in them is partly to blame, but that should be another thread tbh.
