Clarification on reflects

Hey guys,
I’ve been playing my Mesmer since launch and I still don’t know the answer to this.

Regarding reflects, whether it be from Feedback, Mimic, iWarden or whatever else, if you reflect a projectile that would have caused a combo field (Warrior Longbow burst skill for example) – does the combo field a) still spawn? And b) do you become the ‘owner’ of it?

I agree that clone health is so low that 20% increase makes a negligible difference, I wouldn’t bother as there are so many more useful traits. As the previous poster suggested you could perhaps use Phantasm Defender, or if clone health really presents as a problem, use the Signet for +50% illusion health, a lot of people tend to forget about that one.

Yeah this seems to be a known bug that not a lot of peopel are talking about, I was running a few human lvl 1-10 storylines to farm black lion keys and noticed that the “Ministry Guard” enemies in the last instance on the Commoner story all counted towards the WvW achievement, I was able to get to 140/200 in only 2-3 hrs farming keys!

Sigil of Geomancy Vs. Doom

I’d put it down to personal preference above theory crafting.

They both have benefits, and drawbacks, Geomancy can hit multiple targets so if you’re talking AoE effectiveness it’s a no brainer, but it also requires to be in melee. Doom only hits one, but it can proc from as far as you’re able to range which is of course a huge benefit, you also don’t have to change attunements to use it as you can have the poison ready to proc before entering combat.

So I’d just say to run it whichever suits your playstyle and try not to worry too much about hard numbers. I run Sigil of Doom if that means anything to you ;-)

If you want more Armor of Earth, take the 10pt Earth trait to proc it at 50% health and have it as a utility at the same time, boom. Two Armor of Earths.

Quality of Life improvement for Mesmer

Being able to move during the cast of Mind Stab and increasing its God-awful radius would be nice…

The radius should be upped to 180, but it was changed recently to allow it to be cast while moving. It has a catch though, if you’re standing still and cast it, you won’t be able to move through the animation, but if you’re already running and cast it you’ll keep moving. The new ground targeting option works really well with it.

Might Stacking Question

I run a S/D build and to stack the most amount of Might (but doesn’t necessarily have top dps) would be to trait cantrips to give might.

Starting in fire attunement, while running to a mob use glyph, hit dragons tooth from a distance and set up your Ring of Fire, shooting your Phoenix into it, while popping arcane wave, then switching to earth attunement (during swap use cleansing fire and armor of earth), pop earthquake and hit churning earth (which won’t make it into the combo field but still do a ton of damage)

This may seem like a lot, it requires a lot of practice but if done right nets you about 21stacks of might while doing a huge amount of damage.

Another Elite Skill Suggestion

Some good suggestions, there’s an illusion elite I’ve always wanted.

Call it ‘Copy’, or ‘True Self’, I’m not sure on the name but basically, a 30 second duration illusion is summoned, doesn’t count towards your 3, and it mimics what weapons you have equipped, but has access to all the skills (weaker than your own) and can summon it’s own illusions. It’d be sweet, could summon it’s own duelist and use confusing images, or throw down it’s own chaos storm.

Seems a bit OP, but if the damage was scaled down adequately I think it could work nicely, think like having a Mesmer henchman in GW1

Extreme rubberbanding - unplayable

Hi all I’m posting this on behalf of a friend.

“I’ve just bought and installed the game, and am having extreme connectivity issues.
I am able to login, but while trying to run through the intro the NPC’s and quest objectives won’t react to me, I can’t interact or “talk” to progress and theres extreme delay between pressing an attack button and anything (sometimes nothing) happening.

I’ve checked that all my display drivers and wireless adapter drivers are up to date, I’m running over wifi with a 9mbps connection in the UK, speedtest.net shows my ping below 20 and I’ve disabled my virus protection completely… I really just don’t have any idea what it could be – does anyone have any advice?"

Ranger Sword Auto-Lock

I love sword on Ranger but yes, locking you in place is a bit annoying. But what I find most annoying is the delay the auto attack causes on dodge roll, sometimes you could be in the middle of the animation and see a big attack coming, and dodge won’t work until you finish attacking. It’s ok once you learn to plan ahead but I just find it unresponsive.

bugged weapon

It hasn’t been nerfed, iDuelist is a 20% chance projectile finisher, and it fires 8 shots. On those odds you might get 2 stacks, 3 if you’re lucky and any more is just a bonus. However if you take the 20pt pistol trait in Dueling it turns that into a 100% projectile finisher giving you a guarnteed 8 stacks.

GS and Staff have their phantasms in the #4 slot.

Greatsword phantasm is on #4, but Staff is on #3.
Bottom line, phantasms are in different places, it’s not a big deal, just remember what weapons you have equipped.

Mesmer Chaos Armor Bugged ?

This is how its always been, is working as intended as far as I know. You only get protection on activation of the skill, and runs for the duration of Chaos Armor. You’ll notice the protection is 5 seconds (base, you must have boon duration bonuses in the video) but all other boons applied via hits are only 3 seconds.

The combo finisher version has never granted protection on application or from being hit, I’ve heard this is intended, as the protection stack on the Mesmer is meant to aid in their survivability (and not a Warrior leaping in, for example)
